When I initially began coming here in early 2021, everything seemed to be going well. I had really good hygienists and received good feedback as well as sound advice on how to better take care of my teeth. Lately, it seems like I am getting up-charged every time I come here. This office cleaned out my flex account last year, but problems persist. They're saying I may need to come out of pocket another 2 grand due to more gum problems (which I thought were corrected my previous visit which cost over a thousand dollars). Also, just when you think you've paid your entire bill after cleaning out my flex, these mystery charges seem to spring out of nowhere and because I got billed the next calendar year, my FSA will not accept the payment. It started out as a friendly relationship but now, they seem to approach healthcare like used car salesmen. I have already switched dentists. read more

I had a disappointing experience with Stonebridge Dental due to poor communication and unprofessional behavior from both the front and back office. When I scheduled my filling appointment weeks in advance, I was quoted about $50 out-of-pocket and required to leave a $25 deposit, which already seemed unusual for a small procedure. I paid it anyway. When I arrived for my appointment and was already in the dental chair, a back-office staff member came in with a new quote of $100. This was the first time I was told of any change, and the quote did not even reflect the $25 deposit I had already paid. I calmly asked when they realized the cost would be higher than what I was quoted. No one answered that question. Instead, I was repeatedly told, "This is insurance," in a dismissive, condescending tone. Rather than working toward a solution, they chose to reschedule my appointment. I requested my deposit back and decided not to continue care there. I had driven in from Oklahoma for this appointment, making the situation especially frustrating. As I was leaving, the staff member who originally booked my appointment smiled broadly and said "bye" in a way that felt clearly sarcastic and unprofessional. She is amazing with kids and such a wonderful person!! We won't see anyone else from now on. Yoyo is kind, patient and truly loves working with kids. from the moment Penny stepped into her dental room she loved all the kids decorations and the movie playing but her favorite part was her treat bag from yo-yo for being so brave! I had a cavity filled less than a year ago. I complained of sensitivity after the filling took place and was told nothing was wrong with the filling and to try sensodyne toothpaste. I received a second opinion after months of being able to chew only on one side of my mouth. Another dentist told me that they put too much of the filling in. Well today the filing came out. I have never had a filling just come out. Super unhappy that now I have to go through another filling process because this was subpar. read more

I was getting married and went in for a consult on how I could fix my teeth. I only had a few months to get the smile I always wanted. I was considering veneers due to the short time period and figured that would be my only way to get white teeth. (I had been told by all my previous dentists that whitening would be ineffective on my teeth due to the white spots) He talked me into Invisalign and whitening. I have been using this dentist for about 8 years. In the last year ot has gone downhill. I ordered and paid for a night guard. It took literally an hour to scan for it. I waited a month and they never called me to pick it up. I called and they said that they would have to check with the lab. Then they went AK and forth. They lost the upload. They had to rescan me. This time was faster like q5 minutes. Then I waited again. I called again and again they did don't sent the file. It took but 6 mote weeks to get it. They did such a horrible job getting me the guard that they gave me two Amazon gift cards. I made the mistake of ordering another on December 9. It is now February and I still do not have the guard. I am having to check to see of they charged my insurance. Thankfully I can but 3 for half the price of the dentist by buying them online. The online place can get it to me in as fast as two days. I will go with the normal 10 days. I am a heavy grinder and have to have multiple guards. Do not order appliances from this dentist. They do amazing crowns. Every doctor is kind and patient and they never try to sell you additional services-they let you know what you need and wait for you to decide. Recommended by a colleague, as I thought I was gonna have to get a root canal. Dr. McDavid was very thorough in the exam and explanations, and made me feel at ease for the treatments that I'll have. Absolute worst experience ever with this dental office. For a place that should know and understand teeth, they don't seem to at all. My husband has spent HOURS being in their office trying to get an implant in. They always have to reschedule appointments due to delays. He has had to take so much time off of work only to get to the office and find out they have messed something else up or he gets called less than 24 hours before his appointment to say that something is not ready and they need to reschedule. They clearly have no concern for their clients or their clients time. They have not done anything to expedite or make this right, just keep making him come back up there. read more

