We wanted Italian food and didn't expect authentic Italian with waiters speaking Italian. Decore restaurant has limited indoor, outdoor, and bar area seating, reservations are recommended. The decor felt upscale because of the plush chairs, marble designed corian, paintings, and lighting. Decore had an extensive menu of Italian wine. We chose a medium bodied red wine bottle to go with our mix of dishes. We had focaccia bread with olive oil & rosemary, carpaccio, casarecce all' oxtail, fettuccine bolognese, rigatoni alla boscaiola, and beef lasagna. All of the dishes were spectacular and we felt that we were treated out to a piece of Italy. For dessert, we topped off the evening with cheesecake, tiramisu, and cannoli. Our water and wine never went dry and out waiter checked up on us every 5-10 minutes. The quality of service and food we received was perfect for the price paid.
Finally got a chance to try them out. Did take out one evening. The arancini were delicious. Filled with cheese and sauce I couldn't stop eating them! Get extra! Side dish of broccolini and tomatoes was so simple yet so favorable. Did the rigatoni pasta which had sausage and pink sauce. Besides wanting more sauce that I could dip my focaccia in, the pasta was very satisfying. Comfort food for me. Service was great (did take out, but very friendly during process) The place is small yet doesn't feel small. Beautifully decorated. I'll be back.
Finally had the opportunity to check out Decore and it didn't disappoint. Inside the space is elegant and welcoming with a sort of art deco vibe. Their velvet covered seats were comfortable for enjoying an evening of delicious food and drink. They have an excellent wine beer menu as well as cocktails (low proof). I stuck to beer, a fantastic Belgian Trappist from Westmalle, while my hubby had wine, Tuscan Blend, Ft. Ambra. Service was friendly and engaging, very helpful in explaining their menu, specials etc. We ended up ordering a little too much but it's hard to choose when everything sounds mouthwatering. We started with their complimentary focaccia, followed by Suppli and the beef tartar. Honestly, the focaccia was so good with the tartar we asked for a few more pieces. Additionally we ordered a Pizza Margherita, really good. Their crust had a nice chew with a slight char, excellent tomato sauce as well. From there we leaned into the Caserecce all' Oxtail, wow! Tender beef in a rich tomato sauce. The twisted pasta was the perfect vehicle to enjoy this comforting dish. We finished with the Porchetta e Patate. The potatoes and green sauce were perfect. Unfortunately the porchetta was dry and salty. Our waiter was nice enough to remove it from our bill. Hopefully this was just a fluke. Next time we visit, we will most certainly try again. Decore is a neighborhood gem, so glad to have them only a few blocks from our place. Icing on top, they're probably one of the more affordable Italian options downtown. A must if you're in the area.
This is a gem of find. Small, intimate (and noisy) and practically perfect in every way. We were greeted by the host and seated immediately. There are only about 11 tables and 10 bar seats so it's compact. The decor is very nice and really sets the tone. We order the Brussels and yummmmeeeee. So good and so brightly flavored. But.... Before the app came out a little amuse busche of focaccia and red sauce. A nice bite and very delightful. I had the special -the house lasagne and it was the best I have had since my trips to Italy. Homeade everything. -noodles, sauce, just amazing. The Buccatini was also fabulous. My boyfriend was about ready to lick the plate. A true enjoyable evening and Michael, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to best much care about our diner. Nice. Even the cooks said, "Hi," on the way in and out. A nice touch. Go. Enjoy. Or don't and miss out on one of the true gems in SD.
Beautiful restaurant, fantastic food and amazing service! The menu caught our eye while browsing on internet looking for our next spot to try for our date night. What can I say? We tried way more dishes that we needed to be full but it was just because every dish we ordered was so good that we kept wanting to try more and more. Giorgio explained the menu to us in such a charismatic way that could not get enough. Everything was fresh, tasty and delivered to our table pretty fast too! Nice selection of wine too but if I can make a suggestion let Gianni pick the pairings. He has just the right knowledge and puts all his passion in choosing based on your palate. Great job guys! We'll definitely be back and hope you get busier and busier. Grazie e a presto! I'd suggest making a reservation too...it can get pretty full fast with walk-ins.
Such a nice little bar (I think eight seats) & restaurant. We stopped for an after dinner drink. Classy decor and reasonable prices. Small but perfectly tailored selection of wines and drinks. Cocktails were good. Friendly bartender and staff. We will definitely be back.
Dine here for my bday. I ordered the oxtail pasta and my friend got the Seabass risotto. The food was a bit on the plain side for me. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a complimentary pistachio mousse and that was honestly the highlight. so good. I took my leftover pasta home, added some salt and chili oil, and it tasted way better. Portions were a good size though!
I don't know how I never tried this before!!!! I was definitely missing out. If you're a mushroom lover, do yourself a favor and get the ravioli. Insane flavor, best eaten right when they drop it off to your table. So much flavor but so light at the same time. Calamari is a huge portion & delicious. Porchetta was crisped to perfection, potatoes were seasoned & cooked perfectly. Cacio y pepe was yum, the pasta was cooked a little over al dente and the server let us know that beforehand. Still was delicious! The focaccia they provide was great as well. I was never a tiramisu person until last night. The cream was so light and delicious, the cold soaked biscuit inside was soooo gooooddddd!!!!! Definitely a must try. The cheesecake was nice too but a bit more of a savory dessert. If you get both, put the cream on top of the cheesecake :-) Anyway, I cannot wait to go back and try the oxtail pasta hehe and also another order of that mushroom ravioli.

