Just got my nails done. Been here before and been satisfied with previous service. I came in today wanting to get a double moon, I could tell the artist did not want to do it, so I asked for just the single moon. She did not want to do that either. So I just said to give mean french manicure, I wanted my nails squoval or square with rounded edges, which I was informed was square round. This is what I got, plus my cuticle was cut in the process. Went to get a pedicure with my mom and sister and it had to be the worst pedicure I've ever gotten. I mainly get pedicures to remove the dead skin off the bottom of my feet so I asked for the $30 pedicure that included callus removal. The lady did a horrible job she barely scrubbed the bottom of my feet and did not do any callus removal. The nail polish is so streaky that I am going to have to re do them when I get home. My sister and mom on the other hand asked for the basic $25 pedicure and got more done during their service then I did. My sister also overheard their customers talking to the owner about us calling us Mexican for speaking a different language which we are not Mexican and that is extremely racist. When I got up to pay I explained I would only be paying them $20 for my pedicure since I got less than sub par for my service. They didn't even apologize or ask to look at my feet instead they got defensive and had there customers scream at us for even saying anything which is extremely unprofessional. They told me I had to pay $25 for my pedicure and I left beyond angry and frustrated. This has to be the worst customer service I have ever gotten anywhere and I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy! Do your self a favor and steer clear of this place. read more

I just recently started going to this place. After not liking fashion nails, I decided to try this place based on reviews. They recently got new management, and it is way better than before. But kevin does amazing and is very nice. I am not sure of the lady who painted my nails though but she didn't do very good. My nails are painted all right, but I got them done on Saturday. On Monday, one of my nails is already chipped. They are reasonably priced for what you get and one of the most cheap places I've ever been to. But if you get a lot of stuff done it adds up. I am going to show a picture of my nails when I got them done in the chip on my thumb. They take their time on your nails, so go when you have free time. But overall a great place. read more

The ONLY good thing I can say about this place is that Kevin does very good work and my nails have looked great the few times he has done them. HOWEVER, the logistics and service are absolutely horrible. The first time I went with my mom and we did not make an appointment. Guests were taken that arrived after us and we were informed that it was because they had made appointments (which was understandable). We ended up waiting nearly 45 minutes before they started on either of us. We were both finally done nearly two hours later from when we arrived. My nails looked great and I was happy despite the wait but let it go because I failed to make an appointment. My mom's pedicure, on the other hand, was sub-par and she even had to ask the woman doing her nails to remove a large clump of polish on her nail after she was finished and repaint it. With this being said, even though my mom said she would not go back, I was happy with how my nails looked so I decided I would give them a few more chances. From that point on, I always made an appointment (specifically requesting Kevin) in advance. EVERY time I made an appointment, however, my nails were started 45-60+ minutes after my arrival/appointment time (I normally showed up around 10 minutes early just in case they would be able to get me in -wishful thinking ) Even though I made an appointment with Kevin, every single time another nail tech would try to do my nails and each time I emphasized that my appointment was made with Kevin. After becoming fed up with waiting, each time I ended up letting another tech start. This last time (which was the last straw for me) a girl started on my nails and then Kevin finished. The acrylic looked so misshapen that Kevin had to go back and add acrylic to even them out once he finally started working on me. Oh, and also, she dropped a nail tool on the floor and immediately picked it up and continued on my nails, which doesn't send me a great message about the sanitation and cleanliness of tools here. Overall, I know this waiting issue is large because every single time I have gone, there have been at least 5-10 individuals who have also waited an extremely long time but ended up walking out. I understand being extremely busy but what is the point of appointments if I can never get them done within a reasonable time? My time and other customers' time is valuable and it's frustrating to be deceived and waste your time as a result. They allow walk ins and don't inform customers that they probably won't be able to get to them (when it's extremely obvious), I have seen them tell the prices to many customers who were shocked and felt deceived because it was much more than they were expecting (I think they come up with random up charges in their head), and if you needed any more convincing of the unprofessionalism of this business, just read their responses to the negative reviews. My advice to the employees of this business: if you are going to allow customers to make appointments then maybe you should not allow walk-ins and make appointments a requirement for service. I have seen them answer the phone to customers making appointments and they never write down the time or the name or anything. Without any record of this, I'm sure they tell multiple people they can come at the same time which is where this issue stems from. Also, you should be a little more professional and respectful to your customers (especially in your public responses to criticism). Instead of taking it personally and responding immaturely, maybe you should take this into consideration to better your business! Overall, to anyone looking to try Chic Nails, if you value your time and sanity DO NOT go here. The nails may look good (if you get Kevin in my opinion) but it is NOT worth the hassle and waste of time and that is why I will not be returning. read more

