The only negative thing I could say about this place is that sometimes they don't have the tres leches cake. :( I love burritos and my girlfriend loves burgers and this place has the best of both. I always find myself covetting what my girlfriend got, even though everything I have gotten there has been bomb! I particularly love the wet burrito, the tres leches cake (duh) and the horchata. The burgers are top notch as well. If you are in the LA area and looking for amazing vegan places, this one is definitely worth the drive. They also have a little hidden area in the back that can be really nice and seems to be a well kept secret (sorry). This is my favorite vegan restaurant, hands down. Their burgers are the best and better than a lot of places' real meat burgers. I get the Hotty or Wild West. So flavorful, you can't tell they're plant based. The only downside is that this place is kind of small so you either have to get there early if you want to eat inside or get takeout to go. But this place has spoiled me into thinking other vegan restaurants would be just as good and taste just as flavorful, but that hasn't been the case. I still haven't found a place that makes vegan fast food as good as Chicana Vegana. My personal favorite (although this time is a bit more salty than normal) is the Mushroom Melt with spicy dipping sauce. read more

Main entrees include burgers, burritos, tacos, melt sandwiches and even a kid's menu! My friend ordered an Asada and Carnitas taco with guac and a side of Rice. I ordered an El Burrito Mojado (red sauce) and a side of chips, guac and salsa. My choice proteins, Asada and Carnitas. It had good chunks of meat, with a grilled flavor. Combined with the toppings, was moist and very filling. The sala looked like chipotle sauce, was pretty spicy. If you're craving some really good vegan Mexican food, it's worth it's 5 Star rating! read more

Vegan Mexican is not something I stumble upon easily so I was keen to try this place. I prefer more veggies in my veg burritos than tofu but the one here was actually pretty good. Filled with fries ( can't go wrong with that !) And tofu it was definitely satiating. Sit down over take out probably would have kept the fries crispy over soft but still good. This place is trouble paradise for vegans and non vegans alike. There's nothing in the menu that doesn't sound amazingly I had the carne asada fries with hot sauce on the side. The fact that they even care to make their house salsa taste amazing is a good sign. Their carne asada fries are DELICIOUS. I seriously got full but still kept eating them because they were THAT good. The fries are well seasoned. The "meat" was marinaded so well. My bf order the philly melt and by the time I looked up, it was gone. I'm guessing he loved it. My son got the chicken nuggets and fries and loved them! Heck yes!!! I had the western burger with the impossible patty and it was amazing!! It tasted better than a beef burger. The fries were cooked to perfection. Crispy, crunchy, and not oily. It has been a few weeks since our visit to Chicana Vegana and I'm still dreaming about it. We had a few hours to kill and after reading the menu online and seeing all the colourful images, we went out of our way to check this place out. The space itself is fairly small but had enough seating to accommodate everyone who wanted to eat in. All of the walls are painted bright colours with comic book-style art depicting vegan superheroes rescuing animals. For most menu options, you are given the chance to choose your preferred protein, beyond or impossible for burgers and asada, al pastor, carnitas, or mexgogi for everything else. The portions for everything are HUGE so keep that in mind when you order. I had the mexgogi fries which were as fully loaded as they come. I ate so much and felt like I barely made a dent in the pile. I'm going to be dreaming of Chicana for years to come. It will be a must-visit the next time I'm in the area. read more

