Let's be honest: doctor visits in general and dental visits in particular aren't fun, but the attitudes and behavior of the doctor and staff can make it a lot more pleasant (or unpleasant). I recently had my first visit at Paragon Dentistry, specifically with Dr. Jason Hui, for a routine cleaning, and I'm very happy that I went to them. The hygienist, whose name I believe was Kathleen, was outstanding, and I made a point to make sure she'd be the one cleaning my teeth when I go back in six months. I didn't spend as much time with Dr. Hui because there was no need to, but he did a great job of explaining the examination and X-ray results and what I can expect on future visits. I'm very glad to have found this practice, definitely plan to go back, and certainly recommend them to others. read more

I would recommend Paragon Denistry to anyone looking for an excellent dentistry in the area. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. It's always a great experience from beginning to end. I went in for a deep cleaning and subsequent check ups, so I would say I've gone 3-4 times in the last year or so. I'm usually nervous going to see the dentist but I'm actually very comfortable now knowing I will be taken care of. I've been seeing Kathleen, and she's just super sweet, warm, and professional! A newer dental practice in the area, I was pleased with how attentive and concerned all of the staff are to anyone's needs. When I first scheduled an appointment, I was advised that their paperwork was available on their web site and could be filled out electronically in order to speed up the process when I first arrived. Kudos for helping to make the appointment go as quickly and smoothly as possible. Upon my arrival, I saw what appeared to be a neo-post modern, yet somewhat tradationalistic pattern of decor that epitomized what I quickly gleaned to be the subtle nuances of attention to detail that is found at this office. The waiting area includes a Keurig machine with available coffee, hot chocolate and teas, as well as bottled water and assorted dry sundries. I also observed some video game stations for children, as well as computer work stations and a television available for those who are waiting, as well as the usual reading material that you might find in any other establishment. The seating couches were quite comfortable and I was able to relax as I waited for the staff to prep my waiting room. Once inside, they took my x-rays with a portable machine and I would have to say that the assistants appeared to be quite well trained and attentive. Once seated, I was offered a warm neck roll, as well as my choice of television channels on a television on the wall; then, as I leaned back in the chair, I also noticed a companion television on the ceiling that allowed me to drift off without thinking too much. The hygienist, Hope, was very attentive, friendly and thorough. I was quite pleased with the job she did and would highly recommend you try to schedule yourself with her, if only to be regaled by her stories and wit. I then met Dr. Nelson Hui, who actually appeared interested in my thoughts; he then pulled up my x-rays and showed them to me on the television screens and pointed out what his thoughts were and discussed a treatment plan for me. I made several follow-up visits for various other issues, including a recommended nightguard and was able to also meet with Dr. Jason Hui. While he does seem to be the younger more vibrant persona of the office, I did not feel that it in anyway detracted from his professionalism. I was quite pleased to see that the two dentists (as brothers) worked quite well together and had put together an exceptional staff to see to my needs (even before I had even thought they were needs myself). The neo-existentialist in me will definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone who has teeth (and even if you don't, I'm sure they can provide you with quite excellent service). Until my next review, I hope my many yelper friends out in the yelpiverse strongly consider making Paragon Dentistry their location of choice. read more

From Tammy at the front desk to the end of my cleanings, Dr. Jason and his staff are flawless at Paragon. Dr. Jason was able to help replace my crown and the whole process was smooth with getting temporary and permanent crown. He talked and explained things to me as he was examining my teeth, which really helps me understand what's going on. He is very knowledgeable and provides great patient education about​ your condition, possible options, and really makes sure you're receiving the best treatment! They're very welcoming and do what they can to make you feel comfortable which helps with any anxiety people may have during dental visits. If you have dental phobia, here's a place for you! Right when I walked in, I was greeted by Tammy, one of the most sweetest receptionists. She quickly checked me in, verified all the info and even offered