We were exploring Coronado when it starting pouring down on us. This cute little French restaurant was like a beacon of light, appearing in front of us like the ultimate sign from the universe. We glanced at the menu and knew this was the perfect place for our last dinner in town. We were impressed from start to finish - the service was great and as a pescatarian I asked if one of my dishes could be prepared without the meat (knowing a lot of French chefs frown upon alterations to dishes) - I was so pleased with my dish that was presented beautifully, and tasted great, too. I will definitely return in the future as we loved every bite!

Chez Loma is one of my favorite spots in Coronado for a date night. It has a quaint, romantic atmosphere paired with friendly, attentive staff makes it a perfect place for a relaxed and intimate evening. The French-themed cuisine is also excellent. I had the French onion soup, which is one of my go-to favorites, and I also tried the Salade De La Maison, which comes with arugula, endive, pickled shallots, dijon vinaigrette, and homemade croutons. Both dishes were amazingly delicious, though not super filling. Stop by for a truly great spot with quality food, ambiance, and a classic French dining experience!!

The best hidden gem in Coronado! We come to Coronado for a few weeks a year, and we hadn't come to Chez Loma until last year for the first time and I'm SO glad I did. This year, we decided to go back and take my family! It is such a cute restaurant, and never too crowded. The service is truly phenomenal. They are super attentive and give white glove service. The food though is the star of the show. The French onion soup is a must. And the chicken is honestly some of the best chicken I've had. I can't wait to come back soon!

Arrived 5 minutes prior to dinner reservation. Was advised to arrive at the exact time of the reservation. A little surprising as the upstairs room we were later directed to was empty. There was no suggestion to visit the bar and wait for a few minutes. The the time came we weren't directed to our table and the bartender reached out on our behalf to notify the front of house. Order was messed up. Delivered the wrong food and then when they realized we had a long wait for the entree and the other entrees were already finished. Staff proceeded to move a table out of the empty dining room while we sat which was noisy and strange as no one else was in the room at this time. Furniture should have been moved either before or after guests were dining. The beef Wellington wasn't the best filet I have had. Overall disappointing. Since my review my reservation was cancelled, which is rather surprising. Photos to prove we were there.

One of best restaurants I have ever been to. Good portions, especially the escargot. The duck was outstanding full of flavor both sweet and savory. Also the duck very tender too. The bone marrow appetizer was heavenly, yum yum! We tried the scalloped potatoes, creamy and tender.

I was finally able to try this place out for a dinner date night with my fiancé and we had the best time. The service truly is impeccable with everyone from the host to the food runners and our servers, we felt everyone genuinely cared for us. Now to the important stuff, the food. You absolutely MUST get the pear and burrata salad as a starter. The French onion soup might be the best we've ever had, and the escargot was yummy. It wasn't as heavy on the parsley as most escargot apps but it was delicious nonetheless. The best entree we ordered was without a doubt the beef Wellington. Cooked to perfection and SO tasty. Then we ended the evening with bread pudding, which was to die for! Oh ya, I almost forgot! We also ordered the lobster Mac and cheese as one of our sides and the lobster portion was very generous and also cooked to perfection.

Everything about Ches Loma was magnificent! This is as close as you can get to dining in someone's house while eating out. It's a cute French chateau turned restaurant and everything about it is absolutely cozy and perfect. Service was impeccable. The host, bartenders, our server and every other staff member were all super attentive, helpful, and made our night there that much more special. The food is also incredible. Everything we got was delicious and made with love. The crab cake was the best I've ever had. The lobster ravioli and chicken milanese were absolutely dreamy. We also loved the baked oysters! Those are a must! Dessert was also very tasty. The bread pudding was my favorite. As the waiter said, it tasted like a warm, soft stick of butter. Can't wait to go back one day! Highly recommend!

Delightful early dinner here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The hostess got us seated in the bar, 'three plus Pug' Our server Art set the scene, started me out with a Banshee Pinot Noir to accompany the Escargot (the reason we came her) We only ordered apps, the grilled Caesar Salad was ok, the Artichoke dish was money, never seen it prepared like that, must try. Euro vibe, felt like the south coast of France. Wish they had more French Reds by the glass.

Best mother daughter trips include lovely French restaurants and this was no exception. Chez Loma was so very chic and elegant. We enjoyed beautiful dishes of food and drank elegant French wine. Our waiter was so attentive and we just had the best time. There was nothing stuffy about Chez Loma. A very approachable French Restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed my tartare and beet salad. Almost licked my salad plate. Lol This restaurant sits on Coronado Island and that alone lent itself to ensuring a special evening. After biking around the island all day we sure enjoyed our relaxing French dinner out.

This is one of those restaurants that I've passed countless times and never been until one day, I finally got to try it. Their steak frites was super delicious! Perfectly cooked.

