We had such a wonderful experience here! I made a reservation for a large group to celebrate our wedding, and despite the rain that day, Monica, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure everything was ready for us. She was incredibly accommodating and made the whole experience feel extra special. She even surprised us with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch! Kelsey was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She provided excellent service, was attentive, friendly, and made sure our whole group was taken care of throughout the evening. We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special day. Thank you so much to Monica, Kelsey, and the whole team for making our wedding celebration so memorable! Highly recommend!
We were staying at the Intercontinental hotel and this restaurant was part of the hotel so we decided to use our credits here for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the view on the outside terrace, it was chilly but they have pretty blankets and mobile heaters so there's no reason to NOT be out there![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside restaurant area is also very nice, with artistic touches and a sea theme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There weren't that many other people the night we stopped by, we didn't even need reservations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service received was excellent. The server was very efficient and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The heater felt great too since it was a little chilly this April evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a cocktail, which was so yum! It had fig liquor so that peaked my interest and i'm so glad I ordered that. My guy got a huge protein plate with lots of veggies and a little too much cous cous (IMO!). He ate all of the meat and he really liked it. I got the pasta and it was ok. Love the artichoke but it was a little dry for my taste. I could tell the pasta was handmade and fresh, I really appreciate that. We had a great evening at Garibaldi. We made reservations for rail seating at sunset. The view was gorgeous. And they had happy hour which means two dollar oysters! Service was fantastic. David was so attentive and friendly. He checked on us the perfect amount of times and refilled my wine glass whenever it was empty. Food was good. We enjoyed raw oysters and the baked oysters. The blue zone salad was really tasty. And the seafood spaghetti was good. My only complaint is that the baked oysters and the spaghetti were not hot. They were just warm. Like room temperature. Other than that, everything was great.
Dinner with a perfect sunset view of the harbor.... Garibaldi feels like a secret but not so secret view of Downtown San Diego. I've never really had trouble setting up a reservation here and as much as I'd like to keep this place a "hidden gem", it really is a place worth sharing as it scratches the very rare itch of rooftop bar/restaurants that San Diego strangely seems to be lacking in. The portions were on the smaller side though I didn't order a full entree/dinner item so perhaps that was why. Cocktails were decent, but not unique like you'd find at a Consortium Holdings restaurant. Our server David was very friendly and took good care of us. Recommended for a late afternoon/early evening date or for a small group of friends!
I've seen this spot from the street several times and was so excited to try it out. David, our server, was incredibly nice & attentive, and gave us the recommendation for our drink -- the Sun Kissed! It was such a delicious variation of a lemon drop & we will definitely come back for it. For $8 at their sunset happy hour, very worth it!!! Loved the truffle butter with their bread app. The oysters al forno were also very good. I had seen previous photos on yelp of some white sauce with fish eggs on top that I thought these would be, and although they were different, I'd get them again. Pasta was good, I'd give it a 7.5/10. Overall, so worth it, especially if you want to save a little money and come at sunset happy hour. The views are beautiful and it's such a unique spot with great service, ambiance & yummy food.
The "new" Garibaldi is a fresh take on Mediterranean, but seems more elevated compared to other "Med" restaurants in SD. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio deck offers beautiful views of The Midway, Harbor and sunset.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was attentive and he gave helpful recommendations for navigating the menu. The dishes we ordered seemed very different than your typical Mediterranean of hummus and kabobs. The plating was well thought out and I could tell the chef was experienced in using unique ingredients. We loved the whipped feta, lamb lollipops, and Iberico Pork with hen of the woods mushrooms, so interesting and cooked perfectly. Garibaldi has one of the best wine menus, featuring organic wines from Coastal Regions around the Med. Their cocktail program is interesting with spirits like Moroccan Mahia which was like a nutty, spiced gin in the "Figment in Thyme" cocktail. I will definitely be back to try some other dishes and different wines.
This is a great restaurant. The lamb was so tender and rich and paired perfectly with the red wine I had chosen. The dessert was fantastic. Our server was very attentive as well. You check in just past the normal boat check in for the main restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then the host took you through a little hallway to get to the outdoor seating which had a perfect view of the harbor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a Hugo Spritz which I enjoyed. For appetizers, I should have asked for clarification on the menu because I did not realize the Pissaladière had anchovies, which I absolutely hated. Unfortunately even when I removed them, the entire flatbread still tasted strongly of the flavor. However, the Swordfish entree was amazing! It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was fantastic. Overall, I'd come back but likely just for drinks.
I just found out this place exists! My husband took me here as we were in the area. We arrived right when they opened at 4:30 on a thursday. We got really lucky it was a beautiful sunny day and they had us on the table tops overlooking the ocean. Our server, Abraham, was so kind, knowledgeable, and cheerful. He really added to our experience. He even walked us through the side Garden which is where they saw some of their garnishes and other herbs and vegetables. We ordered a variety of appetizers, I am still dreaming of their cheese plate. This is literally one of the best cheese plates I've ever had in my whole life! They also have well crafted cocktails. Overall this place is the full package, these, food, service! This is a great spot for date night or if you're visiting and want to get some classic San Diego views.
Came here for happy hour on a chill Thursday night in San Diego! This place gives speakeasy vibes, it's kind of in the cut. The entrance to the area to get into Garibaldi is actually located across from the front desk of the hotel. You just have to know where they're at! Very chill vibe, not too loud and the music was very low. It gives underwater theme! I loved the raw oysters more than the baked oysters - I'm usually a chargrilled girl and woah. What's an experience. Do I .. like ... raw oysters ?? lovely ! I enjoyed my little cocktail, and I wish I knew the name. If I was to come here again, I would do the apps and just drinks again!
A special shout out to our server Justin... you're the best!!! He was so patient and attentive to our group. We were a group of 17 and he was able to get our orders and deliver. Our view is gorgeous, Food is great! Quality! We'll surely come back.

