The car was lovely, and my driver very nice. That said, I was surprised about 2 things: 1. He didn't offer to open my door for me getting in and getting out. I had to ask, and I felt that paying at least 40$ more for a black car service than I would for a Lyft (who also offers an elite black car for slightly higher than usual) entitled me to more than just picking up and dropping off. Insult to injury, he had been pre-warned by company, as well as myself on the phone with him the day of travel, that I had injured my foot and would be moving slowly. 2. After taking my rolling suitcases out at the airport (again, same service offered on Lyft), it surprised me that he said goodbye and started to head to his car door before wheeling them up to the sidewalk for me. It wasn't until I said, "oh, wait" whilst digging in my purse for a $15 tip, that he suddenly got the idea to wheel them over for me. The only positive that came from this experience is the gracious apology letter I received from the company. However, I don't believe I will be using this company again, because it's not worth risking the additional 40+ dollars to, likely, experience similar. Overall, I believe I wasted my money. read more

I dropped the ball and did not try to book airport transportation service for a trip to Chicago until the day I was arriving. I didn't think I would have much luck, but Chicago Private Car came through. We had no trouble locating our driver, Ron, at O'Hare for pick up. Also, for our return trip back to O'Hare we received a text message with a link to a site which showed information about our driver and how far away they were so we knew when to be ready and outside. Both of our drivers (Ron and Nosakhare) were friendly and on time. I would utilize this car service again if I am ever back in Chicago. read more

I hired this car service for a group of friends that needed to get home from a music festival outside of Chicago. It was a last minute hire and was super easy and affordable compare to Uber/Lyft and other car service prices. Our driver, Tim, showed up 20 minutes early and communicated his location very well. I was in town for a wedding and needed reliable, professional charter to and from the wedding. Glad to have used Chicago Private Car Service! The driver that picked me up offered to drive me around the elk farm nearby because we arrived a little bit early at the wedding venue. He was very friendly and pleasant. Great service and provides kid's car seats! I have a difficult time finding rides to airport providing car seat. Private Car Service has the best car seat rates ($15 per seat) and services. Arrived on-time with a clean car. Neil was great, he went above and beyond.he put both of my kids in the car seats when we were busy making sure we got everything done before leaving the house and he went to the baggage claim to meet us and to help with our bags. I've been using Chicago Private Car for 3 years now, picking me up from Midway Airport every Thursday evening. I've only had one time where a driver showed up 20 minutes late, but every other time, always promptly showing up within 5 minutes of exiting the terminal. The drivers are very accommodating and friendly and the town cars make for a comfortable ride home after a long flight. The last thing you want to do is wait in the taxi line, which can take up to 30 minutes, so Chicago Private Car is highly recommended for those avid travelers and consultants. I certainly won't be using this service again. I reserved a car for each night of the weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Friday - Driver was relatively on time but did not follow directions to the meeting spot that was in the system. Yes, there was a ton of traffic and some roads were closed, but that shouldn't have prevented him from reaching the pick up. Plenty of other cars were taking the same route. The driver was just not prepared to follow the directions. There were multiple routes for him to take in order to get there and he simply didn't do it. Resulted in my group having to walk/run to flag him down a ways from the meet up spot. Saturday - Got a call in the afternoon that they wouldn't have a car available for me. What's the point of reserving car service if they can just say "sorry, no one is available" at any time? What company is unprepared to fulfill their contract with a customer? The woman I spoke to first said no one was available and then later said the car broke down. Ok, I get that things happen, but also the reason someone reserves a car weeks in advance is so they don't have to worry about figuring out transportation that day. They couldn't offer me anything in return because my card wasn't charged anyway. You'd think there would be a back up plan. Sunday - So of course, I cancelled my Sunday car. If I can't trust them to fulfill their promise, what's the point? Separately, their online booking service has issues so be careful. Anytime I made a change to my reservation (pick up location or time) it would change the date to be some completely random date in the future! I never touched the date section and yet suddenly my September reservation is for December. Lucky I caught those errors. read more

