I am very disappointed with North Star Dental and dentist Pham. She is so incompetent and unprofessional. She was just doing a sales job instead of being a dentist. My routine cleaning appt.was at 2:30 pm. By the time I was called in, it was 3 pm. Everybody was so disorganized in that office. Pham came in and pushed for me to get X-Rays done even though I have already emailed them all the X-Rays that were taken 2 days ago from my orthodontist office. I told her I went to see him for my root canal that was infected..she was pestering me to replace my root canal with her. I reminded her that I just came here for a routine dental cleaning only. After that, she started pushing for me to get deep cleaning instead of routine cleaning even before measuring my gum pockets. I told her again, I just wanted routine cleaning. She did not stop...she asked one of the front desk staff to check with my insurance on deep cleaning. By now, it's 4 pm already and nothing has been done to clean my teeth. One of the staff came in and told me that it will cost me $281 out of pocket to do deep cleaning on the left side of my mouth and that Pham will take 45 mins to 1 hr to complete the deep cleaning. After that she will take another 30 mins to finish routine cleaning on the right side of my mouth which was fully covered by my dental insurance. Finally, Pham came in to do the deep cleaning at around 4:15pm and she was done cleaning the entire mouth in 30 mins. I immediately told her that I was very disappointed with the cleaning she did. It did NOT feel like deep cleaning or routine cleaning. All my previous routine cleaning lasted at least 45 mins to 1 hrs. I have done deep cleaning in my younger days and it was nothing like this... This was what I expected when I signed up for deep cleaning on the left side of my mouth but the incompetent dentist Pham DID NONE OF THIS: 1. Measuring the gap between my teeth and gums with a periodontal probe 2. Inject local anesthetic into your gums to ensure you don't feel any pain during the treatment. 3. Use a dental tool to remove tartar from BELOW your gum line. 4. It will take AT LEAST an hour to do half the mouth All she did was use a scalar tool and scraped my entire mouth without any pressure... Typically, you will feel your gums sore after a deep cleaning. All I felt was my teeth had not been cleaned and did not feel any soreness after her so-called deep cleaning either. It's a shame that North Star Dental has such an incompetent dentist like Pham. BTW, she was busy chatting with her assistant the whole time about her wedding, school and children instead of focusing on the patient during the so-called deep cleaning process. PLS DO NOT LET JENNIFER THO PHAM TOUCH YOUR MOUTH. SHE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENT. SHE IS ONLY INTERESTED IN RIPPING THE PATIENT OFF. Bad follow-up. After having had North Star as my dental service provider for the last 2 years, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. They recommended I get my wisdom teeth removed, and I've been following up with them for 7 months (Since Apr' 2022 till Nov 2022) now. First it was a lady called Tammy, and today, it was from a lady named Kennedy. After I called them 3 times, I received an email only to be told that the dates I had provided in the past were not available, and to provide new dates. I've had a decent experience with the things that should be expected at a provider, but in terms of following up and coordinating amongst the staff for a dental procedure, they are bad. Their mismanagement has cost me 7 months of time and I will not be taking my business to them henceforth. I hope this review helps another person reconsider going there. Thank you. read more

It's a hit and miss here. On the weekends they are much more faster and try to get you in and out. Plus they are a lot NICER during the weekends too. During the weekdays ummm not too much. They also don't give you all information when you get your plan (teeth work done). I had one price and when I came for the work it was a different price. Which I told her that she needed to give all that information in the beginning, which she failed. Also I need 3 fills and the front had only scheduled for 2. They need to pay more attention to detail at the front. The room had this odor, was kinda gross. I was very disappointed in how the experience went. The guy that did my fillings was a little too rough and made my cheek sore and puffy. I've had these done a few times and I could tell he was being a bit too rough. Never ever had puffy cheeks from a filling. Note to anyone make weekend appointments. read more