I think the name was in homage to the orange trees (and buildings to protect them) that were planted along the avenue by the original settlers of Coronado. There was a lovely outdoor patio in front of the entrance. The interior had several tables across from the open kitchen for inside seating. If you don't mind being outside, then dining al fresco is the way to go. A menu of the day was available that featured drinks, salty, sweet, and dessert items. The main menu was several pages long with a few of them dedicated to drinks. For a French bistro, the variety of items was solid. From the list of nine Main Courses, I chose the Creamy Chicken which was a chicken breast coated with cream and mushrooms. French fries and a salad came as sides to the dish. The flavor of the creamed mushroom sauce was good while the fries were ordinary. My concern was the prices as they seemed high, especially for some of the more simple preparations. I noticed that Chef Philippe and all of the staff were fluent in French which was a good sign for the camraderie of the team. The service I received from multiple workers was fine. A happy hour runs from 2:30 to 5:30 daily. I rounded the rating for my dining experience at L'Orangerie up to a four star level because I really liked the ambiance of this new café.

The white wine of the day was Chardonnay and the cocktail of the day was an agave spritz. Our server was kind enough to tell us that the burgers did not come with fries, just in case we felt like the portions weren't sufficient. Our server was quick with our drinks and refills. The food took a bit longer to come out. *Agave Spritz: a fragrant take on a spritz. I actually appreciated how it was not overly carbonated nor sugary. This was a refreshing pairing with all the fried items we ordered. *Pommes Frites: classically crispy and fluffy. Came with a choice of ketchup or aioli. *Croquettes: came with five airy and crispy balls on a pool of mornay sauce. The menu mentioned an aioli, but my order did not come with any. Thankfully, the balls were flavorful themselves. The mornay sauce was on the thicker side and there was some clumpiness, but it added pleasant creaminess. *Burger Parisienne: my preferred burger of the two offered. The bordelaise was done well, and the red wine added a complex sweetness to the burger. The patty was thick and the toppings made the overall flavor similar to an In-N-Out burger. *Burger Americaine: a classic American burger that resembled In-N-Out, but with a thicker patty. Good thing I enjoy both. The vegetables were fresh, but I would have liked a bit more of the special sauce. *Little Gems: a rather acidic and simple dressing. The little gems lettuce was cleaned well and was crispy. The radish offered some crunch and the herbs were fragrant. I would have cut the herbs a bit more though. This was quite a satisfying happy hour experience, although nothing was exceptional besides the croquettes. I would like to return to try their breakfast options, and Saint James does offer some interesting dishes that others do not. The pricing was fair for the quality we received.

Since we had never tried a European-style café before, we thought we'd give it a shot. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. Everything from the food to the ambiance and overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The paninis were unbelievably bland -- they really need some kind of sauce or spread because they had almost no flavor at all. On top of that, the prices were surprisingly high for what we received. The desserts were around $11 each, and they didn't even taste fresh. The bread pudding was so hard we could barely get our fork through it. The only redeeming thing about this place is the location. Otherwise, the tables and floors looked unclean, which made the whole experience even more off-putting. This restaurant really needs to revisit its menu and overall upkeep because, as it stands, it's not a place we'd return to.

He seemed a little busy though which helped in his lack of attention, but overall he was cool. Did a great a job answering our questions. We opted for a lot of different choices. The list is in no particular order but will highlight which was a table fave. - Parker Loaf [$12] need this to be a tad bit bigger to justify the price. It was white wine mixed with something they called "a cousin of absinthe" 4/5 - Wagyu tartare [$31] YUM! TABLE FAVE, wish it came with more bread though, that bone marrow was chef's kiss along with the sauce they paired the dish with 5/5 For the mains, two did the Top Sirloin [$48 each] which was described as 'melt in your mouth goodness' which came w/a square shaped potato & a piece of biggish mushroom. The two others did the Short Rib [$42 each] which was described as 'the demi-glaze makes' & 'it's fall off the bone.' I had the Poisson which was the fresh catch of the day (salmon) [$38] & it was really good! Came with bokchoy which was drenched in a maple sauce. That contradicted the lemony/citrusy sauce the salmon came in. There were greens on top of the salmon to complete the meal. Solid dish! I'd skip the deconstructed creme brulee [$15] as that was nobody's favorite. It left us leaving a "real" creme brulee... Do get the opera cake [$15] tho, that one was a TABLE FAVE! A little outdoor seating, a bar top area, and a comfortable indoor area that is very inviting, were a surprise as I approached the location. The food is elegant, is presented amazing, and tastes great. I started with the Sweet Corn and Piñon Soup. I see why it was voted best soup for two years in a row. The thinly sliced corn bread adds an amazing texture in those bites. I had the Apricot salad (sorry I did not note the name and the menu was updated so it is not in any of the pictures) was fresh, crisp, and refreshing. I finished the evening with a Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with sugared dark cherry was very pleasing. I almost forgot the focaccia bread.. made daily, served warm and soft. A must have. The server had a couple of hiccups with an incorrect food order and totally separate billing issue (which by their reaction I would assume was an off night) but other food delivery staff and bussing staff were timely and professional. I would recommend reservations. I was able to secure a seat (due to showing for dinner around 4 pm or so), but the restaurant filled up nicely and hosted about 4 anniversary's and 1 birthday in my time there. Dress attire seemed casual but there is definitely a more elevated clientele so I would recommend a thoughtful outfit for the experience.

We started with great drinks, practically licked the bowl of the corn soup, fell in love with the fresh focaccia, and had a few tapas and desserts. It was an amazing meal that I would love to have over and over again.
