Bang bang shrimp
Arie L.

One of the best patios I've sat at in Indy. Catch this spot on a good weather day and you will not be disappointed. Great bang bang shrimp, could have eaten the entire order myself service was great. Had the real Kona Big Wave glasses to match the cans. We'll be back

I was here years ago and was recently reminded of the restaurant, and decided to come by again. The entrance is not accessible for some patrons, especially during construction, but we managed. After seating we called the staff's attention to dozens of flies at the window, and were told they usually clear the windows of bugs before service. Astonishing to think this is so regular they consider it usual. The bug issue was also noted on the Hamilton county inspection report on 5/12/26 so this is not a short term issue. Decor was Mardi Gras themed, music was Reggae, neither was aligned to the Hawaiian themed menu. The experience was not cohesive. The server was polite and able to answer a menu question. Dinner took a long time to arrive. I ordered the Chirashi, and my scallop sashimi was bad. When the server asked about it, I told them so, and received an apology and free dessert for the table. My guests said their sushi was fine. I won't return unless they start getting glowing reviews from others.

My daughter and I went here with a friend and her three kids Tuesday for lunch. Parking was blehhhh since the construction is blocking off the road. Can't seem to get away from all the construction nowadays everywhere. Couldn't tell if the place was open but apparently it was at 1pm on a Tuesday. We get up the ramp and the place is dead but a server comes out pretty quickly. I see a sign that states its kids eat free on Tuesday. I get told by the server that it only is for dinner (even though there's no mention of that on the sign). I figured, oh well, lunch menus are typically cheaper. It's fine. EXCEPT ITS NOT - it's like $25 is the average lunch option on the paper menu within the menu - the cheapest option would have been a "light green salad" for $16. On the kids menu itself, it ALSO states kids eat free with adult menu purchase of $20+. I ask the server again and she says "this is just what the owners told me." So word of advice to the owners - don't be advertising something and not holding up your end of the bargain. I don't have a "customer is always right" mentality, I have a "keep your word & don't false advertise" mentality. Pros: Food was good. Service was fine. Ambience was nice sans the bugs. Cons: obviously the price. Obviously the false advertising. Bugs were nonstop in our faces and food but we dealt. It was hot out so to be expected. Drinks were served in alcoholic beverage cups for the kiddos which was weird.

We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Many thanks for that. ordered drinks and apps which were fantastic and fast. Ordered entrees, that's where it went a little south. Not sure how big the place is, we only saw 3 other tables, all of whom had been served. Somehow it took nearly an hour for our food to arrive. That put a bad spin on dinner. Food was good, lots of choices. Service was great I know the server has nothing to do with the kitchen. Personally I actually prefer a smaller portion on my Nigiri, maybe larger portions are a midwest thing. If you are getting a California roll get two, you'll devour the first one and wonder where it went. I would recommend placing Sushi orders immediately rather than waiting.

Walked past Chiba tonight (9-29-2026) and a sign in front said "Closed Permanently", which took two years longer than I predicted in my last review.

Blueberry bread pudding

This dining experience was mid. I went in for happy hour and got some basic things. The California roll was just ok, the tofu was one big soggy piece which was kind of weird, and the blueberry bread pudding was so bad that I asked for it to be sent back. Lastly the staff seemed more concerned about conversing among themselves than taking care of the patrons.

Yellowtail roll

So, i'm going to list everything here, some things are not a big deal and other things were a big deal. I just want you to get the idea of my experience. Person seating me wanted to put me outside at a picnic table for my 4:00 reservation. Then when I told her that I didn't want to sit outside because it was muggy, she said that there was an outdoor bar in the back. I asked why I couldn't sit inside and she said other customers would be coming, and to just look around, and if I still didn't want to sit out outside then I could let her know. I nicely told her that I really did not want to sit outside and if I needed to come back another time to sit in the restaurant, I would be happy do that. (Please note: no other customers were in the restaurant the whole time that I was there.). She reluctantly sat me inside in the air conditioning: Seated, I looked at the drink menu which has been placed upside down on the table. The server, who was friendly, said I should have an extra page telling me what beers they had, but then she looked and said you don't have it. I told her what food I wanted a couple of times, correcting her and pointing to it on the menu. She brought me the wrong food. I went ahead and ate it because I was hungry. And then they brought the sushi. Here's where it actually was concerning. There were three rolls on the plate. The yellowtail was actually was gray. I've had food poisoning from sushi before, and I did not want to repeat that experience. It also didn't smell right. They never offered to bring me another roll and I ate some of the other two rolls, but frankly, they didn't taste very good. I asked for soy sauce and it was brought to the table and when I went to put it into the dish, it leaked onto the table. I told one of the men that worked there that the jar of soy sauce was leaking and he just went to another table brought me that soy sauce and took the soy sauce that leaked and put it on that other table. I said you know whoever sits there is going to have a bottle of leaky soy sauce too, so he took it away. I got another shrimp tempura. They were obviously talking about me because someone came and said that they had heard about the soy sauce. (Really?) I was curious if they might take something off the bill for that bad roll, but they didn't. So I had two shrimp tempura and a beer for $71, not including tip. I'm only giving it a two because the shrimp tempura was good and the beer was cold. I'll never return.

