I've been to Nando's a handful of times in different places and I've always been satisfied with what I order. I got the 1/4 Chicken Leg basted in the Lemon & Herb Sauce and Peri Peri fries. We came in for lunch and it was a little busy but there were still plenty of tables to sit. The chicken was great. I loved the flavor, it had a nice subtle crisp and nice tang from the lemon. I enjoyed the savory and acidic/citrus combination. Wait time wasn't long, our chicken was hot when it arrived to our table. They had a bunch of sauces, the Peri Peri sauce with garlic and medium spice was the one we brought to our table. And I'd bring this over again, I really liked it. Service was helpful and they got to us right away when we arrived. All in all, I have no complaints. It was delicious. read more

Delicious egg tarts! Juicy flame grilled chicken with assorted tasty dips. Amazing sangria. Stellar service! I was very impressed with this place. Once I walked in it was a nice open space with a takeout area and dining area. One thing I was soooo impressed with was that the sangria was actually really really good! I'll have to order it every time. I was able to share quite a few dishes and my favourites were the garlic bread, the assorted dips for my chicken and those unbelievable tarts. The timing of dishes coming out was perfect. It was paced well with plenty of time to mingle before the feasting of chicken. The olives were surprisingly delicious. I also loved the cute chili oil the hummus was served with. All of the sides were very tasty and went perfectly with the chicken. A sharing platter easily feeds 4 people and with our appetizers and desserts our table of 5 left stuffed. The portions are deceivingly large!!! I was able to try all three desserts and everything was so delicious. But those tarts are so perfectly rich and delicious. When I got mine, they were piping hot and sooooo oozy. I loved it and wish I could of taken some home but they ran out. Too bad. Bc I was gonna buy a bunch for home. The service here was top notch. The waiters really went above and beyond to get everything quickly after we asked for anything. It wa so impressive. I normally don't leave reviews but this really left me mad. Why are you advertising a full chicken breast included in your spicy kale salad but only serving it with 1/2 a chicken breast. Completely misleading NO WHERE on the order do you indicate this is only 1/2 a breast, in fact, you advertise it as a "full boneless breast". I wouldn't even be upset if the photo advertised was 1/2 a breast. Super disappointed - $20 meal which was falsely advertised and misleading. Incredibly disappointed. I've had Nando's on several African countries, and since I had 3 hours to wait for my wife's surgery to end, I thought I would try the Canadian version of Nando's. First I would say that if you're hoping for a quick meal, this is not the place to go. I was here for lunch, it was not busy, and my 1/4 chicken with 2 sides took over 20 minutes to arrive at my table. The chicken and Cole slaw was good. I really enjoyed the fries. I chose medium on the spicy scale, and was glad I did. The sauces are good - I enjoy them, but they are unique, and I'm not sure everyone will enjoy them. We ordered the Halloumi sticks with chilli jam, which I didn't care for the texture of the cheese. I prefer a cheese pull, but I do understand with the type of cheese this was not going to happen. The chicken wrap with the sweet chilli jam and the tangy cilantro yogurt is one of my favourite things on the menu! Also ordered the half chicken with mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese, while the chicken was moist and flavourful, we found the Mac and cheese a bit bland. I've heard people rave about Nando's and wanted to try it for myself, so I finally stopped in here for lunch and found that it really did live up to the hype! The place was larger than I thought, and service was very friendly. The person who seated me did a great job explaining how ordering works (you order and pay at the cashier after you decide what you want, then they serve it to your table if you're eating in). In fact, my cashier did not even believe this was my first time there, since I "ordered like a pro!" I had a quarter chicken with the Piri Piri chippers. As I am not a spice person, I had the chicken plain, but it certainly was loaded with flavour. It tasted like really good barbecue, as though it had been marinated and grilled for a good length of time. The chips were warm and I dipped them into the seasoned mayonnaise served on the side, which was absolutely addictive. I tried one of the custom sauces, the garlic Piri Piri, but found it too spicy. My partner and I decided to visit Nando's for lunch on a Sunday afternoon before heading to the City Market in the brewery district to get some groceries. When you walk into Nando's you are seated and given menus. Then you go up to the front to order and pay. One thing that I don't like about this system, is that you are expected to tip before you have gotten your meal. The woman who took our order was friendly. She went above and beyond and gave us a pitcher for water so we didn't have to keep going up to refill our glasses (drinks, cutlery, napkins, and sauces are self serve). The restaurant itself is colourful, bright, and comfortable. The woman who brought our food just dumped it on the table (she didn't even put our plates in front of us) which was disappointing. We ordered the classic share platter, which consists of a whole chicken, garlic bread and your choice of side to share. We chose the hearty cole slaw. When the food arrived, the coleslaw had tons of creamy dressing (too much) and was very basic: just cabbage and shedded carrots. When it was described as hearty I would have expected some nuts and seeds or something in it. The chicken was tasty, moist, but a but oily for our liking. The garlic toast was yummy: buttery crispy goodness. The portions were large. This dish costs $31.49, which is reasonable for two. I've been here a few times usually for take out. But I took my sister here when she was visiting from Ontario and we sat in. Such a great place to go to if you're craving chicken...but more elevated. The decor is absolutely stunning. I like the bold colours and the booths are super cozy. I highly recommend the Peri Peri Drizzle if you like that nice kick to your food. It comes with the hummus, but I like ordering a bit extra for my chicken. The Portuguese Bread was okay. Very similar to just garlic bread. The chicken is always seasoned perfectly. My favourite salad is the Casa Salad. It looks like your regular garden salad but topped up with their signature dressing (looks like Caesar- but is actually a vinaigrette). And the best part is actually the unlimited sauces! There's a counter where you can just fill small containers, some with a garlic sauce and the rest range in different choice of heat i.e. mild, medium, hot. The service is good when you arrive to take your order. They are always friendly and will gladly explain the flavour options and how the sauces and sides work. This isn't my first experience at Nando's but it was a pleasant surprise to find one close to downtown region. There's lots of parking, even parking underground right in the lot which isn't something I see very often. The interior is pretty characteristic of the other two Nando's here in Edmonton, it has a very wood-centric feel to it. My friends and I of course ordered what they are most well-known for, the Peri-peri chicken. This time I got to try one of their new sides, the "chippers". They're essentially like the cactus cut potato chips you can find at BP's, but I think I like these ones better. Well-seasoned, crunchy - and they give you some peri sauce to dip it in. The chicken was pretty good which I think goes without saying. The only thing I don't like about Nando's is the cleanliness, and this goes for all 3 Nando's as well. I know they're sort of a fast-food joint, but it detracts from my general experience when I have to trek through sticky puddles likely originating from the 100+ flavor soda machine, or the washrooms that don't seem to be frequently cleaned, or when I'm observing the water spots on the glass and silverware. I'll still likely go back to Nando's the next time I crave grilled chicken though. read more

