It has been a long time since I saw a dentist. Mostly because as my kids were growing up I made…read moresure they saw the dentist, and I only went when necessary. Last time I went to a dentist the hygentist kept shaming me saying if you only had your teeth cleaned more often and other comments like that. I was in no hurry to repeat that experience. I was pleasantly pleased that no one made any kind of remark and understood that some people just can't get to the dentist or afford one. So I went in with a lot of trepidation but the staff made me feel comfortable, they had a comfy chair and Netflix to watch. They took exrays which was a lot different than the last time I was at a dentist. Modern upgrades making it more comfortable, quicker and easier. Then came the teeth cleaning. Last time I had my teeth cleaned they used metal scrapers that hurt so this was done by laser I think. Mostly like a lot of water and air blown onto the teeth, but I could feel the chips of tartar in my mouth like sand. Both the ladies thoroughly explained everything they were doing and why. There was one area of my mouth that they felt I needed a deep clean but they could not say if my insurance would cover the deep cleaning and I can't obligate my small budget to more payments than I can afford. They didn't pressure me but just did the cleaning that my insurance does cover. I then saw Dr. Yew who is absolutely delightful! I asked him why he chose a dove as his business name and logo and he explained he is a Christian and it is the symbol of the Holy Spirit! As a Jewish believer I too have a thing for the Holy Spirit but Doves have a special meaning in my relationship with the Lord and I told him that the good reviews here and the Dove were the reasons why I chose his office. So much to my surprise with years of neglecting dentist visits I didn't have a mouth full of cavities waiting to be filled. I do however, have old fillings and a few crowns that he suggested I might want to change out since they have been in my mouth for decades. I'm 72, so these teeth have served me well for many years. I do have one filling where the side broke off years ago that he said is one popcorn kernal from the next break. He has a great sense of humor and did not pressure me in any way. We decided to see what the insurance will cover and go from there. My next cleaning appointment is in 6 months and I am quite happy with the whole experience. Yeah I could throw a lot of money into my mouth to fix teeth, but my smile is not bad, and I'm 72, if I was in my 40's looking at another 40 years of life it might be worth it, but like I said let's see what the insurance will cover. I don't plan on going into debt for my mouth. The entire experience was great! All the staff were pleasant and helpful. For the first time in my life I loved going to the dentist!

It quickly became clear that the hygienist was inexperienced with children. My child complained of discomfort shortly after the cleaning began, and the hygienist even admitted that the equipment being used was not designed for kids--the cables were short and awkwardly elevated. I immediately asked to stop the exam. Dr. Paul Yew offered to do the cleaning himself, but I declined since the equipment itself did not seem suitable for children. Before leaving the clinic, I was given a written statement showing a $0 balance (see attached photos). However, several weeks later, I received a bill for $78. When I went back to the office to question the discrepancy, the staff said the charge was for X-rays. I explained that this was unfair because I was explicitly told there were no charges at the time of the visit. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, Dr. Paul Yew threatened to call the police on me if I did not leave the property immediately. This behavior was shocking, unprofessional, and unacceptable. Please think twice before bringing your family here.
