Came in to see if they had the Giants out of network football game. To my surprise they did along with several other games. They even put the teams logos on each TV showing what game is showing on that TV. That was very useful when you were following several games at once. We got some great game day food specials. Disappointing service. Only one server, bar tender, paying attention to the bar flies. ordered, salad, cheese sticks and 2 slices of peperoni. It all came out at once, salad had tomatoes, which i expressly said no tomatoes while ordering. Second salad comes out warm at best could not even finish it. Pizza was hot and good as expected and cheese sticks were also good. With a drink, unsweet tea, total cost was $31 and change. Totally over priced, at most this should cost around $20. It's been a while since I've been to "Cho's". On a whim, I decided to grab a pie and a pint, and watch some football. Never knew they had a Hickory location -- it's kinda hidden in a strip mall. But... I'm stoked that I did. For those unfamiliar with Chicho's, it's an institution, with the original being right on the main drag in VB near the oceanfront. As locals are no longer allowed down there, they opened up new locations across the land. Apparently, they got lost, and opened up a location in Hickory. I guess even Great Bridge folks need a "shot & a draft" special. What shot and what draft? You don't ask those questions here. Ever. Under any circumstances. Thankfully, that's no longer a thing. At least, that's what my liver tells me. Now, why has it been a while since I've been to a Chicho's? Simple. Last time I went there, it kinda sucked. I won't say which location, but they know who they are. Regardless, the sleepy Hickory location was the bomb. First off... the service. Thus Chicho's is the size of a Volkswagen Bus. It's tiny. So, only one bartender. Morgan. But, Morgan was on top of it. The pizza was fucking awesome. Perfectly cooked. No need for extra anything. And, on Sunday... it's like $10. Yep. I did not stutter. I wasn't planning on eating half a pizza. I promise. But damn... it was so effing good. Like... the CRUST was good. I'll throw the crust away on 90% of pizzas. Not today, Satan. I'm eating the fucking crust. So... to sum it all up, Chicho's Hickory gives you another reason to visit mom in her aging Great Bridge McMansion. If you gotta be out this way, at least grab a solid pie while you're here. You won't regret it. read more

I will start by saying I have been a long term customer since this location opened and have always been nothing but satisfied...until last night. I made a simple order of a extra large pepperoni pizza with extra extra pepperoni and spicy sauce. When the order arrived and I opened the box my jaw about hit the floor...there were exactly 24 pieces of pepperoni on the pizza and almost no sauce on the Pizza. I immediately called the location and was told that this is what I ordered and there was nothing they could do about it...long story short if you look at the picture and call that a regular pepperoni pizza let alone and extra extra pepperoni pizza...then keep supporting this location...I for one will never entertain ordering from this location again!!! BTW that is very hard for me to say as I love supporting local establishments, but getting the response I did along with the very sub par product...I am actually quite offended!!! read more

got pizza by the slice, one pepperoni and two cheese. all three slices cooked perfect by the slice. dining in service definitely was slower which is understandable because there was only one waitress/bartender. but aside from the slower service food was good and wait time wasn't too long for food. definitely would eat here again and next time will order a whole pizza :) read more

