I live across the street from here and have to limit myself from going in because I am bound to find something! I started shopping here when pregnant and my daughter is now a year old. I have found lots of cute clothes, shoes, as well as toys, books, and equipment. Staff is friendly and always helpful. The store is very well-organized and easy to shop in. They have a play area for kids. Easily the best consignment store in Seattle and I have been to many of them. They are very particular with what they purchase and their prices are the same, if not better, than other consignment stores. Nothing worse than buying something and getting it home to realize there is a stain you didn't see at the store. You won't have that problem here. The racks aren't jam packed either like other consignment stores. I have brought in items for store credit on several occasions. Don't expect to get a lot but then again, you don't have to wait for your items to sell so factor that into the price you are offered for your items. I love Childish Things! I've found many cute pieces and outfits in great shape (or new) for a fraction of the cost I would have paid new. Recently, I bought an infant Polo jacket for $16 which is absolutely adorable. The store is layed out nicely. I've never walked our empty handed! This review is strictly for being a buyer as opposed to a consignor. I'd been in here a few times to browse for my kiddo. But, at the time, I'd go in for short trips because I had to carry him around. The current store is somewhat too cramped to be using a stroller. Looks like they're moving across the street in August, so I'm hoping there will be more space for strollers. Today I stopped in because, well, my front and back sides aren't adequately covered by my current clothes. I had to face the fact that I need maternity clothes. As I was going through the racks, I couldn't believe how many great finds that I was draping over my arm. I really expected to maybe like 2-3 things. The toys on the shelf kept my little guy distracted while I shopped. Pricing seemed really good to me, and there were a lot of well-known brand names in the mix. I ended up trying on about 10 different items, and I decided to buy about 7 of them. I don't even think that ever happens on a normal clothes shopping trip. Today was a nice but kind of warm day. It felt nice and cool in the store. There's nothing that wants me to GTFO of a store more than it being warmer inside than it is outside. So, that won points for me. There is a great little play area for the kids located next to the shoes. Speaking of shoes, I'll definitely come back here if the kiddo needs shoes. The pricing was good and they had a nice selection of shoes for all types of weather. Sometimes it's annoying when you want to prepare for future weather/seasons and the stores only have selections for the current or next season only (e.g., it's summer and they only have summer and fall collections). If all goes well, I'll be coming back here to shop for my next little one. I did see a lot of cute stuff. My current little guy has way too many clothes and toys. But if you don't mind spoiling the youngster in your life, this shop has a great selection of new and used clothes, toys, shoes, and more. 6/15/18 Update: I can now say I've sold items here. I always thought it was a consignment shop, but learned today it is not. They buy direct. Having been through this at another store (which shall remain nameless because I think the owner is shady and that shop is an armpit compared to this one), I was hopeful for a good return. I had about 13 items, many new with tags and from brands that were listed on the business's web site. They took most of the items, one of which was nearly new and costs a bit more than $150. My offer was around $50 or $75 store credit. Yes, ouch. But, when I think about it, I could have let this pile of old baby stuff rot in a pile and get ticked off at "buyers" who say they're interested only to never be heard from again. I accepted the credit and was told I could switch to getting cash at a later date. Overall, I was satisfied with the experience. They were nice and very quick. read more

I got my daughter the next sized shoes, a winter coat, and some pants here recently - and I was glad to see that there wasn't just some options but many gently loved clothes and shoes in her next size. We'll definitely be back. Kids grow up so fast, and we're having to purchase our toddler different sized things every four or six months. I stopped in this afternoon to look around since it's kinda in my neighborhood. As other ppl have said, this place is very organized and well laid out. The maternity clothing selection was okay - I picked up a cute top from Gap Maternity. It seemed like most of the clothes in my size (M/L) were Old Navy Maternity, but there were a few other name brands too. I found a super cute little lavender sleeper set for our friends' new little daughter for $3 - brand new with tags! They had a nice selection of baby/mommy books and lots of great looking baby/kids clothes. I liked that they had a clearly marked bathroom and fitting/baby changing room. They also had a little TV in the shoe room if you want to distract your little one whilst you browse. I'll have to call back and find out when the best day is to come in. YES!! Finally, a consignment store that doesn't smell like old socks!! Today was my first time in and I loved it!! The shop was very clean and organized and the selection was nice. I didn't feel as if I stepped into an over priced Thrift Store, but more like a nice boutique! They had fantastic labels such as Petit Bateau, Tea, Hana Anderson, Oilily...as well as tastefully selected labels like Gap and such. Really good stuff! Also, they had really good Maternity clothes. 7 jeans, MA, Japanese Weekend, Mimi Maternity. They also have new clothes and toys, too. Childish Things has a nice selection of new things if you're able to splurge but if you want to consign something nice and new do not bother. I have learned from experience. Try Kym's Kiddie Korner instead. They had one used skip hop bag for sell for 45 I think that retails for 75. My skip hop bag was new and retails for more than 75 and they offered me a few dollars. At least Kym's will give you half of what they will sell your item for. read more