I can't say enough good things about this office. Going to the dentist used to be what I dreaded most. Now I look forward to my appointments! I've never had to wait long before getting seen. The system they have set up for your cleanings & getting seen by the dentist is awesome! You're never waiting for anyone! The cleanings are pain free and nonjudgmental. Every hygienist I've seen has been awesome. Both dentists are incredibly pleasant and efficient. On my first visit (which was my first in years), they found some areas that needed sealants. I was able to get an appointment that same day to get the process started! During my next cleaning, one of the sealants had come off partially. They fixed it free of charge on the spot. I have only been to this dentist office once which was an okay experience, today I called in to schedule my checkup/cleaning and spoke with Landon who was rude because I could not find my insurance card, I provided her with my SSN, provider name and any additional information needed she has, during the phone call she advised me that the appointment could not be made because I didn't have the information on the card. I verified what I was just told and was advised well we can make the appointment but you have to have this information on tomorrow or it will be an out of pocket expense. She then stated I could call to get the Information and I said well I don't have the card so I don't have their number, this is something you can do for me since your my dentist office- she began to talk over me and proceeded to disconnect the phone call. I went for my first dentist appointment since 2012. This was also my first time at Stonebridge Dental. I had an AMAZING experience, considering how freaking nervous I was (6 years since my last dental appt. can you blame my nerves? lol). Luckily, I was placed with the wonderful hygienist Amanda. She made me feel comfortable right away.. one of the many reasons why I enjoyed her as my hygienist is because she explained the big picture and the "why" behind everything. I asked multiple questions and she had answers for every one of them. Once Dr. McDavid walked in, he was very nice and made me feel SO much better about my 6 year absence! I cannot appreciate these two people enough, because I had been stressing about this appointment for a week (thinking the worst of course).. but to my surprise, the appointment couldn't have gone better! The place itself was clean, a great temperature (not too hot, not too cold), staff was friendly all the way to the check out. I have previously only had two types of visits to the dentist: horrible, and less horrible. This office adds the third category of FREAKING AWESOME! Everyone is friendly, professional, and flat out amazing at their jobs. Plus, they don't push unnecessary treatments on you. My wife had an appointment after me with a different hygienist and a different dentist, and she said the same thing. The rooms are relaxing and the staff is top notch! Went to them first in 2015 when I was referred by my previous dentist in Houston. One of the first things they recommended to me was 20K in orthodontics. When I said no, I was then placed with another dentist in the practice, that I didn't know. More recently, I went in for a new night guard for when I sleep. Knowing I have had this condition for 30 years I knew I needed a new one; however, the "new" dentist advised he could modify the one that I currently had and it would keep me from grinding my teeth. Since he was supposed to be "the expert" I agreed, he simply added an block of plastic to the existing appliance and sent me for an at home sleep study. (Turns out the dentist owns the sleep study practice and was trying to make insurance money off of the scam.) When it was ready 3 weeks later, I picked it up and the very first night is pushed my bottom teeth out of alignment and cause horrible headaches. When I called the office advised they advised to bring the "newly modified" appliance back in, so I did, all they did was grind the block of plastic off and give it back to me, I was apparently allergic to something because it caused my lips to go numb at night and swell like I had been punched in the face. I requested that a new one be made. They advised it would be about 4 more weeks, while I waited I walked around with swollen lips. Then I go in to pick up the new on and I was charged more than $400. They said because the doctor had modified my last one insurance would NOT cover this one. So now I am stuck with a $400+ bill. I paid $250 on the day to receive the appliance and was told the office manager would look into it for me. Flash ahead 2 months and I receive a bill for $163.15. I send a check for $10 stating that I will make monthly payments because this was not in my budget, I received a new bill showing I was 30 days past due and that the $10 was not applied to my outstanding balance. I will find new dentist in the McKinney and would never recommend this group for any dental needs. read more

Hadn't been to a dentist in quite a while. Broke a tooth and was in a lot of pain. Called on the recommendation of a co-worker. Best call I ever made!! Receptionist scheduled me for a quick appt. Catherine, hygienist, was very patient and thorough. I was seen by Dr. Alan McDavid, who was wonderful. Told me what needed to be done and was very informative. I went in today for a filling and a root canal and have to say, Dr. McDavid and Allie were absolutely wonderful. They were both very patient and checked on my comfort the whole procedure. I've been going to Stonebridge Dental for about 10 years now as a patient of Dr. Bolten. It has been amazing to watch his practice grow over the years, while still feeling that I am receiving the best oral care and advice needed. I have had root canals and crowns, fillings, cleanings and even consultations for other oral issues. I have always come away with a positive attitude from the practice, even if I didn't like what I had to do next in my oral care. Katherine was my most recent hygienist, and made the whole experience very relaxing while she did my cleaning. Annette, who assists Dr. Bolten, always has a smile and good humour to get you through the tough appointments while quickly working with him through the procedures. I picked this dentist because they were on my provider list for my insurance and I'm new to the area, so I just selected them based on reviews. The hygienist and dentist were nice enough but the services are outrageously expensive, leaving the patient with a lot of out of pocket costs above the customary price of services. It's a super fancy office with lots of exam rooms and equipment probably drives up costs. But honestly I would've just taken all of that for what it is and left it alone without writing this review, EXCEPT they told me I needed $3600 worth of work on my teeth (*only* $2700 out of pocket after insurance, or $290 per month) -- two crowns and two fillings -- and that it would take several appointments for all of that. First of all, $3600 is too much for that work, period. Secondly, I've never really had issues with my teeth and wasn't having major issues then, so I was shocked. They wanted me to schedule that day and pay half up front, and basically gave me no options or alternatives despite the fact that I was clearly very distressed and asking for options besides crowns. It was more like "this is what you have to do, and it'll be thousands of dollars, end of discussion". Nope. So I went to my dentist in East Texas that I used as a kid/young adult for a second opinion before I plunked down a bunch of cash on services I wasn't sure I needed, and sure enough, he said I need ZERO crowns and one filling. Total cost? Around $100, one visit, no stress. In short, I didn't feel like I could trust that they had MY best interests in mind. Instead, they were looking for problems and then charging an arm and a leg to "solve" them. Are my teeth perfect? Not a bit. But I guess I'll stick with my small town dentist forever if it'll save me $3500 per trip. If you use them, be very aware that every single thing they do is going to cost you a lot of money (including routine cleanings and checkups, which was over $400 billed to insurance) and get a second opinion before having any work done. read more

