Awful experience.. if I could rate under one star I would. Customer service is lacking and with so many other options to purchase dresses in-store and online, there is no reason to shop somewhere that the staff is incompetent and you are not treated with respect. The person I dealt with was rude and unprofessional. STRONGLY ADVISE that you DO NOT shop here. I purchased a dress for an event at their store, which required tailoring. I didn't have any trouble when I bought the dress, with the exception of the employee almost losing my credit card and telling me I didn't give her my card when it was in full sight on the cash register. When I returned later for tailoring, the person that was "helping me" (the same person that almost lost my credit card) did not listen to my request; she had her own agenda regarding what she would do to alter my dress and then proceeded to tell me that I was "confused, didn't know what I was talking about, taking up too much of her time and in her store too long"; I said "I can't believe this is how you treat your customers"; her response was: "I just sold someone a $1000 dress today". I was originally quoted a price for tailoring that she said the employee who quoted me that "gave me the wrong information"; she was asking 1 1/2 times that price. Obviously, I left without leaving the dress there. After reading the other reviews, it looks like I dodged a bullet. Who knows how they would have butchered my dress and I doubt I would have received it back in time for the event. You are able to find the same type of dresses that are better quality at "Stacees" online. Stacees not only will get you the same dress, but it is half the price of what Chic Boutique charges and fitted to your specific measurements, therefore no need for additional money spent on tailoring... plus, the customer service at Stacees is stellar and accommodating. I ended up finding Stacees afterwards, to purchase a dress for my daughter, and they made sure the dress was perfectly sized and arrived with time to spare. I had the dress I bought at Chic Boutique, altered at "Tailorland" (who I would give 5 stars to!) in Newburgh, NY and they did amazing work! I told them exactly what I wanted and they pinned the dress all in a matter of 5 minutes. They did exactly what I requested with no questions asked for even less than the original (lowest) price. Very pushy when we were looking for a bridesmaids dress. Picked one out, paid $340 for it at the end of may, said it would be here by mid July. Called several times because it was the second week of August and it still hasn't come in, when it finally did they weren't happy with us for calling so much. I don't really care. It was for a September wedding and was initially told the alterations take just days and it'll be okay Good thing we lied to them and said the wedding was for September 1st, because they said the dress wouldn't be ready until August 30th.... All they had to do was take some length off. The staff was rude, and pushy and i promise you, you can find the same dresses online for cheaper The only thing they're good for is to go in and try a dress on and get your size, go home and order it yourself. read more

Had a great experience here! I went with my mother looking for a MOB dress. Dress selection was bigger than we'd seen yet and so size inclusive! We had no problem picking out and trying on as many dresses as we wanted at once. Katie was super helpful and kind. She definitely enhanced our experience. Look im gonna be honest here and this is my experience here, so around like in the summer I was looking for dresses for my quince I fell in LOVE with a purple quince dress it was perfect and I wanted it so me and my mother went to go ask the lady if we could try it on and the lady said "no you can't you have to get an appointment" and I was fine with that I don't have a problem with that I try to be as reasonable as I can but the tone she said it was not my cup of tea. Than my mom asked her on how long it would take and she didn't respond, but than she looked at me and my mom whom we were just wearing a shirt and some jean and i didn't think we looked bad, but the lady had other thoughts she looked my mom up and down and said "you could pay when you have the money" that was very unprofessional if you ask me she had no right not business saying that at all! And me and my mom were stunned so we left look just because I don't dress in gold and diamonds doesn't mean I don't have money, my mom was ready to pay and everything my parents own a business and we're financially good enough to pay for a dress, sorry got sidetracked anyway I did end up finding a new store and got my quince dress that I love way more than the purple dress and I'm excited for my quince soon, I'm not gonna lie I did go back but just to get the last doll for my quince and the lady I don't wanna assume but I knew she remembered my mom and I cause she stared us down as we entered the store, we mad small talk she was still the same rude toned lady but I let it slide I flat waste my time arguing sign someone like her, she than asked me why I didn't get my dress at her store and I just said I found a better dress I wasn't gonna start a commotion. Overall I really think the dresses are pretty, yes, but the unprofessionalism and service I got wasn't worth it, with the comment she made and told us to not touch things specifically after I saw other people touch it before and after us. LOVE this place! The convenience of having such an amazing full service formal dress shop right in the Pok Galleria is so great! The staff is so helpful from the moment you walk in, but they never pressure or overbear...so if you just wanna browse the enormous selection of dresses and accessories that's ok too. They also offer a "NO SAME" dress guarantee; for each special local event, they won't sell an identical dress to another attendee to avoid an embarrassing "who wore it better" moment lolol... When my daughter finally selected a gorgeous gown for prom the staff was there to help with alterations and accessories at a moments notice. The selection of gowns they have is incredible...they have beautiful dresses in EVERY color of the rainbow, all length choices from miniskirt to full train, different silhouette shapes, and overall style, from cocktail to black tie event, they have it all here, and if they don't have it they'll order it for you. My daughter fell in love with a dress that needed alterations and, OH MY GOD, I have never seen anything like it! They MASSACRED my daughter's prom dress to the point that I was ashamed to say that I paid for that! I paid a fortune for that dress and almost cried when I saw what they did. Prom time is here. My 16 year old went in with some ideas but the ladies had her try on all different materials and different styles. Dress after dress, color after color. I felt like she was getting married. It was very emotional and even the ladies were feeling emotional as my daughter tried on dress after dress. I was there today with my daughters and their friend in search for 3 junior prom dresses and even though the store had a beautiful collection the staff and workers were extremely rude and disgusting to their customers.. they told my daughters not to touch certain dresses and kept asking them are you even here to purchase anything.. when I finally stepped in and said that I was there mother and they were looking for junior prom dresses they were still rude and said you shouldn't wear long dresses to junior prom!! At the same time there was another customer there having the same argument about not liking their customer service!! They completely ruined my daughter's experience and lost out on a lot of business because I refused to buy their dresses due to the behavior and rudeness of their staff!! read more

