yangyum
Janey T.

I orderd the Fried half and half ($33.75), where I got the yangyum (Spicy and sweet sauce) and the soy garlic flavours. I really enjoyed the tenderness of the chicken and how they were bite sized. There were 20 pieces in total and it came in a vented box with radish on the side.

After a couple hours of beach v-ball, we were ready for dinner. I wanted to try a new Korean spot so decided to give Country Coco a shot. They took over from Luscious Kitchen and before that, Sambol Sri Lankan (RIP). This plaza has really become Korean with Miga, Pocha Seoul, Gagnon Street Foods and Let Eat Snow all in the same plaza. We dropped in on a Sunday evening (around 5:00pm). It was dead inside besides several takeout orders. Service was excellent. Love how they have a button that you press to get their attention. The menu consists of barbecue chicken, fried chicken (aka. KFC), shares & sides and a few combo options. Chicken orders takes 15-20 minutes as they're made to order. - Banchan - you only get side dish, cubed radish, but these were crunchy and light. - COCO rabokki (#19) ($14.00) - our waitress warned us that this was very spicy but it was mild at best. Standard fare and you don't get much noodles. Skip it. - French fries (#24) ($6.00) - we opted for the swing cheese ($1.50 extra). Fries were light but still had a crispy bite. The swing cheese was tasty. Would get again. - Joomul bob (#23) ($6.00) - never had or seen this dish before. You mix up the ingredients yourself and form them into rice balls. Super tasty! - Goon mandu (#24) ($8.00 for 5) - deep fried dumplings. Standard. - Original purio (#12) ($18.00 for 10) - we opted for the sweet butter seasoning. One friend found it too cheesy while another thought it was delicious (and normally doesn't like the cheese topped chicken). I found the chicken was the juiciest (of the three flavours) that we tried. - Fried half & half (#13) ($32.00 for 20) - 10 pieces of crispy (aka. original) and 10 pieces with the yang yum sauce. The OG was a consensus favourite from our group of 5. Hot crispy batter and good crunchy texture. The yang yum was disappointing. Not much stood out about it. Another decent Korean find in the south side. 3.5 stars.

I think I found one of my new favorite chicken restaurants! I refuse to eat fried chicken that isn't Korean. This is a place new to me and I'm surprised it took me so long to come here. It's located inside the K-Mall and beside a string of all Korean restaurants. The seating and vibe is very cool, and the menu is pretty easy to navigate. I ordered the 10 PC og chicken with no sauce, and my boyfriend got the grilled chicken with tteokbokki and added fondue. We also ordered some honey butter fries and sides of plain steamed rice. I asked for a side of the yangyum sauce so I could try it as well. Personally I didn't like the yangyum sauce and preferred the chicken I had plain because it was already so good by itself. The yangyum sauce is pretty similar to sweet chili sauce you can get from Asian markets. My boyfriend is a sucker for the cheese fondue anywhere we go and he loved it here. I'm a HUGE sucker for pickled radish. I almost scream when I get some with my chicken lol Everything we ordered was delicious and we were so full at the end of it we took home half of the food! Service was impeccable and super attentive which is an added super bonus to my boyfriend and I, as most Korean restaurants we've been to only service tables when you press the call button, sometimes aren't too friendly either.

Best K-style fried Chicken ever. I loved Country Coco's Spicy BBq chicken and original fried chicken. Staffs are very kind too. Good job team Country Coco.

Ralph’s Fried Chicken

There's a long list of reasons why Ralph's Fried Chicken is hands down the best fried chicken I've…read moreever had. First of all--the name. My dad's name is Ralph, so I already had a soft spot. But the moment you walk in and see the slogan, "Crispy on the outside, happiness on the inside!", you know you're in for something special. Clever--and absolutely true. The staff is exceptionally warm and hospitable, making you feel genuinely welcome, and the restaurant itself is spotless. Now for the food... every order is made fresh and brought to you by hand. The chicken is perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, with generously sized pieces that are cooked to perfection. And then there are the taters--next level. Skin-on, so you know they're fresh, perfectly seasoned, and somehow creamy and buttery inside, like mashed potatoes in disguise. The gravy is the ideal companion for both the chicken and the taters: rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. Last but definitely not least, the coleslaw is spot-on--creamy yet crunchy, with a great balance of flavor. If I could give Ralph's Fried Chicken six stars, I would. Don't walk--run to Ralph's Fried Chicken

Great service. Hot and fresh to order…read more Just opened and I have been seeing lots of instagram posts about this place so I made the drive out. They have been sold out before 4pm so this was happy to get an order on Thursday afternoon and they sold out after I ordered! I ordered a full spicy chicken and a half order of snow cheese chicken. Both came piping hot out of the deep fryer. It does take about 15-20 min to cook but the wait is worth the freshness! They are awesome and let you sit in your car parked and bring out your order when its done. But the smell was tantalizing. It looks like a local korean family owned truck and looks authentic and legit. And it is! I saw 3 customers all korean. So that is a very good sign. After 430 the line builds up quickly so try to get here early. The spicy chicken is crispy with a yummy kick. It isn't that typical spicy gooey goughang mess but it still has some spice to it. It's a dry spicy chicken with a light flaky coating which isn't at all heavy like other Korean fried chicken. Pleasures of eating fried chicken without the guilt!!! I liked the snow cheese as well. It was very flavourful. But those fries are really delicious. They coat them in the snow cheese and herbs and they are so delicious tasty and addictive. I'm not a big French fry person but these were light, crispy and soooo tasty. Glad to see a new joint open up with healthier fried chicken options in this city!

The taste and quality of the chicken tasted exactly like the first time I tried them; nice and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. This place has been my go to for Korean Fried Chicken since they opened in March on the Southside in the parking lot of the Wash Factory. They recently relocated to the Northside on 96th Street and 153rd Avenue in the parking lot of the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex and I couldn't be more excited; it literally is less than a 5 minute drive from my place! It's great that it's closer to me now, but I think it's dangerous as I may visit more often! Lol!

I got the classic Nashville sandwich with fries and a drink. The ultra flame is incredibly spicy ,( I asked if anyone has ordered it..she said not yet ). I like spicy but I also want to taste my food. The ladies there were outgoing and easy to talk to while i waited . Not long and i was out the door. Got home and opened the container . Good size portion fries. The chicken in my sandwich was a perfect size and tasted amazing . So what's a Nashville classic? What's on it. It's definitely a cozy spot better equipped to serve smaller groups than larger parties. The menu is pretty straightforward with just enough variety so that everyone would probably find something they'd be interested in. I ordered a Bulgogi (stir-fried marinated beef) that came with rice and some banchan, then I also got a separate appetizer of Mandu (fried chicken dumplings). All the food was as expected and I can't really complain about anything. The bulgogi was cooked to perfection, the mandu was crispy and soft as a fried dumpling should be. The portions are large and is just the right amount for a meal if you eat like me, or a meal and some leftovers if you eat less. I wasn't in a rush and enjoyed my meal, they checked how I was doing a few times but never felt pushy. Super friendly and very prompt service. I'd try some other things next time I went. Go with a small group of 4 and try a few different dishes that you can share is my advice.
