Ehhhh- you don't go to a fish joint for burgers
    Teresa M.

Friendly Service from start to finish. The fish and chips were cooked correctly and in clean oil. Nothing was soggy or oily. It was piping hot, and both fish & chips dishes were winners. These are big portions. Then came the burger. I can't even be mad cuz ya just don't go to a fish joint for burgers. Not good.

This place is small and cozy. Food is made fresh. Very delicious especially the homemade tartar sauce. Would recommend 100%. Size is a big portion.

I had a great experience here for dinner. An authentic fish and chips place Bailey's is clearly a local favorite. I thought I was the only order but takeout orders were being prepared and departing for 10 minutes before I received my meal. My order of a large cod, large fries and mushy peas was than my stomach but it was all delicious. I also enjoyed talking with the manager. By talking to him for 5 minutes, I was prevented from burning the inside of my mouth from eating too quick. Friendly and interested in many different topics.

Best Chippy in London! COD was light batter, perfectly cooked, great homemade tartar. Service was fantastic. So nice. We will be back! Thank you!

Small little restaurant but friendly service. Food was really good. Good size portions. Could not finish it, too full.

Wonderful little shop that makes the best fish and chips! The sides were also great, especially the peas. The proprietor was smart, friendly, and knowledgeable about not only the menu, but the surrounding area as well. 100% recommendation. My son hates fish and he LOVED it. Note: there is almost no seating. That's ok, I'd eat these delicious fishies in the middle of the street if I had to!

I want to give this place five stars although it appears it was recently sold and it hasn't been the same from my family's two experiences. The chips were slightly over cooked. I looked up at the bottles in the wall and they were dusty, which isn't a great sign for a restaurant.

Huge fish. This is a regular size plate. Excellent quality.

Food was delicious and I had perfectly fried chips. I wish I could make chips as good as those.

I had a real jones for a true British fish and chips meal. Since we weren't thrilled with the hotel's recommendation, we started to wander. We came across two Bobbies and thought, "Eureka! Surely they will know of a good fish and chips place". The answer to the question, however, was the start of the great dinner adventure. "There's no proper fish and chips around here", said the first cop. "You know, they are disappearing from all over Britain", said the second. The first cop went on to say, "If you want a proper [he pronounced it as "prawper", of course] fish and chips, it's pretty far; about 15 minutes from here. You'd have to take the number 74 or 430 nightbus. But that's a proper fish and chips shop, which is a dying breed here. You go down two blocks to the light, turn to the right and take the 74 or 430 bus through two roundabouts to the third stop. The shop is called The Anchor and it's a proper fish and chips, all right. Just next to the toy store". So off we went, down the street to find the nightbus. I had a vision of the Harry Potter movie in my head, of course. But the traffic was heavy, so the real bus wasn't going very fast. We were clearly off the tourist map and in a residential area of London. After a bit, we weren't sure if we had passed it or what, so we asked if anyone on the upper deck with us knew of The Anchor - no one had. But they knew the toy store, and that was the next stop, so we clambered down and jumped off at the next stop. There it was, not a block off. The owners (Maurice and his wife) were delightful people who really cared about us, taking the time for a conversation and just being super friendly. The meal was just the best in comfort food - tasty, warm, and satisfying. Prices were reasonable. I plan to return.

I suppose the nearest thing we have is takeaway chips, and this was exactly what I was in the mood for one freezing cold February night when I was walking home. As luck would have it I spotted Hooked, which looked a bit more upmarket than your typical fish n chips place, but was similarly reasonably priced. For £1.80 I was given a huge plate of freshly cooked chips and was able to sit in at one of the tables in the (very clean) restaurant area at no extra cost! Free ketchup too. The chips, whilst not the best I'd ever had, did taste fresh and were nice and chunky too, which is the way I feel all chips should be. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too. A great spot for some quick, cheap and hot grub!

Gluten free fish and chips- wow!…read more We came here after learning about their dedicated gluten free fryer and menu items. The takeaway line was pretty steady but we ate in. The server was great with our kids and gave some sound advice on menu options. We had the haddock and cod fish and chips, and the kids had fish bites - which ended up being a bit more substantial. If we go back we'll choose those. The staff was really friendly and gave us space. Not everyone may appreciate that, but the pace was perfect for us. We would have liked a bit larger drink menu, but the current offerings work for the menu.