Ordered a Terani dress for my son's wedding March 28, 2021. The sample dress in the store was my size. But I wanted a new one. I paid in full $508 for it to be ordered. I was never called to say the dress arrived, so I called July 15th. I was told the dress was in and they weren't able to call me because they were so busy with prom season....hmmm. I thought proms were in June. When I called she told me not to come in until the end of August for my son's October wedding. Seems weird with things changing all the time due to COVID. I went to see the dress the next day only to find the dress wasn't ordered the ripped and snagged sample dress on a broken hanger was handed to me. However, she claimed it was a new one. When I asked to see the sample dress I was told it was sold without her even going to check for it. Then she said it came from the manufacturer in this condition. So then she offered to order another, she walked over to the computer pressed 3 buttons then said the dress wasn't available anymore. It took 45 minutes in the store to be told I should just put in a dispute with my credit card company. We'll since it was outside of 60 days I couldn't do the dispute. Took another week to get a refund check from the store. NEVER AGAIN. I WILL NEVER SHOP OR RECOMMEND THIS STORE. read more

I bought my 2 daughters their sweet 16 dresses here. The first in 2011 the second in 2015 and both times my experience with Barbara was wonderful. I went this past Saturday to buy a cocktail dress for my Goddaughter at the new and bigger shop and my Goddaughter found the perfect dress. Honest opinion stay away not worth it due to the horrible way they treated our girls. Drove 2 hours in search of 2 prom dresses for my daughter and her friend. The two women that were working their on Sunday 5/22 were horrible to my daughters friend due to the fact that her mother couldn't come even though she had her money to buy a dress. I figured she hadn't realized that we came together and we look very different from one another so I had to tell the lady that I was with her and I would be helping her buy a dress but the second I walked away she had told her maybe you should just come back when your mother can come!! I was horrified but tried to make it a good experience for the girls!! They had chosen a few dresses to try on and while walking to the dressing room carrying only 3 dresses I over heard her telling her only 2 dresses at a time and proceeded to take the other dress and tried to put it away, I had to go and take the dress from her and tell her I will hold it for my daughters friend. I also found it very strange how they didn't do that to any other girl and I saw girls going in with 3-4 dresses at a time!!!! Final straw was when I walked away to get my daughter a smaller size and the other lady asked my daughter are you even going to buy any of these dresses.. she had only tried on 2 so far!!!! While gathering our things an argument broke out at the front desk between another customer and the same Indian lady that had mistreated us due to the fact that alterations weren't done correctly and that they were being rude to her and her daughter as well!! I am very sympathetic to workers in this business especially during prom season but there was no excuse for this!! read more

We went to look for a dress for a sweet 16. Spent hours trying dresses on. Finally picked a dress. $159.00 ok kind of pricey. Well I had a very excited 15 year old so I was only half paying attention. Charged the dress, they wanted me to take the dress from the floor. I said no for this price I want a dress that has no hanging jewels and has not been tried on 1000 times. Laying in bed and I was trying to figure how a dress that was 159 went to $192. So I got up and was looking over the paperwork. They charge a $18.99 shipping fee. The next day I am already annoyed when my daughter tells me the Formal party is now a semi formal and the dress is way to fancy. Go back and they will not cancel the order, they will not give store credit. So now I am stuck with a $200.00 dress that has not even come in yet, won't be in until the 10th of June. Worst store ever! The customer service is horrific and the dresses are cheaply made. Stay away.

