We had to try fish and chips so we decided on this place based on the reviews. It didn't disappoint. The cod fish itself was bland but combined with the tartar sauce, it was pretty good. It was lightly battered and wasn't fishy. My niece's mushroom chicken pie was very good. The sweet potato chips were tasty. Service was good and food came out pretty fast within 10 mins. Prices were decent

Unexpectedly expensive for fish and chips, but the portions were generous. For two people, we got the fried cod and haddock and shared only one order of fries, side of curry sauce, and Hobson Special Salad - which we'd recommend for a fresh palate cleanser.

We came here after someone recommended this place for having very good fish & chips. Sadly, I was disappointed with the taste and service we received. We had better fish & chips in other Locations. Service was slow and not very attentive, although they weren't busy. The inside is great! Nicely decorated, spacious, and clean. I really think I came on an off day because this place came with high recommendation.

First time in London, I had to try real Fish & Chips- I'm so happy we chose Hobson's! The service was amazing- super friendly and fast. The shop itself was bright and spacious. I got the cod and it was breaded perfectly. Light, airy and crispy- with delicate, clean fish. The chips were fried nicely and were savory. Loved the vinegar and mayo- they were great additions.

Fresh & Crispy Cod! Shoulda had the slaw, though the chips were quite good The service was more than adequate

The good things Clean and bright and the service was really good. Our disappointment was with the fish and chips. Absolutely no taste to it. This wasn't medium priced food either. We found delicious fish and chips at pub around the corner that came with mushy peas and was less money overall.

This was my first time having some authentic fish and chips. Delicious We found that Hobson's had some solid reviews so we visited their Soho location. All of us ordered the classic fish and chips (cod) and, at the same time, received a massive piece of fried fish and chunky fries (I'm American what can I say). The cod was fried perfectly. Super crispy and the fishy interior just melted in my mouth. Combined with the tartar sauce, the meal was complete. This is exactly what I wanted. The service was quick and very amicable. Some critiques: the cod and "chips" were a bit lacking in salt, and the malt vinegar wasn't very strong. Very minor things as salt was provided and the tartar sauce was enough condiment for me anyways.

8.22.23 The vote is unanimous, the best fish & chips hubby and I have ever had. Fish and chips were both crispy and came out piping hot. The cod was also flaky. This was the only restaurant we tried whose reviews were accurate and didn't disappoint. Seating inside is limited, but there is outdoor seating available too. Just a note it is a bit stuffy inside. Fish and chips is obligatory to have when you come to England and this is the spot to go to. You will leave happy!

Your average fish and chips. Wasn't bad however wasn't great. Big portions which is nice. Restaurant is small and intimate. It is quick and easy to order however would not personally go again.

Our first night in London called for Fish n Chips, and Hobson's came highly recommended. The space is great - clean, well branded and decorated, and very welcoming! The menu has a good range of offerings. Honestly there were so many other thing I wanted to try. We got the cod and the haddock - both fantastic but the haddock was next-level delicious. It's more fishy but I really like how great the flavor came through!! Other high note - the grilled halloumi. A perfect example of how exceptional the basics can be when done right. My ONLY complaint was with the service. Our waitress was great through the ordering process, but then we never saw her again. No checking on drinks; no checking on food; and when it came time for the check (after waiting for about 30 minutes) I finally went and fetched the check myself. But I wouldn't let this deter you from trying their delicious fish n chips!!

A great restaurant for people looking for gluten free. Especially if you're wanting gluten free fish and chips to try. Service was pretty quick to sit and to get our food. Large piece of cod, lightly battered. Little weird to have the fish skin on the bottom half but easily peeled off. Chips were fresh and good. Side of coleslaw was delicious! Tried mushy peas side and would be ok not having it again! Weird minty taste to me. Also tried their cider which was was Bulmers cider, very good. A lot of seating at the restaurant. Bathrooms in the back.

The fish was delightful! I ordered the cod and it was milky, fresh, and melts in your mouth with the perfect amount of crisp on the outside. The calamari was fresh and soft. The chips were ok the dryer side and lacked flavor. The place was packed when we got there but servers got us a seat in less than 5 minutes. It was quite loud at the location and they didn't know how to split a bill in two.

The best experience in London! You have to try. It's small but worth it for a wait and the food is delicious.

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.

However, on deeper inspection - the Cow is a marvelous dining experience - complete with an extensive wine selection, rotating specials, and a bespoken approach to food preparation. The food? Well, it's British pub fare - with a slightly divergent menu on Sundays. Everything is fresh and beautifully plated. The bangers and mash was exceptional. The green bean salad was so unique and popping with flavors, I scribbled the ingredients list in an attempt to reproduce the dish at home. The atmosphere is hopping - it's a small pub ambience and there is not any wasted space. Not to fear, the delightful staff can help find a table for your party. I was a bit intimidated walking in on a Sunday night all by myself. My trepidation quickly went away as the server made it easy to relax and enjoy my evening. As a small aside, I sat next to the small kitchen space on the main floor. To see the amazing plates being prepared one after the other in that tiny kitchen, well . . . that was an amazing experience in and of itself. Chapeau to the chef. Truly a masterpiece to put out such accomplished food from a space no larger than most bathrooms.

We chose the tasting menu since it featured a variety of farm-fresh dishes. My husband added the wine pairing. Dessert was chocolate mousse, but I asked to switch to pie, and they were happy to accommodate. The ambiance felt like a cozy English countryside diner.