The best Sushi!!!

Chiba is fabulous. My friends and I came for lunch today and were treated like queens by the owner. Some of our favorite things were the sake flight, one of the seasonal, specialty roles, the teriyaki salmon, the tempura shrimp. You have to try the salad! The dressing is so fresh and delicious. It is clean, beautiful, and the service is excellent. Some of the best sushi I have ever had. Don't be stopped if you don't like sushi, they have so many things!!! This is an absolute must if you are in Westfield. Just go.

A couple of delicious rolls!

All I can say is "Yum"! Not a bad dish on the menu! Even the miso soup was delicious. My only complaint is the temperature by the windows in the restaurant. Winter is just bad in older homes which is understandable, but it impedes the experience. We froze! Service was great--nothing more, nothing less.

From a table in the back garden. So relaxing.

I'm adding yet another review since it has been so long. We were taking our car to Roush Mazda for service and decided a lunch at Chiba would be a great idea. I have had a rainbow roll other places so that's my choice today. RRR ordered shrimp avocado roll and a yellowtail scallion roll. All the sushi was wonderful. I took a few pieces of tuna off the top and ate it separately, SO melt in your mouth tender! Always 5 stars.

Great place for lunch and dinner! Outside seating as well as indoor. Yummy flavors and a huge variety of eats! Thank you for being in Westfield!

Gyoza - special request: deep fried! Tasted great!

Ask the Community - Chiba

Where are the high top tables located? We are trying to make a reservation for outside but the only options are dining room or high top tables.

There are several buildings on the lot. The high tops are in the intimate bar setting in the back. If the weather is nice and you have a reservation, they should be able to seat you outside! You can always call ahead and ask about your spot.

Why it's connected to Kona?

I don't think it is unless that is something new. They said their first restaurant and still current is in New Orleans.

However there was so much food with the KBbq that we were actually disappointed that we wasted stomach space on the hot bar (eventhough the food was good!). I went there late at night and by looking at the outside there was nothing that really stood out to me, BUT as soon as I stepped in it was a WHOLE vibe! Their tiki bar experience from top to bottom was decked out in tiki figures and every tropical decor you can imagine, it definitely felt like I was walking into a Hawaiian resort. The drinks were so fancy and they came in a fancy glass, tiki mug, or coconut shaped mug which I loved! I ordered the Tambaran Firedancer and I'm so glad I did, it came with a whole fire show and it tasted great. It had the right combination of alcohol and other juices. I also ordered the coconut cream pie and it was good. EDIT: My experience was so great that I came here again the next day and had an even better experience (didn't think they would too off the first one lol) The staff were so friendly and welcoming to me, they really made the night unforgettable! Second night I ordered the Corsair of Umbar and the basket of fries. The fries were amazing and definitely made my list of top five favorite fries!! The drink was good, but I wasn't a fan of the Fernet. Finding a parking space was easy since they have a parking lot, but the parking lot is pretty small.

I came with two friends a weekend ago and the waiter said how they had a new chef and new menu and how great it was! So, we tried the pollo boracho, which was... fine. We wanted to sit in chairs with backs and when they sat us at a table with stools, we asked and they didn't really offer a solution. There were some highbacked chairs in the corner, but the table between them was small and low to the ground... I wish the waiter had just asked us to wait 15 minutes for someone to leave, but that was not an option, apparently. Leaving the old photos from my visit a year ago, including the old lettuce wraps.

Awesome elevated comfort food menu…read more I was scrolling through my pictures from my trip to Indy and I saw a photo of a menu. Upon closer inspection, it hit me that I took the pic because I wanted to explicitly call out its awesomeness in this review. It is chalk full of dishes that sound like they came out of my dreams. Here are a couple noteworthy examples: 5280 PB & J - ok, this one didn't come out of my dreams, because I don't eat pork, but literally, if I discovered this two years ago before I went semi-kosher, I would be all over it. Roast pork loin, pepper bacon, fig & plum jam on a pretzel bun?! Yes, I did just rewrite the menu for you, but it should be shared with the world. Mr. Potato Head and Cheese - I once wrote has there ever been a match made in heaven that beats truffle and French fries? The answer is now yes, truffles and tater tots. This dish also includes grated parmesan and chopped garlic. Every other dish sounds as good as these, but I'm going to have to let you read the menu yourself. We ended up getting 4 Real Kettle Chips. I was not hungry. I had a ginormous omelet for lunch and I was still having problems buttoning my pants. Yet, once I saw these gorgeous kettle chips, I had to try some. And by some I mean I ate way more than my fair share (I wasn't even the person who bought them). They are generously topped with parmesan and at $4 its an absolute steal. Everything else on the menu is between $7 and $10, which is such a great deal for the quality of this food. We ran into the food truck outside Bier Brewery. Since this was the first brewery we stopped at during our Indy Brew Bus tour, I'm confident in saying I was still sober enough to truly appreciate the food. The owner of the bus is super friendly. I could tell he cared about providing great dishes. This continues my theme of reviews where I'm basically commanding everyone to support local! If you run into this food truck, you won't regret ordering a meal.
