First time i tried it was in Florida a few years ago and got the best service i have ever gotten at any fast food restaurant in my life. I mean the staff went and personally got me refills and gave me samples of the food. Anyways, im glad its in Toronto. I went on a Saturday afternoon. The line was just about at the door... but it moves very fast. made the order within 20 minutes. I was served by the manager or supervisor who was nice and offered me 4 different types of sauces. He did try to upsell me their milkshake which i declined. Anyways, the food was good. Chicken was a tad salty. Putting aside the controversy of Chick-fil-A, let's discuss the experience as it relates to just the food and service. The lines have been snaking out and around the corner ever since they opened their doors. You need to have patience when wanting to take a bite into any one of their chicken sandwiches. I went on a Saturday around 12:30pm and got lucky with the crowd. It wasn't burst out the door and it was a reasonable 10-15 minute wait until you got the the front counter to place an order. The restaurant ambience and decor is upscale fast casual with a mixture of tables and high-top booth chairs for customers to sit and tear into their loot bag of Chick-fil-A. If you don't know already, Chick-fil-A has a very short and compact menu offering, chicken sandwiches. This focus on making the best chicken sandwich is what arguably earned them this hype. You can order regular (includes pickles) and deluxe (cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles) variations of their chicken sandwich. They also offer a spicy version too that really builds as you take bite after bite. We wouldn't go and not upgrade to the meal combo that includes their thick cut waffle fries and choice of drink. Pro tip is you can get the sweetened iced tea and they can adjust the amount of sugar syrup pumps. They have 8 sauces for you to choose from that includes their own Chick-fil-A smokey tangy offering. They will give you two and I learned that you will want to use one of them on your sandwich to add another level of flavour. The sandwich itself is fried to a deep brown colour and the chicken inside is very moist. Like I said, this is what they focus on getting right. The portion is also pretty generous and is not a processed uniform patty. Rather, it is an actual piece of white meat chicken breast sandwiched between the two buns. You will probably be shocked that the sandwich has disappeared from your hand rather quickly as you take more and more bites til it is gone. Only disappointment was that the waffle fries were limp and not even warm. Probably due to the absolute pace that the staff are pushing out food that they just make tons and tons to meet the demand. I really really like their waffle fries and I like their chicken sandwich. I think they've been really consist with it and typically go with the chik fil-a sauce or buffalo for a little spice but really not spicy at all. I don't think it's the crispy-ist fried chicken, more of a baked texture but I'm not mad at that. I think it works. Very juicy chicken breast and high quality too. The two or three little pickles add a good hit of acid and the bun is always warm soft. It's a really simple sandwich but in the best way possible. I'm not sure if this is the standard for all chick-fil-a's but the stardard here is pretty high. The service is also super efficient and always freindly. Although there is usually a line when I go. Came here on Saturday and waited in line at 3pm. The line didn't go around the building but did stretch to the intersection/corner. The line went by pretty quickly and they had people inside taking your orders in advance through iPad so that all you needed to do was pay at the cash and pick up your order. Seating was limited, so you may need to find a high table and a spot to stand (if you're lucky to find that), or wait about 10 minutes to get seating. The food was much better than I had anticipated, with a large piece of chicken that was still fairly juicy! The regular chicken burger has two slices of pickles and with every order, you get 3 sauces of your choice to either use for your fries or you can put inside the bun (I highly recommend the Chick-fil-a sauce, it's almost like a honey mustard, but not as mustard-y). As for the drink, I got the lemonade (not too sweet), and the lemonade/sweet tea blend (which tastes like a HK style iced lemon tea). Would I recommend or visit again? Yes! I was so excited when I heard there was a chick fil à opening at downtown Toronto as I've always heard great things about them from friends who's tried in the states. When I finally got to visit the store myself, obviously there was a huge line (and this was already a month into their opening). However the line moved very fast, I swear there's like over 50 employees working. I got the spicy deluxe with waffle fries and let's just say it's by far the best chicken sandwich I've had. Walked by at 8pm without a single soul lining up outside so I decided to walk in. Lucky for me because 5 minutes later, about 20 people were