We had such a wonderful experience here! I made a reservation for a large group to celebrate our wedding, and despite the rain that day, Monica, the manager, went above and beyond to make sure everything was ready for us. She was incredibly accommodating and made the whole experience feel extra special. She even surprised us with a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate, which was such a thoughtful touch! Kelsey was our server and she was absolutely amazing. She provided excellent service, was attentive, friendly, and made sure our whole group was taken care of throughout the evening. We couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special day. Thank you so much to Monica, Kelsey, and the whole team for making our wedding celebration so memorable! Highly recommend!

We were staying at the Intercontinental hotel and this restaurant was part of the hotel so we decided to use our credits here for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the view on the outside terrace, it was chilly but they have pretty blankets and mobile heaters so there's no reason to NOT be out there![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside restaurant area is also very nice, with artistic touches and a sea theme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There weren't that many other people the night we stopped by, we didn't even need reservations.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service received was excellent. The server was very efficient and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The heater felt great too since it was a little chilly this April evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a cocktail, which was so yum! It had fig liquor so that peaked my interest and i'm so glad I ordered that. My guy got a huge protein plate with lots of veggies and a little too much cous cous (IMO!). He ate all of the meat and he really liked it. I got the pasta and it was ok. Love the artichoke but it was a little dry for my taste. I could tell the pasta was handmade and fresh, I really appreciate that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The little touches like the blankets, the ornate dishes, the unique drinks - made this visit very enjoyable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was just ok for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]View during the day is even better, its really a great location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Amazing view of the sunset and fantastic service! David was so friendly, and very attentive. Can't wait to come back for our next date night!

We had a great evening at Garibaldi. We made reservations for rail seating at sunset. The view was gorgeous. And they had happy hour which means two dollar oysters! Service was fantastic. David was so attentive and friendly. He checked on us the perfect amount of times and refilled my wine glass whenever it was empty. Food was good. We enjoyed raw oysters and the baked oysters. The blue zone salad was really tasty. And the seafood spaghetti was good. My only complaint is that the baked oysters and the spaghetti were not hot. They were just warm. Like room temperature. Other than that, everything was great.

Dinner with a perfect sunset view of the harbor.... Garibaldi feels like a secret but not so secret view of Downtown San Diego. I've never really had trouble setting up a reservation here and as much as I'd like to keep this place a "hidden gem", it really is a place worth sharing as it scratches the very rare itch of rooftop bar/restaurants that San Diego strangely seems to be lacking in. The portions were on the smaller side though I didn't order a full entree/dinner item so perhaps that was why. Cocktails were decent, but not unique like you'd find at a Consortium Holdings restaurant. Our server David was very friendly and took good care of us. Recommended for a late afternoon/early evening date or for a small group of friends!

Delicious food, drinks, and a view!

I've seen this spot from the street several times and was so excited to try it out. David, our server, was incredibly nice & attentive, and gave us the recommendation for our drink -- the Sun Kissed! It was such a delicious variation of a lemon drop & we will definitely come back for it. For $8 at their sunset happy hour, very worth it!!! Loved the truffle butter with their bread app. The oysters al forno were also very good. I had seen previous photos on yelp of some white sauce with fish eggs on top that I thought these would be, and although they were different, I'd get them again. Pasta was good, I'd give it a 7.5/10. Overall, so worth it, especially if you want to save a little money and come at sunset happy hour. The views are beautiful and it's such a unique spot with great service, ambiance & yummy food.

The "new" Garibaldi is a fresh take on Mediterranean, but seems more elevated compared to other "Med" restaurants in SD. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The patio deck offers beautiful views of The Midway, Harbor and sunset.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was attentive and he gave helpful recommendations for navigating the menu. The dishes we ordered seemed very different than your typical Mediterranean of hummus and kabobs. The plating was well thought out and I could tell the chef was experienced in using unique ingredients. We loved the whipped feta, lamb lollipops, and Iberico Pork with hen of the woods mushrooms, so interesting and cooked perfectly. Garibaldi has one of the best wine menus, featuring organic wines from Coastal Regions around the Med. Their cocktail program is interesting with spirits like Moroccan Mahia which was like a nutty, spiced gin in the "Figment in Thyme" cocktail. I will definitely be back to try some other dishes and different wines.

This is a great restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dining areas are very intimate feeling and elegantly decorated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had the lamb lollipops with the Syrah wine finished with the honey di latte gelato. The lamb was so tender and rich and paired perfectly with the red wine I had chosen. The dessert was fantastic. Our server was very attentive as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This would definitely be a great date spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Heather D.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a great spot to watch the sunset![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I discovered this spot on Instagram, not knowing what to expect. You check in just past the normal boat check in for the main restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then the host took you through a little hallway to get to the outdoor seating which had a perfect view of the harbor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a Hugo Spritz which I enjoyed. For appetizers, I should have asked for clarification on the menu because I did not realize the Pissaladière had anchovies, which I absolutely hated. Unfortunately even when I removed them, the entire flatbread still tasted strongly of the flavor. However, the Swordfish entree was amazing! It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was fantastic. Overall, I'd come back but likely just for drinks.

