Teriyaki Chicken + Udon noodles
Hilary K.

Happened to stumble upon this amazing authentic Korean restaurant in Edmonton! Apparently there's lots of ramen spots everywhere around the city It's a thing here ahaha so the craving was there ! The resto is in the middle of a strip mall they were closing early so we had no choice to order take out as I had to try it out! It had over 1000 reviews on the big G ... had to give it a try and I wasn't staying very far. I had their cheese buldak wooow 5********/5 Best dish I had ! The cheese and chicken mixture with rice cakes was out of this world ! A must try when you come here! The grilled pork belly 5/5!!! You can taste the grill and the tender pieces of pork I love the marinade just delicious! Beef Short ribs: 2/5 a little chewy lacked some flavour but still ok.. will skip next time . Pork Bone soup: 5++++/5 amazingggg delicious and filled with so much flavour absolutely loved it. Teriyaki Chicken with Udon noodles 5+++/ 5 amazing flavour delicious!! Service : 5/5 the guy taking our order took all his time to explain the different menu items and all the popular ones.. we mostly followed his recommendations!very patient and caring while take our order. Top Notch service ! Ambiance: very busy lots of people so you know this is THE SPOT! Overall, don't pass up and definitely try this place out a definite must !! Can't wait to come back here if I ever come back to Edmonton. Overall

I booked in advance for a Christmas dinner and Karaoke for 11 of us. We had a table upstairs and it was nice as the other tables weren't close and it wasn't too noisy. They also had a small table at the end which was nice to place our gifts and purses. After ordering our food, it didn't take long to arrive at the table. The food was fresh and hot and the servers were great to bring us hot and cold water jugs and lemon. My Udon noodles were flavourful and had ample beef. There are 2 karaoke rooms beside each other upstairs. Before our scheduled time, we were able to move our items into the room. It could fit 10 and was a little cramped for us all. The ambience made me feel like we were in my parent's basement. There's one couch seating and then the chairs they use in the dining area. The room got quite warm so I would recommend singing with the lights off and opening the door when you're not singing. We spent 2.5 hours doing karaoke and in the last half an hour, there were no occupied tables upstairs. When it was time to pay the bill, they split the karaoke cost and we paid separately from the food. The cost of the room was $30/hour and reasonable split amongst us. We had a fun time and enjoyed our visit to Hanjan!

I've been here a handful of times, food is classic Korean and consistently delicious with great presentation. So much selection too! I also love the Banchans here. I took a friend here for their first time and she quite enjoyed the atmosphere... it's quite unassuming from the outside at a strip mall, but inside, it's like walking into an an evening street food gathering area. Sitting at a window booth during the day also makes beautiful instagram food photos! The service was friendly and quick, it was very helpful that our server explained everything to my first timer friend- how to get service (press button at table), what the banchans were, etc. There's still so many dishes I want to try, so I will be back!

Hanjan has beautiful decor including string lights and brick walls. It has a very spacious interior and private rooms as well. They even have a second floor as well. You can often find this restaurant packed on a busy night. Like most Korean restaurants, they have a buzzer you can push for when you need assistance. The staff is quite friendly though they may not come to your table immediately if its a busy night. Overall. I really enjoy all of their dishes. The spicy pork bone soup and bossam is among my favourite items. You can even get unlimted banchan, which are there Korean side dishes, my favourites are the marinated daikon and the Korean style potato salad. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I ordered takeout from here recently and was quite satisfied with the food. I was craving a Korean stew and the Budae Jjigae (Army Stew) definitely fulfilled that craving. I like how they separated the Ramen from the stew so it wouldn't get soggy. I love spicy stews and this one definitely did not lack flavour. I also ordered their popular Honey Butter Bread and was not disappointed. It came in it's own box and the cinnamon cream came in a separate container so the bread wouldn't get soggy. It tasted the same as if I had dinned in. If you haven't tried this dessert yet, then you're missing out. The crispy honey bread with cold cinnamon cream combination is sooo good. They recently launched their own in house delivery service. You can access it directly from their website and all the funds can go directly to them. Consider using this rather than ordering through skip the dishes or ubereats. I've been to this restaurant a couple of times pre-pandemic and it has a great atmosphere. It's popular among the younger crowd and the inside is quite aesthetic. Some of the food is more on the pricier side.

Hanjan is one of my first Korean food experiences. Their Honey Butter Bread (dessert), is incredible & a fan favourite for a reason. Their bulgogi fries a great sharing appetizer. We chose Korean Army Stew this time, & the Kinmchi pancake which were also good sharing items. Overall, our service was prompt, the restaurant was clean & good times were had!

What I love about this restaurant is the laidback vibe and atmosphere. They accommodated our large group of 15. The menu has so many great options and I look for add to trying more again soon. Meals came out quickly and service was attentive but gave space at the same time. Everyone enjoyed their meals and it seems like this place is steadily busy for a reason.

I was visiting Edmonton and looking for restaurants in the area and came across Hanjan. I had heard from friends this spot was good so I popped in for a late afternoon lunch. Service was really great here, the servers were super nice and kind, made some recommendations, and during my meal checked in to make sure I was enjoying everything. I ordered the Soon Tofu, and it was very flavourful. It was such a big portion I didn't think I could finish it! The side dishes were also great. Since I was solo, I couldn't try other dishes but friends recommended their fried chicken as well. I would totally recommend checking this spot if you are craving for Korean food in Edmonton!