I had been using Chicago Private Car for several years, about 50 times per year and finally decided to switch. The experience you have is very mixed, it highly depends on the drivers you get. There are some very good drivers, and also some highly annoying drivers. When I say annoying, I mean drivers that will ignore the route you suggest, have very weird conversations with you, and there is one that drivers slower than anyone I have ever been in the car with. The good news is that you can set a "blacklist" of driver you don't want them to send, and a "request" list of drivers you want them to send. The bad news is that the dispatchers don't always look at this list, or respect the list. Also, on numerous occasions, the dispatcher will misrepresent the amount of time the driver will take to get from the staging area to the pickup area at Ohare. They will greatly understate the wait time, and in my opinion, they will lie about how long it will take the driver to get there. They have been OK most times, terrible at times, and the price is reasonable, but the issues above happened too may times for me to ignore. I am taking my business elsewhere. read more

I used Chicago Private Car for the better part of two years but as of now, have stopped using them completely and am trying a few other options. I looked back at my receipts and in the course of about 50 total rides, I only had trouble maybe 4 times. 50 x $65 a ride = $3250 I've personally paid to CPC in the last 2 years, by the way. The first 3 times bad things happened, I was willing to forgive, but this last one - there's no more business going from me to CPC, ever. My flight arrived late on a Thursday night, which any business traveler knows is the worst time for taxi's at either airport, so it's nice to have a car waiting for you instead of fighting the taxi line. I called CPC dispatch when I landed and the first time, it went to voicemail - bad sign number once, since they have caller ID and could clearly see I was looking for my car. I called back again, and got someone on the phone, who hemmed and hawed and put me on hold - I knew right then they did not have a car for me, despite me having a reservation and a confirmation. Coming back from hold the dispatcher tried to make excuses & I simply told him I wasn't interested in hearing them, and that I was done using their business forever. So, my warning to fellow Yelpers; on a good day, CPC will get a car to you and get you where you are going, but on a bad day - and bad days do happen - they will totally leave you stranded, even if you're a good, reliable, forgiving, long-time customer. I was very disappointed with this car service. I booked two trips with them - over a week ahead of time. The morning of my pick up - I called 45 minutes before my pickup time to confirm that the driver would be there at 8:15am. However, the car did not show up till 8:54am. I called several times and was continually told another 5 or 10 minutes. Once the car arrived, the drive was not polite and the car was less than clean. On my second trip of the day, the car (a different driver) was early. The driver was pleasant and informative however this car wasn't very clean either. If you have time to spare - I might use them but if you are on a tight time-line - I wouldn't recommend them.yycych read more

On a recent Girls' Night Out, my girlfriends decided on a car service to take us to and from a busy tequila bar with no valet or street parking. My friend had a good experience with this company in the past, so she booked them. Car #44 picked us up. The car was clean and the driver was super nice and chatty. He had us pumped up and ready to party. He also let us know that we should call about 45 minutes in advance before we needed to be picked up, since it was a busy Saturday night. Car #14 came at the time we requested. The driver was courteous and quiet and his car was very clean as well. It was a very cold winter night, and he even had the heated seats in the back warmed up for us. I'm told that the prices were comparable to taxi fares, but this service did not charge us a per person fee or a weekend surcharge. Also, I did not see any empty cabs in the area when we were ready to leave. I'm adding Chicago Private Car Service's number into my phone in case I ever need them in the future! read more