queueing up outside. They had staff pre-taking your orders while in line to speed up the process at the cashier. I ordered the Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, and 6 Chick-fil-A nuggets which came to about $19. For sauces, I opted to try the Chick-fil-A sauce (140 calories per container) and the Sweet and Spicy Sriracha sauce (45 calories per container). I can't pin point what the Chick-fil-A sauce tasted like but I can see why this is the Big Mac sauce of their sauses. Pretty tasty and extremely high in calories. The Sweet and Spicy Sriracha sauce was nothing special. Tasted like a slightly spicier version of Sweet Chilli Thai sauce. Both chicken sandwiches had a pretty decent sized chicken breast patty and the spicy one had a nice little kick to it as well. The nuggets were nothing special to be honest. Service was very good. Between the lining up, pre-ordering, paying and receiving order it took about 15 minutes. Found a spot at one of the tables to eat and someone came by to clear the mess that someone left behind. You know the food is good when people are willing to line up in negative degree weather. I gave into the hype and upon arrive was delighted to see there wasn't anyone waiting outside. The queue inside moved rather quickly and I was able to order and receive my meal in under 5 minutes. Seating is limited, there were a lot of folks holding seats while their friends stood in line. We were able to snag 3 seats near the door, it was a tight fit but we made it work. The Chick-fil-A Deluxe Sandwich was good but there was something missing; It was not what I was expecting taste-wise. My friends opted for the spicy version and found it more flavourful. One thing we all pointed out while discussing the food was that the sandwiches and waffle fries could have been crispier. Look, I'm a tiny-a$$ little person. So I don't need to eat a lot to feel full. So I honestly don't understand the universally positive reviews raving about this place, as the portions were tiny as all hell. Was I supposed to order multiple burgers and assemble them to make a normal-sized burger? Like a chicken Voltron? Was I supposed to wait in a lineup outside the restaurant for two hours until I was starving and delirious to the point where ANYTHING eaten afterwards would've sufficed? Is that the trick? I mistakenly ordered the regular Chick-fil-A Sandwich and waffle fries. The sandwich looked and tasted like a tiny, sad McChicken, but without the mayo or lettuce (which apparently costs extra and is another burger entirely?) The waffle fries were edible and artfully fanned-out in the little box, but said arrangement only allowed for half a dozen fries in the container. On the upside, they offered free sauce packets, and I tried the exotic-sounding "Polynesian Sauce" which tasted like the sweet and sour sauce you get with chicken balls (which I guess apparently originated from Polynesia?) The only reason this restaurant is getting a 2 star is because the food was great! I will start off with the positive. The line up to get in was long but rolled pretty smooth and we were able to get our orders in in under 20 minutes. Up to that point the staff was great and kept the crowd moving. Food was great! Grilled chicken is a great healthy alternative if you are watching what you eat . Where it went down hill is waiting for my food. My friend and I ordered at the exact same time... she got her meal in less than 5 minutes. Mine took almost 25 minutes & I stood at that counter for the whole time! I was worried. I was worried that, like other American chains, the Canadian version may not get it just right. Luckily, my fears have fallen by the wayside. CFA in Toronto is just as good as it is in the US. The things to get will always be the chicken sandwich and the nuggets, with a wide array of sauces (which, if you're like me, you'll also use for waffle fry dipping. If you're willing to go early in the morning, or around non-busy times, the waits are minimal (I was in line for only 5 minutes when I went on a Saturday morning), and well worth it. I went here today and ordered the chick-fil-a deluxe sandwich. I was excited to try this place because of all the hype and was disappointed when it didn't live up to the hype. The sandwich itself was ok (not the best but not the worst either) but my bun was cold. It would've been better lightly toasted so that it's warm. The chicken is real chicken breast which is nice but was lacking in flavour. I added chick-fil-a sauce and zesty buffalo sauce which gave it more flavour. Not in any rush to go back. Chick-fil-A is located at the north east corner of Yonge and Hayden. The newly constructed One Bloor East is located at the south east corner of Bloor and Yonge. This restaurant is at the south west corner of this building. Since this restaurant is at the corner of the building at least for now it allows the patrons that are lining up to get into this establishment a place to stand as the line for this place when I went did in fact go around the corner but not past the footprint of the restaurant itself. If I had to estimate the point