Finally made it today, and I was impressed! Great service paired with great food. The prices are very reasonable for the quality--Corn Cheese for $10 in 2025 Canada is a steal! The grilled squid was disappointing--too dry and not worth the $24. I wouldn't recommend ordering it. We had a reservation and arrived 10 minutes late, but they kindly waited for us (they allow a maximum 15-minute grace period for reservations). If you make a reservation, they'll offer you a private room, which was a nice touch. The atmosphere was just right--not too loud but lively enough to enjoy. For 3 people, including a 60oz beer, the bill came to $130 no tax. Overall, a great experience, and I'd definitely return (just not for the grilled squid!). Lol

We got 3 dishes and shared between all 3 of us. The Soontofu was great! The tofu and egg is made all the more delicious by the stew itself. The menu marked it as spicy but it was very mild compared to what I expected. The Pork Backbone Stew was just mouthwatering. The deep salty flavour you can only get from boiling real meat and bone really shines on this dish. It has chunks of potatoes that crumble easily once you take a bite into them. It was also marked as spicy so I asked our server if it's possible to make it milder since we already had the Soontofu, but they mentioned that it's already premade (10 hours of cooking time. Bless their hardworking staff), and that its less spicy that what I was probably imagining. When we got it, it actually was even less spicy than the Soontofu - so much that I don't recall it registering as spicy whatsoever! We also got half an order of honey garlic fried chicken. I have a bit of a sweet tooth and the sweet sauce they made hit just the right spot for me. The chicken pieces were also delightfully crisp! Tables and chairs were neat and not sticky. Our server was attentive and friendly. Wish there was a little bit more rice that came with the stews, but it's still pretty good for what you get, especially if you share dishes.

That and all my go to Korean places were closed Monday. L and I got there just before the rush and were able to snag a table. I don't know what Wing Chicx's deal is but either their layout is terrible or they need to train their staff better because we were asked to move once we had settled down along with another couple to make room for a larger group. Wouldn't have been an issue but the rest of service was terrible. It's a rarity that I complain about service but woooooooow, dreadful would be putting it nicely. There were two waitresses working the front but they were running around like headless chickens. Or maybe they were hiding in the back, I have no idea. Sure, it was busy but it wasn't packed. I have no idea why/how it was so hard to take our order, re-fill our waters (that didn't happen), and to process our payment (had to ask multiple times for the bill). - Banchan - pretty standard stuff. They brought out kim chi, bean sprouts, braised potato and pickled daikon. The potato was the tastiest of the four side dishes. Good luck getting any refills. - Jap chae (#32) ($11.99) - pan stir fried sweet potato noodle with beef and assorted vegetables in their special soy sauce. My bud's never had jap chae before and I've never had Wing Chicx's take on this Korean staple so we ordered it. It was pretty average. I'm not a fan of the cabbage that they throw into the mix. Can't help but compare how much better Korean Grill's version was. - Original bulgogi beef (1D) ($16.00) - bulgogi beef with mixed vegetables marinated in Wing Chicx bulgogi soy sauce. Again, I wasn't very impressed. It was almost identical to their jap chae dish except that there was more beef and an unnecessary, excessive amount of cabbage. And seriously, what's with using the exact same vegetables? I know times are tough with increased food prices but yikes. At $16.00, our most expensive dish, I wouldn't order it again. - Chicken drumsticks ($10.99) - they were out of full chickens (we wanted to get half a chicken for $15.00) so we settled with their 6 piece drumstick option. These came out PIPING hot. You've been warned. The skin is hot, crispy and evenly battered while the inside is tender and juicy. Pretty good but you need to get a side of the sweet sauce to jazz up the flavours. We asked for extra sauce but that never came. Easily the best dish of the night and price is on point. I prefer their half chicken option as you get a variety of cuts and it just soaks up the sauce better. - Seafood pan fried pizza (8-S) ($12.99) - assorted seafood and mixed vegetables battered together and pan fried. It came without the vinegar soy sauce that usually accompanies seafood pancakes, which they didn't bring out until we were two thirds done. Of course, we weren't able to flag them down to tell them this so we gave up and ate it without. Sadly, It NEEDED sauce to save it. The pancake itself was mediocre. Lacked any crispy texture (read: kind of mushy) and the amount of seafood inside was laughable. Pretty disappointing. This was one of those times where bad service really can affect your food experience. Food was above average but it's no longer on my list when I'm thinking of going out for Korean food. Too many choices these days to have to settle for mediocrity. If you go, make sure you order the dishes they're known for doing well and you should be okay.

The Rosu & Hire Katsu, a mix of pork sirloin and tenderloin cutlet, is $20. That's not bad; they were well-cooked, juicy, and crispy. I didn't try the cheese katsu, which I really wanted to, but maybe next time I'll order the mixed set for $26. The beef and egg hot stone dish is $18. It's pretty standard for a hot stone dish, but the stone was definitely hot and had a very Korean feel. I liked this one the most. Not a fan of either, my interest to try out Miga wasn't peaked until I saw their full menu floating around online, extensive list! Soft Clear Noodles with Beef and Vegetables - Japchae - ($18) - Lacked flavoring, I'm use to the subtle sesame oil taste in most of the Japchaes' that I order which this lacked. So for me this one was pretty bland. Noodles were nice and soft, impressed with how long the noodles were too. Pork Neck Bone Soup - Gamja-Tang - ($15) - Pretty solid bowl! Had three very generous sized bones with ridiculously tendered meat. Didn't need any spoon action, meat flaked off with just a scrape from the chopsticks. Which guarantees that the soup had plenty of flavor. Had a sharp kick of spice which balanced really well with the savory meat bites. But like the first dish, was missing some of flavor, perilla seeds and pepper topped on top usually adds that additional subtle kick that blends well with the spice, which wasn't provided in this. Also worth noting that with how flavorful the soup was, the potatoes were really bland. Korean Style Barbecue Short Ribs - Galbi - ($28) - Gorgeous coloring with a strong savory marinade that resulted in an amazing caramelized crust on the edges of each rib. The vegetables were fresh and the sauce did not overpower the taste of the food. The rice had that crunch from the bottom of the bowl. I wasn't able to finish my meal and happily took it home to have for the next day. We had a good chat with Henry and learned they also do catering. Not the place that I would normally go to. However, I went here because their Korean Bibimbap was rated one of the top 100 things to eat in Edmonton. So we decided to go with that - hubby chose the beef and I chose the tofu version. We ordered an order of mandu (pork dumplings) and kimchi jeon (think pancake with spicy cabbage). Food wasn't so quick considering that it looks like a fast food place but when it arrived it was tasty. I think our favourite was the mandu. The pork was moist and flavourful. The dumpling well made and a delicous chewy wrapper. We also loved the kimchi jeon. it was a little greasy, but the kimchi was spicy. My husband also liked it and he hates kimchi. With our main meal it came with kimchi, pickled daikon and and a ginseng chicken broth. The additions were lovely. Particularly the chicken broth. I could order it by the bucket. It would be great to sip on if you are sick. The kimchi was impressive. You could tell that it is homemade. The Bibimbap was fine, but not the best in Edmonton. So it was a bit disappointing. My husband's beef was well marinated but my tofu was plain. A marinated tofu would have worked better. Try Hanjan instead. I would go back here to try a few dishes if I needed a quickish lunch. Food was fresh. Flavour was a bit lacking in the bibimbap. However, for a resonable price you can have a vibrant, healthy lunch.