Dependable Service - Clean Cars - Courteous Drivers I have used Chicago Private Car Service several times during the past week for airport pick-ups and drop-offs - some with additional stops in between - and I am quite impressed. From the city, the cars were always ready and waiting prior to the scheduled time - regardless of the time of day. And the system of calling when your flight arrives at the airport is simple and efficient. The dispatcher confirms your name and drop-off location and tells you your car number and what terminal door to exit. The car is there - with a numbered placard when you exit - and off you go! The cars are sleek and well detailed, and among the cleanest service cars I have used. The drivers are courteous and do the job with efficiency. It's my birthday and I decided that the girls and I shouldn't have to fight for parking so I called around and found that Chicago Private Car was much cheaper than other services. I needed a vehicle that would fit 5 of us, but I didn't want a limo since I wasn't going on the prom and this isn't the Bad Girls Club and they sent me a nice Lincoln Navigator and a super accommodating driver. He was prompt, courteous and non-chatty just like I expect from a driver (regular taxi drivers should take note) and when we added a late night diner run to our evening, he rolled with the punches and the price change wasn't eye gouging. I only withheld a star because when I first called for a quote, someone said they'd call me back about SUV availability and they never did, so I had to call again, but I booked with no problem after that. Once again for the third time Chicago Private Car Service has left me stranded. I write this email from the back of an UBER as I race to make a flight. I understand stuff happens...I accept that. Drivers call in sick, car break down etc. what I do not tolerate is being outright lied to putting my overall plans at risk. I should also note, after the last two times this happened, my customer profile was updated to include a bold note indicating, "If the driver is going to be more than 5 minutes late, please call the customer with an update." I had a 5:30 am pickup for a flt boarding at 6:25. At 5:35 I called and spoke with Arthur who guaranteed me the driver is only 5 minutes away... I pleaded with Arthur...please be honest...this flight is too important to miss. Without checking or calling his driver, Arthur said "Sir, it's five minutes." I said, "Arthur, this keep happening and it's always 20 minutes...please tell me the truth." Again without checking "5 minutes..." We all know how this ends...20 minutes later and no car... This is the 3rd time this exact scenario has played out. Now at 6:09 I receive a call that my car has arrived. This is total BS. read more

It really depends upon who you get here, but in general, they're very dependable and the best cost in town. No extra fees (other than a gas surcharge, which was small and only lasted for a while). Can call them at a last minute and usually get something... and I mean like you need to leave in 25 minutes. I have been ditched by them twice in 7 years, so I guess that's a good overall batting average. Sometimes overly chatty drivers.... a few whose driving scared me (my one this AM in particular), but who hasn't had that. They're on time and clean. Not a limo service. Booked an pickup to midway for 430am. Car was 15 minutes late and didn't know how to get to midway. I live off of a major street in Chicago! Give me a break. Top it off when I called to ask the dispatcher he said the driver is waiting in the alley. 5 minutes later no car. When I called the dispatcher back he must have recognized the number bc he never picked up nor did the company check to see if I made my flight. We've used Chicago Private Car for years to drive us from Chicago to O'Hare. We've used them repeatedly for both personal and business travel, probably 20-25X per year. But no more. We left the country for 10 days and booked Chicago Private Car for both the trip to and from the airport. No problem with the trip to ORD. Our return trip was reserved far in advance, and our flight was to land at 10:10pm on Saturday March 1. There was snow in the area that night, but our flight arrived on time. After we collected our luggage at 10:35, we called to let them know we were ready for pickup. Typically they have a driver in the holding area and they show up in minutes. We were left on hold for 9 minutes and knew something was very wrong. The dispatcher came back on the phone and told us "we don't have a car for you". We explained that we had a reservation, that we expected a car. The dispatcher's answer and apparent final solution, "I'll leave a note for a manager". And that was it. We asked if they would get a driver and he said he would try. So, we got the a cab line, which was about an hour long. The dispatcher called back after 30 minutes and said he thought a driver could be there in 45 minutes, almost two hours after our flight landed. We passed, and took a cab. I asked the dispatcher to have a manager call me on Monday. No call. I sent an email to Chicago Private Car on Tuesday. No response. I called again on Thursday, the manager was supposedly out. Left a message, and...you guessed it...no response. Three strikes and you're out. I would have expected a call (and a sincere apology) from management at the open of business Monday morning for their mistake. Instead....crickets. If this is how they treat repeat, loyal customers, I'm not sure that they can be relied on. I certainly won't be recommending them anymore. read more

Maybe this is petty, but I used this car service for the first time tonight, and was less than impressed. I had been travelling for business for 3 days straight and my flight had been delayed and I was exhausted. I kept in communication with them and everything was fine with pick up. BUT the driver was, for lack of a better word, a dick. After being handed the bill miles before arriving at my home, I paid, along with a handsome tip. Then after asking if I needed change I cracked a joke about being so tired all I needed was some whiskey and my bed. No response - then I even said - "No? Not funny, eh? Anything?". Nothing. I just gave you a 35% tip and you're gonna ignore me because now I've paid you and you don't give a crap? Then I am dropped off at the curb across a busy street from my house. Maybe it's just me, but I felt used. It ruined my already crappy long-assed day and night. Never. Again. There are just too many options out there. read more

