My friend and I visited Chicken Coop on a Sunday drive returning from Ruckersville, VA to our home in Winston-Salem, NC. It was an easy quick detour off of 29. The parking lot was really busy when we arrived. We parked closer to the car wash on the far right side of the lot and approached the exterior order window. I ordered a hot dog and a two piece chicken meal with two sides. I got two thighs with fried apples and mac and cheese. My friend ordered a hot dog with waffle fries and a side of green beans. But she had to purchase her drink seperately inside (?). We took a seat inside at the large high table and got our beverage from the mini Coke freestyle machine inside the convenience store. Our food was ready quickly. Everything was really good. The hot dogs were darn near great. Only things that would have made them perfect would have been a slightly thicker dog and a toasted bun. Chili and cole slaw were great. They use Moore's Original Hot Dogs from nearby Lynchburg, which I like a lot. Macaroni and cheese was super cheesy and well-seasoned. Fried apples were really good too and a GENEROUS serving. Chicken had a nice crispy skin that had great flavor. The roll was good with a nice spread of butter on it. All in all, a really fun stop. My friend picked up a chocolate mousse cake for the road which she was pleased with. Take a break from your drive on 29 and grab a bite at Chicken Coop.

The burger was better than the chicken but for where it is and what you are getting, it's pretty good. Potato wedges were quite good.

Good chicken. Good potato wedges. Really good mac and cheese. Perfectly good spot to grab a large portion of good food at a good price.

Great hamburger! Recent remodel. The chicken is excellent and the meals a good value. Sure beats McDonald's

Where can I find fresh eggs?

I’m sorry, we are a restaurant that serves delicious fried chicken, besides numerous other items.

One of my favorite places to visit! Such a beautiful setting to enjoy a cup or cone - and a great spot for berry picking too! I had just driven by the farm with their giant "pick your own strawberries" sign, and decided to do this in between wine/beer tastings along Nelson 151. *Pick your own strawberries for $3.49 a pound. Apparently you can bring your own container for picking, but they do provide white buckets. *I picked strawberries from Patch #1 which faces the road, but there's more patches in the back, which I wish I'd checked out, because I suspect a lot of people go to Patch #1. So I'd encourage you to be aware of Patches #2-6. *There are portapotties and an outdoor sink set up with soap and paper towels. *They have a small market with some McCutcheon products, strawberries for sale, asparagus, and ice cream in pints. I had a cup of their delicious strawberry ice cream afterward. There are picnic tables scattered under tents where you can enjoy your ice cream (much appreciated shade after strawberry picking under the hot sun).

I know there isn't many ice cream places around, but even if there was Willy's would top the list…read more Willy's ice cream is the best. I'm a fan of soft serve ice cream, and the combination of desserts that Willy's offers are amazing. I've tried many different items from Willy's and I have never been disappointed. I am a milkshake fan so that's usually my go-to at any ice cream place. Willy's has a great milkshake. Blended perfectly. Simple and filling, but not overloaded. The prices aren't bad either. Also, if you're a fan of chocolate and peanut butter then try their "peanut butter lovers parfait" with chocolate ice cream. That's usually the item I go for if I don't get a milkshake. They also have a flavor of the week, which they change every Monday. Not in this order, but the flavors are: Strawberry, blueberry, black raspberry, black cherry, lemon, orange, coffee, banana(which is new), and maple(there beginning and ending flavor). They're all great! It's fun to blend some of them with other flavors as well. It's great place to sit around at any time of the day and enjoy a nice cold treat. They do get busy, and they don't have a drive-thru so be prepared to stand for a little bit if they are busy. The staff is really friendly and do their best to get things out efficiently, though. It's unfortunate that their only open for 7 months out the year. I would grab some Willy's ice cream throughout the whole year. Something to look forward to after they close up. I would absolutely recommend Willy's Ice Cream.

Note: While we waited we were able to review their menu option of items which were listed on the board beside the window where orders are placed. Overall I'd recommend this local staple.

Obviously that's no one's fault however, do be sure to show up early if you want many options of ice cream. My second grievance was the speed of service I received. I ordered a root beer float, size regular. I assumed it wouldn't take too long but it was a little busy. Boy, was I wrong. I waited thirty minutes for a worker to scoop four scoops of ice cream into a cup and hand me a root beer on the side. 30 MINUTES. Many people who ordered after me got their food which takes much longer than scooping four scoops of ice cream. Even after asking how long it was going to take to get my food I still had to wait for another ten minutes to finally receive it. The root beer float was good however not worth waiting that long. I'm very disappointed.
