My friend was showing me around London and was asking where I wanted to eat. My wife's student's had been raving about Nando's, and he said that was a pretty popular chain restaurant, so we went to it and let me try it out. Overall, I was pretty happy with the meal. It came out very quickly. They have alot of flavors - some of which can be VERY spicy, so be careful about that. I like spice, and the one I got was their special of the month, and it was almost too hot for me. Luckily their fries helped cool it off afterwards. But the chicken itself was still very good, and I really liked the sauce you could bring to the table and dip either the chicken or fries into. Exploring Earls Court, passed Nando's, saw the crowd inside, and thought this might be a place to check out! WOW was I glad I did! This is like no chicken place in US I have tried...HUGE flavor palette of excitement! Loved the sides also, but its the chicken I remember most! Rice was flavorful, and the slaw was fresh and also full of unique flavor and texture. Inspired by African Peri Peri spices if I understand correctly, and when you order the spicy, expect an explosion! All of the sides I saw were very well prepared and presented in a casual street side environment. Seldom would I consider visiting a place more than once on holiday, but Nando's was dinner 2 evenings...and was amazing both times! Wow! This was much better than I was expecting for a chain restaurant. Me and my family got the family combo, and that one dish fed all 8 of us. The atmosphere was warm, and everything was orange themed. The lighting there was so good that when I took pictures, it looked better than in real life. They had so many sauces, my favorite being the "hot" and "medium with wild herb" sauces. The chicken was juicy and tender with crispy, grilled skin. The servers were also really nice. They smiled and fit the theme perfectly. If they had a Nando's in my hometown, I would take my friends and show them how amazing this little restaurant is. We were very lucky to have one right next to our hotel. I will say though that it might get boring after the first couple of times. But I would definitely recommend Nando's to anyone hungry for good chicken! read more

Wanting a quick dinner, we came here late one night to try it out. There was a small line, but we were quickly seated and explained to how the restaurant works. Sit at table, order at counter, food is brought to you, get drinks/plates/napkins/silverware yourself. I tried the grilled boneless chicken thighs (2 plain/2 lemon garlic) with the vegetables and salad. The chicken was so juicy and had a lovely flavor and chargrill on it. My girlfriend and I decided to try Nando's randomly for dinner since we saw a few of its locations in London. We had never heard of Nando's before, but after doing some research we realized how globally popular it really was and deservedly so! It was pretty crowded when we visited for dinner because of how busy the area was. There was about a 15 minute wait, but it was worth every second. Once we were informed that a table opened up for us, we were told to order at the cash register and the food would be brought to us. We both ordered their popular Peri Peri chicken with 2 sides, my girlfriend the1/4 and me the 1/2. The bottom line was that this was some of the best roast chicken we had ever had - flavorful, very juicy and leaving us wanting much much more! This quality food definitely did not belong in a fast food restaurant as it tasted so much better! Oh and don't forget the unlimited amount of sauce they allow you to use. There were a variety of flavors that you could use. The sides were also excellent too, as I had the Peri fries and red skin mashed potatoes and my girlfriend had the Portuguese rice and corn on the cob. The fries were like thick cut frites and there was a ton of it on my dish. We're aware that Nando's exists in the states, but we're praying and hoping that they open one up soon near us in New York! read more

With no particular cravings in mind, we sought out for a quick place to eat on our last night in London. The area we had been staying is populated with Italian, pizzas, burgers but we wanted something a little different and Nando's came to mind. As many times as I'd been to London and passed a Nandos location, I'd never been so this was a first for us. They have a very extensive menu with some healthier veggie options and since we had our 3 year old with us, the healthier options were appealing. Most dishes have the option to add either 1 or 2 sides so coming here is a very economic decision. They have options for children but due to the generous portions, we decided to share with my daughter instead. Service is attentive and even though you order up front, the staff will still source out guide you to your seat (perhaps this is during the busier times). I see they have majority of the US locations out East and Illinois but would love to see Nando's out here in the west coast. read more