me a K-cup! As you walk over to the waiting area, you would have never thought you were at a dental office. The decor is extremely calming and soothing. (Also kid friendly! There's a videogame station for your kids, big and small, to play!) What I really enjoyed was that everything in this office is electronic. I was able to fill out paperwork prior to my appointment. So when I arrived, they already knew what my concerns were! Plus, what was really cool was that they had a portable digital X-ray machine! The assistant, Janice, and hygienist, Hope, were very welcoming and attentive to my needs. Dr. Jason very professional and caring. He explained everything to me, down to the last detail. He and the staff did a great job alleviating my dental fears and did not make me feel "small" when I needed clarification. They valued my time and took really good care of me. I love how they have many patient education models and even showed me my X-rays while explaining treatment. You could tell that Dr. Jason had my best interests at heart. My Visit to Paragon was outstanding. My Mother worked as a dental assistant for 40 years and I always went to the dentist she worked for. I was always afraid to try anyone new since this was all that I knew. When my Mom finally retired I knew I had to find a dentist closer to home. I chose Paragon as a referral from a friend of Dr Hui's. Visiting Paragon was nothing like i have ever experience at a Dentist before. As you wait there are massage chairs available to help you relax and once you are back they have a TV on the wall and a TV on the ceiling to keep your mind off what is taking place in your mouth. My visit was painless!! My favorite part is the trust level. Dr Jason Hui took the time to explain to me what he suggested services needed to be done in a way I could understand. The BEST part was their insurance dept explained in detail what was expected to be paid out of pocket so there were no surprises after service was completed. This was my first time visiting a dentist and I was very nervous and scared at first but the staff at Paragon Dentistry made sure my first time would not be frightening. They were very attentive and patient and they will cater to your problems and your needs. They will take their time to work on your teeth. Hope, their hygienest did a very good job in cleaning my teeth! Dr. Nelson was very kind and informative. He also checked back with his patients every now and then to make sure we were doing well. Here's my update for Paragon Dentistry - one year and many visits to the dental office later. Tammy is so awesome to communicate with! We could go on and on about hairstyles and wedding stuff when there's no patients waiting. Oh, and she rocks at her job too - whether I was going through a more complicated dental treatment plan or a simple cleaning, she explains all insurance information to me clearly and accurately. I've only trusted two dentists in my life and Dr. Jason is easily one of them. He too explains what he's doing thoroughly and what's going on with my mouth. I've been through some of the more complicated procedures with him, such as prepping a crown for me. Pro: His shots rarely hurt. Still uncomfortable but much better than I've had in the past. He listens to any concerns I have and seems very thorough in his work. Janice is phenomenal. She's super sweet and also easy to talk to. The whole team demonstrates care from their personalities, personal TV, kids area with computers, and the massage chair room. When I intended to study while relax one day, I ended up taking a quick nap on the chair. I guess that could be my only negative comment is that they discouraged my ability to study! read more

Let me start my review like so many others, I hate dentists. Ok, maybe that's not true, it's periodontists I have a problem with (because they've ripped off my mother with unnecessary work), but dentistry is dentistry, or so I thought. My wife came in for a cleaning a few weeks ago and had a great experience. I hadn't been to the dentist in awhile. The hygentist asked when my last cleaning was and we didn't start in years, but rather with decades (hey, but to be fair I use a Sonicare and a Waterpik daily). With all that said, here are the observations from my first visit. 1) The office staff are outstanding. The receptionist knew and called me by my preferred name as soon as I walked in. This place doesn't feel like a dentist office. Maybe a high end eye doctor, but not a dentist. The technician who did my x-rays was great to work with and the hygentist was very knowledgeable. They even showed and explained the x-rays to me in a way I could understand. 