Ordered medium spicyand with chicken thighs. At first I thought med was not very spicy at all and I was disappointed. Then I remembered there is a selection of sauces to add. Ever go by a place and you never dropped in because it's just " another chicken place " .. Last night I went in here for dinner and it was amazing . There is a sign outside that reads " you've never had chicken like this ".. and they're right. I have had some amazing chicken for dinner and by far I think the best is anywhere from Africa. The spices is what gives ordinary chicken its flavor and when I say to go here.. you will not regret it. Prices are reasonable and for what you get it's worth it. The chicken was perfect. Crispy and spicy ( it has a bit of a kick to it. Not much and not too little ) on the outside and juicy on the inside. For dessert a delicious puff pastry with baked custard with a sprinkle of cinnamon. The service was good . But I came for the food and by far it's the best chicken I had. .. We haven't been here for a while so today it's lunch at Nando's. It's very easy to find if you are arriving from the south as it's right on Gateway Boulevard near the CIBC. Upon arrival we were disappointed to learn that they no longer sell coffee or any hot beverages. The server then tried to explain how peculiar it is to drink coffee with a meal. I ordered the chicken wrap which was priced fairly and tasted okay. It was nothing special but it was fine. There's a choice of sides rather than just fries so I went with the Brussels Sprouts (I know call me weird). They were good. The wrap was messy but there's a sink and tap in the middle of the restaurant for washing hands so that's kind of nice. With this being Black History Month Nando's is a good choice of a place to dine. Maybe I'll return next year. read more

This was my second time ever at Nando's. I went when it first opened in Edmonton and didn't really feel strongly about it. However this time around I was shocked at how much I enjoyed a lot of the food. It made me question whether I had ordered the wrong items during my first visit. Ironically enough, a lot of what I enjoyed were items aside from their chicken (which was good itself). The mashed potatoes and garlic bread were really good, as were a lot of the sides. The peri peri sauces and especially the Nando's garlic mayo are condiments I have really used a lot of at home since picking up a few bottles during my visit. The best item hands down was the egg tart. I love the egg tart, I got seconds. I even still think about the egg tart. The only thing stopping me from getting it right now is my generally low carb diet. However, Nando's is now a viable option for me when it's time for a cheat meal! read more

We are SO disappointed with this location. Each time we order food for delivery from this location, something goes wrong. We learned that we shouldn't order olives with our main meals because it is ALWAYS forgotten. And then we call the restaurant and are promised that olives will come with our next order with them, whenever that may be. The olives are probably forgotten because the order isn't fulfilled with the food that is prepared in the kitchen. This evening, we placed an order for a family dinner for delivery on the Nando's website - Gateway location. Our children selected the side dishes and were very much looking forward to our meal...and we didn't order olives based on our past experiences. After over an hour of waiting for our food, we received a notification that our order had been cancelled. When we contacted the restaurant, we discovered that Door Dash drivers are contacted to deliver orders placed on the Nando's website. It turns out the driver who picked up our food just never delivered it. The response from two individuals we spoke to on the phone was lacking in customer service, suggesting we call Door Dash to place a complaint. Which doesn't make sense, considering we didn't order through them in the first place. Other than apologies, there were no other means to rectify the situation, essentially to try and smooth over this situation. We keep giving this location second and third chances, but we will not give our business anymore. We have had much better experiences with the Brewery District location. We are sharing this review to alert the abysmal management and customer service of this location to the constant issues with food ordered for delivery, and to do better. read more