I had the worse experience. Myself (the mother of the groom) and the mother of the bride purchased our dresses from Chic Boutique located in the Poughkeepsie Galeria Mall. We both spent approximately $500 each. The alterations done on the gown for the mother of the bride were botch and a week before the wedding the boutique refused to fix them or refund the $80 charged for alterations. The mother of the bride had to spend an additional $100 to have the alterations done some place else. To add insult to injury the owner refused to apologize because she was upset she had to order another dress and rush it 5 days before the wedding. In her words "I spent $60 to have this shipped expressed." How can one be so ignorant as to lose $1000 in business over $60 when in fact it was your botched up alterations that caused this problem. read more

First let me say I am a Mother of a bride, a very overwhelming but happy occasion for any Mom. I live 4 hours from this boutique and could not be more ecstatic about the service, tentativeness and time Barbara and Caitlin have provided to this shop. Every gown imaginable could be found for every body type. My daughter who lives not far from the Poughkeepsie Galleria said to me that I should come down by her and visit this shop as they have everything. She was right. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smile and service. The first time I arrived was a weekend and being Prom season and Wedding season around the corner, the shop was very busy but did not stop the only two woman, Barbara and Caitlin from making contact and their availability to each customer. A feat done with ease, especially dealing with Prom gals, Brides, Bridal party attendants and of course Mother of the Bride clients, who can be quite demanding! The experience put me at ease with the pressure of finding just the right dress. I can not stress how grateful I am to Barbara for all her professionalism, knowledge and opinions on the gowns, alterations and well just everything to help me make choices that will make me feel like the proud Mother of the Bride that I want to be. It was worth the trip and would never go anywhere else again in the future if I need a gown or a beautiful dress. Thank you Barbara and her team for the wonderful service! The best advice I can offer is STAY AWAY from Chic Boutique. We had the worst experience there for my daughter's Senior prom. We had picked her dress out early and had put it on layaway in February. When it came time for prom, we went to have my daughter try the dress on and see if alterations had to be made. The dress they gave us from the back was the same style dress, but they had put a size 2 aside. My daughter is not a size 2. Without even attempting to apologize or explain themselves, they just directed us to find another dress. My daughter was in tears at this point. We started trying on numerous dresses and did eventually find one we liked, but not as much as the original dress. Alterations needed to be made so she was measured. I was assuming at this point that this would be an even exchange, but then they hit me with a bill for another $150. At this point, we paid it because we were both so upset and just wanted to make sure she had a dress for prom. We went back to pick up the dress after the alterations and decided we thought it needed to be brought in just a little bit more. Again she was measured. When we went for pickup the last time, the dress fit and we left with it. Several days before prom, a friend of my daughters was at our house, so my daughter put her dress on to show her friend. The zipper broke as we were helping her to get out of the dress. It was just such a disaster from beginning to end with Chic Boutique. I have heard several other stories similar to ours. Best advice, stay away. read more

I bought a $400 prom dress on April 30. I asked Sonny, the owner if it could be shipped to the Poughkeepsie store. He told me no problem, 2 weeks. I called both stores two weeks after for 2 more weeks until I got an answer that I wasn't getting the dress I ordered because it was ruined when being delivered and they couldn't get me the dress in that size and color. I went back to Nyack 2 more times after that. I was told my daughter could get either grey or pink but not the original blue. Then I was told we down to pink only. the worker stated she would get it 2 day shipping. Went back a third time and got this story that the owner,Sonny wanted to charge me $50 for shipping. I told them I wanted a discount for my inconvenience and that this was not the dress I ordered to begin with. I got $70 back. I told the worker,Jessica that I would Never come back again and I discourage anyone to shop there or the store in Poughkeepsie as Sonny's mother owns that one! The prom is 1 week away and still need it hemmed and steamed.I got the dress JUNE 1st. Over a month. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THE CHIC BOUTIQUE LOCATIONS. They expect you to pay in full for the gown or dress before they do alterations then if the alterations are not done correctly you will be stuck with it. They will not issue a credit to your credit card or refund the money you spent. If they offer you a discount BEWARE, it will never be a discount off the gown you are currently purchasing and having alterations made to BUT it will be offered on the next time you purchase a gown. They scam you and are very rude. Barbara at the Poughkeepsie location does the alterations and most times she does not do it right. SO BE CAREFUL when buying and having alterations done at the Chic Boutique. Read your store receipt and DO NOT sign it. It says WORK DONE ON CUSTOMER'S RISK.That says a lot about the work they do and is a way of them covering their butts. If you have a problem contact the Better Business Bureau, the Office of the Attorney General and post your experience all over the internet to alert others. read more