I cannot recommend this dental practice. I can't even bear the thought of stepping foot in the place again. The dentist on the sign out front is not who I ever saw. It's a crapshoot who you get, and I have a feeling that the gang of dentists who aren't on the signage don't have a lot of skin in the game and don't put 100% effort into their services. I had two old crowns replaced. Took two and a half hours. OK, I guess. But I came out of the chair somewhere between roughed up and brutalized. Gums were bruised and bleeding, cheek all torn up....plus the big gash left in my lip. Dr. Steiger said I must have bit my lip, but I think the bite block they used negates that theory. So the gash turned into a sore and the whole ordeal triggered a big cluster of cold sores. (Think the albino from The Princess Bride.) When I asked what I could do for that, she said, "Use some Chapstick!" Fast forward to a few weeks later getting the permanent crowns installed. Came out similarly violated, but not as thoroughly. I know they have to floss between the teeth to check the contacts, but it felt more like revenge flossing...like over and over and over, right down slicing into my gums. Never before have a thought, "Son of a b&%$C!" so many times during a dental procedure. So take it for what it's worth....that's my experience at North Star Dental. Would not recommend. read more

Dr Pham is very professional, compassionate, and caring person I went in for a simple annual check expecting a clean up and perhaps a filling of one of my teeth. But she found that I had to get an extraction which as you all know is a very painful and intimidating procedure. However, Dr Pham and all her personnel were very gentle and patient with me, she took the time to walk me through step by step and ensured that I was comfortable before she proceeded. She walked me through the cost and even gave me a discount! I would recommend her practice any time to anyone. I give her five stars. read more

The last time I went I ended up getting COVID two days later. They had me with my mouth wide open for a couple of hours while they went back and forth working on other patients. It was very disorganized. I had gotten a crown there before too and it has bothered me since I got it. I had to go back to get it fixed but it still bothers me. Today was my first appointment. I was scheduled for 4pm. I scheduled time off work and got there right before my appointment. I waited half an hour to be taken to the back. I then proceeded to wait another hour to not get seen. All I was told was that the dentist was occupied. I walked out. An hour and 30 mins to not get seen. Understandably, I was upset. I get a call from the office about two hours later (who knows how long it took them to see that I was gone) with a weak apology. As a first time patient you would think they would try to make a positive impression. DON'T GO HERE if you value your time. an apology won't get you your evening or weekend back. It's been really hard to find a RELIABLE/ consistent dentist. Usually, most dentists are quick to get new patients in right away. After about 2-3 visits, it's hard to get an appointment. For a while, I accepted the idea of switching dentists every 12-18 months. So far, this may not be the case with North Star Dental. Every time I've had to come in for an appointment, they have immediate availability. I'm not making appointments 2-3 weeks out. The place is easily found on Renner (close to North Star) on the same side with the car wash and Starbucks. (It's actually between those two landmarks) The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about teeth and products. Historically, I've needed deep cleanings- where other dentists would have to numb my gums. Not here! They were able to do regular cleanings. They are careful and pay attention took to every detail. The office is extremely proactive about calling, texting or emailing you about reminders to make an appointment. I've been here quite a few times and it's always a pleasure. Check them out! Wait! No! Don't come here! I don't need to start fighting for appointments! LOL read more

UPDATE ... I am disenchanted with North Dental. On two separate occasions I have requested a copy of my, and my husbands account with them, and twice now there has been no follow through. It has been my experience with other dentists, that having such a difficult time getting a copy of my account only means I have a credit balance. I wonder if they are aware that it is against Federal law to withhold excess monies on patient accounts?! read more

Some years ago, this office was a single dentist office with a stable staff. Now, dentists (and hygienists) rotate in and out and typically stay a few months to a year. The dentistry is substandard and by the time you figure out that a particular dentist does shoddy work, they're gone. My experience with the dental filings done here is that you can only expect them to last 1 to 3 years, versus the 10 year average for an office that does quality work. They guarantee their work for 6 months, so don't expect any support when your dental work fails after a year or two. Find a better office to care for your teeth! read more