Visiting from Houston for a girls weekend and started here for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great location, view is wonderful, hostess staff was welcoming and our waitperson was very attentive, friendly and helpful with suggestions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had fresh oysters and hummus as appetizers - both were wonderful. Dinner choices included prawns, lamb chops and pasta. For the base restaurant they advertise as, we found the entrees to be just above mediocre. No flavor or zest. The pasta was al dente, but without flavor - even the added chicken was on the dry side. The lamb chops had some seasoning and were tender. Would not make this a repeat. read more

Me and my girls were so excited to have a night out and made reservations daysss in advance for outdoor seating. We got notified day of that there is no outdoor seating and when we got to the restaurant, we were told if we wanted to sit outside we would have to wait. The host was honestly rude and not accommodating when it was their lack of preparation and coordination. We had to wait another 25 minutes when we arrived at the restaurant to be seated. After being seated, our waitress and the customers and service were severely slow. There was only 1 waitress for a whole section of the restaurant, so she was getting pulled left and right. (Not her fault) Food took about 25ish minutes to arrive once ordering and the food was alright as we got the hummus, risotto, and tomato bread. For the price that was listed on the menu and the expectation of an upscale restaurant? It was disappointing. Poor management and coordination when it comes to customer service and the staff ratio for a Friday night was sad. read more

My partner and I made a reservation for 7:00PM. We arrived 10 minutes early and were seated automatically. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We opted for the outdoor seating, which allowed a gorgeous view of the sunset with lights and heaters.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] David was our server, and he was incredibly professional and attentive. He provided us with recommendations and constantly checked in on us. We ordered the burrata pomodori, funghi sfinscione, Sardinian culurgiones, and bucatini allo zafferano. Everything we ate was delicious! The dishes were also easily shareable. We highly recommend Garibaldi for a special occasion or romantic dinner -- delicious food, beautiful scenery, and amazing service! read more