I've been a Nando fan for years. This Afro-Portuguese chain has spread all around the planet because it serves up good and hearty food at a fair price. And their variety of Peri-Peri (Piri Piri) sauces is outstanding. A couple of them add some serious heat to the meal. My favorite is the Lemon and Herb Peri Peri. It totally brought out the flavor of my recent Veggie Cataplana dinner. And the Nando's in the heart of Earl's Court in London is extremely friendly with cheerful staff looking out for you! Came in on a Saturday night after getting off a flight from Berlin. It was packed inside, but we were greeted promptly by a cheerful waitress. I explained that it was our first time and she kindly explained how things worked, then we were seated within minutes. You come in, get seated, order at the counter, and the wait staff will bring you the food. You get your own sauces (the whole bottle if you want, or you can pour them out), napkins, drinks, and dinnerware​. We didn't want to get too full, so we opted to do half a chicken combo and a burger with the Halloumi appetizer. Everything came out relatively quickly and we had just enough time to get our drinks, utensils​ and the sauces. Us being spoiled Americans, we were so glad to see ice and unlimited refills on soft drinks! The Fanta was really good. The Halloumi tasted like a water mozzarella​ cheese, but strangely tasty. The sauce was very sweet and just a tiny bit spicy. The chicken was very flavorful and really didn't need any sauce. It was a bit on the drier​ side, but I've had worse. The burger was very good, but I only had a bite so it's not fair for me to elaborate more. The green peas on the side were minty indeed, but definitely lacking salt. I ended up putting a ton of salt on it to make it more palatable. Overall, the experience was very pleasant and everyone was friendly. The tables are close to each other, so keep that in mind if you're not comfortable with it. We love spicy food, so we ended up purchasing a bottle of the X sauce to take home (though all sauces were delicious). P.S. We also ordered their wings roulette for take out. We are travellers and this was a new restaurant for us. Great location close to the tube. Staff were very helpful explaining how they operate. Basically you can sit down and look at a menu. Once you're ready to order you go up to the till and order and pay. Then sit and wait for service. It's a mix between fast food and sit down. The food was ok, and the sauces were very good. Portions were a bit smaller than I expected for £21.00, but the chicken was cooked perfectly. We had the boneless chicken with two large sides. Spicy Rice and mashed potatoes. Fairly simple. Someone compared my desire to eat at Nando's to her desire to eat at KFC in the US. Um, no, I think not! When I walked in I was immediately greeted by a server. Due to the late hour of my visit I decided to place an order for take away and was told to line up in front of a register. I ordered a lemon & herb half chicken with grilled vegetables and a mixed leaf salad. I made sure to also grab a few packets of sauce on my way out. The server kept me updated and inquired if I wanted a glass of water during my wait. Chairs are available near the door for those waiting for their orders or to be seated. The order was ready in approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The chickens are normal-sized, not the plumped up behemouths we have come to see in the US. Thus a half chicken was the perfect size for me. The breast meat was juicy and the chicken was tender and flavorful. I added additional lemon & herb sauce as well as the medium sauce, which had a nice spicy kick. The salad was contained fresh greens, which went well with the chicken. The grilled vegetables was a rather small portion but had nice flavor and still retained much of its texture. The sauces were fantastic and I loved it so much I returned the following day to purchase a couple of bottles of the lemon & herb and medium sauces. While waiting for my order I noticed that most everyone had sides of creamy mash (mashed potatoes) with chips (steak fries). They must be great and I'll have to try them on a return visit. Turnover appeared to be fairly high as folks didn't seem to linger much after they were done with their meal. Staff will only seat you when there is a table available. I would happily eat here again and again. The food is healthy, reasonably priced and delicious with plenty of options for even the pickiest eater. We are here visiting London and in searching for a place to satisfy our hunger. We took the shuttle driver's advice and tried this Portuguese chicken and it was the bomb. Nando's is the name of that restaurant and it's located at 204 Earls Court just steps from our hotel and Earl's Court underground station in South Kensington. The restaurant is small but has a nice ambiance and it gets really busy for dinner. Try the boneless chicken thighs with a couple of sides will surely satisfy your hunger. If you're in for the bones, the whole chicken platter with 2 large sides or 4 small sides will make 2 people happy. The creamy mash and the peas are my personal favorite sides. They made them just perfect. If you like red wine , try the Cara Viva! It's so smooth and will add more flavor for your taste buds. What else? It will set jour mood just right! read more

Yum, we could really use a Nando's over here in LA. It would be a huge hit! My boyfriend and I stayed in London for 10 days and ended up at this location on 3 occasions. Every single time we loved our meal and ended up paying less than we would've at a "fancier" restaurant. Yes, it's a chain, but don't judge this place based on that. The Portuguese-South African style chicken is great. We tried the wraps and also the various meals that came with sides. Corn is good here and mashed potatoes! Also enjoyed the fries; make sure they don't forget to put the spices on them. We got these meals "hot" and could feel our lips tingling after each meal. On our third visit we got a free 1/4 chicken meal, which was nice. And they serve cider! Sauces are amazing. Love the garlic and also had the very hot sauce; YUM. It has been about 7 years since I was in London. I was longing for Nando's. I get the sauces back home and make my own wings, but there is always something about going to the source. In this case, I should have just lived with the memory. First, the service is a little wonky. Point you at a table, hand you a menu, give a brief instruction and leave you alone. There are not a lot of tables, so it is not great for larger crowds. If you