Just your classic Korean fare, but what more can you ask for? I got the bibimbab and it was hot and yummy - the only note I'd make is there is not a lot of beef in there. The service is so friendly, though - they give you Yakult at the end of your meal as a "dessert" haha. So cute!

Pork Cutlet 16$

Came here on a weekend night, and was excited to see this place packed because people like this place! I was very happy with the flavour and the portions of the pork cutlet. A great dish recommendation thanks to Yelp! The cabbage tasted like crisp water chestnut-esque onion slices, but I didn't mind it. The showstopper was the sauce. It was delicious! It came with the side dishes: kimchi, daikon, and bean sprouts! The (barley?) tea was also very tasty. The service was extremely great. The waitress came up to check on my table despite there being a 'call' button for their service. She was also very accommodating to let me sit there to digest my food after I was done eating.

My go to place for korean stew and it was perfect in today's weather. Although it was a bit too spicy for me, I loved how soft the beef brisket was. Server was friendly as always and helped to refill our side dishes.

After my boyfriend and I bowled at Getaway Entertainment Centre, we decided to visit this place. We arrived around 1 PM and this place was full. As usual we ordered 1 stew and 1 appetizer to share. We don't eat too much rice so 1 bowl of rice enough for us. This time, we ordered spicy seafood, beef brisket and soft tofu soup (suk-uh sundubu) and haemul pajeon (seafood green onion pancake). Soups from this Korean joint are always good but I'm not a big fan of their toppoki (spicy rice cakes) as the sauce was too sweet to my liking so I usually go for the soups. Gopchang Sundubu - Spicy stew with intestines, soft tofu and veggies. Jangtuh Gukbap - Spicy beef bones stew Seolleong-Tang - Beef bones soup with beef brisket and noodles When you order soup or stew that is white which they usually are named tang or gukbap, make sure you request for condiments. The condiments will include chopped green chilies (no worry it's not spicy), gochujang (red chili paste), crushed black sesame seeds and salted shrimp. This salted shrimp is really good for the soup. If you go here during lunch or dinner hour make sure you make a reservation so you don't need to wait.

Another lovely lovely lovely Hanbang-bossam from Dookbaeki. Sometimes I fast and I'd like to end the fast with a tasty tasty dish and this is always at the top of my list. Slap together lettuce, raw jalepeños, garlic, and ssamjang and boom. Taste town. This is my favourite bossam in the city and I will be back.

Cold noodle soup

We came here for dinner and I think we just missed the rush which was good for us. The service is like any other korean place here. All of the cutlery is at your table and there is a button to call for service, very standard. I had the cold noodle soup which was very good and the taste was very close to the authentic version of this. The whole dish played well with each other. My girlfriend got the seafood stew. The stew contained tofu, onions, shrimp in a pleasingly hot and spicy broth. Going from my cold soup to the hot stew made me really regret my decision if I'm being honest. I will definitely be back for the hot stone soups. We also got korean fried chicken which had the standard taste profile of korean fried chicken if you've had it before, sweet and spicy. The banchan was also very standard. The atmosphere is alright, I get the vibe of a lodge on top of a mountain resort. It doesn't stack up to hanjan atmosphere though, I think I prefer the more open layout of that place. The servers are English friendly as they spoke both korean and English very well. A big plus is they played my whole k pop playlist I already listen to anyways, so it was nice having that play in the background. I will have to revisit this place and try the other dishes but I was pleased about this adventure.

Pork Bossam and Sogogi Soontubu

Definitely going to be a go to for me, especially during winter. First of all, the call button is such a handy feature that all restaurants should have. It makes it easier to call over a server and it also makes it easier for them to serve you. Despite having the call button our server still made sure to check in on us throughout the meal. Dookbaeki focusses a lot on their hot stone soup bowls, and I can see why. The soups are simmered for a very long time, and the result is a nice, smooth soup with a lot of flavour. Most soups come with a side of rice, and they also serve banchan, or side dishes. They do offer refills on banchan, which is typically kimchi, radish and bean sprout salad. If soups aren't your thing I can also recommend their braised pork. I was expecting the bossam to be a little plain and flavorless, but I was very wrong. You can definitely taste the herbs it's been braised with, and boy was it delicious. We left feeling very satisfied and definitely will be back again soon!

Pork cutlets

I had the pork cutlet which looked really good when served and was highly recommended. To my disappointment, the sauce was a little too sweet for me and the inside of the cutlet was super dry. I saw others ordering some sort of soup with rice on the side so I'll probably try that if I ever go again. Good ambience but After serving the lunch they never came back to check up on us for drinks or anything. Probably not a repeat visitor for this place.

One of the best korean food house in edmonton. They serve different kind of soup base meat (pork, beef, and seafood). And I like there seafood pancake. Good portion with the right price for it.

We picked the soybean paste soup with tofu, beef brisket and veggies. I enjoyed the saltiness of the soup with rice as well. The dumplings were super crispy and were deep fried perfection. Ambiance was lively as the restaurant was busy. Restaurant was clean including the restrooms. There was plenty of free parking on the plaza. My only complaint is the price of the dumplings. I am too used to Lower Mainland prices that there was a sticker shock at $18.95. Maybe this is the normal in Edmonton?