Garibaldi, attached to the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown San Diego, is quite the spot! It's apparently their speakeasy, and let me tell you, finding the entrance is a whole thing - you need some lady in front of a yellow Vespa to get in, lol. But once you're there, it's got one of the best views of the bay. If you're with a small party, I seriously recommend grabbing a seat at the rail; you can even reserve that specific spot via Resy. I happened to arrive during their happy hour, which runs between 5 PM and sunset - pretty generous! I was definitely drawn to the happy hour menu, which, unfortunately, kept me from diving into the dinner menu, but I'll need to go back for that soon. I ordered the jalapeño margarita, which was divine, and for eight bucks a pop, it was a great deal. I also got the Arancini, these fried meatballs that were really good and surprisingly filling. I also grabbed some oysters for two dollars each, not bad at all, as well as the Grandma Pie, which is their Sicilian-style pizza. Think of it like a more bougie version of Little Caesars Detroit style, thick pizza. Overall, the happy hour pricing was decent, and the food was okay. I expected a bit more, honestly. However, I didn't get to try their pastas, which I hear are awesome, so I'm going to give this place somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars for now. Will definitely come back to try those pastas! Oh, and shout out to Anna who was amazing though she was a vegetarian and couldn't really recommend any of the meat dishes. I tried her recommendation of grandma's pie and it was good! read more

I happened to find this speakeasy gem while looking on Google for a an outdoor dining spot. This speakeasy is located in the Intercontinental Hotel and views are spectacular! Happy Hour (until Sunset): Garibaldi Oysters - OMG the smoked trout caviar takes this to the next level. Unbelievably delicious. Tartare di Tonno - This dish was fresh & spicy! Calamari Fritto Misto - Nice crisp on the calamari and green beans. Torta Gattopardo - This was surprisingly light and flavorful. Amati Frizz - I loved this refreshing drink so much that I ordered two! Free validated parking for 3 hours if you spend at least 50 dollars. They will be remodeling this restaurant to incorporate Turkish cuisine into their menu! I'm excited to see the new decor when they're done. Can't wait to come back to experience this. Customer service was great and good came out quick. Definitely a must do in the summer. read more

We went on a rainy night and so we weren't able to sit out on the balcony unfortunately. The restaurant was cozy and quiet though. I was extremely disappointed by the burrata pomodori starter as it was simple a ball of burrata with FULL tomatoes just sitting around it. They should have cooked the tomatoes a little, or even warmed them to soften them up, maybe sprinkled some salt atop them!! We even had to order another starter of focaccia just to have some bread to go with it.... Not impressed by the presentation. The drinks were strong, very well made in my opinion. The rest of the food was not mind blowing but still tasteful. Not worth the price in my opinion. Would not be on my list of recommended restaurants in downtown SD but I'm glad I tried. Went here on a Friday evening for a friends birthday. We were a big group of 9. I guess this is a speakeasy bar/ restaurant? They brought us through the halls where the walls were decorated with intricate paintings of the Garibaldi Fish with our seating very intimate for our party. From the beginning through the end of our dinner our server did an exceptional job at tending to our needs. He also offered to take pictures of us out on the patio, and for that this place deserves a 5/5. Along with the service, all the food tasted amazing. I ordered the Malloredus Pasta and just for $7 you can add a steak. I throughly enjoyed my meal. I also ordered a whiskey sour just to go with my meal. They also have a bar outdoors that overlooks the bay front. My friend ordered the music sheet bread and it had so many divine flavors which I think everyone should try as an app. Overall amazing restaurant and this place would be very good for dates or just an intimate night out. read more

Sometimes mistakes are legendary. We made reservations for the rooftop restaurant and booked here. I am so grateful for the lack of erasures. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not only was it brilliant... the view was better...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the food extremely amazing (spent time researching how to make this and that) and our server David (maybe Dave) was exceedingly wonderful! He recommended the whipped feta and Oh My God! Was it terrific! It could serve well enough as a night bite. Then the salad! The salad! If it's not meat... keep it away from my plate. We split it and fought to the death for the last Leaf. Perfect cheese...apples... a vinaigrette dressing... but it was the smoked grapes that added the google search...if you haven't... you will thank me when you do! Cried a little bit over the cheesecake... it made me finally feel loved and accepted... this place is a destination and should not be missed. You can then go upstairs and toast the town...you myst stop here first! read more

