my wife and I just stopped by for the first time. ordered 8 piece family chicken to go and we should have checked it before leaving because it was so dry almost like jerky chicken. they must keep it under lamps for hours to be like this. called to speak with manager and what felt like a 17 year old boy came to the phone and said. Sorry... I should have said I'm bringing back the chicken but my wife is nicer than I am. Worse chicken we have ever had that's for sure. By far the worst chicken express I've been to. When we arrived it wasn't busy so I don't understand what it took about 20 minutes to get our food. I'd understand if they had to fry the boneless hot wings I ordered, but they were barely warm. The cheese sticks i ordered were cold, the cheese inside was just like a solid piece. My son got the Mac and cheese and that was a soup like texture and that too was cold. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Heard great reviews so couldn't wait to try it well let's just say I wish I wouldn't have I went in for the Tuesday special of 2 chicken strips fries and a biscuit for 5.99. I got it at 7.29. Full price. Chicken was full of grease like they made it last night and re deep fried it. Wondering what to grab quickly? Well this place would be good for that, but don't expect too much out of the customer service. The last 2 or 3 times we have gone into this restaurant, it has been okay. The decor is great, best of the Amarillo area I say, it is clean and the food has been good. But the one thing that really docks their score is their friendliness. The last time we went I don't even think we talked to a human because she was so rude and bland; no greeting or anything. Tonight the lady was a little friendlier, but not much. And I feel that the wait for orders like chicken tenders could be sped up since all the chicken is right there in the warmer. Orders for the simplest things could take a while(I understand livers and gizzards do take longer to cook!) My husband and I went to Chicken Express in Canyon this afternoon; left totally amazed at the lack of customer service. We ordered 6 livers with okra and a roll, 4 strips with mashed potatoes and roll and two teas. The lady we ordered from was visibly upset and was very short with us as we ordered. Sat down at a table waiting on the food drinking our tea, after several minutes a young man came out with food saying 262. We looked at our ticket and got up to go get the food but the young man had given it to another couple! We asked if that was our order, he said yes then turned away!!! The man and woman just sat there eating our food totally unconcerned that that wasn't their food! We asked for our money back and after a few minutes of haggling they gave us back our money we left. Not one person said I'm sorry, we will make this up to you, nothing!!!! Their customer service is horrible. We will never be back to that place! I just reminded myself why I really dislike the service here. I came in for a gallon of unsweetend Tea, easy enough, its WT's Homecoming Today and I know they are busy, that's on me! but when I place the order for a gallon of Tea and added a 20oz slushie. That was my mistake, the young girl took my order and then made me wait 15 Mins as she took 12 or 13 other peoples orders while I stood there waiting on a slushie, when she finished with the line, then went looking for my order that no one had filled. finally she hands me the slushie 15 mins later, and didn't even offer me a straw. very disappointed, and now I know why I never come here, too many students working here, and no one takes responsibility for thier work. Normally a great experience with the staff and food service, but recently the past few times have been really disappointing. Pulled up, ordered our food, paid, then had to wait over 30 minutes just for them to make some more "fresh mash potatoes". The line was wrapped around the drive thru all the way into the street . When we looked through the window there was hardly anyone doing anything. One employee was just sitting in the corner playing on his phone, the lady that waited on us just put her back against the window and acted like nothing was wrong. read more

I heard a lot of hype about this place on campus saying it's the best chicken place so I thought I would give it a go I first noticed when walking in almost every table was dirty...I ordered chicken strip combo meal with mashed potatoes as my side they brought the food out to me it took maybe ten mins...not too bad the food was hot too a plus. I even had an extra chicken another plus I was surprised that country gravy was used I was expecting brown gravy not too much of a problem..the chicken was meh nothing special and really chewy the biscuit was under cooked it seemed really doughy in the center all in all you get what you pay for. Chicken strips here are always delicious! I eat here about twice a month and the chicken is consistently good.

This is my favorite Chicken Express out of all in the Amarillo area because it is clean, has great decor, & everyone is friendly! We love their family size chicken tenders with fried okra & mashed potatoes. The gravy is delicious & the biscuits are to die for! I also love their catfish, coleslaw, & hush puppies! Pretty good food. The chicken is...OKAY. The rolls though, AMAZING. The gravy, really good. The dips are really good and their sweet tea is out of this world. Prices decent and customer service pretty normal for this kind of place. I would give it a try if you were on the fence about it, it's not disappointing, it's just not something to write home about. read more
