My wife went to Thompson dental for her appointment today The receptionist made her pay her portion of the bill for the x-rays and the cleaning which is $130 upfront and then made her next appointment for her cleaning in April. After her cleaning was done by her hygienist, the hygienist mentioned changing insurance policy and rates. Upon enquiring at checkout, the receptionist mentioned that our insurance Aetna was dropped by the doctor. My wife proceeded to ask her why she was not informed of that before her appointment with the receptionist answer was that Aetna does offer out of network services and and that my wife should be fine. This is totally unprofessional behavior and and we would've hope that they would've let us know before the appointment for. read more

Today is my 2nd appointment since moving here. Our first experience was great and today was even better. The staff make the visit a pleasure to go to the dentist. A teeth cleaning is never fun but with a nice facility, equipment and friendly staff I can hardly wait to go back. I stand by by first review. I think the customer service here needs to be worked on. After my last review, Dr Thompson did reach out which was a nice gesture but it didn't change my experience or my criticisms. I returned his call the next day, I left a message saying I'd give them another shot and that he didn't need to return my call but did want someone to call me back so I could make a payment. I never received a call back. I finally received a bill today, almost a month and a half later! Wow! Raelyn helped me over the phone today to take my payment and she was nice and approached things a lot better than Jordan had. But apparently there was a note on my account that I was going to call back to make a payment! Nope, not the case, please listen to your messages more carefully or maybe just followup with the patient if there is a note saying that and they haven't called back?!?! That would just make too much sense maybe? I just also think it's funny/ weird (and I brought this up to Raelyn) that she didn't ask for the name on my card in order to take a payment over the phone but it mattered so much when taking a payment in person. Really hoping things turn around by my April appointment. Thankfully Raelyn understood my want to start over and scheduled me with another hygienist. read more

Dr. Thompson and his staff are amazing. We knew that the first time my husband and I went in for a cleaning. It was the most through dental appointment I had ever had. Through the years my husband has had some dental work and no once had he felt taken advantage of or gouged. I recently had to take our 6 year old in who normally visits a pediatric dentist who apparently was closed on Monday (rolling eyes). They got us an appointment immediately. The staff made him feel welcome, answered his 1,000 questions, and talked him through everything. The first thing Dr. Thompson did was joke with him about ways to pull teeth and told him to go on your tube to research. You can tell he has kids and is a big kid himself. Well, he now became the "coolest dr in the world. "After the appointment, he even showed us a video of his daughter getting a tooth out! What a fantastic team! Dr. Thompson is a pleasure to be around! I have been very stubborn about dentistry in North Texas. THe first dentist tried to have me replace a new filling because she didn't like the way it looked, the second dentist provided me a bite guard for sleeping (almost $400 out of pocket) and it still does not fit right! I'll start by saying I'm not a fan of going to the dentist...like, at all. So a few weeks ago a chipped off about half of a molar and got a pit in my stomach immediately. I knew I was going to have to go to the dentist. Fortunately Thompson Dental was able to fit me in the very next day. I have to admit that the staff and the experience was excellent. They made every effort to make me comfortable. They gave me some headphones and I watched a couple of episodes of Portlandia while I got my work done. Turns out I actually needed a root canal. That sounds way worse than it was. Everything went went very smoothly. They actually made the crown on site and I was good to go by the time I walked out the door. I'm not huge into writing reviews, especially for root canals, but I'm happy to give 5 stars to Dr. Thompson and the team at Thompson Dental. read more

Everyone who works in this office has always been nothing less than exceptionally courteous, competent, and professional. No attitudes, no eye-rolling, no sighing, and nobody eating their lunch in front of you while you are trying to talk to them or ask a question. Dr. Thompson is the kind of person who seems to be in a perpetually good mood, always smiling, upbeat, and outgoing. He even hums to the background music while he is working on your teeth lol. He will thoroughly address any concerns and questions you may have before the procedure, to include updating you as he goes along. He is well aware that most people would rather be anywhere else than a dentist's chair, so he goes out of his way to make sure you are reassured and as comfortable as possible. I haven't even mentioned the iPads with Netflix and wireless headphones...no, I'm not kidding. But most importantly, he is an extremely competent and professional dentist who will make the procedure as painless as possible and complete it in the shortest time possible. Lastly, they will work with you and your insurance to ensure you know exactly what you will be paying out of pocket and how much of your benefit you have remaining. After researching that the new management was truly not associated with the old (thank goodness), my wife decided to try out this new practice. It was incredible for her (who is a worry-wart) so I went and found the same. They use all newer technology and explain everything for you. To say they're thorough is an understatement. I knew I probably had some issues and once determined, they gave me a precise price sheet so I knew exactly my out-of-pocket costs before agreeing to treatment. That was helpful. Today I just had some fillings done and, for an uncomfortable process, they made it as comfortable as possible. I wish I was here when I was younger and getting fillings. Dr. Thompson, and his entire team are all extremely friendly, accommodating, and generally very helpful. I have had multiple cleanings done here, as well as fillings, all with highly satisfactory results. The hygienists are generally awesome, and they provide helpful home dental care advice without coming across mean or judgmental. I believe they genuinely care about the well being of their customers. The front desk staff is helpful navigating the increasingly complex insurance waters, and easy to work with when it comes to making appointments. I have only had one negative experience on a visit, and that was when I got the Zoom teeth whitening. After the work I began having sharp pains in my mouth for about 5s at a time. I have a high threshold for dental pain: had teeth pulled, had fillings, snapped retainer, etc; none were as sharp as this. Dr Thompson & his staff made every effort to make me comfortable. Dr even called me from his after hours number to follow up on their closed day. After a day or so the pain has mostly subsided. All of that said..I want to end on a positive note, because Dr Thompson and his staff really did seem concerned about my comfort , and despite the painful whitening procedure, I am still happy with them and the response they made. While in the military I had to be bodily escorted to the dental facility because I was a "flight risk", but no more. A dental emergency finally caused me to face my fear. I made an appointment to get a lost filing replaced. I scheduled with these guys instead of my regular dentist because they had some convenient morning hours so I wouldn't miss work. The problem is I just got X-rays to confirm that I needed a filing replaced (I already knew that it came out while I was flossing), and then was told they were too busy to actually fill it but I could come back at a later date. So Dr. Thompson took over my old dentist's practice about 2ish years ago (Advant Dental). I was really nervous about the transition, but the deal was sealed after my first visit. He was sooo nice and just sat and asked me about myself and just got to know ME. I can honestly say I've never had a dr. do that before! He has done a root canal on me and some crown work. He has done a fantastic job on both! They can always squeeze me in if I ever have any concerns that day. Very few times have they had to schedule me the next day (usually it's 1st thing in the a.m. though). He is incredibly patient and kind.
