    Hummus & pita bread
    Stevo O.

Celebrating the Olympics by dining on Greek food seemed right, so we had dinner at our long time favorite Sierra Madre restaurant. My favorite is anything with a Gyro sandwich and a side of pita bread and hummus. The service here is remarkable, and is very quick and friendly. This Friday evening also included entertainment, with a guitar player and background music, providing a wonderful and entertaining evening.

    Moussaka Dinner

Came here with some friends on a Friday night as we were craving Mediterranean food. Got our seats pretty quickly and I ordered the moussaka. Moussaka was actually really delicious but I'd say it wasn't worth how much it costed. The items on the menu are quite expensive for so little but perhaps it's due to inflation and being in downtown sierra madre. I enjoyed the eggplant casserole but it was a bit on the sweeter side, tasted and smelled a bit like cinnamon on top which was weird. The vegetables were plain, nothing too fancy. This dish also came with a salad. Service was fast and efficient and there is indoor and outdoor seating.

    Lucky Baldwin Omelette

After enjoying a relaxing massage across the street, we headed to Corfu for brunch on a recent Sunday. We were seated immediately and it was great to see that brunch is served until 2pm on weekends. I ordered the Lucky Baldwin Omelette filled with chicken, cheese, and onions, accompanied by hash brown and sourdough toast. Hubby opted for the House Combo Platter, which included chicken kebab, beef kabab, and lule kabab. It is served with rice, pita, hummus, and tabbouleh. The portions were generous and everything was delicious. While I couldn't finish my omelette, my husband managed to clean his plate! The only downside is the food came out really slow. Despite the restaurant not being busy, we waited nearly 30 mins for our food. Because of this, I have to deduct one star. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and while we found street parking, there's also a lot in the back.

Me and my wife came and stumble over with this beautiful Turkish Armenian restaurant. They serve an implacable variety of Mediterranean and Spanish breakfast that will truly make your day. We recommend that you come and check them out. Their top notch friendly service and fresh grilled Cofta, Lamb, chicken barbeque shawarma with Turkish complimentary coffee will truly make you want to come back over and over again.

Stuffed cabbage rolls. One is missing because i ate it before i thought of photos.

i know i'm hitting my stride here now, having found this restaurant. most anyone this side of preschool can find a good, not to say great, tacqueria when it's needed. but i've reached the end of the line with mexican food for awhile. what i was desperately in need of was fresh salad, specifically a greek village salad. this isn't as easy to come by as it might seem out here in suburbia east of pasadena. in fact where i'm from it's impossible to come up with a real greek salad without crossing a fairly large bridge. plenty of italian, not the best either, but no greeks will have us. (PLEASE somebody who knows how move up north, we need you). i happened to mention this to a youngish woman in a grocery store and sure enough this place came with her highest recommendation. fortunately she seemed to me to be someone likely to know. so the salad was simply made as it should be, and generously sized almost for a complete dinner. to supplement we had stuffed cabbage rolls which were really well flavored, and came with veggies cooked just so. as we were leaving the waitperson (is that really necessarily the best way to describe her? no) recommended a great italian place nearby. my next outing will be there. just like doctors, you only need to find one good one to find the rest you might need. it's not corfu here of course, but I'll be back soon.

Honestly, I was so pleasantly surprised by Corfu. Their service was great. We went for a Mother's Day brunch, and we had a number of ladies and I have to say our server was so patient answered all of our questions and even made a pot of decaf for the ladies! The owner even came by and introduce himself and checked on us and it's just a great family owned place. The food was really tasty (forgot to take pics of some of the dishes!!!) The only thing I would mention is that I wish their salad had the Mediterranean Fattoush dressing. Their beef kabob was so tender and their rice was perfection!! Love their picked veggies!! Can't wait to go back!!!

They still have indoor and outdoor seating. Near open on a weekend, they were not very busy and it was quiet like on our last visit. The lady who took care of us sad that she is the sister of the owners. She was super nice and very attentive. We got the quiche Lorraine and a banana-Nutella crepe again. The crepe had consistently good quality compared to our last visit and is still just as good to comparable crepe places. Still not many places make quiche and of those that do, even fewer make the dense and thick slice pie style MCC makes--which is the good and high quality type. The quiche was actually better than our last visit and while we do not know, it still seeks like they make it on site. You still need lactaide to eat if u r intolerant, but it's definitely worth it. Recommend you get fruit instead of salad with it. Since their food is so rich/caloric/comfort food, we cannot come here too often, but when you are in the mood for a treat, this is a great place to go! Definitely recommend to give them a try!

