This chippy actually has a gluten free version of the iconic British favorite. They accept reservations and it does get packed. Tables are small and tightly packed in but the service was great. It's not cheap by American standards. Two fish and chips, a beer, olives and a lemonade worked out to $93 USD. We did enjoy every bite.

Hobson's is the catch of the day! Super casual vibe... a little loud, and busy but in the heart of CHARING cross, you will find local fresh fish daily! We had to get the traditional fish and chips, the cod - served with tartar sauce, vinegar, lemon - and a side of pleasant and not salty servers! They were so nice and welcoming! The fish was flaky and the batter was crispy and delicious. The sauce was amazing and every bite was enhanced! This is also coming from a "non-seafood" eater! I typically don't eat fish, but I had to try it, when in Rome, or should I say England! The chips/fries were hot and carbolicious! We met some engaging local people in the restaurant and I learned they have multiple locations. The sweet woman serving us asked if this was our first visit, to which we replied in the affirmative! She then asked us to wait a minute after we paid our check, and brought us complementary apple cobbler with ice cream! Well, she got us hook, line, sinker... we definitely came back and had just as nice experience the next time! This place, although packed during dinner times, is worth it... fast, friendly service, wonderful food at a reasonable price point! Try Hobson's, you too will be "hooked"!

I was so looking forward to trying this place, especially because they have gluten free fish and chips, and sticky toffee pudding. And the fish was super crispy and fine. The pudding was good. The place is packed, hot (July heat wave), the service is OK, not exactly friendly or too nice. And it's definitely a place that goes for fast turnover and not comfort. There are lots of GF fish and chips options, so I don't think I'd go back to this one.

We felt obligated to stop by here because well, when in London. . . right? And there were a couple of locations nearby where we were staying. Also, I was pleased to read that they had vegan fish! The kid and husband shared some regular fish and chips and I had the vegan variety. I think the kid and husband liked their selection quite all right, but it wasn't anything stupendous. Like, it didn't "beat" any of the fish and chips they previously had in the United States but we didn't expect it to. My vegan fish was a tad creepy, not going to lie, but that's likely because I don't often consume vegan fish. It had a flaky texture, attempting to be reminisce of fish with a slight seafoody flavor. It was served with tartar sauce, which I assumed was not vegan, so I opted for ketchup. The chips were decent short chunky bites of potato. I decided to take my leftovers back to the hotel and as you might expect, they were not very delectable once they were cold, hah. As expected, everything was really fried and greasy, because duh but everything came out quickly and piping hot. Our server was pretty attentive and prompt, which I appreciated. This is sort of between a 3 and a 4 stars for me, but I'm rounding up to a 4 as it's not often that I have the opportunity to consume vegan fish.

Hands down the best fish and chips I've ever eaten. So glad I stopped into Hobson's! Walked in for a late lunch and was seated right away, Aroma was my server very friendly and attentive. They had quite a few things on the menu but I stuck to the fish and chips. It was honestly just amazing and I will certainly be stopping back in here the next time I am in London.

Amazing fish and chips! This is were it started after all. The breading is perfect, and the size is huge! They do sell more than just fried cod, but that is all I wanted to get here!

My husband and I were looking for great fish and chips and the concierge at our hotel recommended Hobson's! We thought with the name it had to be delicious and it was!! The cod was flaky, the coating crispy and crunchy! The chips were hot and tasty and the chopped Hobson's salad was really refreshing! Our server, Sarah, was so accommodating and friendly! The restaurant was clean, welcoming and in a great location near our hotel. All in all it was a great experience!! Now if I could only get fish and chips this good back in NJ! ‍

I mean... it wasn't complete garbage... it just wasn't good. it was fried well, quite crisp, but kind of greasy... no flavor. Where's the seasoning? Like a crispy greasy sponge of water and oil if I gad to describe it. I doused it with so much vinegar to get it to taste like something it was soggy. The staff wasn't very helpful, non attentive... never brought our drinks. The space was very bright and cramped... not very comfortable, rather utilitarian. Overall, it was a bit of a let down as I really wanted some memorable Fish N Chips whilst in London.

Arrived after the lunch crowd on Monday and did not have to wait for a seat. While I ordered the Haddock Fish and Chips, my buddy ordered the Cod and both were accompanied with a tiny tiny cup of tartar sauce and lemon slice. With the haddock being a slightly more firmer fish than the cod, we enjoyed the crispy fish with portions being sufficient. As for the chips, they are typical of the British--wedge shaped, not crispy, not oily, and not salty. Whereas the American counterpart is the opposite, except for the shape which is baton. With plenty of condiments on the table (ketchup, mayo, malt vinegar, salt), I was dismayed that the tartar sauce was so stingy.

We made a reservation and we are glad we did. This place was pretty busy. My husband picked it because they offered gluten free fish and chips along with other items. My family is not gluten free but they really enjoyed their food as well. It was pretty busy in there especially since it was a Friday. This place was on the pricy side but it was worth it. I ordered the gluten free cod goujons and gluten free onion rings. My family liked my rings better than their regular ones. The rest of the family got the cod and chips with a side of onion rings and beans. We enjoyed our meal and would eat there again when we visit London. Probably the best gluten free fish and onion rings I have had. The staff was great but it was very busy. It's a small restaurant with great vibes.

The food is good, fish is fresh and like the authentic taste. A little bit noise inside and service is kind of slow though

Attentive, exceptional service. Busy at dinner rush and the staff kept up in a rather undersized dining area. Nice portions of F&C, good for 1 or combined with salad and peas if you are sharing. Try a Fentimans Dandelion Beer if you are feeling adventurous. Clean look, with primarily keeping to blues (assuming random ocean reference). Price was okay, but everything is expensive now (thanks Mr Orange).

This is a top-notch fish n chips joint. The fish is fresh. The batter crispy golden with that wonderful crunch. The welcoming and friendly service staff made the meal ever more pleasant. Although the place is fairly cozy, it is quite clean and well organized. And to top it off, the price is unbeatable. Mayfair Chippy, although maybe on the same par as the food quality, it certainly cannot beat the price at Hobson's. A must try for those visiting London.

Loved the crispy & tasty gluten free onion rings. Both the GF & regular fish & chips were kind of bland tasting. Industrial atmosphere.

Open and airy, it's a throwback to Old World architecture with a vintage Athletic Club vibe. In fact, it's considered to be a "Grade I" listed building, joining the ranks of other historically significant places in London, including Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge. In fact, it felt like T.S. Eliot, Agatha Christie, or Virginia Woolf might've passed through here to take in a pint themselves or be inspired by the trains below for their next plot line. Since I was craving Fish & Chips with malted vinegar and creamy tartar sauce the moment I booked my trip to London, this was a clear choice on their menu. Disappoint, it did not! (Though it was one of my fears considering it's located at a highly touristic point at King's Cross Station.) In fact, the fish was fresh and flakey, while the chips were perfectly cut and well-seasoned. There was even a side of minty peas next to my fresh-cut lemon wedges that made me smile. I paired it with a cold pint of a local draught Cider that was also quite refreshing on this balmy, summer day. Equally as impressive, my meal was ready almost as quick as the whip of my wand and the snap of my fingers. Granted, it was 3pm in the afternoon and the crowds were light at that time. But still. The locomotive speed on my order was noted and very much appreciated. To top it off, the friendly staff helped me navigate through my whims and indecision with their selection of pints and cocktails (and even the city to find my next stop). So the next time I'm passing through here, I'll be sure to make this a stop along my journey. Cheers to The Parcel Yard for a job well done from start to finish!