Hello new neighborhood! First day since move in day and we wanted walk around and enjoy some confort food, after almost two weeks of packing, moving boxes and moving more boxes we deserved something good! So we picked Nando's! This was exactly what we needed. Tasty food, great service, nice atmosphere and good background music! A full pack was perfect for us, it came with a whole chicken, 2 sides, wedges and casa salad, plus the garlic bread all that for $ 37.95 The servers were super friendly and helpful. The place was clean and the decoration was lovely. We walked here but plenty parking was available. SPICY AND EASY! (And less spicy if you prefer). Nando's is set up similar to Famoso style restaurant. You enter, are seated, look over the menu and when you are ready - go up to the till and order. They will ask for your table number so make sure to remember the number when you order. If it's your first time the server will let you know all these details and how it works. I've tried their smashed peas, garlic mash potatoes, fries, and medium spice chicken. Medium is actually a decent amount of spice so start there. Food is delicious. You can get the bottles of peri peri sauce to add extra sauce, so if you need more spice add the hot level sauce after! Food comes quick and is delicious. This newer Nando's location is clean, well-maintained and offers the standard food that other Nando's locations offer. I really enjoyed my visit here. Unfortunately my chicken was a bit overcooked during this visit when compared to other Nando's location visits in the past. That said, the rest of my meal was great and the staff were really kind and helpful. The washrooms were clean also. There is ample parking here and nearby transit is available. read more

The newest Nando's location in #YEG! Same great menu and service with a more convenient downtown location! It's a really cool room with abstract geometric design and custom lamps made in Africa. The booths aren't attached to walls, instead they have legs and are free standing. The high ceilings and open room concept gives it an airy feel. The food is exactly what you know and love about Nando's. The PERi PERi sauces, tender & flavourful Alberta chicken, and friendly service is all very familiar. Maybe that's because of the General Manager Tom who immigrated from the UK and has brought the amazing Nando's culture with him to the 50th St location and now to Brewery District! This is now the closest location for me to go to so I'm sure I'll be back here many more times. I'm looking forward to experiencing their take out service and I hope there's always warm Natas ready to eat! read more

