Kyle was amazing! Before finding him, I went to two different computer "fix it" stores, and was told my Toshiba was toast. The charger input was knocked loose sideways HARD, and the plug input cracked and broke. I was told it had probably caused damage to the motherboard, and would cost too much to make it worthwhile to fix. Despite replacing the plug, the computer would not function, and nearly $1000 worth of new hardware sat in my office for over a year. I did not have the heart to throw it away, thinking SOMEONE would come up with an idea, eventually. I called Kyle on a referral, and he told me on the phone "this happens all the time", and the interior part can be replaced as a unit, or soldered to be fixed. I immediately climbed in the car and drove 35 minutes to get to his office in Chico. In less than FIVE MINUTES, he found the problem, fixed it by jiggering a bent wire not making a proper connection reached by the plug-in, and charged me $20 for the minimum service charge. Not only is he HONEST, he KNOWS HIS STUFF. Thank you Kyle for fixing my $800 laptop TWO service folks told me was "not worth fixing." So glad I didn't take it to electronic recycling!! One word, absolutely amazing! Heres my story, A simple night of gaming turns into a pure nightmare when I accidentally spilled a full glass of sugary tea upon my brand new macbook air that had yet to even reach a month old. Within five seconds the screen turned black and was completely unresponsive, i put it on a fan and checked it the next day, still nothing. I scoured the internet for computer repair to this extent and found chico computer clinic. I went down later that afternoon, computer in hand, and got a quote. The news was exactly what I thought. Worst case it was completely destroyed and would be more money to salvage whats left. They recommended and in depth cleaning to try to save its life and no more then 3 hours later I received a call that it was working perfectly and was ready to pick up. I cannot thank Chico Repair Clinic enough for there AMAZING services and incredibly fast turn around. For the most part I like these guys, and I go out of my way to support local businesses. There are a few minor problems with this second laptop I bought from them... may not be their fault but I would like to have known before I dropped a couple hundred $+. Right now I'm dealing with this : The power cord died on the first one, and now the same thing's happening with this one.. it's in and out. I told them last time I thought I might have stepped on the wire, but this time I'm pretty sure I didn't. I paid $20 for the last replacement (not bad), but that's 2 in a row. we'll see if they make good on this. I suspect they will. Two of the fellows are personable and helpful, but one is not quite up to speed on customer service. Technical knowledge is important, but if you want your business to fly, you've gotta have 'good will'. He wasn't nasty or disrespectful, he just stood behind the counter and stared at me. His reply to every question I asked was "It depends." I was pretty put off- but not enough to go to Best Buy... yet. They'll get more stars if they come thru. read more

I almost gave up having my laptop repaired, until I walked into "Chico Computer Clinic" and spoke to Kyle. I knew it was a faulty LCD cable that needed replacement, but all the previous shops said they would have to completely disassemble and diagnose, before ordering any part. I was feeling like a vulnerable customer who was being manipulated for maximum profit. Not so, with Kyle. Kyle listened to my diagnosis, and agreed that is was most likely a faulty cable. He did an immediate search, found the new cable (at the most reasonable price) and said he would call as soon as it arrived. He also presented a flat service fee (up front) to do the installation, no matter how much time was involved. A few days later, he called to say the part had arrived. I dropped off the laptop on a Sunday morning, (around 11:00 a.m.) and Kyle called about four hours later to say it was ready. It has been several months now, and everything is still working fine. As new in Chico I had issue with my laptop last semester and Chico Computer Clinic was the place that was open on Sunday. I had virus that completely froze my computer, not allowing me to excess any folder nor internet. Kyle was very friendly and not only he took my laptop, but in first 5 minutes he told me what was wrong with it. Diagnostic is free, and before Kyle starts working he will give you a call and check with you if that! His fixed rate for virus removal is only $49! Before the end of a working day I've got my computer back with all information on it. Last week I had another problem with blue screen and once again I've got my laptop back very fast working great! Every time I've needed help with my iphone these guys have done a great job. First time I went was because my phone wouldn't hold a charge. It turned out that I needed a new battery. They gave me a new one in less than 20 minutes. The second time I had no idea what was wrong with my phone. It would turn off randomly and then turn itself back on. At first I thought it was still a battery problem, but after some time looking at the phone they came to the conclusion that the issue was a software problem. They actually spent their time and energy troubleshooting and diagnosing the issue and then helped me update it - for free. Sure, I could've updated it myself, but I didn't know my phone was acting up due to outdated software. They figured that out for me. They spent their time (and time is money!) helping me and didn't charge me for it. Sooo nice of them! I can't say enough nice things about these guys. Seriously great people. read more