2) The dentists themselves are genuine. Genuine? That's a weird comment for a dentist right? I met both dentists, as they are brothers. We had a long discussion about my sleep apnea (he even knew a doctor who could help since I'm new to the area and have yet to get in with a sleep doctor here) and then a discussion about a link between alcohol consumption and gum disease. I'm not walking out and never drinking again, but that was not something I had ever considered and at the very least, made me stop and think. They were clearly experts in their field, but knew how to break it down so the general public can understand what's going on with their oral health. I'll include the hygentists on that as they're equally skilled at this craft. 3) This isn't a typical dentist office. They didn't try to upsell me on anything. Even in the inital questionnaire, they acknowledge that most people don't like dentists and ask about past bad experiences so they can work to chance the perspective for good. Their equipment is extremely modern, second to none really. They're genuinely trying to bring credibility back to field that has a general bad rep. And I respect them for that. This is definitely worth a shot if you haven't been to the dentist in a while or happen to be new to the area or aren't happy with your current dentist. I highly recommend these guys and their team. I moved to Dallas from Canada almost six years ago and have tried out a fair number of dentists in the DFW Metroplex for my routine cleaning.  The experiences I have had at each dental practice were so horrendous that instead of conveniently visiting a dentist in Dallas, I waited for my yearly visit home to see one. I had pretty much given up on finding a dentist in Dallas until a few friends raved about Paragon Dentistry.  Alas, I decided to give them a try. Upon making my appointment for a cleaning, I was sent electronic documents to fill out for my patient profile.  This proved to be very efficient and convenient.  All doctors should do this.   When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by a very friendly and efficient receptionist.  I was almost immediately taken to a room at the back for my exam and cleaning.  The room was very clean and comforting.  There were also two TVs for the patient's viewing pleasure.  One TV was mounted on the ceiling so that the patient would not have to strain to watch the screen.   Very thoughtful. The hygienist, Rachel, began my exam with a series of x-rays and then proceeded to clean my teeth.  She was friendly, thorough, and professional.  This was the first time that my teeth have felt clean after a cleaning in Dallas!!  Dr. Nelson Hui came in to see me after my cleaning was done and explained the x-rays to me.  He also thoroughly explained any possible concerns and treatment plans.  Dr. Hui was very personable and professional. I returned the following week to get my teeth whitened.  The technician, Janice, was wonderful.  She explained the procedure thoroughly and checked on me every 5-10 minutes to make sure I was well. I highly recommend Paragon Dentistry to anyone who expects quality treatment and a practice that genuinely cares about proper dental health.  Will be back for my next cleaning! read more

This place was great from the time Jessica and Tammy helped me schedule my appointment. I'm sure everybody here is great, but I had Desiree (sorry if I spelled your name wrong, it's a tricky one) as my Dental Hygienist and she was fantastic. Very gentle and pain free cleaning especially for having to do a scaling - those are usually NOT fun. Dr. Jason came in and explained the x-rays to me and I felt like he was very thorough and made plenty of time to answer my questions, I did not feel rushed at any point of this. The only thing I'm a little bummed out about is that Jessica and Desiree forgot to remind me to pick a prize from the prize chest. I'm pretty sure they owe me a plastic dinosaur. read more

Since my previous dentist is over 50 miles' drive from my home, I've been looking for a good local dentist. I chose Paragon Dentistry in Allen based on the positive Yelp reviews, and was able to get an appointment within 24 hours of emailing them. As other reviewers said, Tammy, the office manager, is extremely warm, kind, and easy to work with. I ran into some roadblocks getting my dental insurance info to her, and she just took care of everything, making me feel very comfortable in her care. She and Dr. Nelson were very communicative via phone and email, and filling out patient information on a computer in the waiting room was quick and easy. Inside the office a cool coffee-house style Pandora music channel was playing, and there's a relaxed atmosphere. Janice, the dental assistant, was awesome, getting me through the x-rays, chatting comfortably, and answering any questions I had. She was curious and enthusiastic, and made me happy I chose this office. Likewise, Rachel, the hygienist, was attentive and knowledgeable, and made me feel I was in good hands. ***The reason I came in, other than for a regular checkup/cleaning, was that I've had sharp pain in two lower molars when I'm eating or if anything touches those teeth directly.