Great and friendly service. These guys fixed my Dell laptop screen. The pricing was well worth it and the location is right in the thick of Lincoln Park. read more

This place doesn't even deserve a 1 star, that's how bad it is. I dropped off my computer yesterday after being told (after I in great detail explained the problem) what the issue was, how to fix it and how much it would cost. Over the phone I was told It was only take 12 hours or less, after an entire day went by I called and found out now the price has gone up to over $250 and there was no proof or no explanation as to why. When I showed up to take my computer back since my computer was not even 2 years old and there was no way it could be anything more than what it was said to eb the problem I went and bought a new computer just because I didn't want to pay this rude company any money. After speaking to several computer professionals I was told I made the right decision because there is no way my computer could have the problem this establishment claimed it had. Big waste of time and thankfully for me I just paid the $30 non service fee. Oh and when I asked about why I didn't receive the call I was promised within 12 hours I was told "well, why would you need a call?" Because I'm a student and a professional my computer is my life and my livelihood I don't need to waste time with it just sitting in your shop because you didn't think it was important to call. Also, once they figure out you're not buying into their scam expect for the boss to hide in the backroom the entire time you're in there and having some random man take care of you and have no idea where you or your computer is which makes the already annoying process, worse. read more

I read the couple of reviews on here and decided to give Aldi a call since Computerland is very close to where I live. I am completely useless when it comes to setting up virus protection but usually I can remove viruses pretty easily with whatever system I might have installed... but this time it was BAD. I took it to Aldi late in the evening and he told me that if it wasnt too bad I could actually pick it up that same night if I had time (WOW!) Otherwise I could pick it up the next morning (just as much WOW!). He called me that night and said that it was pretty bad so it would have to wait until the morning, which I had no problem with. When I picked up my computer this morning he said to me "I removed all the viruses and the fan also needed some cleaning so I fixed it for you". I was truly AMAZED that he went the extra mile (AND didn't charge me extra), the fan was too noisy and sometimes would wake me up in the middle of the night, I have taken my computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy TWICE and they never even attempted to figure out what that noise was, AND THEY HAD MY COMPUTER FOR A WEEK AT A TIME!....TO REMOVE VIRUSES! I really appreciate having Computerland at such a convenient distance from my home and knowing that Aldi is someone I can trust my computer with. I will Definitely recommend COMPUTERLAND to all my friends and acquaintances and if I ever have another problem with my computer I will definitely be calling him back! Thanks! read more

I have never seen such professional people: efficient, honest, and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend them. they did a job of recovering my data from a hard drive. Nothing was missing, and they called me twice to keep me informed of their work. if you have computer problems, do not hesitate to go and see them. read more

Fixed my computer quickly and reasonably. Needed to flash ROM and reset after RTC battery change.

Broke my screen on a 2 yr old HP 17" laptop. Took it to Geek Squad inside Best Buy & was quoted $400-500. They could not give me an exact price in that they had to send it out for repair. After researching repair costs for this I new what a rip off that was going to be ( screen repair should be under $200) & left with my laptop. I googled Laptop repair & came across Chicagoland & after reading good reviews took a chance & drove up to Lincoln Park. Walked in, was informed they had the screen available & it would be $165 due to a larger screen size. Asked how long it would take & was told 1 hour. Left & grabbed a bite to eat while waiting. Exactly 1 hour later they called & said it was done. Looked good as new. Very polite, honest & great service. Hopefully won't need this repair again but if I do would def. go back. read more

Fair prices, fast service, friendly staff. This is my second visit there. My first visit was a MacBook Pro 1 TB SSD upgrade. Second job was replacement glass screen on my iPhone. read more

First of all, I have to say thank you to all the staff at Computer Land for repaired my every broken laptop. Now all of them are working like brand new laptops. After my few visits there, my faith in humanity has been stored. I had my three laptops fixed here. The first laptop's screen went total blank. I thought repair price would be higher since this place is located near downtown but hopefully the price was reasonable . I picked up my laptop the very next day. It was super fast. Then again I went there with two laptops. One of my laptop's screen was cracked and the other one's hard disk and fan were totally burned out so I thought it would be really expensive to have those things replaced but they gave me returning customer discount and they even formatted my laptop free. The staff is really fun people. They are always happy to help you. I am more than satisfied with the service. Also I am happy to say the quality of repair is really good. read more

I am very satisfied with this shop! I went in because of a fan problem, they were really honest! they called a couple of days later to tell me that it didn't need replacement just a good cleaning! quick update on ComputerLand: in my review before, i said that Aldi (owner/operator of ComputerLand) offered installation of Microsoft Office via his installer CD, but there was a slight miscommunication on my part - he knows of a safe, free and equally useful program similar to Microsoft Office that you can just download on the internet, as i said, for free. he does not offer Microsoft Office installation. ok, that's it! i just felt like i should clear that up so i dont mislead anyone. Aldi's still the best computer guy in Chicago though! read more