I had a MacBook start freaking-out on me (freezing and unwilling to start-up) and tried to fix it on my own (thought to be a RAM issue). However, when replacing the RAM didn't solve the problem, I knew it was most-likely a serious issue with the motherboard. I took my Mac to the most-reputable and talked-about shop in town, Chico Computer Clinic, and let them know what was happening with it. Right away, Jeremy & Kyle soothed my worries with their "we'll jump right on it" positive attitudes and experience. Outstanding customer service. Chico Computer Clinic truly goes above and beyond the call of duty. Let me just start by saying that the owner, Kyle, is not only incredibly knowledgable and passionate, but he also seems to genuinely care about his clients. I reached out to Kyle about a custom built gaming PC via email and the amount of time he spent talking me through it, picking out the perfect parts, and answering my (many) questions was incredible. Plus, the fee for the build was unbelievably competitive. Furthermore, he met me after store hours to accommodate my busy work schedule, completed the build for me, and I took it home the SAME NIGHT. If you are looking for a trustworthy place, this is NOT the place to bring your computer. My computer had a bad virus. When I picked it up, it still had a bad virus. I noticed that it had two users. When I asked Kyle why I had two users on my computers, he did not know. I mean does he ever check his job before returning the computer to customers? He also did not install an antivirus program on my computer. I mean this is the very first thing one does when a computer has a BAD virus. If you want to avoid headaches, do not take your computer to Kyle. He is sloppy, he does not check his work, and what is worst, he does not get the job done. Not everything is bad about this place. The customer service is excellent. I was pleased with the customer service, and that is the only reason they get one in a half stars. read more

I highly recommend this place! I showed up at Chico Computer Clinic just before closing to drop off my unresponsive MacBook. I had been told by Apple and several other places that it was likely a hardware problem that would cost upwards of $150. Kyle asked me a few questions, popped the back off, plugged my trackpad back in, removed some corrosion with rubbing alcohol and BAM! It was running perfectly again. I can't thank him enough, especially because he didn't even charge me! I went in expecting to pay almost $200 and to not have my laptop for a few days, but he fixed it in less than 15 minutes AND free of charge! My original reason for taking my computer to Chico Computer Clinic was the 5 star reviews I found here on Yelp. Kyle not only removed a nasty virus, but did some additional clean up and installed Windows 7 on my computer at no extra charge. He made himself available to any questions I had once I got the computer home--important for a dangerous non-geek like myself. I was very impressed with Kyle's knowledge and professional business approach in addition to my computer which is now working faster than it has in ages. So much so, that I took my husband's older computer in and Kyle was able to remove lots of stuff that was causing it to run painfully slow. I walked into Kyle's shop, worried that my laptop has been severely compromised, having been frozen by a message in red that declared that "Microsoft Edge" had detected an intruder who was threatening my hard drive and access to all my financial passwords etc, and that I must immediately call "Microsoft Help" at 1-888-.....or log on with my user ID and password. Fortunately, the message, although written in English had little glitches that indicated it had been written by a non-native speaker. Concerned about an estimate for a blown power supply, Jeremy gave me an estimate over the phone and quoted me a day to complete the fix. I brought my computer in later that day and he was really friendly and approachable. I left thinking I'd have to pick it up the next day so I continued going about my business running errands. When I was done, I had a voice message from him stating that he had fixed the issue and I could pick it up! I hadn't even finished my errands before it was ready so I was pleasantly surprised. I am a senior citizen and I don't understand computers when it comes to software. My computer was infected with a nasty virus that I at first thought was a real piece of software. I saw this place driving by the day before and thought I better call just to have piece of mind. When describing what I was seeing Kyle right away knew that I was infected with something called "ransom-ware" and I needed to bring it in. He came out to my car and helped me carry my computer inside. He repaired the problem and showed me a few things that I was still concerned over. These guys are great. My laptop was so infested with bugs and viruses that it hardly functioned. Actually it had always had a slower start up than any other I'd had. I told them I wasn't in a big hurry if they could just get it going without spending too much money or I might as well get a new one. They had it for 2 days and I'm still astounded at how fast it is. Not only are the bugs and viruses gone, it works better than it did when it was brand new! I was also impressed when Kyle (the tech I dropped it off with) sent me an email 2 weeks later to make sure everything was still functioning to my expectations. Kyle is the man!! This is by far the best place in Chico to have your computer repaired. I recently needed help with my Mac (which is RARE). I used to build computers and am not computer illiterate, but recently had a problem beyond my scope of knowledge. I Called Nerds On Call and they told me it would be 129.00 just to look at my computer. realizing this is absurd i did some research and came across Kyle at Chico Computer Clinic. Kyle is a real human being! I spilled liquid on my computer and when I wiped it off my screen flipped upside down. I had no idea what had happened but couldn't use my computer. I took it into Kyle and after explaining my situation he took a look at my computer right then. As it turned out it was an easy fix, I had just pushed all the right keys to instruct my screen to flip. He flipped it right side up for me, showed me what had happened, told me to have a nice day and didn't charge me a penny.