I just found out this place exists! My husband took me here as we were in the area. We arrived right when they opened at 4:30 on a thursday. We got really lucky it was a beautiful sunny day and they had us on the table tops overlooking the ocean. Our server, Abraham, was so kind, knowledgeable, and cheerful. He really added to our experience. He even walked us through the side Garden which is where they saw some of their garnishes and other herbs and vegetables. We ordered a variety of appetizers, I am still dreaming of their cheese plate. This is literally one of the best cheese plates I've ever had in my whole life! They also have well crafted cocktails. Overall this place is the full package, these, food, service! This is a great spot for date night or if you're visiting and want to get some classic San Diego views.

Came here for happy hour on a chill Thursday night in San Diego! This place gives speakeasy vibes, it's kind of in the cut. The entrance to the area to get into Garibaldi is actually located across from the front desk of the hotel. You just have to know where they're at! Very chill vibe, not too loud and the music was very low. It gives underwater theme! I loved the raw oysters more than the baked oysters - I'm usually a chargrilled girl and woah. What's an experience. Do I .. like ... raw oysters ?? lovely ! I enjoyed my little cocktail, and I wish I knew the name. If I was to come here again, I would do the apps and just drinks again!

A special shout out to our server Justin... you're the best!!! He was so patient and attentive to our group. We were a group of 17 and he was able to get our orders and deliver. Our view is gorgeous, Food is great! Quality! We'll surely come back.

Everything was perfect. My husband and I had a beautiful night. The food was great, the service ( David) was outstanding, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the view unbelievable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Ask the Community - Garibaldi

Do u have to be over 21 to eat here?

No. Anyone can visit. Good place to eat

Can we bring a little one in a stroller?

The restaurant is usually not very crowded, it is bright and cheerful. The food served is definitely not for kids. Your experience will be somewhere in between.

Does your staff (servers and cooks/chefs) still wear masks?

    Yes

Can I bring two teenagers around 5pm on Sunday?

    Yes, of course.

    Do you offer happy hour?

Only late night happy hour 8pm-close

If I want to sit on the patio but along the glass wall which reservation do I book? Cocktails and bites or outdoor dining?

Book your table for outdoor dining, but then request rail seating

Is this place closed? I have made reservations for Valentine's Day but see here they say they're closed? Why would I be able to make a reservation then?

Hi Amanda, Garibaldi is currently closed due to State restrictions on indoor and outdoor dining, although we are certainly hopeful these restrictions are lifted in the 2-3 weeks. We are accepting reservations at this time for Valentines Day, as…

How do you get in contact with this business?! The phone goes to voicemail, which they don't return, and they don't respond to email either. I need help with my reservation to see about adding one more person...at a loss

Hi, Updates to reservations can be made through Resy where the original reservations were made, and there is a chat feature there that our team can respond to quickly. You can also email info@catchgaribaldi.com for updates to reservations as well.

Will they be opening for just drinks on Friday, June 12?

Hi Clairsse, We will be open on Friday June 12th and drinks only on out outside terrace works perfectly. See you then

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

If you're not a regular, be careful, because apparently all it takes is one drunk friend of the staff making up a story to get you kicked out. While visiting San Diego with friends, we came here after hearing so many great things. There was a short wait, which was fine. The four of us were seated at a small standing table, also fine. Behind us were two guys drinking at the standing bar. One of them bumped into my friend and then stroked her arm while apologizing. She was visibly uncomfortable, so I told her to switch places with me. The guy immediately said, "We're gay, so you don't have to worry," then turned to his friend and said, "Now he looks so stupid and embarrassing." I told him, "I don't think it's embarrassing to make sure your friends are comfortable," then turned back around. I didn't argue with him, insult him, or continue the conversation. I thought that was the end of it. A few minutes later, the manager came over and told us we had made comments that made other patrons uncomfortable and asked us to leave. We had already paid for our drinks and were still waiting for them. My friend followed the manager to ask what was going on, and I joined shortly after. The person complaining was, of course, the same guy who had bumped into her. He was clearly drunk and started rambling about how we had made homophobic comments toward him and his friend. This was especially ridiculous considering the friend I switched places with was there with her girlfriend. We calmly explained exactly what happened. The manager did not care. There was no real attempt to hear our side, ask questions, or figure out what actually happened. The decision had clearly already been made. While we were speaking to the manager, the guy who complained was cheerfully talking with one of the bartenders, receiving a to-go meal, and greeting them cheek to cheek. He very obviously appeared to know the staff. So that seems to be how things work here: a drunk regular or friend of the staff can make up whatever story he wants, and management will throw out an entire group of paying customers without even pretending to investigate. They refunded the drinks, which was the bare minimum. The ambience was nice, but that means absolutely nothing when the staff handles customers this poorly. Awful management, blatant favoritism, and easily the worst service I have ever experienced. I would never come back, and I would strongly warn anyone who isn't already friends with the staff to stay away.