We had an amazing birthday dinner here. We had initially reserved outside seats but it was too cold and cloudy so we decided to move inside with window view which was fantastic. Our server David was very considerate and helped us have a pleasant dining experience. They were very attentive despite another private event. They answered our questions and gave suggestions for our preferences (we are vegetarian and they had a good range of vegetarian options). The food was delicious. Their focaccia crustini is a must try! The entire staff is very friendly. Would like to try this again for future events. read more
I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment! My girlfriend and I went here after a fun concert during the afternoon for a romantic dinner, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and felt like it was fresh off the boat with her Spaghetti Ai Ricci Nare. My Malloreddus was perfectly made as well, and although I rarely get a bolognese, this was an exception for good reason! Our server David was absolutely amazing, providing the nicest and quality service while also taking our photo voluntarily at the city skyline outside on the patio even after they closed! It shows Garibaldi goes above and beyond to provide quality service; when we go back to San Diego, we will for sure be coming back here! read more

Dare I say Garibaldi is the best happy hour spot in all of San Diego. This speakeasy restaurant is so special and from the happy hour experience alone, one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego. I really want to go back there to indulge in the friendly service and delicious food and drinks. We had trouble locating the restaurant because there wasn't anything from the reviews we read that mentioned this is a speakeasy restaurant behind/inside another restaurant. Thanks to the nice men at the reception, they pointed out that we can locate it by the orange Vespa at the front of this other listed restaurant. A hostess would be out to take us in soon. I believe the manager took care of us and gave us a simple yet informative tour about the restaurant's history and uniqueness, including all arts and theme. It's truly beautiful and one of a kind. We were seated at the outside bar facing the water, it was a great view and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Happy hour menu was very limited but very adequate. I've heard so many good things about these smokey roe oysters ($1.5 each, what a steal) and oh boy I couldn't wait to get my hands on them. The fizzy HH drink was also great deal. There's no beating that. Both were delicious and soooo much value! The calamari and tuna tartare we could do without because lots of dough on the calamari and tuna tartare was kind of bland. Still, I'm glad we tried them because they were a great deal regardless. We hope more people get to explore this gem and get to enjoy it as much as we did! We will be back Garibaldi! read more

Easily made a 5pm reservation on a Saturday. There's no signage on arrival, so keep a lookout for the orange fish that's on their website and a patio with orange furniture. There's also no signage in the elevator, and, unfortunately, I cannot remember if we got off at the 3rd or 4th floor. After asking around, we learned that they consider Garibaldi to be a speakeasy and we were asked to wait at the Vespa in the lobby. From there, someone guided us to the outdoor patio. Our group was the only one there for a period; people are missing out on a nice view and good drinks. I had a creamy espresso martini type drink and the presentation of another drink in a birdcage was quite unique. I only tried the opah meatballs; I think they had ricotta so they were quite light in texture but I missed any fish texture or taste. All the portions were large. read more
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had thanks to the wonderful food, atmosphere, and our server Jeff! Huge shoutout to Jeff for going over the menu and being so attentive and kind. He's a wonderful server and his recommendations were spot on! The drinks were awesome and all so unique. The food was even more unique. I have never tried fish meatballs and they were amazing. The Grandma's pie was also another favorite of mine with crispy prosciutto on top. The lemon tart was like nothing I've ever had before in the best way possible. The views and atmosphere also makes this place like nothing you've experienced before. The views are incredible especially during sunset. It located at downtown SD with beautiful ocean view. We went there for it's sunset happy hour and ordered every dish and drink it provided there, totally worth the money... especially the Oysters, we grabbed last 10, hahaa. The views of the bay were stunning and the vibes were everything-- let's talk food and drinks: Cocktails-- 1. Sofia and Rose comes in a beautiful birdcage served in a fun bathtub looking glass that literally tastes like a rose water old fashioned-- highly recommended for my Instagram foodies and def not for the weak ! 2. Fragola Frappe is super refreshing and reminds me of a strawberry mint mojito-- YUM . 3. Lemon Lychee was my absolute FAV-- such a unique flavor and hits the spot . Perfect for a foodie's palette . 4. Garibaldi Riff-- so flavorful and such eye candy-- like a melon-y tangerin-ey DREAM . Starters-- 1.