Moreover, when the staff urged us to eat more rice instead of meat, it just felt bad. Feeling judged while dining and leaving an AYCE on a half empty stomach is ...disappointing...I'd give them 4.5/10

We love kbbq but it's very expensive here in Edmonton, and there are only two in the city. It's located in an inconspicuous (weird if you ask me) spot, in a neighbourhood in front of a school. Parking wasn't that difficult to get. Upon arriving we waited 10 minutes for our reservation and we got seated. The vibe and atmosphere of this place is very family-run-authentic. The meats are served buffet style and you grab your own drinks from the soda fountain. Sides of lettuce, salad (my personal fave- amazing vinaigrette to cut the meat), kimchi, bean sprouts, etc. There were also a few variety of fried items. My favorite was the shrimp chips. They also have fried rice but no white rice. Which leads me to my next point-- Service: AMAZING!! One of the older ladies saw my boyfriend and I mixing our fried rice and kimchi to make kimchi fried rice. She asked if we wanted some sesame oil and seaweed to put into our fried rice to make it more bokkeum-bap!! She came back with a bottle of sesame oil and mixed it in for us. The only downsides: They put a piece of parchment paper over the grill which kind of absorbs all the juice. The selection of meat is very limited as well. For 2 people not including our alcohol, it came to about $75 for AYCE. Not too bad considering it's the only other kbbq place in town. Will definitely be regulars!

The space inside was nice and much bigger than it looked outside. There were a few diners when we got there, but still plenty of seating. We were seated, given the menus, and water (including a jug for the table, which I appreciated). The server told us that when we're ready to order to press the button on the side of the table. I love when restaurants do that. I ordered the Hanip to drink, which is a seasonal tea beverage, a non alcoholic type cocktail. I got the Japchae, which is a bowl of Japchae (glass noodles), beef bulgogi, spinach, carrots, onions with a shitake soy dressing. My friend got a coke and the Donkas, a breaded pork cutlet with a cabbage slaw. It also came with ketchup and bbq sauce on the side. Our food came out very fast; I don't think we waited more than 8 minutes, but our drinks hadn't arrived and the server said they'd be on the way. With our meals they brought out a small side of vegetables that included kimchi, bean spouts, radish (may have been daikon) with this delicious sauce, and mashed potatoes, plus a side of steamed rice. I'm not sure if the veggies and rice were for my meal or my friend's or for the table, but we both enjoyed it. I really liked the radish dish. Our meals were also delicious. My friend's pork cutlet was massive and she said it was really good. I loved the Japchae, it was savoury and comforting. I had been debating about ordering one of the full vegetable dishes like the eggplant or cucumber salad, but the serving sizes are decent and I wasn't hungry. The downside was they forgot about our drinks. I kept waiting and finally partway through our meal I pressed the button and asked about our drinks, and they had completely forgotten. The server (a different one from before) apologized. My friend's coke came out right after that and my drink took a few minutes to make. I do understand things get missed (I've worked in restaurants before), but it also wasn't very busy. So I can't give Hanjan 5-stars because of this but it was still a really meal. Both my friend and I said we'd go back again.

Pickled ?daikon was 10/10 so great for cutting through all the meat flavor. Bean sprouts were just okay. Friend liked the sauerkraut but I did not. Broccoli was very nice to grill. Marinated raw Onion was good (better slightly warmed on the grill). Marinated pork was my favorite. Pork belly was good. The super thinly sliced was one was my least favorite. Hard to cook and shrivels up too much. The super thick cuts I also did not like as I found it too chewy but honestly that could just be my cooking skills. Grill was swapped out 3 times during our 1.5hr experience. Ate 100% of everything But only 50% of the egg, and 10% of the bean sprouts (2 very hungry people). Overall what a fun experience. We arrived right before other people filled up the place so it was a little busy. I'm surprised at how much space and seating they have. At first I just saw 4 person tables but they led us to the other area where they had large tables for bigger parties. We had 9 people in our party and they seated us immediately. My boyfriend and I split the Bulgogi Fries and the Padak (Soy Garlic) Korean Fried Chicken. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. After one bite of the Bulgogi Fries, it was an immediate 10/10. The fries were crispy and had the perfect golden crisp + soft inside ratio. And don't even get me started with the sauce on top. The white sauce was light, and had the perfect combination of slightly sweet and savory. It was a wonderful aioli. And the veggies added were so good. The tomatoes and scallions added a nice freshness and slight acidity to the overall dish. Lastly the bulgogi was just *chef's kiss*. I don't really know how else to explain it other than the Bulgogi Fries were a well-balanced dish. We were scooping every single missed vegetable in the sauce after we demolished the fries. The Padak (Soy Garlic) fried chicken was so tasty. Whenever I get wings, my go-to is pretty much anything soy garlic, or anything included garlic. The fried chicken skin was the best part. Great texture, crunchy, crispy, wonderful flavor. It was a great blend of savory, umami, and garlic. And the green onions on top was a great addition. Portion size for both things we ordered was perfect for the two of us. Also, don't even get me started on the banchans. Great kimchi, radish kimchi was so refreshing, and that mashed potato side? Terrific. We asked for more banchan when we were done. Lastly, we came back the very next day to try the desserts. At first, I wanted to pick one dessert to share between me and my boyfriend but it was so difficult to choose one. So we got both lol. We ordered the Injeolmie Waffle, Honey Butter Bread, and tried some of my cousin's Strawberry Bingsu. The Injeolmi Waffle itself was delicious, sweet but not too sweet. The ice cream added that sweetness and the almonds on top were nice. And the Honey Butter Bread? Wow. The milk bread and the fresh whipped cream were fluffy, light, and not too sweet. I would go back again in a heartbeat. If I was in the neighborhood, I would be a regular. And when I give a place 5 stars, 5 stars to me means: take my money and I might dangerously spend too much of my paycheck here. Which is what I did, but no regrets.