My party ordered a whiskey flight, the sojiros sprotini, the trash panda, and the ube cocktail. All had very unique flavors. Will be returning to try more drinks on the menu! I highly recommend reservations, especially on Friday evenings and weekends. I tried walking-in on a Friday night and was turned away because of how busy it was. Also - do not try to open the door yourself manually... My party was berated for doing so, oops.

This one is long overdue--not that they need my review, because by now everyone already knows how amazing this place is. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great music, an energetic vibe, outstanding service, and some of the most creative cocktails you'll find anywhere. Tonight was girls' night out, so we decided to order the prettier, and sweeter cocktails. But don't let the sweet flavors fool you--they are definitely generous with the alcohol. These drinks may taste dangerously easy to sip, but they pack a punch! I don't even remember the names of the cocktails we ordered, but honestly, that doesn't matter because the menu changes so often. And that's one of the things I love most about Music Bar. Every visit brings something new, fresh, and exciting to try. Both of my drinks were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. I honestly don't know how the bartenders come up with these combinations, but kudos to the team for constantly pushing their creativity while still making every cocktail incredibly well balanced. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, Music Bar never disappoints. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new creations they come up with next. Cheers to one of my favorite cocktail spots in San Diego!

Speakers and vinyls line the walls. Vibes are more elevated here than at your usual bar. I ordered the Nickel Fortune, which came out with a fun tarot card. It was a savory drink with a nice lingering of sesame oil after each sip. Seating is pretty limited inside, so reservations are recommended. CMB's website states that "cocktail attire is celebrated."

Items such as scrupulously prepared meatballs, fried polenta, spaghetti with mushroom sauce, etc., from the prior next-door, connected purveyor "Soda and Swine"...but those days are done ...I digress. And where is Soda and Swine's Yelp page? I know I did a review, but now the page appears gone completely in search? Nah, it's just hidden, presumably to accommodate Fortunate Sons, which opened about a year ago after re-construction of both establishments. I'm too lazy to see if still owned by Consortium Group. I did search my reviews and found my updated Soda & Swine review dated 8 & 10 years ago. O_o !! Now, food is still served, however, there's a new name in town called "Fortunate Son" (next door, connected). Apparently, food now served is Asian-inspired. I've not visited recently to taste. The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. Definitely make a reservation in advance through OpenTable because they fill up pretty quickly. There is also a deposit required, which you can lose if you no-show or cancel within 24 hours, but the deposit is refunded once you arrive for your reservation. When you arrive, a hostess greets you at the entrance. There's a small waiting area where you can sit until they come get you. Then there's a door where you press a button, and it opens to bring you into the restaurant/bar. Inside, there's a mix of tables and bar seating, and they serve food in addition to having an extensive cocktail menu. The drink menu was definitely the highlight for me. There were so many creative and unique cocktails that really stood out. I'm usually not a huge cocktail person because I don't like overly sweet drinks, and it can be surprisingly difficult to find cocktails that are both original and sophisticated enough to actually sip and enjoy. They definitely nailed that here. I tried several: *Kasato Maru: This was so smooth and absolutely delicious. By far my favorite. You could really pick up the St. Germain elderflower and pear, and the flavors worked beautifully together. Definitely one of my favorites. *Sunomono: This was more liquor-forward, but still incredibly smooth. Definitely a good choice if you want something that lets the spirits shine. *Je Ju: Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. It had a really unusual flavor that just didn't work with my palate, and my friend wasn't a fan either. I'm usually not one to send a drink back, but the staff was fantastic about it. They happily took it back and made me a completely different cocktail. *Softly Spoken: My friend ordered this one, and it came in a glass filled with small ice cubes. I tried it and thought it was really good, but it wasn't quite my personal preference. It definitely had more of a fruity flavor profile. The food looked absolutely amazing although we didn't eat here this time. There are still so many cocktails on the menu that I want to try so I'll definitely need to come back. The atmosphere is dimly lit, intimate, and full of character. It has that cool, moody feel that makes you want to sit back, sip a cocktail, and stay awhile. And the service was phenomenal from start to finish. Overall, this was such a fun experience. Great atmosphere, creative cocktails, excellent service, and plenty more on the menu I still want to try. I can't wait to come back!
