I usually don't write bad reviews but the customer service at this restaurant was sberrible. I waited over 40 minutes for an appetizer and drink. I got my drink 20 minutes in and thought "okay I'll give them a few minutes. When I asked about my order they kept nodding at me but my order still didn't come out. It got to a point where I needed to leave so I asked for the check so as soon as I got my food I could go. I waited again for 20 minutes just for them to give me a check was only my drink and they said they couldn't make my food Because they were busy. Ive been following Chiflez on Instagram for a lil while now, they always have these stories where they pouring a mixed drink on slow-mo that looks super refreshing especially when u sweatin' bullets out here. My wife and I decided to change our regular spots and go check out Chiflez, mind you we already have our favorite Peruvian spot in the Heights and Venezuelan spot in Astoria but let me tell you something though, Chiflez is deff something special, they have dishes from diff countries in South America, their papa rellena, arepas and tajadas didn't disappoint at all, I am reconsidering my restaurant choices in the past after taking a bite of all the deliciousness this place has to offer. My favorite go to spot in the neighborhood. They serve some really delicious food. If you want to try some really good Colombian/ Ecuadorian food then this is the spot!!. Plus they have good happy hour deal. My only two problems are that they serve breakfast until 10 or 11 am even during weekends and that their current menu is solely in Spanish..it was really helpful for me, a non Hispanic, when they had both English translation on their menu. read more

Great hearty breakfasts at a very good price. My favorite breakfast in this part of Queens. Ecuadorian kitchen serving white arepas,stuffed potatoes, steak aplenty, salty chorizos, seasoned eggs. Staff is a little awkward with non-Spanish speakers at times but gracious and friendly. Throw in some pilot Spanish and be patient with their English and you'll do great. They just upgraded to thorough, bilingual printed menus with good photos so you can just point your way through the order pretty effectively. Their juices are amazing when in stock. I guess it just goes to show that they only use good and fresh ingredients that sometimes they are out an item. Always get the Ecuadorean condiments. Thees a TV of course, sometimes playing movies, sometimes Latin music. It's louder than I normally like but in this big space is somehow festive without hampering conversation. Fruit jar cocktails in mason jars were on point, excellent mixologist. We got the tostones and guacamole for appetizer, both very delicious! The tostones were light and not oily at all! This place was great! The food exceeded my expectations. I had the Ecuadorean ceviche de camarón and it was delicious! I also had the Ecuadorean churrasco, I took it to go but it was definitely amazing! Everything from the meat to the rice to the juice was amazing. The waitress that had my table was not very attentive to me, but there was another waitress who would see that I needed something and stop by and help me. Everything here is quite affordable and offers large portions ($12-16). Bf and I had the skirt steak with rice and beans, chicken stew with white rice, a cheese empanada and a beef empanada. Everything was amazing and delicious, the beef was juicy goodness, the chicken was moist and full of flavor. I doused the rice and beans with their scrumptious green sauce. Bf also had cafe con leche, which was far too sweet for my taste but he LOVED it. While everything was amazing, we had so much food left over we had to ask for it to go. Service was quick but these ladies here don't speak much English... I asked for a side order of rice and beans and she gave me another order of steak with rice and beans. Constant issues with ordering. Wether it be ordering coffee or just ordering the daily lunch specials. One time I spent a whole lunch break waiting for my food to come out. Went here last night for dinner with my husband. He's Greek I am Ecuadorian and I was craving Ecuadorian food. The restaurant is appealing to the eye. It is clean and doesn't look dated. The waitresses were friendly and accommodating. To open we had tostones with guacamole and an empanada de verde with cheese. Both very tasty. I had the encebollado which was delicious after I added lots of lemon (I'm particular with how I like it) and hot sauce. I would have like more yucca and onions but again it was yummy as was. My husband had a paella which he said was great. The portions were healthy. He had left overs. The reason we didn't give it 5 starts were the drinks. He ordered an original mojito which had no liquor and I had a sangria which was basically just wine, sugar and some fruit. We really couldn't complain this is a small restaurant not a full bar type place. We will be back for the yummy food. My boyfriend lives in queens and is always very skeptical with eating food in certain areas. Me on the other hand loves to try food from every place. Now this place chiflez is a mix between Ecuadorian food and Peruvian food. The restaurant itself isn't that big but it's good enough to feel comfy. We ordered takeout but the waitress still sat us down at a table and offered us a free shot of liquor. Hey who can turn that down ? So that was a plus right there. The food did take a little time but hey quality food does that to ya. Makes ya wait for deliciousness. I had some sort of beef with tomato sauce and rice it was freaking great. Although my boyfriend had been skeptical about it he smelled it and was like wow. We have to go back here, especially since he ordered food from another restaurant that same day and wasn't eating from chiflez. This place is a must go. Today we came to the Chiflez to try it's breakfast menu, I came with my husband and kind, the three of us really enjoy a good food so for us the breakfast is really important and Chiflez was a great experience to start our family day. My husband asked a Tigrillo, which is made with plantain, cheese, a bit of heavy cream which was good and my hubby enjoy it, my kid asked for Americano, which has eggs, home fries and sausage, he love it, and I asked for Tabla de Arepas, which has perico eggs, 2 fresh arepas with a bit of parsley mayo, it was fantastic. We ended our experience with their juices which are naturals, something that is not common to find, they have a good juices menu, many combinations that really are great to start a day, specially if you look for something light and delicious. If I recommend to try them? Of course, it a nice place, a nice environment but what I like the most is that these guys are giving their best to put delicious food on your table.