Hubby and I got to come for a weekday supper date and we were not disappointed. The service was amazing and the ambiance is that of a family style restaurant. The elevated flavours all integrate nicely and the Portuguese dessert is the perfect sweet finish. I love that you can choose the level of fierce heat individually. The servers were so friendly and even in a busy restaurant they served us with a smile. I liked the ample amount of parking available in the front and surrounding the restaurant. Being Pregnant, your craving brain tempts you to eat junk food a lot. I wanted to satisfy my craving while eating little healthy. I placed pick up order thru Uber Eats and order was ready on time. My husband and I, had dinner at the Brewery District location recently, and was blown away by the amazing hospitality of their entire team. It's been about a year and a half since we've dined in at Nandos, and over 5 years since I've been back to this location. Glad to see their Brewery District restaurant is still beautiful, and the food incredible. Defs give them a try. We ordered the Full Pack, which is a full chicken with 2 sides. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Juicy on the inside and a little crispy on the outside. Loved it. Food was amazing but very very disappointed in the portions for the sides. I ordered 2 family meals which came with 2 large sides each. Unfortunately the sides were so small, each family member got no more than a spoon or 2 full. Our party of 5 was seated right away. We just beat the rush. The chicken is truly delicious. I don't even like chicken. I hoovered my dish like a starving man. I had the whole wheat wrap. There was fresh cilantro and other veggies in there with pepper jam for sweetness. My chicken had medium spice which was just right for me. My partners had quarter chickens and garlic mashed potatoes. The Caesar salad was crisp and bright, but I'd prefer the Parmesan cheese to be finely grated instead of thick shavings. Oh well. I have visited this Nando's a few times and I really like the brand. I find that the ordering process needs a bit of instruction but once you figure it out it's an efficient system. Upon entering, you are greeted by a casual space with very particular decoration which matches their roots. I am a big fan of the PERi PERi chicken -- its name is from Swahili 'piri-piri' meaning 'pepper-pepper' -- and I would definitely say that the seasoning and pleasant taste of pepper, as the name entails, is quite good and leaves you wanting more. I felt that the food overall was great value for what you get in terms of flavour and level of satisfaction. I really enjoyed their PERi-Fries; it was crispy on the outside and the seasoning was on-point. In particular, I would recommend the 1/2 Chicken and PERi-Fries combo -- it is definitely the best value! Their Chicken Sandwich is quite good also; I loved the tenderness of the chicken and, again, the seasoning was great. The sauces are so good as well. The Lemon and Herb and the Garlic sauce are both superb and in terms of flavour I really enjoyed the different levels of acidity and spice. My consensus of Nando's is that it is a great place to try out for the food but I am always left disappointed when it came to the noise-level of the place. It could definitely be improved upon. One thing or maybe two: Since the last time I went ( 1.5 years ago) the ice machine had been out of order. Took my daughter and a few of her friends to Nandos on Saturday to help perk them up following their soccer match. The orders consisted of regular leg thigh quarter chicken, fries, coleslaw and corn. When this branch of Nando's initially opened up you had to wait to get a table. As time has gone by the novelty appears to have worn off and so has the staff attention to cleaning the chicken and venue. Their are those parts of the chicken that if not cleaned they cook like liver and taste awful. In addition, and in comparison to Europe the price is expensive for the size chicken you receive; and why don't they drop the price when seasonal corn is not available like overseas all year round? They have a consistent formula that is regulated I'm sure for their coleslaw dressing but it appears this branch will add more black pepper to their coleslaw than coleslaw. No one came over during our meal to ask how it was ... I had to go to the order desk to see attention. Lastly, the chairs and tables are sticky. The bathrooms need regular upkeep. The first time I tried Nando's was on my friends birthday, it was a take out order, when I tried it I was happily impressed. No too spicy, not plain, not overcooked or raw. The spices on the fries, the chicken, the rice and the veggies were welcomed. They did a good job packing all the food, no leaks, the food was still warm when we sat at the table. The second time my coworker and I went to this location to grab a bite after a long day at work. My coworker is following this weight watchers program and she was very concern about her meal and the points and she was so happy to find tons of options for her plan so it was a win win. After this time I have been here at leas half dozen times. As everyone else mentioned this is a Fast food idea of service, order at the till, serve your own drinks and bring sauces and dressings to the table. Customize your spicy level, and your sides. If you are more that two try the family packages, the sizes of the sides are bigger and you will get more from your money. Also if during your time in the restaurant you want something else, let say another side, and ice cream, coffee, etc you don't have to go to the till again, the servers will take your order and will bring the Credit Card Terminal. We asked then find out we were supposed to order from the bar, pour our own drinks from the soda fountain and get our silverware. Anyhow, the peri peri chicken was both tasty and juicy. The