Instead of waffle fries, I also opted for some mac n cheese. The mac n cheese noodles were cooked al dente which was surprising tbh. I thought they'd be mushy and overcooked like most fast food places lol. The flavour was on the saltier side though. I think they use really SHARP cheeses for their mac (I recreated some of those social media "hacks" by adding a bunch of random sauce and shaking the container which actually mellowed out some of that saltiness). First time having a grillled chicken sando from Chick Fil-A and it was good! The chicken was juicy. Chick Fil-A doesn't put any sauce in the sandos (opting to just give the customer the sauces they want so they can add whatever they want at their own leisure). While I was super disappointed at first and almost walked out, I figured since I was already there, I'd finally give their chicken a shot. I ordered the #1 combo: two tenders, fries, sliced bread, Dave's sauce, pickles, and a drink. At roughly $25 to $27, the price felt pretty steep for a takeout tender combo. I know Drake is backed as an investor here, so maybe that plays into the pricing, but it definitely felt expensive. That said, the portions are solid. The tenders were large, super juicy, and well cooked. The Medium heat level was spot on for what I wanted and it gave a nice light kick without being overly spicy. Honestly, the fries were my absolute favorite part of the meal! They were crispy, super tasty, and perfectly seasoned. The Dave's sauce was good, though a pretty familiar flavor profile if you've had similar chicken joints. The pickles added a nice crunch. My only critique on the side is the bread... getting plain white bread slices feels like a missed opportunity. If they toasted it into Texas toast, it would take the meal to another level. The fountain drink size included in the combo felt surprisingly small, especially for a takeout order. The Leslieville location itself is fantastic. The exterior design really catches your eye from the street, and the inside is spacious with two levels. I especially loved the neighborhood-specific touches, like the custom "Leslieville" graffiti art on the wall... it gives the space a great local personality. Service was friendly. Is it a bit too pricey to become a regular spot? Yeah, probably. But the quality and juiciness of the chicken are definitely there. Also the store is very smoky inside, so their ventilation system probably needs an update too. Fried chicken is the star of the show here. 10 pieces (dark meat only) for $11.99 is relatively cheap compared to other stores, namely KFC, which happens to be right next door. Juicy and fresh all the time, but there is always a wait as they can't seem to keep up with the demand. Also, if it matter to you, they serve halal chicken only Divey place, great fried chicken.
