The place was not busy (3pm). I assume later it might get packed.

Located in a basement very close to the British Museum, this place was a happy surprise. Prices were reasonable and the chicken quality was very good. The chicken was very tender and tasty, fries and salad also passed the bar. The menu is straight simple, quality can't be hidden by fancy descriptions. Service was fast and polite. Very good place if you have an appetite and have had enough of gastropubs.

Fast prompt service and delicious food! The chicken was amazing and a half will feed 2 people. We enjoyed how sides of Bibb avocado salad and crinkle fries. I wish we had ordered the sweet potato fries as they looked amazing. The show stopper - the apple pie and I typically love chocolate , but skip it and you'll have zero regrets‼

A better Nando's. There I've said it. There is nothing left to say. In all seriousness, I love places that just do one thing, and do it well. At the chicken shop, they do chicken. They do it well. I ordered half a chicken (which is plenty unless you're a complete beast) and curvy chips on the side. The chicken was really good. The chips was good and made incredible with this garlic mayo sauce that they have. It's actually incredible (a little tang of spice). Also, the restaurant is pretty cool. It's underground and you can see where they cook the chicken. The only downside I noticed was that there is no signal or wifi. Should be easy to remedy though.

    Whole chicken !

Finally good chicken in the UK. This place hits it out of the park. They serve chicken and chicken salad and awesome sides. Very limited menu but down to perfection. The mac and cheese was Great ! The chicken is pit roasted over a wood fire. Everyone in my group loved the chicken. The chicken was fall off the bone and seasoned nicely. The staff and service was friendly. They staff moved around in a frenzy pace and worked well as a team. It was not like your typically European staff of sit ya and forget ya. Great people! Kid friendly as long as they like good chicken. I will be coming back. Thanks chicken shop for giving my peeps a good meal in London. Also save room for a brownie after;)

Wonderful chicken and sides, especially the mac & cheese. Great and fast service as well. A must.

Quality spot. Both the rotisserie and the Mac and cheese were as good as I've ever had. 5*

Also, I was pleased to read that they had vegan fish! The kid and husband shared some regular fish and chips and I had the vegan variety. I think the kid and husband liked their selection quite all right, but it wasn't anything stupendous. Like, it didn't "beat" any of the fish and chips they previously had in the United States but we didn't expect it to. My vegan fish was a tad creepy, not going to lie, but that's likely because I don't often consume vegan fish. It had a flaky texture, attempting to be reminisce of fish with a slight seafoody flavor. It was served with tartar sauce, which I assumed was not vegan, so I opted for ketchup. The chips were decent short chunky bites of potato. I decided to take my leftovers back to the hotel and as you might expect, they were not very delectable once they were cold, hah. As expected, everything was really fried and greasy, because duh but everything came out quickly and piping hot. Our server was pretty attentive and prompt, which I appreciated. This is sort of between a 3 and a 4 stars for me, but I'm rounding up to a 4 as it's not often that I have the opportunity to consume vegan fish.

Like a crispy greasy sponge of water and oil if I gad to describe it. I doused it with so much vinegar to get it to taste like something it was soggy. The staff wasn't very helpful, non attentive... never brought our drinks. The space was very bright and cramped... not very comfortable, rather utilitarian. Overall, it was a bit of a let down as I really wanted some memorable Fish N Chips whilst in London.

I wanted something with at least one good veggie option, they wanted something with meat, and it had to be somewhere in-between Camden and Canary Wharf, not too pricey, and ideally close to the city because otherwise our Italian friend probably wouldn't make it. And lo and behold.... THE FAT BEAR!!! It was all we wanted and more! This place is sort of tucked away and up some stairs above a pub. It's really just a room and a half, which makes it super cozy and they have a pretty awesome looking bar. It's got warm lighting which makes the atmosphere really nice. Their cocktails were delightful and the service was excellent. I will make a very strange observation that someone working there had a very drunk friend who just sort of made herself at home. Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.