The shop is so cute, welcoming and well organized... easy to find the section you're looking for... and it smells great! :) The staff was friendly and offered to put a piece of baby gear on a "wish list" for me that I could not find in the store, letting me know they'd call me if one came in. There's also a child's play area that's pretty reasonably sized that I imagine I'll use in the future. I went looking for maternity clothes. It wasn't a huge selection, but there was a decent amount of clothing in my size. I didn't find very much that fit my style, but I did find one sweater that I loved. It was a fair price based on how much it would have been at Pea in the Pod, although it wasn't incredibly cheap. The kids clothing seemed decently priced, and there was so much cute stuff! Selectivity is a good thing in this case. They have a lot of cute new items too and some gear that I can trust has not been recalled because of their stringent standards. (This is more than I can say for another shop I've visited). All in all, a great find! read more

I enjoy shopping here! It is so clean and organized--certainly more than some other consignment shops I've been to. They also have really great shoe sectioned and tons of new products as well. Yes, the consigned clothing prices seem higher than they ought to be, so it's a periodic splurge to buy here, but the wooden toy prices are great! I came here for cloth diapers. (It is hard to find cloth diapers in the Seattle area that aren't online!) They had a wide variety of gently used cloth diapers and a handful of new ones too. The sales staff was very friendly and extremely helpful. As a soon to be mom, with no idea how to cloth diaper or even what that would entail, I was completely confused. The lady at the counter came over and explained to me the varieties of diapers. She, herself, had not had children yet so was unable to explain it fully, but she brought over another staff member who did! The staff member patiently went over with me the ways a diaper would work. I'll admit, I'm still a bit confused, but I really appreciated her help! It probably will not all sink in until the baby is here and I'm learning myself ;) There were gently used G-diapers, Grovia, and Fuzzibunz when I went (I think) and they also carried prefolds. I would call ahead before checking out their cloth diaper stash to ask them about what they have in their store. I believe that they get different brands and sizes periodically. What a great shop! I love well-run small businesses. And this one gets two thumbs up! I found a stroller frame I was DESPERATELY searching for. Firstly, I'm thrilled they had it. For a fair price. Aaaand in perfect condition. Secondly, I'm happy they would hold it for me for 24 hrs since I had work the next morning. I'm also happy they called me back to confirm my hold promptly the next morning. And the staff was way friendly & courteous. The store was full of adorable & like-new products which I regret I didn't have time to look through. I will definitely come back & look again! What a cute shop! But I also know I probably won't be a regular seller here, because my usual cheapo Carter's type stuff isn't the kinda stuff they're looking for. But I don't take it personally! It's just business! Childish things is by far my favorite consignment store in the north end of Seattle. The store is well organized, clean and they do not try to cram too much stuff into the place, so browsing their clothes is actually pleasant. I have been to many other consignment stores in the area and their prices are very reasonable - on par if not better than others, especially given the quality of the products they carry. Nice maternity section as well - but not a lot of gear (cribs, stollers etc.). Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area or even driving a bit out of your way, if you are looking for some high quality used children's and baby items. read more

While I hope to never have critters of my own, everyone else seems to be doing this, so it's nice to know about consignment shops like Childish Things. All the clothes are arranged by gender and then by size, so it's easy to pinpoint your target area. I went in the store not necessarily needing anything in particular, other than two gifts, so it was fairly easy for me to find something. I imagine, though, if you went in there with a set notion of what you want, you'd be hardpressed to find what you needed. But, I was lucky enough to just be able to peruse at will. One of my nephews bday gifts this year will be ab adorable hooded cotton sweater with a polar bear on it from this very shop for $9. In addition to plenty of cute kids clothes, they have plenty of other things to look through...a matching set of Ikea kids curtain sheers for $5, new in plastic wrap Pottery Barn crib sheet set for $15, strollers, plush things, tutus, maternity wear, books, etc. I proudly consider myself to be a savvy shopper, so I gag when i hear about dresses for 2 year olds that cost $60 or plastering your child in brand new, full cost Ralph Lauren....Buy It Second Hand, people! I think people are getting too offended about what they pay out for stuff they want to sell, but here's the thing: the store has to make money too!!! Hello ladies! Don't be so sensitive! If you want to sell your stuff here, know a couple things before going in: They are VERY picky about quality of goods and brands! Take your beat up hand me downs to goodwill or join your local buy nothing group! Store credit is always a better deal than cash You have the option to consign your stuff rather than sell it to them and this option can get you more $$$. They are way more into wood toys than plastic Keeping all this in mind, it's true that this store is more geared for the buyer rather than the seller, but there's no harm in trying. It's really a great store and you can find such good deals on both kids stuff and maternity clothes. I bought a ton of clothes there when I was prego, all for a super good deal. I bought a pair of citizens for $16!! And a pair of page jeans for $11! They were both like new...seriously don't buy any maternity clothes for full price, it's totally not worth it. After my baby came I continue to shop here for him and still find great deals. Last week I bought a merlins Magic sleep suit for $16!! Hello!!! I am new to children's consignment, but love adult consignment so I thought I would try this place out. It has great reviews and they were doing a yelp deal that is $10 for $20. They also have an Entertainment Book coupon- $5 off $35 (can't use them together). Anyway, I went in search of a snow suit for a friend's baby and they had a great selection. They have great organization and reasonable prices. I even found stuff that was new (with tags). I have gone back twice to pick up more stuff, and I know this will be a store I shop at regularly when I have kids. read more