The office recently made me a night guard that hit only on my back teeth. Wearing it just two nights caused me new, intense pain in my jaw, difficulty speaking, and difficulty eating even soft foods like grilled cheese for two weeks. Since then, I've been very comfortable using a homemade guard from Amazon that makes contact with more of my teeth. I have been satisfied with cleanings and fillings from this dentist, but they don't stand behind their work with night guards, so I would not trust North Star Dental to make any sort of device involving impressions for me in the future. read more

I gave it 1 star for the customer service, which i didnt approve of having the dental assistant at the front desk blurt out my personal business while I was sitting there with two other patients in the waiting room. I arrived 5 min late to my appointment and she said in a loud voice from the front desk while I was sitting in the waiting area "(my name) ! the next time you arrive late we'll have to fine you $25." *are you serious? for 5 minitues? The other two patients looked at me like she was crazy but i felt embarassed that she would speak to me that way. She could've called me over to the front desk to discuss such a matter. What a BITCH. I honestly dont know if it was a racial matter because I was the only woman of color in the office at the moment but I did not approve of her behavior. North Star Dental is one of the best dental offices that I have been to in a long time. They have a great team and they are very efficient and helpful. The Office Manager, Michelle was very informative to all of my questions from sign up to billing. The Dental Hygienist, Sylvia was very knowledgeable and helpful with all of my questions as well. She kept me very claim through my teeth cleaning process. It really does help when someone can be attentive to a person when they are nervous about dental work. I would recommend anyone to come see Sylvia for any dental hygiene work on their teeth. The Dentist, Olga was very informative as well. After 10 years of great work by Dr Moore and his staff, I will never come back after yesterday's debacle of an appointment. I would never have expected this from such a great dentist office. My appointment was at 1130am and was brought back at 1145am. Took my blood pressure and asked if any medical changes occured since last visit then left saying someone will be with you in a few minutes. I waited for 25 minutes and finally got up and left. No call or anything after the fact. The front desk was rude and unprofessional. I did not even recognize any of the staff from my last visit 6 months prior. First thing is i haven't been to the dentist since I was like in middle school. So, when I went to my insurance and found this dentist I booked my appointment. When I got there, the environment was amazing! I was greeted by Michelle and she took all my information. I told her it was my first time and she smiled and said "we will take good care of you here" she explained everything to me. Then I went on back and meet Tara OMG!! she was great I told her it was my first time and she took really good care of me she explained how the x-rays work fyi their x-ray looks like something out of a sci-fi movie pretty cool. Tara was great cleaning my teeth she explained everything on what she was doing. She made me laugh to bring down my nerves. After all the cleaning I meet Dr. Brown She was very nice and funny i loved it. She explained everything that happened and went into more detail about my teeth and answered all of my questions. I had some good laughs with everyone it really changed the way i thought about dentist offices. After I got done with the Dr. I went back to Michelle and she gave me my break down of the insurance and gave me a big surprise. She said I did not have to pay for anything because you have dental insurance the cleaning was Free $0 I was so excited. I needed to have a wisdom tooth extracted and I mistakenly chose this house of horrors. The gentleman who performed the extraction ended up straddling my chair, while the hygienist looked on, not sure what was happening, and proceeded to rock my tooth back and forth for over 40 minutes to get it out. He broke a piece of my tooth during his attempt and had to start the process all over. "I'll just give you a few minutes before we start again," he said. I was given one shot in my gum line to "help with discomfort" and it helped in no way. After returning home and following their recommendations for post treatment, antiseptic rinse, packing with gauze until the gaping wound began to heal, etc., I developed an infection which I had to go and see a real doctor about. Fast forward two months, I get a bill in the mail from this outfit stating that I still owe them $130 that was not covered by my insurance. When I called into the office to ask about the bill, the woman that answered the phone had been instructed to let me know that if I didn't pay the remainder that I would be sent to collections, and ended the call with, "I'm sure you understand, sir, it's not a difficult concept to grasp." At no point was I rude with her (she answers a phone for a dental office, her life is most likely miserable enough) but the entire experience, down to settling the bill, was a nightmare that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Please be careful before taking a chance with this company and ask to see some credentials before sitting down in the chair, by the time you've done so, it may be too late and you've already put yourself at risk. read more