are waiting on a table, you need to sit in the entry way. Second, and most importantly, the wings must have been procured from a 4 month old chicken. Yes, I raise chickens so I know how big they are. I went here for a quick dinner, so I ordered to go. Unfortunately, I watched as 4-5 people who ordered after I ended up getting their food before me. My friend ordered the same food as me except I ordered spicy rice, so we figured that was what took so long. Unfortunately, I barely got any. I used to go to Nando's in DC, and I was thrilled to find a couple of locations near me on a quick trip to London. It was so good we ate here twice! On the first visit, we started with the red pepper dip with pitas, and it was delicious! Then both of us had the grilled 1/4 chicken with 2 sides - mostly fries (chips) and coleslaw. I forgot how amazing their marinated, grilled chicken is - so tender and juicy and flavorful, and the sauces are amazing as well. I must remember to get some at my local grocery when I get home. On the second stop we shared fried halloumi cheese and a pepper jam dip - so, so good! I again got the grilled 1/4 chicken with 2 sides, while my gf got a salad with grilled chicken. My first meal in London, yay! My friend and I came in for dinner and I was quite surprised since she said it was a chain. You order at the cash register and they bring your food out for you. All the sauces are self-serve. I had the Butterfly Chicken Medium (I should have went a level higher since I love my flavors bolder) and it was quite good. This Nando's was where I spent my 23rd birthday, a few blocks from my hostel and a few days after moving to London. My boyfriend and I had spent the whole day pounding the pavement, looking for jobs and flats. Nando's had a feature rare in the UK--free refills on soda. I love soda. My boyfriend and I would sometimes go there, just to fill up on our favorite empty calories while munching away at spicy chicken sandwiches. I still remember the excellent roll their sandwiches were on, and their fries. Peri-peri good, indeed. Their sauces are hot, but not so hot my manly-man boyfriend couldn't handle the extra-hot. But surprise, surprise, nothing has happened and nothing will any time soon. In 2004, tight on cash, a friend introduced me to this chain. It was my first introduction into food in the UK that had great flavor. From then on, I learned a valuable lesson: If you like a blast of flavor in your food, find the ethnic food in the city. Complete rip off!! We are used to Nando's in Australia which is far cheaper and much nicer. My wrap was completely filled out with lettuce with a small amount if chicken. The chips were cold and seemed as though they'd sat around for hours then shoved on our plate. It cost us nearly AU$50 for 2 meals that wouldn't cost more that $24 at home. We came from the States and told that we HAD to try Nandos. It did not disappoint!!! I got the Butterfly Chicken Breast - Medium Spice. OMG!!! This was one of the best things I have ever tried!!! The flavors of the spice are amazing. Glad I went with the medium. I could have done spicier, but I don't think I would have enjoyed the flavors as much. I wish we had these in Los Angeles!! I'm a huge fan, Free refills on Soda which is never available in London, and good prices that offer portion sizes really fill you up. The chicken is very tasty with a good amount of kick if you order it with hot, or regular level. The part of this restaurant that really strives to be unique, and it works, London is such a huge city with many different cultures all living together, but Nando's fits right in, and tastes amazing. Never sat in this Nandos, I just decided on Monday night whilst perusing Earl's Court Road's fast food joints that Nandos was the one for me, and so in I popped to order myself half a chicken. When I went in about 8pm it was chaotically busy, so I'm glad I wasn't hoping to sit down. I went up and placed my order, and was told it would be about a 15 minute wait, which bothered me not one bit. Surprisingly, after only 5 minutes of waiting on the little bench next to the free refill soda bit, out came my meal. The staff were really nice in here, and served with a smile. My first meal in London as it was on the way to our hotel. I heard from many people that I HAD to try Nando's while in London, and I was skeptical since it was sort of a fast food place. I also had no idea what peri peri chicken was. The chicken turned out to be really good! It was way better than the usual "fast food quality" in the US. The meat was very moist and the seasoning was good. It has just a bit of a kick to it but you can add sauce onto it and they have many different sauces to choose from! I was introduced to the concept of Nandos by Jonathan Richardson, as he occasionally makes mention of it on the bootleg copies of "8 out of 10 Cats" my wife and I religiously watch here in the states. All I know is that they served chicken, and lots of it. I didn't know if it was African, Portuguese, or Chilean. I just knew they had chicken and different sauces. I didn't know if it was fast-food, a dive, or a fancy restaurant. Just that Jon Richardson gets takeaway from there and eats it all alone because he has bad luck with the ladies. My boss insisted on going to Nandos; he lived in London for about six months and had an affinity for the chain, so we went. And waited about 20 minutes to be seated, as we approached during the lunch rush. The chicken and sides were pretty good, some of the sauces too spicy for my tender palate, but it was still pretty tasty. It certainly wasn't worth the 20 minute wait, and if I'm lucky enough to require a fast-food lunch option in the UK, I'll certainly choose Nandos over McDonald's or the fare at the touristy-end of Camden Market. read more