Had ordered pickup from their website - no additional fees! I got my usual order - padak, fries and japchae. Consistent flavor and servings. I really love padak. So full of flavor, inside and out. The cook on the chicken is perfect - crispy skin and tendy, juicy meat which my mom really love because some fried chicken we had from other places are not thoroughly cooked. I ordered a new item today - bulgogi udon. It is ok, i prefer japchae. I noticed i got side dishes this time. Before, i only got the spring onion. No mashed potato, beansprout, kimchi and the other pickled veg. I hope this is consistent on all orders. I have been ordering the same thing so i dont know why i have not gotten the same thing before. Will be trying the soup next time.

We picked the soybean paste soup with tofu, beef brisket and veggies. I enjoyed the saltiness of the soup with rice as well. The dumplings were super crispy and were deep fried perfection. Ambiance was lively as the restaurant was busy. Restaurant was clean including the restrooms. There was plenty of free parking on the plaza. My only complaint is the price of the dumplings. I am too used to Lower Mainland prices that there was a sticker shock at $18.95. Maybe this is the normal in Edmonton?

We love kbbq but it's very expensive here in Edmonton, and there are only two in the city. It's located in an inconspicuous (weird if you ask me) spot, in a neighbourhood in front of a school. Parking wasn't that difficult to get. Upon arriving we waited 10 minutes for our reservation and we got seated. The vibe and atmosphere of this place is very family-run-authentic. The meats are served buffet style and you grab your own drinks from the soda fountain. Sides of lettuce, salad (my personal fave- amazing vinaigrette to cut the meat), kimchi, bean sprouts, etc. There were also a few variety of fried items. My favorite was the shrimp chips. They also have fried rice but no white rice. Which leads me to my next point-- Service: AMAZING!! One of the older ladies saw my boyfriend and I mixing our fried rice and kimchi to make kimchi fried rice. She asked if we wanted some sesame oil and seaweed to put into our fried rice to make it more bokkeum-bap!! She came back with a bottle of sesame oil and mixed it in for us. The only downsides: They put a piece of parchment paper over the grill which kind of absorbs all the juice. The selection of meat is very limited as well. For 2 people not including our alcohol, it came to about $75 for AYCE. Not too bad considering it's the only other kbbq place in town. Will definitely be regulars!

Pickled ?daikon was 10/10 so great for cutting through all the meat flavor. Bean sprouts were just okay. Friend liked the sauerkraut but I did not. Broccoli was very nice to grill. Marinated raw Onion was good (better slightly warmed on the grill). Marinated pork was my favorite. Pork belly was good. The super thinly sliced was one was my least favorite. Hard to cook and shrivels up too much. The super thick cuts I also did not like as I found it too chewy but honestly that could just be my cooking skills. We arrived right before other people filled up the place so it was a little busy. I'm surprised at how much space and seating they have. At first I just saw 4 person tables but they led us to the other area where they had large tables for bigger parties. We had 9 people in our party and they seated us immediately. My boyfriend and I split the Bulgogi Fries and the Padak (Soy Garlic) Korean Fried Chicken. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. After one bite of the Bulgogi Fries, it was an immediate 10/10. The fries were crispy and had the perfect golden crisp + soft inside ratio. And don't even get me started with the sauce on top. The white sauce was light, and had the perfect combination of slightly sweet and savory. It was a wonderful aioli. And the veggies added were so good. The tomatoes and scallions added a nice freshness and slight acidity to the overall dish. Lastly the bulgogi was just *chef's kiss*. I don't really know how else to explain it other than the Bulgogi Fries were a well-balanced dish. We were scooping every single missed vegetable in the sauce after we demolished the fries. The Padak (Soy Garlic) fried chicken was so tasty. Whenever I get wings, my go-to is pretty much anything soy garlic, or anything included garlic. The fried chicken skin was the best part. Great texture, crunchy, crispy, wonderful flavor. It was a great blend of savory, umami, and garlic. And the green onions on top was a great addition. Portion size for both things we ordered was perfect for the two of us. Also, don't even get me started on the banchans. Great kimchi, radish kimchi was so refreshing, and that mashed potato side? Terrific. We asked for more banchan when we were done. Lastly, we came back the very next day to try the desserts. At first, I wanted to pick one dessert to share between me and my boyfriend but it was so difficult to choose one. So we got both lol. We ordered the Injeolmie Waffle, Honey Butter Bread, and tried some of my cousin's Strawberry Bingsu. The Injeolmi Waffle itself was delicious, sweet but not too sweet. The ice cream added that sweetness and the almonds on top were nice. And the Honey Butter Bread? Wow. The milk bread and the fresh whipped cream were fluffy, light, and not too sweet. I would go back again in a heartbeat. If I was in the neighborhood, I would be a regular. And when I give a place 5 stars, 5 stars to me means: take my money and I might dangerously spend too much of my paycheck here. Which is what I did, but no regrets.
