Chilango Taco has great prices and availability. The style is authentic but the tacos have way too much fat. I've eaten a lot of street food and tacos in LA and Mexico. The tortillas were oily & the carnitas taco had chunks of fat. The chicken and steak tacos were tasty. The side sauces were very good (red and green). I think this may have been an "off night" because it was pretty close to authentic except for the excessive use of fat. I'm thinking it was a new chef or something because all of the reviews are so positive. May try again on another day. read more

Chilango taco is the best tacos in Brooklyn. The tacos in sunset don't even compare. I love the vegetarian tacos because they put delicious fresh avocado on top of each taco. I've ordered their nachos and they were so good. The combination of nachos and their toppings are mouth watering. The pastor tacos are addicting you just want more. Solid taco joint. I will give two thumbs up. As a newly moved to the Sunset park neighborhood, I only heard about the neighborhood's reputation for good Latin American food options from both quality and price standpoint. And this place proved that it was all true. I had spicy pork, chicken and carnitas taco and all were fresh and delicious. My fav was spicy pork which was most flavorful of all. They gave me a citrusy green and spicy red sauce and both added more kick to the food. I go nuts with spicy so I loved the red one but average palate may find it a bit too much and prefer the green one, I guess. Crews were friendly and the place was clean and neatly maintained. They also cook right in front of you so it was good to see the freshness of ingredients. I will def come back to explore other menus. read more

This review is only for the tacos. These are some of the best tacos in Sunset Park. I ordered one fish and one ara. Both were good, but the star of the show was definitely the fish. I thought it would be a fried fish taco, but it was actually the most perfectly grilled and succulent salmon taco with like half an avocado on it! It's a little pricier than the other tacos but it's worth it. My boyfriend doesn't like anything with fish in it, especially salmon, but he loved this taco and said he would get one himself next time. His order was an Ara, Pastor, Enchilada, and Bistec. I tried the meat for all of them and they were also good. The Bistec was a little bland on its own, but with the green salsa it was amazing. These are my top 3 must try tacos: 1) Fish (w/ green salsa and lime) $4 2) Al Pastor $2.50 3) Bistec (also w green salsa and lime) $2.50 I can't wait to try everything else on their menu. As a Latino who has been eating Mexican food in each borough since birth, I can assure you, this place is going to be known the following: 1) exceptional taste, presentation, and quantity of the food packed into their tacos 2) great customer service both in person and over the phone 3) beautiful restaurant aesthetic, with a novela to watch as you wait for your food. 4) affordable prices. The taco prices as of 10/26/20 were the following: al pastor: $2.50, bistec:$2.50, carne enchilada:$2.50, ara/arabe: $3.00, pescado/fish: $4.00. We live nearby so we wanted to try each of the tacos so we could understand which meats were the speciality here. Here are our recommendations based on trying each one by itself without adding lime/salsa and then taking a bite with lime and salsa. The list is in terms of most favorite taco to least favorite: 1) Taco al pastor (to be fair I'm extremely biased and love al pastor - I was raised on it) 2) Taco de pescado/fish (and I HATE fish normally so this is huge! The flour tortilla it comes on is delicious.) 3) Taco ara/arabe/arabic (Very impressed! Never tried it and would absolutely get it again. Tastes even better with lime and salsa since the meat is dry. These come on flour tortillas.) 4) Tacos de bistec (great, but could be improved!) 5) Tacos de carne enchilada (The other reviews raved about these, but we found these to be average. Hopefully the chefs can take another look at the recipe they use for this meat) This restaurant seems to have opened in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and could really use some love here and Google maps. Entering the store, I was given the sense that I was in the streets of Mexico. The cart inside the store gave great vibes! But we are here for the tacos. To start off, I ordered four different kinds of tacos: Loganzina(Mexican Sausage), Suadaro(Roast Beef), Bistec(Steak), and Campechano(Mixture). To start off, the taco shells were crispy, held its structure perfectly and fresh!! Upon trying each of the taco, I was hit with hint of cilantro and radish in every bite I took. However, the key ingredient was missing! The seasoning on all four of the tacos was a big miss. While the steak was crispy and glistening; the Champechano meat was some of the driest meat I've bitten into. For my taste, it did not meet the standards. But the hospitality of the place, the service was a 7/10. Overall it was a 6/10 with the tacos missing the key ingredient of seasoning and flavor in each bite. read more

Hole in the wall type joint. Big neon taco sign got my attention. Tried the chicken taco the first time. Chicken breast was cooked right in front of me fresh. Simple toppings of onion and cilantro...offered a choice of green or red sauce and I wanted to try both. Red was SPICY and seemed to overpower the taco. Green was DELICIOUS. Served on double small tortillas. Went by another day and got the pork and the spicy pork. Spicy pork hit the spot more. Knew to get the green sauce. Overall, my new simple taco joint. Nice friendly people and I like that it's cooked right in front of you. read more