at where we were standing to the front door to the order line to the cashier to the pickup counter that queue is about 100 to 150 people long. Our wait from the back to when we received our order I'd say took under 20 minutes. I've waited at the McDonald's at Weston just south of the 401 where there was nobody in line longer than this wait. As far as the wait goes for lines, I've never seen a more efficient people moving, people serving system for a newly opened place here, ever. If long lines are a deterrent for you, fear not as the line may be long but the wait is not. This model for order taking is a whole new take than what I've seen in all the other Chick-fil-A's I've ever been to. I've been to Chick-fil-A in Atlanta, Jacksonville, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Chicago, North Carolina and other places I've guessing I've just forgotten about. Basically I've had my experiences with this restaurant and I have to say that not a single experience has ever been bad, not one. What makes this experience so good at each and every Chick-fil-A including this new Toronto location? The service and efficiency can't be beat oh and that they have hands down the best fast food chicken sandwich from a chain, period. I've seen Chick-fil-A's with what is considered normal traffic and for now, this Toronto store which is the first true brick and mortar in the country is currently in well oiled machine mode. The quantity of customers they are able to service is rather staggering considering how many people are waiting to get to order from this place. Currently the ordering is as such: there's a line system in place in which you'll follow the path leading to the cash counter. On the way to the cash counter there's an "island" of order takers with tablets taking orders of customers in line asking for their first name and last name initial. Getting to the counter you give your name and they have and confirm your order where you'll pay. The order counter is where you will ask for your sauce and pick up your drinks if you have ordered any. The pick up counter is to the right where they'll call out names and you'll hand your receipt over so they can confirm your order is in fact yours before they hand it over. This is a drastic change compared to my previous experiences where at the counter they ask you what sauces you'd like and then put it into a numbered pylon-cone type stand. You go to your seating and they'd take your order to you. For now this isn't done in Toronto just yet and who knows they may not adopt this method if things never slow down. The seating is limited inside in a sense that the place is completely packed so getting a seat at least for now is rather difficult. The best bet for now is to probably take it to go if you don't want to wait around for seating. The food. The sauces are listed on the wall in case you don't know but each of the 7 also have a different calorie total as well. Currently the original Chick-fil-A and the Garden Herb Ranch are the highest at 140 a pack which is kind of a lot considering how small these things are while all the others are lower or much lower. Those 2 with the highest are basically the creamy ones. As far as the menu goes it's pretty simple. Chicken sandwiches which are either the breaded fried type, grilled non-breaded type, nuggets, etc. Some sandwiches are spicy while others are not and some with veggies and cheese (deluxe) or not, with pickles. It's not a diverse menu but it never has been and it doesn't need to be. They aren't going off board here with their offerings and have a simple model which is quality food, quality service, and all around goal of a quality experience. The chicken sandwiches are thick, real white meat chicken breast on a bun. It doesn't get more basic than that really and it's something that they've essentially perfected as they don't also serve beef burgers or tacos or whatever else. They also have breakfast but I've never had it. As for condiments they have packets of mayo, hot sauce, mustard and napkins on a counter near the exit, next to the garbage bin. At the end of the day this place is not making a political statement. Their origins or history with their political alignments may not match the entire public out there but they're not looking to do that at the restaurant. Came for a long wait in line to have the new experience with everyone else. While I wish that the company brass were more liberal in their politics, everything else was a pleasant surprise. What, you ask? 1. Exceptional service. The brutally long line moved surprisingly fast. Everyone on staff was efficient and friendly in a way that is foreign to Canadian fast food culture. A free tea refill while a million people are in the place? No problem. A smile? a thank you? Yes. Yes. It seems like they appreciate their customers in a way that places like Tim Horton's and Wendy's do not understand. 