There are a decent amount of seats at this location but there is always a flow of people coming in and out and the environment is very noisy. I got the green tea because it has 3 stars (the highest rated drink on the menu and the highest rating I'll give it ), picked mango flavoring (because you can't go wrong with mango right?), and of course, boba. The boba is nice, shape is good, but nothing that makes me go WOW. The mango and green tea itself was underwhelming. It was like a mango juice. They do ask what sugar and ice level you prefer. They give you a sample of what their "perfect sweetness" is like at 70% and having a sweet tooth, I thought it can be sweeter. So I asked if they can make it 80%. They said no. I was greatly disappointed that they were not willing to adapt to my tastes. I ultimately received a drink that was subpar. While there is a cool string tied around the cup, the size of the cup is shockingly small compared to other bubble tea competitors. Walking into this store was like walking into a tea bag, it smells just like a fresh cup. It's wonderful. The interior of the restaurant is really white and bright and well decorated. We went to the soft opening on May 20 and waited about 1.5 hours total (from getting in line to ordering to receiving the drinks), and it was so worth it! As soon as you enter, the strong aromas of freshly brewed tea surround you. They offer samples once you order, and every drink is customizable. I had never heard of this place before but after seeing all the fun/exotic options on the menu it is definitely high on my radar now. The mousse was kind of like a sweeter cheese foam and didn't dissolve readily into the drink when mixed, but after I drank down a little of it I added oat milk to it to increase the volume and then the mousse dissolved easier. It's a super cute concept but unnecessary if they're trying to speed things along for as many people to come in and order as possible. I've tried their classic milk tea with boba and the milk tea with taro paste and taro balls. The milk tea was pretty good. You can taste the strong black tea flavor, and the creaminess level is good too. However, the tapioca pearls weren't cooked very well. They were hard and a bit too mushy. I avoided getting pearls during my second visit and opted for the taro balls instead. That was definitely a favorite. I usually adjust the sweetness level at other shops but Chicha's recommended 'perfect' is approximately equal to a 70% sweetness at other shops - my ideal! Friendly service with lots of workers prepping drinks. The servers are all very well dressed and the glass counters allow you to see that tea is literally being brewed to a certain temperature for each drink. We loved our drinks and it was so helpful that they had samples of sugar level types at the cashier to help you make your determination on which drink is right for you. The pricing is high, but I think it's worth it. The tea is freshly made, and the drinks come in awesome carry out slings. Beware! This quality comes at a price though, as the three dollar signs will tell you this place ain't cheap. But coming from a coffee snob like me, it's worth it if you're in the mood for high tier tea. The shop itself is kind of small and designed for groups of 2-3 (or more likely for you to fork over your cash and get outta there so they can get money from the next person). Which is another problem, when they get busy it can take a while to order and get your drinks. Pro tip, there's a self service station to order from if you know what you want and don't want to talk to the cashier. They are very helpful though if you have any questions. As far as the tea I will start with mentioning my girlfriend's passion fruit green tea with coconut jelly was phenomenal. Easily the best fruit boba I have had in Austin thus far. With the sweetness at their aptly named "perfect" level it was bursting with flavor. The tea flavor shined through just enough and overall there was a lot of depth to the drink. Coconut jelly was delicious and really complimented the drink and allowed it to be more satisfying. As far as my drinks, I opted for the cream/ milk tea route. I started off ordering the green tea with cream which is what unfortunately what brings my review down to 4 stars. It really disappointed, very watery and not sweet despite a "perfect" (70%) sweetness level. I am not a big sweet person so that is saying something. It just didn't satisfy or deliver in any way. Transparently, maybe that is how it was supposed to taste and some love it but was not for me and after my girlfriend's drink it just did not compare. As mentioned previously, service was incredible and they allowed me to swap my drink. I deferred to the judgement of the employee at the register to select a milk tea that he thought they do well and is popular. Unsurprisingly he recommended the brown sugar milk tea. After receiving my replacement drink I took a sip and it was much better. Definitely a lot sweeter, unfortunately almost too sweet. It's been 2 months and having had Chicha 5 times now, there needs to be transparent updates. Sadly, I had to knock out some stars. One thing I recommend customers to consider is to NOT GO ON A WEEKEND. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was too crowded. I could understand it initially being busy with the soft opening, and shop trying to figure out the logistics. However, it's been months now and it's as if I was in the same exact spot when they first opened. The line was crowded, and each person/group took at least 5 minutes+ to make an order. It was hot and didn't help with the amount of people in the shop. The one difference they had was having a self order machine next to the cashier, but the line didn't seem like it was moving any faster. After 30 minutes of waiting, we waited for another 30 minutes to get our drinks. I ordered my usual osmanthus milk tea and konjac and my partner ordered the pouchang tea. After an hour of waiting, our drinks were sadly a bust. It tasted weird, almost like a mix of teas. The bobas were alright, didn't taste consistent as it did before. We just felt so disappointed. Our theory is that due to the high demands, there was not enough time to brew and clean the tea espresso as before. Overall, I feel like the hype is over and it's a shame because I had really high hopes for this place! I recommend that they really evaluate on the service and efficiency. Surprisingly, the drink had enough of a sugary taste to it that was plenty good. For this drink in particular, the sugar options are perfect sugar or no sugar, no in-between. Each drink comes with a hemp string attached to each side that can be used to carry the cup around. Very interesting, and different compared to any other bubble tea place I've been to.