{EDIT: In response to the owner's comment. This is more than just a "SLIGHT CHAR" and "BURNT" to peoples liking. Look at the photos circled in RED. They were not "slightly burnt" they were completely BLACK and INEDIBLE. Those edges were just a tip of the iceberg. Everything else underneath covered by all that stuff hides it from the customers' viewpoint. We've eaten here many times before throughout the years and it was never like this. I don't know what you think your customers like but it's carcinogen that can cause cancer. Making an excuse to use your customers saying they like this stuff is not right. I don't think your customers will eat this. How can the cook even think of serving this to customers and letting it fly out the window like that. Would they eat it? I bet the people that work here aren't even into these types of food and doesn't care because they don't eat it. But other people do care. The nonchalant response from the owner speaks volumes and reflects the attitude of their own employees. Owner didn't even own up to their mistakes just like the employees. Owner never even DM'd me like they said they would. They probably figured we'd never come back anyway. This is bad for your business. This is beyond more than just burned food but service as well. Not sure what happened to this place but they need to change this. Haven't been here for awhile and my experience was never this bad. They screwed up our order three times. The place literally just opened 6/23/24 and we were the first ones to order. How can they mess that up. It was a simple al pastor fries. Only one order--messed up not once, twice, but three times. First, the al pastor was black and burned. I added photos to show. So we kindly asked them to replace it. When they came with the new batch, the order was wrong. They gave us nachos instead of fries. So we again, returned it to be redone correctly--each time we had to keep getting back in line standing there with the order in our hands. Again, they replaced it, but the third time it got less and worse. Each time the order came back, it was not only wrong and burned, but the quality and amount kept getting less and less. The food was still burnt and the presentation got weaker--which shows inconsistency. It's like they gave up on it. The amount got less and there was barely any meat by the time the third attempt was made. It lacked everything by the end of everything. Less meat, just a bunch of soggy fries at the bottom, and lacked all the stuff on top of it. I think since they kept screwing up the order, they started to skimp out on ingredients toward the end. When it was brought up to the cashier about the meat being burned, her response was "that's how our asada meat comes, the seasoning is like that, I THINK" which means she wasn't sure. We cook plant-based and mock soy meats all the time and it doesn't get burnt like that. I felt it was just an excuse instead of owning up to it. Worse of all they were unapologetic and was nonchalant about the whole thing. For those who eat here, please note that consistently eating their product this way can eventually cause health issues. We sure wouldn't want to be eating this type of food. In the long run would not recommend this place. Service was mediocre and could be better. Show more empathy and be more aware. They also charge $1.00 for a few limes. They messed up the order so many times that they ended up just giving it. This place used to be good and the amount used to be plenty, but today's experience was not the business. For al pastor fries to cost that much, they just loaded nothing but fries and less meat having burning them so many times and messing up the order, they were trying to save money by giving us less. We are don't live down the street as we always drive over 25 miles (to an hour) for years supporting this small business. We don't appreciate our time being wasted. We were REALLY nice about it too. Aww man, I just knew I was gonna love the Cali-Baerito because it has everything in the burrito that I love. However, I was disappointed after taking several bites. It was way too salty. I don't know if it was the fries, guacamole or the asada. I was only able to tolerate half of the burrito. I threw the other half away. I can't see how anyone could eat that burrito. My favorite vegan burgers, and one of my fave vegan restaurants!! I've been here several times, and Chicana never misses with their quality and flavor. During my most recent visit, my friend and I came in for dinner on a weekday. There were only a couple other people inside, so ordering was quick and easy. You can order and pay with the cashier or at the self-order kiosk. We waited about 10 mins for our food, and it was well worth it. I always get the classic burger and opt for no cheese since I'm not a fan of vegan cheese. The impossible patty is my fave vegan meat! The flavor and texture are delicious and substantial, in contrast to other vegan patties that taste artificial or have a mushy texture. The veggies on the burger (lettuce, tomato, onion) were all so fresh and delicious. The bun was fluffy and had great flavor. Their burger sauce (1000 island) is also awesome!! They put a ton of burger sauce and ketchup on my burger, which I really appreciate since I love a lot of sauce. This does make the burger pretty messy though! Their fries are soooo good!! Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside! Makes sure to get the seasoned fries (default); I once made the mistake of getting non-seasoned fries and they were much smaller, closer to the size of McDonalds fries, and flavorless :'( Their seasoned fries are the way to go! I can't speak much on the other menu items since I always get the burger, it's just that good lol. I'm not vegan, but I will choose a burger from here over many other meat burgers out there! I like the vibes and decor inside the restaurant, and they also have some fun Chicana Vegana shirts! My only critiques are that the prices are pretty steep, and I wish there was more seating for folks dining in. However, the quality of these burgers is worth treating myself every now and then. Initially I was going for mexican but decided to try the Jalapeño Hotty Burger (with the impossible patty & brioche bun) and their seasoned fries. The burger was amazing. Our new favorite go to vegan Mexican spot in the heart of downtown Fullerton! It's crazy how flavorful their seasoning is. I totally loved eating my breakfast burrito - it got me so full after! My boyfriend loves this place as well and he always gets the carnitas because it's their only soy free option. The nachos were unlike any other! We couldn't believe how the melted "cheese" tastes so good - we wanted to know the secret recipe! My only complaint would be that I wish they had more soy-free protein for my boyfriend who is allergic to soy. Unfortunately, he could never try the carne asada, bacon, chorizo and other proteins since they're all soy based. It is really nice to see that you can choose between Beyond or Impossible burger meat in their burger section! It's already our 2nd time back here and there's always something new to try on the menu. Also I just wish they'd bring back the tres leches!! Lastly, I was a little disappointed that I had to pay .50c for hot sauce. I chose the mild salsa which isn't spicy at all, but still tasty. The food was ready rather quick, and portions are decent. Trying to get back on my plant based diet, so when this place popped up on my suggestions, i had to go check it out. I ordered through the website and you can choose a time when you want to pick up. The food came out at the exact time it said it would. There is limited street parking in front, so best bet would be the lot behind the restaurant, but even that is pretty hard to find spots at times. I got the calibaerito with carnitas and a side of green salsa. The burrito is loaded with seasoned fries, so that is why I didn't get any fries as a side order. The burrito was a really good size and I was full after eating it. Couldn't really taste any "meat", but the burrito was still really flavorful and delicious. There are lots of other stuff on the menu to try. It's a little pricey, but I think it was worth it. I'll try to come back every few weeks to have my "cheat meal" burger or burrito. read more

I have had their tacos, fries, burritos, and cake. The food feels very fresh and I never had something that felt simply reheated. We've tried a lot of vegan Mexican places and they don't do it the way chicana does it. The texture and the taste of all the food is very well done. It leaves you wanting to try more from their menu.
