This place was recommended for fish and chips in the area we we staying in so we came to check it out! It was on Waterloo Road, walking distance from the train station. It's a small chippy but the portions were huge! First we were served some pickles and cold shrimp and bread which came with the meal. We had the haddock and cod and like I said, the pieces were big. The batter was light and not overly greasy- the fish was tender. The chips were also big and hot. So much food! We could've easily shared one plate. The staff there were very nice and friendly too. We also had cider and an ale (London Pride) to go along with the meal. Prices were very reasonable as well and we left very full and satisfied!

A casual and friendly spot for a group of 6. The fish is plentiful and chips were great. I added salt for my own taste. I liked it was lightly battered and remained crispy until the last bite. We also got cheeseburgers. The meat was thick! It came with great veggies and the one pictured is a plain one for my son. Great value for the quality.

The battered and mustard cod fish was so tender and flaky. It was delicious. Staff was quite friendly too.

We checked into our hotel and found that this place was highly recommended by locals, yelp, and the hotel staff so rushed over there at 3pm. They close at 330 but were nice enough to serve us even though they were only open for 30 minutes. I ordered the lunch special of classic fish and chips with a side of coleslaw. My friend ordered a mustard fish and chips, and the other ordered grilled fish and chips! First, they bring you incredibly soft bread and whole shrimp as an appetizer. I dont really eat bread, but it was so soft and good I ate probably 3 pieces. The shrimp was good too but being a whole shrimp its a lot of work. My fish was huge and still had the skin on it even though it was battered! The fries were good too but their slaw and tartar sauce really pushed the place over the edge for me. It was by far the best fish and chips I have ever had, even from another place in london too that was highly recommended. My friends Lemon fish and chips was even better than what I ordered so get that if you go there. The meal was also relatively inexpensive but a great value overall!

Haddock and chips. I ate more than half before I remembered to take a picture.

Really good food at affordable prices with great service makes this a winner. This seems like a place that is frequented by locals which made it even better. I had the "normal" (fried) haddock while my wife ordered grilled haddock. Both orders consisted of a huge piece of fish and a large serving of chips fresh out of the fryer and piping hot. For the table we also were served a bowl of prawns, some assorted pickles and a basket of bread. These extras were included as part of the dinner. Our server also brought out bowls with tartar sauce and ketchup before our food arrived. Fried or grilled, the haddock was excellent. Fresh and perfectly cooked either way. Best of all is the location being just a few steps away from our hotel. I will be back, maybe this same trip but certainly on a future visit.

First meal in London, fish and chips! The place was really good and the family enjoyed it. However, I feel like it was rather expensive for looking like a hole in the wall ... also, there was no air conditioning, so didn't feel as comfortable eating as I'd like. All that stuff aside, can't go wrong with eatinghwre and based off other Yelp reviews, it was just what we wanted and needed. Plus, it was walking distance from our hotel. You do get some free shrimp to start off with!

Second time here, just as good as the first (a few years ago). Meal starts out with a basket of bread and butter along with a few (cold) boiled shrimp. You can peel and eat 'em while you wait for the main dish to arrive! A very reasonably priced cod fish-n-chips meal for around £10 consisting of a large fried fish fillet, chips, mushy peas and a soft drink. Their tartar sauce is tangy and pairs great with the freshly fried cod. Chips were cooked perfectly. We left feeling very full and satisfied for the rest of our tour of the city. A bit off the beaten path, but worth the effort to seek this place out.

The chips were thick-cut, properly salted, and tasted like real chip shop fries instead of frozen fast food fries. The place was completely packed, so I ended up eating on the stairs about a block away, honestly felt like part of the experience. One of those spots that doesn't try to reinvent fish and chips. it just does the classic version better than most places. Would easily go back next time I am in London.

(I heard the non GF version was also excellent.) Platter came with flavorful mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a spicy mayo (or currry for the non GF platter). Chips were large and delicious. Portion was huge, and easily shareable. Delicious!! Service: It was ok. We waited in line for a really long time (more than an hour) but we were checked on from time to time. Once we were seated and ordered, no one really checked in, but we asked if we needed something. Ambiance: Cute outdoor seating. In door seating was okay. Reservations get to go into a back room which seemed nicer. Lovely side street in a crazy busy popular area. It's a solid 4.5 stars for what it is because the food was so good. I'd return. Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait...a long time...Or, skip the line to order takeaway and go enjoy your food!

I'm not sure on that, it's just something I thought we caught on to before we left and there started to be RESERVED tents going on the tables. We went and had Scotch Egg, Calamari, Arancini, fish & chips and STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING. Oh. My. Goodness! First the Scotch Egg. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but it was....ok. It was a little plain. A little tasteless. They could have thrown a few spices into the meat, just a little something. To say that we've made better at home wouldn't be far out. But still good. The calamari was cooked just right. It's what you expect out of a calamari appetizer. Was it the best you'll ever have? Not really. Worth the price? Add it to your appetizer list! The rice balls, which is arancini is, were good. Add a little salt to the top and they were, also, as you'd expect. The fish & chips were exactly as we were hoping when visiting an English Pub for fish & chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, the coating was fabulous, and of course the chips were a perfect compliment to the fish. A great fish & chips experience. The star of the show was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. What a treat! Granted I've nothing to compare it to, this was my first time having it, but whether I've had it before or not THIS was perfection. Perfect texture, the flavour was amazing, the caramel drizzle was perfectly proportioned, and the little bit of ice cream on the side was just perfect. I would go back here simply on this dessert alone. As for the drinks, because, you know, it's a pub....I couldn't say. I don't drink alcohol but my Diet Coke was great! Fresh bottle! ....I suppose I could have gotten a non-alcoholic beer. Wait....did they have non-alcoholic beer there? SOMEONE FIND OUT IF THEY HAVE NON-ALCOHOLIC BEER THERE. The atmosphere was great. I can see how it would be perfect in the evening and on into the night. Very welcoming with a great looking bar.