In a word, Sucks. Terrible service. I have reserved them for round trip service. So the driver shows up almost 45 minutes late for pickup meanwhile I am calling the main number and either they are ignoring my calls & one time they picked up the call & had no answer as to where & how long, I almost called UBER. When the driver finally showed up his car was old, dirt & smelly. I ignored all of that because I was happy someone came because I almost missed my flight. Things really got heated when they did it again on my way back, the car didn't show up to airport, when I called them, the girl said we don't have anyone available right now, WTF, I had paid everything in advance and you don't have anyone available, what kind of S$@# is that? I had to take UBER back to my house. Needless to say , I won't use them ever again, I will not recommend to my colleagues, friends & family. Neither I recommend you to take them. He took me the long way around to see the lake on the way to my appointment and through the city on the way back so that I could get a good idea of what Chicago was about in the short amount of time I had. I tried Chicago Private Car Service recently for a long trip out of town, not wanting to leave my car at the parking lot for a full two weeks. Their rates are way cheaper than any other car service, and the service doesn't seem to suffer from it - mostly. My driver on the way to the airport was very courteous, right on time, a great experience. No goofy driving habits like some drivers can have (driving 55mph in the fast lane, pulsing the throttle and brake, etc). A very good experience. On the way home, I called for my pickup and...no reservation found. I know I made it when I called for the "outbound" ride...so, what the heck? Thankfully, they had cars available, so it was no big deal, but what if it had been a more busy afternoon - I could have been in big trouble. To their credit, the driver was again excellent. So, this is going to be my new go-to for car service, but we'll see if we can hold on to reservations a bit better. One thing I would like to see would be online reservations - even my old (and annoying) My Chauffeur/Embarq had a semi functional reservation system. read more

Terrible customer service. Their booking agents are incredibly inconsistent. I just landed at O'Hare after a long flight from India. When I called to let them know I was ready for pick-up, the agent said that the car was 5 minutes away. After 10 minutes I called back for a status and the agent said that the driver was stuck in O'Hare traffic and would be 5 minutes more. After another 7 minutes, I checked their app to see that the driver was actually still 15 minutes away and was dispatched from south of the airport. When I called back again, the agent continued to lie to me about how bad the traffic was getting into the airport. When I called her on the lie, she canceled my pick-up. Tyrone(car #86) saved this review. He was great. Calm, safe, considerate driver on crazy highways in the suburbs at rush hour. If he goes into business for himself, I'll call him again. My big gripe is the dishonest nature of their pricing. I was in Downers Grove for business, and saw on their well-arranged website that the cost for a ride from DG to Midway Airport would be $47. When the bill came though, it wasn't $47. It was $53. Plus a $3 fuel surcharge that was never once mentioned before I was handed the bill. Plus a $2 "airport tax" that was also never once mentioned before I was handed the bill. That comes to $58, not $47. I would not have called them for $58, as my employer won't reimburse that large of a bill. They probably know this very well, and just lie on their website to make the sale. Let me start of with my I reserved two round trip 7 passenger black SUV two weeks notice. Car 1: Pickup: Not only did he get lost but asked and was demanding a tip. (Very unprofessional! Who ask and get mad). First of all he was going to get a tip but that changed quickly with his attitude. After the night was over only 1 black car showed up and the company never book the round trip on the other vehicle. Sadly they were booked and 7 people were left without a ride home. 7 out of towners that did not know their way in Chicago! We had trouble finding service as everything was booked/busy so at the end we needed to seperate everyone to get home. This was horrible. Party ended at 12am didn't get home till 2AM. Unbelievable. For everybody yelping about having to wait for there car at ohare I drove a livery in Chicago and ohare is a circus, to get in the arrival pickup area takes livery drivers on the average 30 mins. This review is a long time coming. I've been using Chicago Private Cars for about 9 years for airport transportation. The drivers are all polite, on time and very careful drivers. When I call to make reservations, they are always cheerful and helpful for determining pick up times at my place to get me to the airport in plenty of time for my flight. I just had them take me home from O'Hare yesterday, and they charged my personal credit card instead of my business card. I called and the lady, I'm sorry I don't know her name, sent a message to their finance department and they credited my personal card right away and put the charge on my business card.
