There was another patron in there who was ecstatic with the repairs he did to her bracelet. The bracelet appeared to be high end. Being that we live in Beacon, he wanted to support local first. When my husband went in to browse and get some help, Rudy discouraged him from buying a ring...period. He told my husband he should bring me with him to shop for my own ring so he'd know that I'd like it...That trying to do otherwise was wouldn't work out and I'd probably hate it. WHAT?! My husband wanted to surprise me and knows me well enough to know what I'll like, thanks for your help! FYI my husband went to the diamond district and had a custom ring made that I LOVE...hope you didn't want that $8,000 Rudy! I also went in one morning to ask a question and see if I could get a cleaning done. He was short with me and dismissed me saying he couldn't clean my rings because he hadn't turned the machine on yet. Well first off all, you opened your shop on time and then went to get mail, leaving myself and two other customers confused, waiting for your return. Second of all, had you have been there, the machine would have been ready. Third of all, you didn't ask what time frame I was on, I had a few hours and could have came back. Again, hope you didn't want my money, I gave you a second shot since you're right down the street, and you failed...again. MY personal opinion? He see's myself as someone who looks young and won't spend money. Or saw my husband in his construction work clothes and thought the same thing and just didn't want to give us the time of day. Friendly? Not to us!

The shop owner has a gentle disposition and the store has a simple layout. I thought I found a new go to jewelry but I was wrong. The work I had done was sloppy and the customer service leaves much to be desired. I asked to have a link repaired on a necklace and they soldered it and created an unsightly, grey clump of silver that ruined the chain and made it unwearable. I also asked for an estimate on having a ring sized. The ring was sent out and it took weeks to get the estimate and I was charged $27.50 for shipping. This cost was not discussed with me prior. Took it back and after 6 months, I had heard nothing. I finally called because I was afraid they lost it. Turns out they decided they couldn't fix it BUT NEVER TOLD ME. I had to call to get it back. I gave them a small plastic bag of loose parts that I asked them to assess if they were gold. They said they didn't have it FOUR times over several months of me asking. I knew I left it with them but decided not to argue about it because they still had the pocket watches. I also asked them to put me on the list to have a grandmother clock repairs by a guy who did house calls. I asked several time over a YEAR if the guy was coming. After TWO years, have never received a call. Gave up and learned how to fix it myself. After 1.5 years, they call me to pick up the loose parts as if I abandoned them; they ones they said THEY NEVER HAD! I go to pick them up and I'm mad. The sales guy, let's call him Dennis, came over with the parts and started a drippy apology. I didn't want to hear it and said just giver me the bag. He says "relax". For the women reading this, when a man says to "relax", they are being condescending and disrespectful. I told him that in a loud voice. So as I'm leaving he says RELAX again and said you lost my stuff for 1.5 years and held my watch without telling me it couldn't be fixed. If he was a good salesperson, he would have known that I was mad when I brushed off his apology and just given me my stuff and let it go. But no, he decided to act like a petulant 5-year old and try to put me down. He KNEW he was in the wrong but couldn't accept it. What a disappointment. I mentioned this whole thing to a friend who said this same shop lost her engagement ring when she brought it in for repair. THEY LOST HER ENGAGEMENT RING.

My fiancé wanted a simple band with the same engravings as her other ring to match. They told me it was going to take a week and that it was going to be $400.They needed the other ring to make a custom mold for the new ring which was fine. A week goes by and they say its taking longer than expected and the price is going to be $500 ( I understood and told them to follow through ). I come to pickup and the price changed AGAIN to $550 , as pissed as I was I said okay and paid it , to only find out the ring was TOO SMALL AND THE ENGRAVINGS DIDN'T MATCH! It was crunch time since the wedding is in a few days so we bought another wedding band somewhere else and I came to return the ring. They REFUSED to take it back even though they messed up big time. They wouldn't give me my money back and said "we will handle this in court" , I ended up filing a police report and pending a law suit against Aljan Jewelers . It's sad to say they care about $550 more than repeat business and referrals.