They also serve up delicious quiches, sandwiches, and French onion soup. I love the cafe's cozy and quaint atmosphere, and how friendly the staff all were. I've ordered their quiches and sandwiches to go before, and I've enjoyed each item I tried, especially the spinach goat cheese quiche and the caprese sandwich. I've been meaning to try their crepes for the longest time and luckily, I finally found the chance to dine in. I ordered the La Opera breakfast crepe, which came filled with eggs, cheese, onions, and avocado. It had the perfect balance of textures and flavors, with the thin crispy edged crepe cradling the savory filling. I loved how the richness of the eggs, cheese, onions, and avocado all complemented the delicate buttery taste of the crepe shell. All in all, Monsieur Crepe Cafe is a hidden gem and everything they make is fantastic. ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. Lobster: we enjoyed the Colette special sauce, it was aromatic with the basil, good level of spice, and lobster meat was cooked perfect. Salt and pepper calamari: great crunch, wish it had a little more salt & pepper & garlic seasoning most pieces weren't coated, but the calamari texture had the perfect chew. Crispy vermicelli with beef: loved the crispy noodles and soft beef stir fry textures together, definitely ask for chili oil with this dish, it needs that extra umph of flavor for the noodles. Salted egg yolk pumpkin: I normally love this dish, only wished the outside was crispier, got soggy fast and with how thick these are cut you want the crispy exterior, but flavor was good. Only thing that made me feel a bit "eh" was the chipped plateware they have and continue to use. Service - wonderful! Everyone was so friendly and had nice customer service. They even helped recommend dishes and also share opinions on what we shouldn't order which I loved. Parking - free parking lot! There are a few spaces right in front of the restaurant. This is one of those places people force themselves to like because everyone else does. If you…read moredon't, you're treated like you "just don't get it," and you'll probably get a few eye rolls from people who act like this place is the seventh wonder of the world. Social media makes this place look charming and delicious, but the second you walk in, you realize you're basically eating inside a Goodwill store with Goodwill-grade food. The dusty piles of random junk, the half-broken chairs, and the sticky, mismatched plastic tables don't create "character." They create the feeling that you're eating breakfast in a dirty hoarder's house. Save yourself the drive and just imagine that instead. Parking is another mess. Weekend mornings are especially bad, and if you don't get lucky, be prepared for a hike. To make things even more confusing, there's a bright yellow rock painted with "Mary's" sitting in front of a nearby parking lot. Naturally, it makes you think the lot belongs to the restaurant because there are no signs saying parking isn't allowed. Surprise. It doesn't belong to Mary's at all. It's private parking, and the random painted rock only adds to the confusion. The drink selection is practically nonexistent. There's free, lukewarm water that you pour yourself into questionable-looking secondhand cups, and coffee with Coffee Mate as your creamer option. If you want a soda etc., grab it from the 7-Eleven-style cooler. Nothing says "iconic breakfast/lunch" like lukewarm coffee/water or a bottled whatever next to what tastes like frozen, microwaved food. The menu is limited, and the food quality doesn't make up for it. I paid $4 for a side of potatoes and got a few burned cubes that were about the size of Legos. The waffle syrup tasted like straight-up Aunt Jemima poured from a plastic bottle. Nothing about this meal justified the prices or the hype. I genuinely don't understand the obsession with this place. It's one of the strangest dining experiences I've ever had because the people who love it talk about it like it's life-changing and magic. So very wrong. It isn't a hidden gem. It should JUST stay hidden. Maybe people from LA just aren't used to real mountain town or country breakfast spots. I've eaten at small breakfast diners in tiny towns across different states that were cleaner, served far better food, and cost less than this place. Stop believing the perfectly edited social media videos and the glowing reviews from people who've never ventured beyond LA. This place isn't magical, charming, or worth the hype. It's overpriced, disappointing, and one of the biggest letdowns I've had in a long time. It is a literal trash heap.
