Date night!!! My boyfriend had never been here and I hadn't been in a long time so tonight was the night. Rhea greeted us with a huge smile and we were seated almost immediately. The atmos is a selling and our server was great. He had a lot of good ideas on the menu and his description of the specials changed my mind on what to order. I had the mushroom pate. A 10 out of 10 in taste and presentation. The pate was perfectly balanced and the grilled bread was simple yet amazing. I also had the hassback potato which was cooked perfectly and came with a truffle mornay sauce. You can tell when a real truffle is used and it's not just some cheap marketing joke. My boyfriend had the hamburger that is sooooo different it is noteworthy. While a little ok the dry side it was bursting with flavor and the Wellington sauce it comes with is so good as to be almost indescribable. Wow. They were kind enough to switch out the French fries for their potato purer and that, too was amazing. So silu. So delicious. Spending time in Coronado and wanted to try Chez Loma. Made a reservation for outside. We were greeted and sat outside. Ordered a bottle of wine. May I say that I think the wines were so over priced. I understand making a profit... I'm certainly not against that. When a simple Cote' D Rhône that I can buy for $14 is $65 .. it's just hard to get past that. The menu.... meh. Not impressed. To say Seafood anywhere on your website is kind of misleading. One Salmon dish ( which is pretty pedestrian) and then the fish of the day which was Black Cod. It was quite good.. but really should have a few choices. How about some oysters? How about Scallops? We did the beet salad and the Tuna Crudo. Nothing was outstanding. Really. Will I return? I doubt it. Too many other places in town with more selection. Never went inside... but saw a small bar with a TV and the music was 80's -90's. How about some French Music? We had the honor of being served by the manager Pedro. Greatl outdoor seating although indoor seating in the converted historic residential home looked nice. Had the beets, onion soup, filet mignon and chicken. All outstanding. The cheese topping on the soup was browned to a puff pastry like texture. Unique but great. Will return but hoping for specials to get more variety. If you get the beets, don't bother paying for the bread service because they come with bread. read more

