I owe this place an apology. The signage outside doesn't do it justice. I drove by so many times thinking it was just another spot grilling Costco rotisserie chicken. I couldn't have been more wrong. Now I'm kicking myself for every day I passed by hungry without stopping in. I actually knew the food was going to be good the moment I walked in. The owner didn't put on a performance or overdo the customer service. There was a quiet confidence that said, "The food speaks for itself." And it absolutely does. The chicken was perfectly grilled, juicy, and seasoned all the way through. Every bite had balanced flavor instead of just seasoning on the outside. The beef kebab was done exactly the way it should be, tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. This wasn't fast food quality. It tasted like something you'd expect at a catered banquet or family celebration. Then there were the sides. The hummus was incredibly fresh, smooth, and creamy. The salad was crisp and vibrant. But the biggest surprise was the Armenian pilaf rice. I don't know what they do to it, but it completely stole the show. It was rich, buttery, perfectly cooked, and so flavorful that I honestly ran out of words. Fresh pita, generous portions, authentic flavors, and food that tastes like it was made with pride. If you've been driving past this place because the outside doesn't catch your attention, don't make the same mistake I did. Great deals on their family meals! We ordered to-go & got the one whole chicken meal served with hummus, rice, house salad, pack of pita bread & garlic spread. The chicken family meal was under $50 and it can easily feed 4 or more adults. We also got a beef kebab plate (Filet mignon, served with rice, hummus, salad & pita bread). They give generous portions of meat. The rotisserie chicken & beef kebab were tasty, tender & delicious & the rice was fluffy. This place needs to upgrade their rice. While I do appreciate the freshly grilled meats, I just can't take their mushy cafeteria quality rice. There is another skewer shop not too far away that starts with the letter K. Also grilled to order and better rice and side options. read more

A delicious quick lunch spot in Monrovia on Foothill, if you're looking for kebabs and creamy hummus this is perfect! Located in a small plaza Chicken King Express has lunch specials, plates of rice, salad, hummus, or even wraps at really decent prices. My husband and I came by to try it out last week and we just came back again since it was so good! We both have tried the lunch special chicken lule plate which comes with rice, hummus and salad asking with the quarter and half chicken plates which come with rice and hummus and everything comes with two pitas on the side. The half or quarter chickens were so juicy and delicious it was truly the reason we had to come back so soon. Fire chicken place! First time trying the restaurant and we are sold. The cashier was nice and explained to us their specials and different options. The menu is pretty simple and ready to go but they do have traditional Mediterranean food. We came early because we were hungry but it got busy and full as we ate our meal. The place had indoor seating and outdoor if prefer the fresh air, the inside does smell strongly of grilled check FYI. They have a variety of can sodas at a reasonable price. Since it was early they did not have the veggie options but was here for the chicken anyway. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, they give you a lot of food for price point. A really pleasant surprise of Mediterranean food in SGV. Fresh ingredients, large portions and seasoned perfectly. Situated in a little strip mall, this restaurant only got a few tables. Look like they are mainly on take out order. You can order their food through their website for pick up. I ordered 1/2 chicken plate and chicken kebabs plate. Both are excellent. Try chicken is tender but the skin is a little crisp and tasty. Their garlic sauce is one of the best one that I ever had. It does perfect with the chicken Price very reasonable. Still going strong as one of our fave local spots for Mediterranean food in the SGV! Been coming here for years and have loved everything we've ever tried - you can't go wrong. Lately we've been hooked on their chicken kebab wraps - the pita is thick and soft, the chicken cooked to perfection and so savory along with the garlic sauce, and it comes with rice and hummus. We also like their 1/4 chicken plates and beef kabobs. Their garlic sauce is the best in the area imo - so smooth and not overpowering like a lot of other places. Prices are decent and service is efficient and quick on the to-go orders too. They have lunch specials as well. Plenty of parking and lots of seating indoors and on their patio. Staff (esp the service/cashier) or chef...I don't know. Chicken lule was super dry/bland and very sub-par. It used to be 4.5+ but now about a 2.5. Plus counter people are rude. Perhaps bc i'm ugly.