coleslaws had a kick to it and the chippers were very crunchy. There were also two different sauces available: peri peri garlic and peri peri extra hot as condiments. It was 6 on a Saturday night and the place was almost full. We weren't eating in but getting take out and joined the line with about 5 people in front of us at the cash area. If I was seated around this area, I would really like the line up crowd right beside my table. We were given take out menus when we went in so we had lots of time to review it while we stood in line. Since I can't handle heat, I order a half chicken lemon and herb with 2 sides, classic fries and peri peri potato wedges. The wedges has a bit of heat to it from the spices and it wasn't too hot for me. The fries were average and I felt the same way about the chicken. I've had Nandos delivery before in Richmond, BC it was ok. My in-laws are all South Africans so we're quite familiar with Peri peri. Last night was my first time going to a restaurant. It was so much better. The restaurant vibe is very cool with great seating and colourful art on the walls. We figured out the process and sat to wait. My favorite part is the unlimited pop. There's a machine that has every pop you could ever want. I had lemon cocoa cola then lime coke and finally vanilla cherry cream Soda. I'd go back just for that. Our meals were delivered to our table. My mango chicken was so juicy and tender. I also got fries with peri peri mayonnaise. I tried the hot peri peri sauce and it was not crazy spicy but a good flavour. The cost for two adults with drinks was under $30. I love nandos but I guess recently they decided to change box sizes and now I will never be ordering from here again. They change there large box to there small boxes. I spent 95 dollars on a meal for 5 people ordered the four person platter with extras( large ceaser and extra garlic bread) and didn't even feed my family. I have ordered this same thing and had left overs as it should be for 100 dollars. Super chocked! Had never been here before. Heard the chicken was unique and tasty. The problem is the staff. Seems to be a bunch of kids who don't seem too interested in the needs of the customers. Inattentive, you'll stand there for 5 minutes and they will ask someone else to take your order. Is it a cafeteria or a sit down restaurant? Weird concept. Nobody smiles. Nobody greets you. Sure, during covid things are difficult, but the staff do joke around with each other, they just don't pay attention to the customers. I know exactly what I'm getting every time. I don't crave specific food usually... just food in general... haha... but since discovering Nandos.... I crave it often. The Portuguese garlic bread is unreal. Extra hot chicken dipped in garlic Nandos sauce is heaven. The peri peri fries are hands down the best fries ever. I will say, though, that this is not somewhere to order off skip the dishes.... they package it in a way that it gets cold by the time it gets to you and the fries are soggy. The place is very clean and surprisingly if you go in before dinner 4-5 it's not busy so you actually eat there! I ordered the half chicken meal which comes with sides. The portions are large to feed 2-3 people. I ordered the hot and garlic lemon herb spiced chicken. It was very well worth it! The chicken was amazingly flavoured and super moist inside. It was perfect. The sides I ordered were the spiced rice and mashed potatoes. Again, the spiced rices super flavourful and mashed potatoes so smooth and melt in your mouth. I LOVE BEING ABLE TO FIND PARKING EVEN WHEN THE RESTAURANT IS SO BUSY. However, if you're busing, you're gonna have a bit more difficulty getting to this location. Another great thing is that despite how busy this place is, the washrooms are NOT gross. And it doesn't smell like chicken. The employees here are so kind. We were asked if we needed help plenty of times throughout the night, which was definitely appreciated. The atmosphere here is so fun! The walls are brightly coloured and the lighting is pretty nice. This is definitely a place you wanna be with good company like friends or family. Great date spot as well, however if you opt for chicken, the messy eating may not be that attractive for first dates and impressions. Someone tell me how to eat a chicken wing cutely please. I was a little confused at first because although they bring your food to you, once you're ready to order, you have to line up at the till to place it. Make sure you remember your table number and don't be embarrassed like I was. Also, you can stack up on napkins and utensils yourself. There are also sauces that may be on your table already or that you can pick up yourself. So if you're sharing and you like spicy chicken but your friend will die from it, fear not! You can dunk and coat and marinate your chicken in spicy sauce. We got the Wing Roulette ($12.95) which was extremely fun! I can handle my spice, but it was pretty funny watching my friend's face change in horror when she bit into a really spicy one. I think this is a great idea to bond with friends and have a good time. The fries here are really good and the garlic mashed potatoes are