*** Rachel discussed the x-rays with me and showed how nighttime grinding combined with acid reflux was wearing my molars flat and reducing the enamel. Oddly, my consultation with Dr. Jason was the least impressive part of my visit. Maybe I was a little thrown off that he made a joke about how he never works with Asian doctors "because I can't understand them" (and Dr. Jason appearing to be Asian American himself didn't help me understand why he was laughing). When I complimented his brother, Dr. Nelson, for emailing me so quickly, Dr. Jason remarked that Dr. Nelson was "single" and "has no life." I brushed these comments off, but my impression of Dr. Jason as immature and overconfident grew even stronger as we talked. Dr. Jason repeated all of the information Rachel had already told me, and then asked a series of leading questions about my sleep habits. He said he believes I have sleep apnea, causing the acid reflux and grinding issues, and I realized he may be right. I don't have a problem with his professional opinion, but he seemed intent on putting words in my mouth about symptoms of sleep apnea, and everything I answered he sort of morphed into more evidence of sleep apnea. He asked if I had "any place to be," because he wanted to talk more about sleep apnea. I didn't want to miss out on crucial health information, but it turned out to be more academic interest (I wondered if he was writing a paper or something). Even worse, Dr. Jason dismissed my concern about the tooth pain!! He said the x-rays didn't indicate any exposed nerves, so I should just keep using sensitivity toothpaste. He said he didn't want to worry about that now, and wanted instead to hear about the results of the sleep study. The most disconcerting thing was that Dr. Jason claimed that once I'm diagnosed and get treated for sleep apnea, all my other health concerns (frequent migraines, acid reflux) -- will "go away." I imagine that if he's right about sleep apnea, treating it will definitely help in numerous other ways. But promising that it would eliminate any other issues? This seemed like a bold claim from someone who wasn't exactly listening to what I was saying. Do I recommend Paragon Dentistry? I'd say yes, with the caveat that it would be best if you only need routine cleanings and will work primarily with the assistants/hygienists. If you have any concerns beyond that, I'm not sure I'd recommend Dr. Jason. He's so sure of himself, he might overlook something important. read more

After researching many of the dentists in Dallas, I decided on Paragon Dentistry, as the reviews here on Yelp and Google were extremely positive. In light of COVID-19, my first appointment did get pushed back, but I received frequent emails keeping me up-to-date on the situation. Furthermore, I appreciate all of the new patient forms being digital and easy to fill out. The office itself is clean and neat, and has plenty of parking in front. Again with COVID-19, the staff at Paragon were professional and took all the necessary precautions including taking my temperature. I was then introduced to my hygienist who then took x-rays and photos of my teeth and mouth. She was very thorough and explained that they like to have a starting point and detailed records to track my dental health. The general cleaning went quick without hassle. Next, the dentist came in, introduced himself, and explained the overall status of my teeth using a monitor mounted above me. The technology that Paragon uses is second to none which I truly believe leads to healthier teeth as they are able to do their job even more efficiently and effectively. In the end, my teeth felt and looked brand new when I walked out and I could not be happier with my visit to Paragon Dentistry. I was in need of a new dentist because I lost faith in the one I'd been visiting since about 2002. I basically took a chance and picked one that's close to home, and walked in to Paragon Dentistry. When I walked in, I was surprised that the waiting area was very comfortable. They have computers and games for kids while in the waiting room and a wide variety of drinks available. What really took the cake was Tammy. She is very polite, professional and caring. Her personality is what really convinced me to give Paragon a shot. She made the paperwork process super simple. She's very accommodating and friendly and I have never been treated so kindly at a dental office. The x-ray process was a snap and Jason Hui took a lot of time to go into as much detail as I wanted. Being in technology, I like details. He was certainly willing to deliver. I hate cleanings, but I agreed to have one and set it up for my 2nd visit. I was again surprised. Minimal discomfort which was a lot less than my previous cleaning done while in the military where pain is of no concern. The cleaning was done in no time and turned out much better than I expected. There are TVs mounted on the ceiling so you can take your focus off of the work being done, which is another nice touch.