I decided to give them a 2nd chance. No third for me. The first time I went in I got a less than stellar pedicure from the oldest lady in the shop. She put the polish on so thick it smudged the next day when I put my tennis shoes on. I went back the next day and felt like it was a bother for her to fix them. I thought I was going to be able to give them a higher rating, but I came back for a complete waste of time. Yesterday I had a manicure and pedicure done. I had Mary and while she was nice enough and gave a decent massage, she is not skilled with the actual service I wanted. I upgraded from the standard pedicure specifically because my feet were not in the greatest shape. I walked out with a mediocre pedicure and still having dead skin on my soles. Then we moved to the manicure, which was a nightmare. She cut my cuticles so far back that I bled on 8/10 fingers and she blamed it on me not having a manicure in a while....I've personally gone YEARS without a manicure and haven't bled when I did get one. It's a matter of attention and care. The paint job is lumpy and there are all kind of spots and bumps on every nail. I still tipped because I was given a service and with COVID I couldn't imagine being in the service industry. I gave a so-so review on their internal feedback program. The owner called and invited me back, which I was pleasantly surprised. I walk in today and it was a complete waste of time. They kept talking about me, not in English and treated me like I was being seeing things. They offered to fix my manicure, but unfortunately, I had a gel manicure and I didn't think the exposed skin on my nail beds could handle the remover. I would not recommend this place. read more

If you look at my review distribution, I don't give many 2-stars. But Chic Nails in the Gravois Bluffs area was NOT good! Two stars is probably a little too generous... What's the first thing that you don't want to see when you sit down for a mani or pedi? Blood, right? Well my tech managed to cut herself before I had a chance to put my feet in the scalding hot water. She kind of giggled, then wiped the blood on the towel she was going to use on my feet! Yes, she eventually got up to put on a bandage and rubber gloves, but that was not the way to make me feel at ease! Even with a minor injury, my technician was rough! And not it a good way. I like a good Swedish Massage or waxing from an eastern European woman, but this chick man-handled my cuticles. The hot stones used (which was odd for a $25 pedicure, btw) were waaaay too hot! Pretty sure that they aren't supposed to sting your legs! And I didn't really like her slapping my calves as hard as she did. Ouch! Not sure why I went ahead with the manicure, but I did. That was my bad. But the water for my hands was also too hot. I normally don't complain about the temperature of the water, but it shouldn't make your eyes water. The whole experience was totally sketch and I only tipped 15% because of it. Normally, I'm just happy to be getting my nails done and even happier if it's cheap. But this might be my tipping point in terms of quality over price. read more

I love having my nails done. I feel more feminine and polished when I have a fresh set on. That being said, I hate the actual act of having to GET them done. Sitting there... all the drilling sounds, cutting, clipping, etc... just ... ugh. I have things to do. These ladies here get the job done. In and out. No messin around. And if one of my nails breaks or I mess up the polish somehow they fix it for free.(Breakage, only once. Polish- a few times because I'm hard on my hands) The only thing I wouldnt do here would be get my eyebrows waxed. Mary greeted me, sat me down and started my manicure. I kept telling her I had apt with Kevin, and I wanted him. She proceeded to do it herself. Everyone was very nice, but the nail tech did not have the attention to detail that I'm used to. Cuticles were not done super well. My gel manicure was unevenly distributed (I asked several times to have the nails painted all the way to the sides instead of just the middle) and bubbly. I've been searching for a good nail salon and had heard Chic Nails was under new management and getting favorable attention. I was a walk-in on Sunday afternoon. I was seated immediately by Kevin. He brought me a bottle of water and began working on my nails. He was friendly, attentive, and he took his time. Sometimes getting your nails done feels as if you are being rushed, but I didn't feel rushed at all. I asked for a full set, and my nails were exactly the shape and length I requested. Kevin also remembered my name and used it in conversation - something that seems so minor, but really is appreciated. Additionally I got an eyebrow arch by Tracy. My brow line is sharp and perfect, and Tracy took the time to massage my temples - such a treat! I recommend Chic Nails without hesitation. I will definitely be back. read more

The lady who started my manicure and "removed my gel nail polish" left most of it on and tried to paint over it. I told them they needed to remove it and they ruined my nails.