If you are a consignor consider it a 1 star: unless you live next door you will not get repaid of the gas to get there. And is not about the brands as someone previously stated (I brought high end brands, believe me) it is just that they don't pay a fair value. Period. If you are a buyer then consider 3 stars are if you want to buy: there is a vast assortment of everything (clothes, accessorize, toys) and clothes even for older age (10-12) even if you can find faded or stained items (so be careful). read more

I came here to sell some stuff from my kids...they only pick the best pieces, they'll gonna pay you about 1 or 2 bucks, or even less, and then resell it for 5, 6, 7 times more, I think is a bit greedy.Of course you can not expect to make money selling your used things, but they are pricey.I say that cause I came back some weeks later and I saw some of the things I've sold with prices that caught me by surprise! Don't consign here! Awful returns on clothes brought in, yet they will be marked up to top dollar in the store window the next day. As for purchases, try the dollar rack in the back or look for the markdown items but otherwise it's really not worth your time. Very expensive. read more

OUCH!!! The prices on the rack here are astronomical for consignment. What they offer you in pennies on the dollar of what they'll sell it for. I honestly can't imagine how this place stays in business except for they clearly have a very high profit margin. I went in to find maternity jeans, Old Navy USED jeans for $20, those were the cheapest on up to $60-$80. But then when I went to consign they wanted 2 pairs of my Gap jeans, one pair of Old Navy Jeans and a lovely wrap maternity blouse and were prepared to offer me... wait for it... $12 in cash or $16 in trade. This maybe isn't the typical review for what I purchased, but thanks to Jovan I had a very nice experience. My wonderful cat has lymphoma and is going through chemo. Following her treatment she is very fatigued, but follows me from room to room. I thought a baby carrier/harness would work so I could hold her close while I'm getting things done. Jovan was great. She helped me try on different types of baby carriers. She had great options for me, and thought outside of the box. Jovan was very sweet, and didn't make me feel like a nut for what I was shopping for. With her help we found the perfect carrier, and it works much better than I thought it would. Score! I just stumbled upon this place on my way home. Childish Things is a children's resale boutique off of Holman Road next to Luisa's and a ChickaLatte. Compared to other "crammed-to-the-gills" childrens resale stores, this boutique is a breath of fresh air. It is spacious inside with wide aisles which is GREAT if you're shopping with a stroller. There is a nice selection of children's clothes, hats and shoes from newborn to larger sizes. The racks are clearly organized by size. It looks like they are still building up their inventory, but they do have a few gently-used baby gear. They also carry new items like nursing covers and baby bottle stuff. I love shopping in places like this because you never know what you'll find! I found some goodies at bargain prices. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about this store. AMAZING selection- I seriously could pick 10 things every single time I go in there that I feel like I have to have. However, because my husband would not be impressed if I came home weekly with bags of clothes/shoes for our 21 month old I have to pare it down a little bit. The staff is super friendly- they always ask if there is something you weren't able to find and if so, they are willing to be on the look out for it and call you if one comes in. The shoe selection is huge- and they have a bunch of new things as well. The quality is great, brands are generally high end. This place is frustrating. They only buy/sell certain name brands regardless if they're cute or not. I'd rather go some place where they pick stylish clothes no matter the brand. I wouldn't waste your time at this consignment shop. I've gone in looking for car seats - told we don't sell those. I've gone in with Newborn and 0-3 month old clothing - some of which still had the labels and was told " we don't need any of your items." Now today, I bring in a bassinette which is just like "new" and barely get in the door and asked if I was selling it - I responded Yes and once again - "We don't buy those any more." Well I won't buy at this shop anymore either - you must have to know someone for them to provide customer service and actually buy the items you bring in! read more

I've been buying and selling here for years. I would have rated it 5 stars for a long time, but I've noticed some unfair pricing lately. On big items they follow the usual consignment payout (50% credit for what they'll price the item) but on smaller things like clothing they are selling items 3-4X the amount I received. I have been looking for my items on the floor after selling them and I was shocked to see some of the price tags. I think I will stick with selling only bigger items from now on. Also, their price points are way too high. I've seen brand new Hannah Anderson items at the outlet store selling for less than what Childish Things is asking for used (and visibily worn) HA items. Used shoes going for more than half of what they would cost used... Just not worth it. read more

I'm so lucky to have this place in my neighborhood! The items are all high quality brands and in excellent condition. Could i get something brand new for the same price at Target? Yes--but I'd rather a petit bateau piece for $10. Oh and i love the $1 basket of onesies! I haven't tried to sell anything to them so can't comment about that experience. But, I appreciate that they are picky about what they sell--I don't want to sort through stained jammies from big box stores to find the couple of good pieces.