2. Hot, tasty food. Less heavily fried than Popeyes on the unhealthy side, yet tastier than other contenders on the grilled/fresh side. The waffle fries and sandwich are better than comparably priced fast food meals. I think Chick Fil A will be a dominant player in Toronto within 2-3 years if they choose to expand. Been wanting to try chick fila for awhile now. Finally made the trip on a weekday, it wasn't too busy when we arrived. We waited in line for about 10 minutes before they were able to take our order. We ordered the chicken nugget, and their deluxe spicy chicken burger combo. They don't have the most efficient ordering system, as they take your name down during the order and call your name after the order is ready. Unfortunately, many people share the same first names. As a result, someone else took our order and we had to wait another 15 minutes to get our order. The chicken nuggets were okay, they tasted like something you can whip up at home. The deluxe chicken spicy burger was juicy and flavourful. Unfortunately, the waffle fries that came as part of the combo did not live up to the burger, it was soggy and flavourless. When I told an employee I was missing the fries, they told me there was nothing they could do because the girl who put my order together said that she didn't miss any items... Line was long but went by quick. But I also went at 11am before the lunch rush. They take ur order while in line. I got the spicy chicken and it was an impressive spice. Everything is made in house. Guys, you know which place is irredeemably mediocre? Here's a hint: it's closed on Sunday. To be fair, they do fast food fast. Like, impressively fast. I guess they know generally what people are lining up for. I was handed a foil bag basically seconds after ordering. The person behind the counter was very friendly, which I appreciated, so great staff and service. The chicken sandwich tastes like the (very, very few) chicken sandwiches I've had at other fast food places - bland, lifeless, cheap. Maybe it's a bit juicier than the competition. Maybe. Price wise, it's sort of reasonable. I wouldn't call it a deal given what you get, but it's not expensive. It hit me with a mild stomach ache afterwards, so there's that too. Eat Mor Chikin! It's so good. I always get the deluxe with Chick-Fil-A sauce and waffle fries. No drink. So I save about 70 cents if I'm not mistaken. Bag is too weak (or food is too heavy). Tore in half about two blocks down the street and almost dumped my food on the sidewalk, if not for my superhuman non organic chicken growth hormone fed reflexes. Fries need a bit more salt IMHO that's why it's not 5 stars. For months the line up was ridiculously long. Now it's quite reasonable I guess the shine has worn off. read more

Waited a month for the line to die down to try it. I ordered the original chicken burger, lemonade and waffle fries. It was well worth the wait. The chick fil a sauce was perfect on the burger and fries, tastes like all dressed chip flavour but in a mayo consistency. I will def be coming back to try other items on menu. Once again, Canada gets the watered-down experience when a successful American franchise moves north of the border... not to say that this Chick-fil-a location is bad though. That being said, I think a "good vs bad" list works best for this review. The GOOD: - Huge lineups are dealt with quickly and efficiently. You even get to place your order as you wait in line, saving further time. (TIP: Don't be put off if you see the line snaking around the corner of the building, it moves very fast). - Prices are decent vs US locations, didn't feel like we were being gouged a la Target. - Restaurant is clean and spacious, don't stay in one place too long though, because one of the cleaning staff may sweep you up! Washrooms were also good. - The food is delicious and equal to the chicken served at equivalent US Chick-fil-a restaurants. Their chicken is thick and juicy and those waffle fries... - You MUST have the Chick-fil-a sauce, it's a no-brainer. However, this also leads me to "the bad" below.. The BAD: - Not a lot of seating vs the amount of people visiting the restaurant. - One of the greatest things about Chick-fil-a is their awesome staff -totally unrivalled in the fast food world, in my opinion. At this location, the staff varies from awesome (apologizing to me because I had to stand at a table because the chair had been removed by another customer) to not so good -I found the checkout server to be snippy and not very welcoming. - Next is my main gripe, and one which many Canadian customers are all too familiar with: they are cheap with the "extras" here. Cheap with the napkins, cheap with the dipping sauces -you get the picture. When I visited Chick-fil-a in Chicago, I asked for condiments and the response was "how many would you like? Would you like any other sauces? Would you like anything else?" -and that employee had literally stopped what they were doing when I looked like I needed something in order to help me out -now that's service. Here in Toronto, I got one napkin and one dipping sauce (that I had to ask for). Absolutely typical Canadian short-changing of the customer. 1 napkin for greasy finger food -really? - Also, one of our Sodas was very sub-standard (was flavourless, like the mix was way off).