This new location opened up a few months ago and we decided to try it for lunch. Located in the brewery district near Starbucks, the parking was difficult as there were no spots and cars around everywhere. I also find the parking stalls a bit tight. There are way less people during the evening in this shopping area. I assumed the restaurant would be busy for 1:00 based on the cars but it was less than half full. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who seated us. She gave us the menus and explained how to order. Once we were ready, we went to the till with our order and table number. The drinks are self-serve and a station is set up with cutlery, napkins and a hand wash sink. Our food arrived quickly, we enjoyed the whole wheat chicken wrap with medium spice which I found burned my tongue a tiny bit and I can eat spicy food. I really liked the dressing for the lettuce, cucumber and tomato and the chicken was so tender and flavourful. My side dish was the sweet potatoes which was a little different with pepper and nuts sprinkled on top of the slices. The other item we tried was the chicken Caesar pita with garlic mashed potatoes, the pita was nice and fresh and the potatoes were real, not smooth and instant looking. Our wrap and pita was $8.35 each and you have a choice to add one side or two. I do find the side dishes a bit small though. The atmosphere is nice and quiet at this location with the Afro-luso music playing, not hectic like the south side one. The tables are spaced apart with enough privacy and enough room for people to walk by. The restaurant, kitchen and washroom was clean so you know the staff takes care of this place. You know what in the opening scene in the lion king when the sun rises in all the animals rise up to view the sun. That is what it's like to be at Nandos when they bring the food out. Had a fantastic dinner tonight which isn't surprising seeing as the Peri Peri always delivers, and I don't just mean skip the dishes. Today I sat in for dining, The first course was pita and hummus with the Peri Peri chili oil topping. Nice rich garlicky hummus with that chili really hit the spot. Next they brought out the olives. They had whole garlic cloves mixed in with the olives so I took a bite out of one from a dare at the table and was pleasantly surprised that it was good. Really infused with all of the flavor and not too strong. Then came the garlic bread, dependable and buttery. At that point the main attraction came. The chicken served with a side of rice and mashed potato. I had the chicken breast which also came with an attached wing. I added the extra hot Peri Peri sauce to it for that extra punch of flavor. Made me feel like I was back on the streets of Pretoria. To finish off a fine evening we had a fresh Portuguese tart. If you've had Portuguese tarts in the past I definitely advise you to have one fresh off the pan. Flaky, and rich. i'll also give a shout out to the staff as they were all super friendly. All in all I would recommend Nandos for a nice casual dining experience with delicious food with that added kick to liven up your Tuesday night! read more

I come to Nando's so often that half the staff knows my name. I've never been kept waiting more than about 10 minutes for my food, and I'm never disappointed. I've converted almost all of my friends to Nando's lovers because of this location. My brother and I get take out from here frequently and I've never had an issue with anything. Their sides are delicious, I've had almost all of them. I started out at Lemon & Herb (mild spicy) and can now eat the hot without an issue. The staff is always friendly, happy, and polite. The music is never too loud or out of place (ie no backstreet boys or Metallica), it always makes you feel like dancing. Very spacious, very clean. The have a coke freestyle machine which is the best thing ever. I don't know what people are going on about when they say the chicken is "mediocre". The chicken and everything else is superb. read more