We were exploring Coronado when it starting pouring down on us. This cute little French restaurant was like a beacon of light, appearing in front of us like the ultimate sign from the universe. We glanced at the menu and knew this was the perfect place for our last dinner in town. We were impressed from start to finish - the service was great and as a pescatarian I asked if one of my dishes could be prepared without the meat (knowing a lot of French chefs frown upon alterations to dishes) - I was so pleased with my dish that was presented beautifully, and tasted great, too. Chez Loma is one of my favorite spots in Coronado for a date night. It has a quaint, romantic atmosphere paired with friendly, attentive staff makes it a perfect place for a relaxed and intimate evening. The French-themed cuisine is also excellent. I had the French onion soup, which is one of my go-to favorites, and I also tried the Salade De La Maison, which comes with arugula, endive, pickled shallots, dijon vinaigrette, and homemade croutons. The best hidden gem in Coronado! We come to Coronado for a few weeks a year, and we hadn't come to Chez Loma until last year for the first time and I'm SO glad I did. This year, we decided to go back and take my family! It is such a cute restaurant, and never too crowded. The service is truly phenomenal. They are super attentive and give white glove service. Arrived 5 minutes prior to dinner reservation. Was advised to arrive at the exact time of the reservation. A little surprising as the upstairs room we were later directed to was empty. There was no suggestion to visit the bar and wait for a few minutes. The the time came we weren't directed to our table and the bartender reached out on our behalf to notify the front of house. Order was messed up. Delivered the wrong food and then when they realized we had a long wait for the entree and the other entrees were already finished. Staff proceeded to move a table out of the empty dining room while we sat which was noisy and strange as no one else was in the room at this time. Furniture should have been moved either before or after guests were dining. The beef Wellington wasn't the best filet I have had. Overall disappointing. I was finally able to try this place out for a dinner date night with my fiancé and we had the best time. The service truly is impeccable with everyone from the host to the food runners and our servers, we felt everyone genuinely cared for us. Now to the important stuff, the food. You absolutely MUST get the pear and burrata salad as a starter. The French onion soup might be the best we've ever had, and the escargot was yummy. It wasn't as heavy on the parsley as most escargot apps but it was delicious nonetheless. The best entree we ordered was without a doubt the beef Wellington. Cooked to perfection and SO tasty. Then we ended the evening with bread pudding, which was to die for! Oh ya, I almost forgot! Everything about Ches Loma was magnificent! This is as close as you can get to dining in someone's house while eating out. It's a cute French chateau turned restaurant and everything about it is absolutely cozy and perfect. Service was impeccable. The host, bartenders, our server and every other staff member were all super attentive, helpful, and made our night there that much more special. The food is also incredible. Everything we got was delicious and made with love. The crab cake was the best I've ever had. The lobster ravioli and chicken milanese were absolutely dreamy. We also loved the baked oysters! Those are a must! Dessert was also very tasty. The bread pudding was my favorite. As the waiter said, it tasted like a warm, soft stick of butter. Can't wait to go back one day! We arrive about 5 minutes before our reservation time. The hostess informs us that she will seat us *at* our reservation time. That's it (so we'll wait on the sidewalk I guess?). So my wife asks if we can sit in the bar. Bartender is nice, quick to adapt to the empty keg, and offers up an amusing story while we wait. Which we do until about 5 minutes after our reservation time. Must be busy, right? No. We're seated in the small upstairs dining area which is empty, except for the waiter. The waiter was a gentleman of a certain age, but obviously new to the trade. Not bad, but the lack of experience and training showed. We order, get the bread and wine and as we're waiting for our meals we are entertained by the staff attempting to wrestle a table out of the dining room and down the very narrow stairs. Despite the odd bump and thump they seem to have managed it without catastrophe. The noise and commotion didn't add to the ambiance. The food comes but it seems that what my mother in law ordered isn't what she got. She ordered the fish entree, not the fish starter. Did we misunderstand the menu? Maybe, so we soldier on. My wife has the beef Wellington, I have the duck frites. The duck is in the rare side of the advertised medium rare and not quite warm, as if it had been put on a cold plate. The Wellington looks good, but turns out to be the end of the filet so is chewy on one end. I've asked for another wine, and the waiter returns without it, but with an apology about mother in law's meal: They got the order wrong and were bringing up the entree (and the wine, after a reminder). This arrived about the time the rest of us finished ours, so we got to watch her eat it. At the conclusion of the evening a young man, perhaps the maître d', comes to offer to take the plates. At this point my wife has had enough and delivers a critique--polite and correct, as detailed above. He says, "thanks for the feedback..." and instead of a simple apology, begins an attempt to mansplain. At this point point I've had enough. This person is trying to debate or correct my wife in front of me. Now I'm angry. I cut him off and send him for the bill. He brought the bill and I paid it without audit or debate, and without a tip. It simply wasn't good enough. At least they were polite as we left. We're local to SD, and this was the third time we've eaten there. Each of the others was "OK". After this we won't be going back. read more

