Four piece with three sauces and Cole slaw
    Devon J.

Update: visited a second time and the atmosphere is exactly the same. The ambience is "we shoved a food truck into a building"...they even still have you ordering on an IPad and no one greets you and there's no condiments or napkins anywhere. After paying $60 for some chicken strips and fries we were handed our food in to go containers and I actually found myself asking the girl "is it okay if we eat in here?" Because it is NOT a welcoming environment. I feel bad for the man who has put his heart and soul in these recipes because the restaurant experience itself highly takes away from them. I would have preferred to be eating out of a food truck honestly. For $10 I can go to Oliver's in Pleasant Grove and get beef tallow fried chicken and fries plus a decent sized drink. At Chicken Boy three chicken tenders by themselves cost $13 then it's extra for fries and a small drink. It's crazy pricey. Initial review: This place has the potential to be very good, it just feels like it was opened by people who don't have a lot of restaurant experience. Not a bad thing! Just temper your expectations when you first go in. The owner says they are still moving in decor and such so I'm sure the place will have a more welcoming vibe soon. As of right now it's a little odd inside. It doesn't feel inviting or like a place that wants you to stay and eat. There are no condiments on the tables or napkins and there's only one trash can that I could see. They even gave us the food in a to-go container with no other option. You place your order on a screen even though there is a young man just standing at the front counter when you get there. For a place with only one thing on the menu (that you can order in a couple different ways) you'd think a human could be trusted to take the order. It was off putting. Then you have to trek all the way to the back of the restaurant where the very nice owner will pour your drink from the fountain and give it to you. But then you have to go all the way back to the front to wait for your food. Like I said: clunky. Now the food: the owner says it's his recipe and I commend him because it is well done. It could use a little seasoning in the batter but it's very crispy and the pieces of chicken are large and juicy. It works as a perfect vessel for sauce. The sauces we ordered were fairly standard. Honey mustard was heavy on the mayo, bbq sauce was typical, but the spicy maple sauce had my husband wanting to go back for more. He loved that. The cole slaw was...eh...not good. The meal cost us $17.00 but it was enough chicken for the two of us to enjoy. All in all, I am happy to see a gluten free chicken place and I hope it does well! I will say that my husband and I will only come back again when I am in the mood to make GF waffles at home because this chicken would be AMAZING as chicken and waffles. But that may be the southerners in us. It would also be great served with a side of GF macaroni and cheese or potato salad. Maybe if the owner reads this he can take it into consideration for future menu iterations.

    Chicken Tenders.

Wow! Best Chicken Tenders I've ever had! Also their fried chicken taco is amazing. PSST Everything happens to also be GF and DF, but you'd never know it. So delicious! I met the owners and they were super friendly, or maybe tasty fried chicken just brings people together!

Listen. This is the best fried chicken out there. And it just so happens to be gluten free. They cook everything in beef tallow too so you don't leave feeling yucky from seed oils. I've seen people (myself included) wait hours for their chicken when they only had a food truck. Now they have a location. GO. You won't be disappointed.

The ranch does not taste like ranch, but the coleslaw does taste like coleslaw so that's an observation I had.

So, gone is the endless strips for lunch thing they used to have, I suppose because the other…read morerestaurant types they want to be like, which are mentioned in some of the other reviews from folks here, don't do that, so why should they? Or maybe it's a cost-cutting thing because ever since the pandy, companies love shrinkflation and gouging. Whatever the reason, one of the more enticing things about them is gone...maybe just at this location because it's in a mall, and a dead mall at that, haven't really checked the rest. The normal overly sweet Wingers sauce is still there, but, happily, they are also playing with superhots and have a ghost pepper BBQ sauce that is quite lovely, if I do say so myself, and I do. I asked for the hottest Buffalo sauce they had and what they brought me had no real heat to speak of at all, so I might have gotten the wrong thing. Anyway, I do applaud them trying to play around with sauces (maybe they're trying to be like BWW, sans an eating challenge or like BWW if it was an actual casual restaurant instead of a shitty sports bar wannabe chain) and service was quite good. I might drift from chicken if I come to another of these and try a burger, as I think that sauce would pair quite nicely with one and I've never had a burger here. They do have Diet Mt. Dew and I do dig the popcorn thing, so a lot of good points in their favor, but overall, the strips were fine, if a bit on the mediocre side, as usual, with the saving grace of them formerly being endless now gone. So, I guess call this 3.5, but with not quite enough to get the push.

Wingstop is one of those places that tries to sell you on the idea of being some kind of wing…read morehaven, but it's just a greasy, overpriced mess. Let's start with the wings: they're often dried out, overcooked, and lacking any real flavor depth. The sauces? Don't get me started. Half of them are either too salty or taste like something you'd dip your fries in at a discount food court. I'm supposed to believe these are gourmet wings when they barely pass as edible? It's like they've figured out how to sell you something that looks good in commercials but fails miserably once you actually bite into it. And don't even talk to me about the prices. Paying nearly $15 for a small order of wings that are often bland or burnt is a joke. You could get better wings at a dive bar for half the price and have a better overall experience. But at Wingstop, you're not just paying for lackluster food, you're paying for the privilege of waiting forever to get it. The service is always a mess--orders get mixed up, the staff is usually clueless, and you'll find yourself sitting there watching the clock tick away as you wonder if you accidentally walked into some sort of cruel experiment on customer frustration. Honestly, Wingstop is a prime example of a brand that got lucky on hype and never bothered to back it up with quality. It's the kind of place that leaves you wondering if you've been scammed. No amount of flashy marketing or a 20-page sauce list can cover up the fact that, in the end, Wingstop is a glorified fast food joint serving up mediocre wings with zero personality. You can do better.

The two works at the cash register seemed to care more about talking to each other than the customers. Especially because we shared it was our first visit and asked for recommendations. They were vague and not super helpful but that's okay. The unlimited salad bar was a little underwhelming. Some of the toppings seemed not very fresh and like they had been sitting out for a few hours. I also wish they had spinach as a lettuce option. I also wish they had hard boiled eggs, ham/chicken, bacon, etc. it would be more worth the price. I don't I would get this again unless they added some better items. The small plate is not worth $10. The garlic knots were nice and cheesy. They were very fresh and a nice starter. We both wished they had more seasoning/garlic. It tasted more like just the butter and cheese. If I order garlic knots, I want and expect, a lot of garlic. The chicken bacon pizza we ordered was nice and fresh. It didn't have a lot of cheese though and the ranch (which was the sauce) needed some more flavor. It had decent flavor overall, but with more cheese and seasonings, it would be better. The crust/pizza bread itself was delicious! I would definitely come back and the pepperoni pizza to give them a second chance!

It felt almost as if it was a completely different company. The Orem location feels more like a diner than a restaurant experience. If you are looking for a restaurant vibe this Orem location is not it. Server seemed quite annoyed he had to do basic things for us. Never asked to refill drinks. Buffalo cauliflower was more scraps and barely covered in the buffalo sauce/ crispy fried batter. Mostly white with hints of orange. Spicy Mac and cheese was absolutely inedible with how much spicier it was compared to other locations. We took it home to give to my son and husband who order it often. They also could not eat it. Other items we ordered were also just off. Felt sloppy. I took someone here to lunch because I know other locations are great. Very disappointed. I wish I chose a different restaurant. Will not be back to this location ever.