If you find yourself wandering the Brewery District and are looking to wait forever for mediocre chicken and cold fries, then look no further than Nando's chicken. The space is pretty wide open and as you walk in some young thing asks you if you are eating in or taking out. I was doing the latter and after a quick scan of the menu (which is riddled with stuff nobody is gonna order btw) I decide on a quarter chicken with a couple of sides. One of said sides was the veg which I asked for no onion, what do you think happened... Then you pay, and are promoted to tip before you actually get any food or receive really any service. The next part of my Nando's experience was by far the worst. The wait....my god the wait! I mean it was kinda busy maybe three quarters full and there are a couple people waiting on take out. But I mean honestly, this place is supposed to cater to take out...45 minutes roll by and no chicken. I can't stress this enough I'm just ordering chicken with fries and veg, nothing you don't get in 10 minutes anywhere else. Turns out after asking, my order has been sitting at the pass for 10-15 minutes. Sweet, nothing like some cold fries to enhance the experience. So I get my dinner home, already pretty disenfranchised by the whole thing and it's roasted chicken, with cold soggy fries, and veg littered with onion. Not exactly this chicken juggernaut I've been sold by random people who have heard of this place but never tried it. The chicken isn't bad at all, but nothing special. Certainly not worthy of the wait. I could been to SFC or Northern Chicken twice in the time it took me to get this 15 dollar nightmare. The staff are all about 12 with one manager looking gal who seemed fairly overwhelmed by a non packed restaurant. This place needs serious help, the only reason I'm graciously giving it 2 stars is because the chicken (star of the show apparently) is half decent. Do yourself a favour, if you are desperate enough to try and eat at this train wreck or a restaurant, call Skip the Dishes instead. Better yet, call a day ahead or so just to make sure you don't end up wasting your life waiting on run of the mill chicken like I did. Will never go back. I urge you to do the same. A friend and I were heading to a concert and decided to stop by for food so we could avoid spending our life-savings on a flat beer and stadium popcorn at Rogers Place. The hostess was very friendly, but the cashier was a little snippy when we were asking questions about the food we were going to order; if you're going to require customers to order from the cashiers instead of a waitress having a bit more familiarity with the menu would be nice. We also found out that there was only one working bathroom from the hostess, which was a bit worrisome since the restaurant was packed. We went to collect our cutlery and asked for more knives to be brought out as the basket was empty, but one of the staff informed us that she was just polishing them up; it was nice to know they were on top of things. The food came out and it was pretty good: the chicken was very flavourful but the veggies were pretty oily. The sweet potato was great though. A supervisor came to check on us which I thought was very sweet. I thought that I was happy with my Nandos experience until the last end of the concert when my digestive system began screaming at me. I spent the last few minutes of the concert trying to hold my breath to stop from vomiting. On my way home I stopped for some Pepto Bismol because I had a feeling I'd be needing it. I was right, and spent the next two hours in the bathroom. The food was tasty, the service was pretty good, but ultimately I came for chicken and left with food poisoning and gratefulness for Pepto Bismol, which ruined my concert experience and night. read more

I came on a weekday for lunch with my realtor to discuss business and found myself very happy with this place. This is my 2nd time at Nando's and my first time at this location. Amazing front end staff who were very friendly. I also liked that they are baby friendly and were equipped with high chairs and change tables in the washrooms. Parking was easy as well as they are located right in the Brewery District. Which means FREE parking in the customer lot. Their menu for lunch included different options like sandwiches, salads or if you wanted a whole chicken with various side selections to share. So i went in and ordered a whole chicken to go .Ordered it 'extra hot' for spice . Nice clean well lit place with lots of staff. I get it home and there's no heat at all. Dunno if they forgot to add it or whether that was s'posed to be extra hot. The chicken itself was very nicely grilled and juicy. No complaints there. I'm glad i brought a couple different sauces home in little containers. One was garlic peri peri and 'hot' peri peri. Neither of them were hot either. Didn't grab an 'extra hot' side so can't comment on it. The peri peri sauces are very tasty though. The fries looked good as i saw a few servers walking by while i was waiting . This is my favourite restaurant in the city. The staff are awesome. They know me there, since I am there a lot. I love their chicken, and I get the chicken with two side of rice and coleslaw. The rice has flavour aka Spice, so does the chicken, and the coleslaw too. I have had their fries and it's good too. If you don't like spice you can order your chicken plain and get coleslaw, my mother isnt a big fan of spices. read more

Their portugeuse garlic bread if my favourite and is a must every time I eat at Nando's. I also like that they have different spice levels because I don't eat spicy. We were eight and didn't have any issues finding a table. Parking is very easy as the location has plenty. Service is good.. You order at the front area and they deliver it to your table. There is take out option if you don't want to sit and wait. Beverages, once paid, are unlimited so if you are thirsty.. You will have lots of it. Same as frozen yogurt. The meal.. The pros... Chicken is super delicious.. It is cooked properly, the spices, and the sauce make it a wonderful meal. The sauce.. It is the queen of the meal, it comes from non spicy to very spicy. The side dish options are plentiful. Now the cons.. Portions are small and expensive. I had a quarter chicken with salad and I felt still hungry after finishing it. My coworkers made similar comments. Don't get me wrong.. The foods is super tasteful but I think they could offer a bit more or charge a bit less.
