I have been utilizing Hill Dental Clinic in Allen, Texas, and its predecessor, Dr. Williams, for decades. Dr. Williams was a wonderful doctor and took care of me for over ten years. Dr. Hill succeeded him and was not bad, but the costs at Hill Dental Clinic began to increase. Despite the clinic being out of network for my insurance--and costing me more--I decided to remain a patient of Dr. Hill. After Dr. Hill passed, the clinic came under new management. Costs rose yet again, but I still chose to stay. In March of this year, I went in for my semiannual cleaning and checkup. During the visit, the hygienist recommended a "deep cleaning." Instead of a few hundred dollars for a routine visit, this "deep cleaning" required multiple appointments. When asked if I wanted an estimate, I said, "Why not?" The estimate was approximately $2,100, with my portion after insurance listed as $360. Now, after going back and forth with the insurance company, I have paid over $1,000--and it appears I'm still liable for another $600. How could the original estimate have been so wrong? I went in for a routine cleaning and checkup and ended up with nearly $2,000 in out-of-pocket charges. After this experience, I canceled my next routine appointment at Hill Dental Clinic and chose another dentist who is in-network. I don't appreciate the "bait and switch." read more

I guess from reading a previous review, it seems that it's common practice for this office to deceive you by giving you a false estimate and then after the work is done, claim the insurance company lied or didn't give full information and then the send you a ridiculous bill charging you the difference. I was very specific when I realized they were out of network. I asked them to call and find out what my portion would be. If it was too high I would have to go to find an in network dentist. Of course they didn't want me to go somewhere so trusting them I went ahead with the work. read more

This is by far the most unprofessional dentist I have ever come upon in my life. While very pleasant, his front office staff have to contend with the unprofessionalism of the owner, Stephen Hill on a regular basis, including but not limited to excessive appointment cancellation, incomplete work needing to be finished by the other partnering dentist, and inconsistent work needing attention from other specialists. If you need a cleaning, a simple cleaning, his office is likely competent at that, but if you need any other kind of work at all, from cavity fillings to crowns, this dentist Hill, is firmly incapable. I have one crown that needed to be redone by another dentist and remaining work I no longer trust him with. I went elsewhere, and needless to say, Hill's professional reputation is lacking among even his peers. Lastly, they do not stick to their estmates and you can bank on paying $500 - $1500+ more than initially documented and they will claim varying insurance-related reasons. Don't get involved with these people, you will regret it, or walk away now before more damage is done. read more

Prior to seeking service with this company I called and asked about my insurance to make sure it was in network and discovered it was not. I was told that even though it was not in network they would accept my insurance payment in full. I made an appointment. I received a cleaning and X-rays. I then received a bill for nearly $400. I called and asked why I was being billed. They told me well the insurance company didn't pay what they expected and so now I have to pay the full bill. So I reminded them of what we have discussed prior to my visit. That I took their word and that they would keep it. I asked what happen to honesty and integrity. The manager stated well the insurance company lied to us. So now they get to lie to me? I said you should have at least said if we don't get full payment though then you're responsible for the full bill in which they didn't not. I told her I would have looked elsewhere then. She says well our back up is the finical disclosure. Again I told her you knew I was out of network and you stated you would except whatever the insurance company paid. She agreed but continued to tell me that the insurance company lied to them. This. company will lie to you to; it's a lure and bait company so they can make money. If you go here and they agree make sure you mark out the financial statement there word means nothing. I will never recommend this company to anyone. Their word don't hold up. read more

I had an accident and Dr. Hill got me in right away - I have to say I was worried as any person would be going in to have her 2 front teeth basically replaced. However, Dr. Hill and his staff were absolutely perfect! They made me feel completely at ease and they got me in and out quickly, and for a great rate! Dr Hill performed a deep scaling procedure. His staff was fantadtic. They used a combination of oral anaesthetic and gas before the injections. Dr Hill even used an anaesthetic that controlled my blood pressure during and after the procedure. Knew from the first call when Mary answered I'd be taken care of. Called around the area and no one would help me figure out pricing or scheduling. Mary went the extra mile playing phone tag to help me out. Set a date. Just got back from a cleaning and feel great. I'm the most baby patient ever but Amy took her time and explained every single thing to me and answered all my questions and made me feel extremely comfortable. She's well trained with a great personality. If you go, please get it done with Amy. She did well and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I wish more people reviewed services that are really important, so here is mine. Called several places around Plano, Allen, McKinney and landed my appointment with Dr. Hill's office. My friend who is a pediatric dental hygienist recommended him (couldn't get better referral on my own- one professional to another) From making the first call I could tell that I was going to be well taken care of. EVERYONE in his office is personable, resourceful and kind; feels like family. I even had fun during my cleaning. Dr. Hill is professional, courteous, knowledgeable (but doesn't talk down to you). He even had me laughing. We found our dentist n he's right here in our back yard. They are also very well organized n very clean. Very important to our family. Wonderful dentist! They are very accommodating and work with you on everything. Dr. Hill will take the time to listen to you and he doesn't ever make you feel foolish about your fears or concerns. The hygienist is great-very patient and gentle, but thorough. The front office staff is amazing! I love Trish and Mary! My husband sees dr. Lets start by saying that I have an irrational fear of dentists to the point that I would rather let my head explode than go to visit one. Unfortunately, or fortunately, pain outweighs fear. I started to experience pain on a Saturday and thought it would get better, by Tuesday I was not able to sleep and vision out of one eye was blurred due to pain. I called and spoke to Mary who immediately put me at ease and let me know that I would be taken care of and that my fears would be taken into consideration. I showed up at the office and was greeted like a member of a family. When the assistant came out and got me, I don't' remember her name due to being scared to death but I think it was Courtney, she greeted me like a long time friend. She took me on a little tour of the office and sat me in the chair. Dr. Hill came in and saw me and talked to me explaining my options. I was afraid that he would be judgmental and lecture me since it has been so long since I saw a dentist last (1984) but he did not lecture or anything. It ended up that due to the abscess of the tooth and the way the roots were that a root canal was not feasible and that the best option would be removal. Fear factor just increased, but between Courtney and Dr. Hill that was taken care of. Long story short, it was removed without any pain except first poke of Novocain. I have never experienced a dentist that cared more about the feelings of his patients and a staff that did everything they could to make sure that you feel relaxed (or as relaxed as you can be) and the follow up call the next day was nice also. I definitely want to say thank you for everything and if you are looking for a dentist because you are new in the area or you aren't happy with your current one to go see Dr. Hill. You will not be disappointed. read more

WOW!! My first visit to Hill Dental Studio, and what a refreshing experience. The staff was so knowledgable, helpful and friendly. The assistant was so patient with me. I am not the best patient... Dr Hill was not what I expected. He spoke to me and explained things to me like a regular person. He made me feel very comfortable. None of my "dumb" questions bothered him. He took all the timt "I" needed to feel comfortable in the decisions I need to make with regards to my needed treatment. When I was leaving, I was not FORCED to schedule anything. I was given many options, and all the time I need to make the decision that works for me. I am confident that I will get the best care when I go back for the proceedures I need.