I brought my MacBook Pro for Stephen and his team to resolve; they shown their best effort to provide solutions to retrieve my data despite the file vault encryption. The team maintained consistent communication in providing feedback throughout the time. Overall, thumbs up. read more

This place is amazing! I dropped my computer, malfunctioning and full of viruses, off on Friday night. It was ready by Saturday morning. Less than half the price that Best Buy would have charged me, and MUCH better service! They removed all the bugs, installed an antivirus program for free, installed Microsoft Office (for free and without me even asking!), and cleaned my computer (also for free and without me even asking). They are friendly, helpful, and totally worth it. read more

I just had my 2nd experience with this company, and on this occasion the problem was far more complex. I had purchased a new iphone and discovered that I couldn't install it on my laptop because several viruses infected it, preventing installation of windows updates. I typically diagnose and do my own repairs, but after days of zero success, I brought it in. The technicians had to fix it in stages, but they kept me posted at each phase. They swept out the viruses, then proceeded to rebuild the update files - well over a hundred. I will update this review when I've put the laptop through its paces, but at present it appears to be working fine. CONCLUSION: some of their technicians are difficult to understand because English may be their second language. But the bottom line is that these guys know their way around computers and are not lazy - they work hard at fixing problems and aren't afraid to research the problem. They have my trust and my loyalty. read more

This review is long overdue, but I seriously owe this place my life. I went to Lapin Systems, Inc. (on Larrabee) when my 2011 Macbook Pro harddrive CRASHED in the midst of writing my thesis. After doing a misleadingly promising data scan to see what was left on my harddrive, these so called "Mac Experts" were only able to retrieve 1/3 of my data... NOT including my thesis. I was crushed. Being in the medical field, I thought to myself, "LOL that sucks... but I want a 2nd opinion." Enter: ComputerLand LLC. Professional, friendly, and TRUE experts in the field... they were able to retrieve ALL my data, and at a fraction of the price! From the start, the technicians were honest, straightforward, and there with me for every step of the way. ComputerLand will not charge you a ridiculous amount for a dismal prognosis/botched procedure (unlike the cold, calculating Lapin). Also, the technician who handled my laptop was thoughtful enough to share some basic things "not to do" to prevent this from happening again in the future. If you have a Mac, don't even bother with Lapin... come straight here. Tip: They will call you when the service is done. They do not rush anything, but with good reason. read more

Got a virus last night. Brought my laptop to Computerland this morning. Took it home (seemingly lost documents intact) this afternoon. They also helped me to install a back-up external drive and transfer my files to it. Reasonable set fee of $90. read more

Called in during the week to explain my problem- had a computer key pop off that was very difficult to put back on (for me anyway). Person on the phone told me everything to bring and said I could walk in any time for them to look at it. Was able to go during the weekend and the guy remembered talking to me on the phone earlier in the week. He took one look at it and knew exactly how to fix it. Within 5 minutes it was done & for no charge. I would come back again if I needed service done on my computer. read more

Went in because I cracked the LCD on my laptop. Received a diagnosis which resulted in me basically needing a new LCD. Within an hour of leaving my laptop in their care, I received a call from Aldi letting me know that my laptop LCD was replaced and ready for pick-up. Great, quick service provided for my HP laptop LCD screen. They were actually able to repair a malfunctioning cable instead of replacing the screen, which cost me much less. After reaching out to a few friends and doing a little online research I found Chicago ComputerLand. I dropped off my Dell laptop to have the display replaced and couldn't be more pleased. All charges were well-explained and I signed off saying that I understood what would happen. I then received an estimate in 48 hours as promised. Then after 3 days, I received a call that everything was repaired and available for pick-up. The screen is replaced and looks great. These are definitely the go-to folks for whatever ails your computer. Both my husband and I have dealt with them on several occasions with complete satisfaction. They get back to you with 24 hours to let you know what work is needed, their charges and approximately how long it will take to repair. They even offer expedited service - although we've never had to take advantage of this offer because they have always been extremely prompt. For example, I took my laptop in for a suspected virus on Tuesday, got a call back within hours telling me it was in fact a virus that had infected 2400 files and it "would take some time to repair." As Christmas was fast approaching, I didn't care when I got it back. On Wednesday late afternoon, I got a call that it was ready to be picked up. Obviously, their definition of "some time" was different than mine. They were open on Christmas Eve, and I picked up my laptop - which is now as speedy as ever. read more

When both my laptops failed and had severe hard ware issues, I went to the reviews to choose this computer store. Best decision! The people here are incredibly professional, clear, and kind. I learned more about how to take care of my laptops and got both of them fixed very quickly. When another issue arose, I knew exactly who to contact. The pricing is more than fair, I feel like I got a bargain and am surprised they didn't charge more. The work was perfectly done, I could not be happier with my experience.