Chicho's has opened a second location in Chesapeake and I've been itching to give it a try, especially since the my experiences at the other one have been miserable. After spending most of the day on Saturday working on a retro hardware project I stopped in here on the way home to order some carry out. First thing, this place is tiny. When you walk in the door you have to hang an immediate right and then a left to go into the dining area. There's a small bar on the left side and tables along the right wall. These are high top tables just like the old Cho's on Atlantic Ave at the oceanfront. There were a couple of people at the back end of the bar and a couple of the tables also had guests. The guys at the bar were drunk, which leads me to my second thing... It can get very loud in here. I'm sure that's because it's so small. The drunk guys were loud, and talking to a girl, I'm assuming one of their girlfriends, on speaker phone. The whole room could hear it. They were real classy. Anyway, a server named Kelly ended up taking my order. It was apparently her first day and she was coping with it. I let her know I wanted to order a pizza to carry out and a pint while I waited. Keeping it simple I ordered a large pepperoni with the famous Chicho's spicy sauce and for the brew I had a Devils Backbone Vienna Lager from the tap. They had 8 beers on tap by the way and there were other bottled options as well. My order took about 20 minutes and I sipped my lager and worked the apps on my phone. Once the pie came out and I paid the bill and was on my way. Just a note, on Saturdays they appear to have a $10 special on 2 topping pizzas. They were changing shifts and I overheard the new sever telling my server about that. She corrected the bill for me before handing it over to be signed. That was cool, she could have let it go and I wouldn't have been the wiser. All in all it ran me about $16 with the tip. How was the pizza? It was excellent. I took it home, dropped the box on the stove and opened it up... Picture snapped, plate loaded. Taste was excellent, and I do mean excellent. I was very happy with the pie. Will I be back, definitely and next time I may just eat in. read more

I've been waiting to post a review for this place! Absolutely amazing! I called the manager and asked if they would deliver to S Battlefield to my preschool daycare as early as 11:30am. He was extremely friendly and accommodating. He said , "Of course we do." He also gave us a school discount of $6 a large pizza since we ordered more than 5 pizzas. He delivered them himself and was very apologetic for being only 5 minutes late (which he called to inform us). The pizzas were very yummy! They were cheesy and hot as if they were straight out of the oven. They even double cut it for us. We will be ordering all our pizzas for our parties and staff from Chicho's from now on!! read more

I have done pick up order a few times here (pepperoni and cheese pizzas) and I am always disappointed. The pizza is flat and like cardboard. It isn't cheap either! I feel like i wasted my Money both times; I would rather go to dominoes. The bartenders are friendly but it definitely seems like more of a place to drink than enjoy good food. I've had an exceptional experience tonight with the owner, staff and food. They have a large choice of food and appetizers to choose from. Friendly people and I would recommend them to everyone I know. I have a large family of picky eaters. Everyone was able to find something for their picky palette. This is our new pizza place. So they paid to have flyers brought to my house- ok cool- I enjoy trying to support local businesses. My $27 dollar meal was not good at all. My calzone and garlic knots were burnt/over done. ( I have tried to upload a pic) Chicken Wings under done. My general comment was lack of attention to cooking. I will not be returning nor would I recommend. First time in the restaurant and my last. We arrived and the place was not very busy, it took forever to get a server to take our drink order and when it was delivered it wasn't even what we ordered. We ordered nachos and a large pizza as well. We had another table come in and their order was taken and food delivered before we ever got out nachos. When I asked the waitress she said they have a small oven and it would take a while. Hmmm . Then how did the table that came in after us get their nachos before us. Once the nachos came the pizza was delivered at the same time which defeated the purpose of getting an appetizer in the first place... Rating of 3 based on a 5 for food taste and 0 for service. Food was tasty but the service was lackluster. Simple order of a Large Garden Pizza with Pepperoni added and a Calzone with Ham and shrooms with the tots. Pizza came out looked great but noticed no Pepperoni, no biggie, never got the tots, did not need them anyway. Check came out with charges for the tots .75 and the pepperoni $1.50. Waitress realized the tots were not delivered and corrected the check but when we ask about being charged for the invisible pepperoni she said the cook told her they put them under the cheese. I might be stupid but I am not ignorant and know what pepperoni taste and looks like. I ripped the leftover slice open to show her we did not get the pepperoni she said she would have to get the manager to correct the bill, we said fine but conveniently they were not available. Bill was corrected finally by one of the cooks she said? She still got her 19% tip by the way. Bottomline it was never about the few extra $s being over charged but the fact that we were flat out lied to by your staff. Sorry service, and being lied too keeps me out of places like yours that actually sells a good product. Good luck finding reliable employees.
