    TENDERS, FRIES
    Steven F.

Had a decent, but not phenomenal meal from here. Ordered the Chicken Tenders & Fries, which are supposedly house made. I don't think I've ever seen a singular, family owned shop specializing in Chicken Tenders, so I was intrigued. The Tenders were okay, they needed some more seasoning, but they were definitely crispy. The fries were a bit on the soggy side and were salty. Maybe I'm picky but I don't think the meal was 100% worth the price-- it was filling though.

We stopped here on our way to the hotel while on vacation. We were looking for a place to eat, and between Yelp and Google, this is what we chose based on reviews. We walked in, and the lady at the front counter was super friendly. No, she was not the owner. She was a worker who enjoyed serving people. She offered suggestions as to what to order. The seasoning they use for the chicken they also use on their fries. The seasoning is good. The place was clean, and the ambiance was nice. Since they cook everything to order, it took a few minutes for our food. In fact, our food was still hot when we reached our hotel! They did a great job packing everything! Everything tasted good. To our surprise they gave us free fries and wrote a special note on our bag! Wow, great customer service! Thank you!

The reviews were true! This place is amazing! I got the crispy chicken sandwich and fries to go. Nibbled on a couple fries on the drive. Almost whipped it around and went back for a large, soooo good! The Sammy, perfections! Juicy chicken with a, as it says, crispy coating. Not soggy at all. The pickles are amazing on it as well. Location super clean and welcoming. The staff super friendly and happy to tell you about the menu items. Great place, I'll be back!

This was our first visit today, and everything was great! The location is right across from the 7-Eleven on the southwest corner of Manchester and Berry. It's where the old Fox photo was, and I think pie pizza was in there for a bit, it seems like what they have to offer here is the best fit! The owner was running the window, and her husband is the chef, very friendly service, and always makes me happy to see people who generally seem to be enjoying what they are doing. I have the Doritos burrito and added sides of the Mac salad (almost sort of refreshing with the cilantro and not so heavy feeling like some macs) and the fried chickpeas (these are super tasty and incredibly light, a really awesome snack). I got my toddler the kids meal with chicken nuggets, there are three of them so I had one of them and I can say the chicken was outrageously succulent. My wife got the main salad, I am blanking on the name and our friend the chicken wings. I'll have to check in with them for details but all accounts so far they said they really like it! I definitely want to try the rotisserie chicken style next time, today for whatever reason I was craving a burrito, but I could tell from the chicken nugget that the chicken itself seems like a must have. So four people were eating (3 adults and a toddler), and we added a couple of sides just because we wanted to see what they were all about. With tax and service charge which I think is for ordering online plus we left 10% tip (which of course is optional) it was right around $70. that seems a little pricey, but you also have to realize that prices have gone up across-the-board pretty much everywhere. It's also all higher quality stuff so I think the old axiom "you get what you pay for" rings true. Also, the website is really nice and well constructed, I also thought it was cool that when you schedule ahead on an order, they are asking you to be there at that specific time. If done correctly, which it was today, you are in and out super fast. We will definitely return and try to get everything else on the menu

    Two tenders with scratch sauce

I meant to post a photo of my chicken bowl I ordered but I was so excited when it came that this is the only photo you get today. But you can see the chicken tenders my son has not yet finished because they are as big as his face.

The chicken dip sandwich is AMAZING. You can't go wrong with any side you choose! Definitely a go-to for our family at either location!

The butternut pasta was a perfect balance of savory and sweet, and way more filling than the portion size makes it look. The goat cheese pizza with arugula and bacon was SO good, and their pear pizza with prosciutto is personally my favorite thing on the menu. Our waitress was super friendly. This place works for pretty much any occasion: family dinner, friends outing, or a girls night catch up. Highly recommend and will absolutely be back.

I had my first dinner of my stay at Olive + Oak, and it blew me away from the moment I laid my eyes on it. From the unsuspecting street outside, the giant windows glow with the warm, sparkling light from within. An elegant dining room with a beautiful bar and a good amount of hustle and bustle. I felt like I was at an upscale New Orleans joint. Very cozy. Service was just as beautiful. Our server was extremely nice, new the menu backwards and forwards, and rattled off the nightly specials without hesitation. And on top of all of that, when we were getting some stuff to-go, she threw in more bread for us! You can't train that level of service. That's just a good person. Onto the food. We started off with the Blue Crab Gratin (calabrian chili, celery + pretzel bread). This was ooey, gooey, cheesy, delicious, had a fair amount of crab in it, had a nice little kick, and the sliced, crunchy pretzel bread dippers were exquisite. Something seasonal that isn't on their menu anymore, we ordered an Okonomiyaki, which is a savory Japanese pancake, basically, covered in sauce. Wow, this thing was done well. Very reminiscent of the authentic thing I've had in Japan. Very nice. Another dish that isn't on the menu anymore, the Catfish dish. It was slightly Asian and on top of some sort of risotto rice. I can't remember exactly, but I do remember that it was very well cooked, had a nice char. An eclectic dish that came together very nicely. I also got to try some of the Rabbit Crepe (port wine braised rabbit, blueberry, fennel, arugula + kenny's bleu gouda crepe). Some people might shudder at the idea of eating rabbit. Those people need to grow up. Rabbit is one of the most succulent, delicious meats out there, and in this wonderful flavor combination, in a crepe. This chef is genius. I could have downed two of these things. We finished off the night with the recommended Cloud Cake (vanilla chiffon cake, coconut pastry cream, coconut + whipped cream icing). This thing was de-ca-dent. A nice, thicc sponge, a very coconuty cream, and a whipped icing with lots of coconut pulp in it. So heavenly. Overall, my socks were blown off. Not only does St. Louis have good food, this was a better meal than I had in Nashville and Kansas City. Who would have guessed. I would love to come back.

We were seated promptly (we had reservations) We were greeted by our server; Kendall (sp?) and she was so friendly and professional. We ordered our drinks and bread service. We ordered our food and had just a little bit of a wait for our meals. I will say that it was clear when we got our food, that our wait was for our food to be prepared FRESH. I ordered the pasta special which was veal cannelloni and my lord it was so good. I wish it was on their regular menu. The cannelloni noodles were the perfect texture, and the veal filling was perfection. My brother ordered the Salmon piccata, which he orders each time he goes, so you know it's got to be good. I love how comfortable this place is too. The whole feel is cozy. The seating is very comfortable. I'm big on "the right, not too bright lighting, but also not too dark" and they have done a great job taking care of both. Great use of lamps at the tables. I have to give a super shout out to our server Kendall. She informed us at the end of the meal, while she was chatting with us briefly, that that night was only her 2nd night there. My only complaint is it is pricy for the portion sizes. We ordered crab cakes, tuna wraps & a burger/fries. The burger was cheapest & largest. Before discussing the food, let's talk about what's most important, and that's our waitress Eve. Our table of four had many questions regarding food as well as wine, and Eve had thoughts and recommendations for everything. It was a pleasant change from other servers when Eve had some recs for things that weren't the most expensive items on the menu (we've all experienced the servers who only recommend the top dollar plates). Eve listened carefully to what we wanted and had appropriate and mindful suggestions. Eve knew all about the wines and helped us pair properly per plate. The rest of the staff that crossed paths with our table were kind and helpful as well. As for the food... the Truffle Agnolotti was as to die for! Omg. Amazing. Full of flavor yet not heavy. It was the star of the table. Lastly, we were impressed with the selection of appropriately priced wines by the glass.
