Decided to take a random weekend adventure out to Edmonton to visit some family and went on a few foodie adventures. Got to try some korean fried chicken and it did not disappoint. Seoul Fried Chicken is probably hands down the best chicken place in Edmonton that I have tried to date! My brother and I have it fairly regularly (probably about once a month) so I thought I would introduce some of my coworkers to it as well. It's also probably the best bang for your buck fried chicken too. You can get a fully 20 pc box of chicken and a side for a little over $30 - this will probably feed about 3 or 4 people depending on how much you eat. With all the covid, social isolating and budget cuts to the public sector, my coworkers and I have still been working on site as essential workers knowing we won't have jobs after June so we have started doing a weekly lunch to lift spirits. This week we decided to do SFC as there were a few people in the office who have never had it before and it's been nice to introduce people to new places around the city. I placed my order online around 930-10am that day and left a request for it to be delivered around 11:45am. It was all super simple and convenient. The driver called just before leaving the restaurant to double check the address and let me know he was on his way. The food showed up exactly when it was supposed to and it was hot and ready for lunch. We ordered a full Garlic Soy, fully BBQ, 1/2 OG, 1/2 Onion Lovers, Kale Caesar, Sesame Potato Slaw and a Mac n' Cheese Pesto for about 11 people. Everyone LOVED SFC! Everyone also loved how tender and juicy the chicken was. Everyone's favorites varied but the BBQ (sweet with a little bit of spice) and the Garlic Soy (Kind of like a honey garlic but not over the top sweet) were definitely a majority favorite. The mac n' cheese is always one of my favorite sides, as it's different from typical man n'cheese and doesn't feel super heavy. I have never had the slaw or the caesar before today but I found them both good. The slaw was also light and refreshing. One coworker stated "you know this chicken was made with love" and many of the them said they would definitely have SFC again. Lunch was a huge hit. Prices are pretty standard ($14-15 for half a chicken - 10 pcs) or around $27 for the full chicken (20pcs). You can also get 5pcs of chicken and a beer for around $12. The best value pick for me was the 5pc set ($11.40) that comes with 5 pcs of chicken, half portion of salad, your choice of fries or a corn fritter, and a can of pop/bottled water. My boyfriend and I tried the garlic soy and the GP Cheese with grated grano padano with kale caesar, mac and cheese pesto and fries. The garlic soy chicken was good, not too salty and was flavourful. The GP cheese was VERY cheesy and heavy.. I still enjoyed it but my bf found it to be too heavy. I think its best to order the cheese flavour with another flavour to break up the heaviness a little bit. The Kale caesar was good and the mac and cheese is good if you love your pesto. The fries were subpar in my opinion, too thick so ended up tasting kinda mushy. Overall, the only critque I have really is that the fries are mediocre and they seem to give pieces of the whole chicken and not just thighs/drumsticks so there were pieces that were very small with very little meat. read more

My boss told me about SFC and said it was the best chicken she's had. I came in with a friend. We were in the area, and looking to give this place a try. We'd driven by a few days before and noticed it was packed with people and there was hardly any parking. That was on a Saturday night, so I can figure that. Even a few days later, on a Monday at 4pm, this place was full of people. And I can see why. The restaurant itself is quite small, there are only a handful of places to sit and eat. I got an order of the 5 piece cilantro lime chicken. The chicken is breaded and fried, but unlike other fried chicken places (ahem Colonel) this chicken is not greasy, but it's still moist and delicious. The cilantro lime has cilantro (full leaves and lots of them) and has a lime/cilantro Chimichurri sauce for dipping. It was a amazing. There are a few other types of chicken and sauces you can get, as well as sides and drinks. The 5 pieces was way more than enough food for me, but I've heard the the corn fritters are also amazing and huge. This place is busy, and you might need to take your order to go. I downloaded the app (from their website) because I was craving fried chicken on Jan 2, 2020. (Diet? What diet?) The app is easy to use. Delivery charge was reasonable: around $5. It beats bundling up kids in winter wear, buckle them in, and probably struggle with them while trying to order food. I have walked by Seoul Fried Chicken last year and saw there was limited seating capacity. It didn't look like they have any high chairs from the outside. Here are the great highlights: delicious fries, love the original deep fried chicken (the kids liked it too). Not too greasy, which is nice. Oh man, they should put a spicy warning on the BBQ chicken! I want to try the soy garlic chicken next time. My husband and kids aren't a fan of spicy. The BBQ chicken is more tolerable the next day. The "meh" side (hence 1 Star less): corn fritter seemed a bit raw/doughy in the middle. Our estimated delivery time was 6:22 pm but it was nearly 7 pm when our food finally arrived. Don't make the mistake of ordering the 5 piece chicken + beer ($12.50) combo like I did the first time. You don't get any of the sides. Literally just the chicken and a beer. Ripoff. - SFC BBQ - we got the sesame potato slaw and corn fritter as our sides. Potato slaw was refreshing but a bit too sauced. People rave about the corn fritter but it was just okay. The chicken itself was nicely breaded, for the most part tender but the sauce was barely spicy. A bit too much sweetness for us. - Garlic soy - for this one, we opted for the house fries and kimchi. House fries could have been crispier but at least they're homemade. Kimchi was solid. I preferred the garlic soy over the SFC BBQ sauce. Would have liked it to be more garlicky. So good! I finally made it here and my friend and I vowed to come back. The chicken coating was so crunchy and I got the garlic and soy flavour which was delish. It's different than other chicken joints because they don't give you the cuts you're used to but rather how they divide the chicken which I found I liked a lot. First of all the chicken was seasoned very well without the sauces but when you add one of their sauces to the mix it is just over the top delicious. The biggest downsides to this place are two things... it is tiny! Very few seats for how busy it gets here so you might have to get things to go. When I opened the dinner at home I discovered that I had been given 6 pieces - so I now I know what I'll be having for lunch tomorrow! The chicken was very good! The fries were good as well. I finally was able to try out Seoul Fried Chicken and it didn't disappoint! I came over a lunch hour and there was a line up. The place is small and not much room to dine in but we did manage to snag a table before ordering. Keep this in mind when you are going to grab some food as it can be busy. You may want to order out. Each table has a bucket to dispose of your chicken bones. I thought that was a nice touch. The line moved quickly and were able to order in no time. You can order 1/2 order of chicken for $13 (on average) which is 10 pieces of chicken or a full order of chicken for $26 (on average) for 20 pieces of chicken. You have 7 flavours to choose from: gold crispy, Korean BBQ, onion lover, garlic soy, cilantro lime, grated grand padano cheese and golden kari - Japanese curry. By ordering a couple of half orders you can mix and share different flavours. They also offer a 5 piece chicken set that comes with 2 choices of sides for $11. My friend and I chose this option. When the order came we were amazed at all of the food that we got for the amazing price. We could have easily shared one meal but this way we were able to sample some of the flavours. We tried the Korean BBQ and the Garlic Soy and both did not disappoint. The BBQ has a bit of kick to it so if you don't have a tolerance for spice, this isn't one I would pick. The chicken was fried nicely having that crispy crunch and it is super moist. We had fries and the kale cheese salad as our sides and bother were equally delicious. Oh did I forget to mention?