so good, I almost died. The Peri-Peri Sliders ($8.95) were pretty good ngl, perfect if you're looking to try a sample of their sandwich/wrap options. The soda machine is the best thing ever. We were so excited to try as many flavours as we could. There were definitely some new favourites discovered. There is also bottomless frozen yogurt for $3.95, so if you're looking for lots of ice cream, definitely go for it. Their Pasteis de Natas ($2.50), or traditional Portuguese custard tart, was very good. I always get these at T&T so of course I had to try some here. But for $2.50 each, its not something a portuguese tart lover and broke college student should indulge in. I have to say, after this meal of sharing our food, trying a million different soda options and forcibly stuffing in tarts, I was a very full and happy person. Probably gained five pounds from this meal but it was definitely worth it. I recommend coming with a big group if its your first time so that you can try lots of different things. Definitely worth all that hype. And if you're not a fan of these large crowds and such, remember, there is always takeout :) read more

A couple weeks ago my friends and I were going downtown for dinner and we passed by the Whitemud. By the CIBC just off Gateway I noticed a Nando's and I believe I may have said something like "OMIGOD WE HAVE A NANDO'S!!!!!" So yeah I was a little excited about Nando's since I'd tried them in London, Vancouver, and Victoria (many years ago). Would it be as good in etown as I'd remembered from my travels? My friends and I went for lunch. Nando's is a casual dine in restaurant, and it works the way Famoso did (before they went full serve). You get seated at table with a number, and you get the menus. You go up to the cash register and place your order (don't forget to give them your table menu), and pay for everything. They'll bring the food out and drinks (except the self serve pop) when it's ready. Nando's is famous for their chicken, which comes in mild, lemon and herb spice, or medium, hot, or extra hot. It's a piri piri sauce that they use, which is a Portuguese/African sauce that's spicy, and creamy and delicious. You can get a half or quarter order of chicken, or there are lunch options like a chicken wrap, pita sandwich, or salad. I got the pita with medium spiced chicken and a side of potatoe wedges. There are a few vegetarian options, as well as some appetizers and desserts. The pita wrap (half a pocket) was really good. The chicken at Nando's is super tender and it was filled with veggies (a little messy, but you're encouraged to eat with your hands). I got it medium spiced and it wasn't too bad. I'd actually try the hot spice next time (and there are extra bottles of sauce you can grab for your table if you want). The potato wedges were good, but a little saltier than I would have liked. I got the "piri-naise" which is the piri piri sauce and mayonnaise. It was good. The pop machine is interesting. It's a self-serve touch-screen with a whole bunch of different pop combinations (they advertise it as being over 100 on the menu). I got a cherry coke, but one friend got a low cal raspberry ice tea and another friend got a vanilla root beer. It's kind of cool, and pretty easy to figure out (if you can read a screen), but it is placed in a weird spot (in the middle of the restaurant) and got pretty crowded (especially because people were trying to decided what crazy combination to try). I noticed in other Yelp reviews that there's been some service issues, but I didn't find that to be a problem when we went. Maybe we lucked out getting there at a good time (we got there at 1130am), but our food was ready in about 10 minutes. There's a server who comes after your food is delivered to make sure you don't need anything else. He checked on our table a couple of times and was very friendly. Nando's wasn't busy when we got there, but by noon it was (and there was a lineup outside). Perhaps it's just because this is the only Nando's in the city (so far), but if you're coming for lunch you may want to get there early. I'm hoping there'll be some more Nando's opening up soon. read more

I would never have believed that an exclusively chicken restaurant would be as amazing as this was but I was blown away by the portions, service and then, of course, the taste of the meal. I've only been for lunch but this casual dine in restaurant has such a nice atmosphere. You walk in, get seated with menus and then place your order at the cash register. They then bring you your meal. It's a nice combination of fast food and full serve. You can order a different spices on the chicken - from mild to crazy hot so everyone can get what they want. And, they have great sides or starters - wedges, fries, olives, garlic mashed potatoes. But, if you do end up sharing - you can always get a little extra sauce for yourself. All of the sauces are on the side for you to add a little extra flavour - or to take home. They sell the sauces as well which is an extra bonus for those of us who have fallen for the flavour and want to take it home with us! Now, the issue is to figure out which one to buy.... read more