Went there yesterday for a cleaning, which they didn't do, and to address a major tooth ache. They explained my situation and estimated my bill to be $8000. Wrote me prescriptions for an antibiotic and pain meds until I can start the work next week. Wrote me prescriptions for someone else. Nearly ended up in jail at the pharmacy and now the office will not call me back to fix this issue. Still in a lot of pain. I bet if I was calling to hand them over money they would pick up the phone. My suggestion is to not go here. They obviously do not care about their patients. read more

I have been going here for 5 years and only have wonderful things to say about the staff and the dentist. They are always happy to work me in and have on many occasions. I have had multiple procedures, crowns, root canals, fillings. My favorite part is he doesn't use the traditional needle/syringe to give novocaine. I don't know what it's called but it is almost painless and I would say magic. It's a small tiny pump you don't really feel and is applied a few times. I don't think I could ever go back to a traditional style. The cleaning is great and I love the leave on fluoride they use that allows you to eat immediately. I just went to this location today as a new patient and was blown away by how nice they were. More importantly, I truly felt like they had my best interests in mind. The previous dentist I went to wanted to do a deep cleaning and pushed for me to get my wisdom teeth out, approximately potentially costing $1000... So I ended up at North Star Dental for a second opinion. They said deep cleanings are a grey area in the field of dentistry, with some locations pushing for it and others being more conservative. They told me that a deep cleaning wasn't necessary and offered some tips on flossing/brushing. They also did not push me to get my wisdom teeth extracted, but simply educated me on the pros and cons of doing the procedure at my age (24) when problems have not arisen yet. I greatly appreciated their kindness, honesty, and consideration of my finances. read more

My children and I went there for years, and the service was about like any other dental office. However, i had a cleaning scheduled, and THEY set the date. Well, they set it it TOO SOON for the insurance to pay for it, since they only cover 1 in a 6 month period. I didn't set the date, THEY did, so it was THEIR mistake. I told them I was upset that their mistake cost me EIGHTY DOLLARS, and asked for a refund. They refused. I told them I wouldn't be returning. Sad that they lost a loyal patient and all our future business over $80 they should have refunded due to THEIR own error. So, I had insurance that would have paid for a dental cleaning, instead their error cost me $80. NICE!. Smh. read more

I had a cracked tooth that I had neglected. I went here for a 2nd opinion on what I needed done and everyone was extremely nice and helpful. Dr. Brown is awesome! She explained what was happening with my tooth and didn't push me to get other (much needed) work done. She focused on what I came in for...my cracked tooth. (The dentist that I had seen before going here was not even sure they could save my tooth and were more focused on other things I needed done.) Dr. Brown was very confident that she could save my tooth and we scheduled a root canal. Fast forward to today, I had my root canal done by Dr. Brown and Gloria was her assistant. My case was VERY difficult due to infection in my roots. Dr. Brown and Gloria were great with keeping me calm and walking me through every single step. I honestly can say that as much as a root canal is not fun, my entire experience here was top notch. Every single person at this business is wonderful. I recently chipped a tooth. I called their office, and they were very accommodating. I had a teeth cleaning originally scheduled for the following week. They were able to fit me in right away, get my teeth cleaned, and Dr. Brown put a filling in for my chipped tooth. They were very efficient. The hygienist and staff were really nice. The office is always clean. They have all of the latest technology. I've been going to this dentist office for over 4 years. No complaints. I highly recommend them. read more