I scheduled with Stonebridge Dental based off of the reviews here. I called to schedule an appointment and the person on the phone was very helpful. She tried very hard to get me in quickly and on the days I asked. She said to me, "Be here a few minutes early because we do run on time!" I show up 10 minutes early for a 2pm appt. I finally go to the back at 2:20. Not exactly on time but not a huge deal for me. The girl doing my x-rays was having some issues and I found myself turning to accommodate the machine instead of the other way around. For digital x-rays, it took a lot longer than I expected. They use a radio system so they can ask for help and communicate with each other. My dental assistant (Yolanda) asked for somebody to help with the periodontal check. She called twice. I was laying down in the chair so I never could see if anybody came in. Next thing I know, she is doing the check and calling out numbers. However, nobody was there to write it down! She was calling the numbers out and then writing it down herself. Dr McDavid comes in and seemed nice enough. Turns out I had 3 cracked teeth from old fillings. I didn't know they were cracked so I was a bit overwhelmed hearing this. I felt like I was rushing him because he was ready to run off. He never went over my periodontal numbers or any kind of cleaning plan. I had some high numbers in a few teeth and I know the routine. The dental assistant then says to me, "You still have some staining, do you want me to finish or are you ready to leave?" Staining? I wouldn't call it staining but whatever! I had been there 2 hours and she hadn't finished cleaning my teeth yet. I honestly don't think she did a good job at all and I told her to finish. She did a very quick polish and said we were done. My teeth do not feel clean like they normally do when you leave the dentist I then had to wait in my room for the billing person to have my stuff ready. They basically hand me a sheet stating to fix my teeth with insurance, it would be $4K. When do you want to schedule? I said I would have to get back to them. I had a chance to think about some things and I had some questions. I call back the next day and asked if I could speak with Dr McDavid. I was told he was at their other location and they would have him call me the next day. Other location? 4pm the next day, I call up there and said I still haven't heard back. I was told that Staysha (not sure on the spelling) was on vacation until next week. I explained I wanted to speak to the dentist. We hung up and then I get a call back 10 minutes later because they were not clear on what I wanted. I explained my concerns and asked to speak to Dr McDavid again. They said a dental assistant would call me back. I said to them again, "I would like to speak to Dr McDavid. If I had these questions while I was in the office, I would have asked him. I didn't think of them until afterwards and I would like to speak to him. I would feel more comfortable." They said ok and he would call me back. 20 minutes later, a dental assistant calls me back. Really? I said I had asked to speak to the dentist 3 times. Thank you for calling and I hung up. I had to scheduled an appointment with another dentist and requested my records to be transferred so I can ask my questions. Sadly, when I called Stonebridge to ask for my dental records to be released, I had to fill out a form. The form they sent me was their form requesting records to be sent to them. I called them back and told them they sent the wrong form. They asked me to cross out their name and write in the name of my dentist because they can't find the form. Ironically, Staysha answered the phone when I called back. Is it next week already? I don't know why I had such a bad experience. I don't know why they felt the need to lie about people being out of the office or on vacation. They have had numerous chances to correct/fix this issue with me and they haven't. I think I have given them enough chances. If you go there, I hope you have better luck! read more

This practice comes across as being friendly and understanding at first, then they start to over treat and bill, bill, bill, bill, bill. I went to Dr.Bolten for a painful tooth and went out being told I needed 8 crowns that really were not necessary. After he fixed my one tooth i went in for it still hurt and he said there was nothing he could do about it so treated all of my other teeth instead. PLEASE get a second opinion! There are many trustful dentist in McKinney. In addition, Stonebridge Dental prices are slightly higher than other reputable places in McKinney. BEWARE! read more