What a fantastic experience! Three of us spontaneously popped in for dinner on a very busy night and lucked into a table in the bar. Rashid could not have taken better care of us! From suggesting a rosè for the gals to creating a bespoke cocktail for the gentleman to the truly delicious dinners we all enjoyed. We ordered the salmon, the fish of the day (black cod) and the Beef Wellington: each was excellent, as were the whipped potatoes and steamed carrot sides. Best mother daughter trips include lovely French restaurants and this was no exception. Chez Loma was so very chic and elegant. We enjoyed beautiful dishes of food and drank elegant French wine. My experience at Chez Loma was honestly disappointing from start to finish. We had a reservation and still stood waiting for about 45 minutes while they ran behind, even more frustrating, a couple who arrived after us (with the same time reservation) was seated first. Once we finally sat down, we weren't acknowledged for another 20 minutes. I can't go long without food or water without feeling shaky and anxious, so that wait felt especially rough. By the time we got water, several of the menu items I had been looking forward to were already unavailable. The restaurant felt understaffed and overcrowded, almost like the kitchen and team were overwhelmed. I did notice one employee trying to keep things afloat, but overall the service felt disorganized. It also seemed like other tables around us were frustrated and not having great experiences either, which added to the sense that things were not running smoothly. Food-wise, the duck with fries was unfortunately the worst dish I've had in a long time. The halibut was okay, but I actually enjoyed the potatoes and sauce more than the fish itself. The salad leaned overly bitter -- decent if you picked around it, but not something I'd order again. The chocolate mouse was the best part. And we did not receive bread or any appetizer before our meal. For a $300 meal, it simply wasn't worth it. The whole evening felt chaotic, and there was little effort to accommodate or make up for the long wait. We were expecting a 4 course meal, so not sure what made this so expensive considering we had 1 drink total. I wouldn't recommend making later reservations here unless you're prepared for delays. While walking by this restaurant and checking out their menu, we met a lovely couple who was having brunch. We talked to them for about 15 minutes and then we decided to stay for brunch ourselves. We ordered the duck confit benedict and harvest salad to share. The food here was really good, as was the service. As a bonus, I made a new friend! The restaurant itself is a really cute house that was converted into a restaurant on the bottom floor. The various rooms of the house were converted to restaurant space. What used to be the garage is now a bar area with 2 tables for indoor dining. Behind the bar is an open space where the majority of the tables are for indoor dining. From the looks of it, this was formerly the living room and a bedroom. A small den is a private dining area with 2 tables. The place is really cute and they used up every room downstairs. We dined on the outdoor patio (formerly the house's front lawn that is cemented and overlaps a portion of the sidewalk). read more

We were pleased to eat here for lunch on a June Sunday. The other French restaurant was not taking walk-ins. We were pleasantly surprised as how spacious the place was with plenty of seating. Coronado is such a nice place, it's one of my favorite spots in San Diego. My PRETTY BLONDE COCKTAIL came and I loved it, taste like Pina colada . The FRENCH ONION SOUP had a very Thick cheese on top of it, and the soup itself was also good. For SAFFRON MUSSELS & FRIES ,the mussels were a decent size, and the fries that came with it were crisp and nicely seasoned. My Husband had STEAK and FRIES, I tasted his Steaks and it was very tender and the Fries were also crisp. I had the CHICKEN MILANESE, I loved the well seasoned breading, the arugula, and the Prosciutto, and the chicken was so good, I felt like I wanted to eat this one on a Bun :) At the end of our dinner we shared the Creme Brûlée and it was delicious, well for me any creme brûlée is delicious 'coz it's my favorite dessert :) The place is very dog Friendly, our Bambam enjoyed a few of my husband's steak and a few of my Chicken. Our server was very nice, excellent service. The location is nice and the restaurant looked like a very Cozy House. It's also near a lot of small shops and it's a walking distance to the Beach and the famous Hotel Del Coronado . Parking is a bit hard to find , especially during dinner time , so expect to make many rounds to find a parking . read more

Took my mom here for Mother's Day brunch. The location is in a nice, quiet neighborhood and very Victorian/historic. It's also great for if you want to enjoy Coronado after you eat! The ambience feels very high end/upper class, so unless you're decked out in all your finest pearls, don't expect to receive 5 star treatment from the staff. Service left much to be desired and the food was just okay, really disappointing. Coming here you're really just paying for the vibes/location. If you're looking for a beachy brunch, I'd recommend Brockton Villa in La Jolla instead! read more

I loved everything about my experience here. Our server Jennifer was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the history of Chez Loma, and I really enjoyed hearing all she had to say. Chez Loma used to be a home that was converted into the amazing restaurant it is just under 50 years ago! A truly beautiful and intimate place. I had the Chez Espresso Martini and the chilaquiles. Both we incredibly good. the martini was frothy but still smooth. The chilaquiles were excellent and beautifully plated. I added the birria to them and can't imagine ever getting it without that. The chips were seasoned and a little thicker than typically chips you see on chilaquiles. Definitely classier so the portion was not large. read more