The drinks were also fantastic, I had the lychee spritz. The flavor was refreshing and sweet! Service: 5/5 our server was fantastic, I wish I caught his name. Very attentive and beverages were quick to hit the table, as well as our apps. The entrees took a bit longer but it was starting to get busier. They presented me with a birthday dessert & sang HBD which was cute. They did have to ask us for the table since another group was waiting but it was done in a friendly way. Ambiance: 4/5 the restaurant is on the smaller side, would highly recommend reservations, which were easy to get on OpenTable. Only one gender neutral bathroom, which caused a bit of a wait. Overall, a great experience with great food. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back!
Absolutely wonderful dinner! Diego was a wonderful server - kind, attentive and helpful. Highly recommend the Mediterraneo Spritz. Delicious main dish of salmon with roasted vegetables. Daily special was a beef lasagna - flavorful and decadent! Overall atmosphere is thoughtfully curated and attractive. Comfortable seating and staff put this into a top tier experience!
I reached out to Decore a year ago to host an event but it didn't work out. Thankfully I was back in town and finally got to come here and experience the food. To start, the staff members are all extremely polite and friendly. Refills water timely, explains the menu thoroughly and checks up on you often. The portion is HUGE so it definitely has value. This was my first time seeing and trying a white Merlot and it was incredible. It went great with the food. The vibe and interior were all on point. Will be coming back again!
My partner and I had dinner at Dècoré last night and enjoyed a relaxed evening sampling a few dishes. Shortly after being seated, we were brought complimentary bread, which was a nice touch. We apparently went through it pretty quickly because the staff kindly brought out a couple more pieces without us even needing to ask. We started with the Panzanella e Burratine, which included burrata, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and croutons. It was fresh and nicely balanced, with the creamy burrata bringing everything together for a great opening dish. Next we tried the Pizza Mantovana topped with guanciale, puréed butternut squash, goat cheese, and mozzarella. While it was well prepared, it ended up being our least favorite dish of the evening. The butternut squash gives the pizza a noticeable sweetness that felt a bit unusual for us. It may appeal to diners who enjoy sweeter flavor combinations, but those looking for a more traditional pizza might want to consider another option. The standout for us was the Lasagna Bolognese, which was a special that evening. It was hearty, rich, and full of flavor with generous layers of pasta, meat sauce, and cheese. A classic comfort dish done very well. Service was outstanding throughout the meal. We were primarily served by Diego, with occasional help from Gio, and both were attentive and welcoming. They shared that they're originally from Sicily, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. We will definitely return, and next time we'll just choose a more traditional pizza.
I had such a great time here. The service is spectacular and they truly make sure you're well taken care of. On this second visit we sat at the bar and still received excellent service. The food was fantastic. I had the spaghetti cacio e pepe and it was so good. I did wish I had a spoon for the sauce, but they completely elevated the experience by bringing out focaccia bread so we could clean our plates. Such a thoughtful touch. The ambiance is great, perfect for a casual date night. They make you feel welcome and provide exactly the level of service you want. We will definitely be back more often.

Wonderful, authentic Roman restaurant in East Village. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego, and I definitely recommend visiting. My husband and I ordered the mushrooms and straccietella, amatriciana, and Spaghettone al Cavolo Nero. Everything was delicious, the produce was super fresh, and the portions were generous. We were both too full for dessert, which was especially great given the affordable price. The service was also impeccable, making this a lovely dining experience. Our server, Georgio, was very attentive and friendly. read more
Food 5/5: the best pasta in SD hands down Hidden gem, street parking, best selection of wine paired with uniquely cooked up pasta Chef's kiss indeed. Not to mention... 5/5 service that you will get there. What better way to end your night with the best customer service there. Just had this wonderful dining experience. Couldn't be happier to have stumbled on this find while visiting SD. Spent some time in PB and looking for last minute dinner spot. We were lucky enough to find rsvp and to boot it was dog friendly. Starters -- The service was excellent super attentive. The food was impeccable super delicious! From the courtesy focaccia to kick off our meal. The beet salad was amazing -- lasagna super tasty authentic baked to perfection and the ravioli oh my!! Topped off with crispy prosciutto what an explosion of flavor! Loved every bite. And of course the basque cheesecake is a must! So glad we stumbled on this place read more
We visited this quaint little restaurant last night for our anniversary dinner and it was lovely. The service was very attentive and friendly with a family kind of feel. So welcoming and warm. We were able to pace our dinner nicely so we could enjoy the experience with some good Italian wine. The wine menu is quite different to what you see elsewhere but in a good way and one of the owners knows a lot about Italian wine and was able to give us some great recommendations. Fresh baked focaccia was offered to start that was complimentary and delicious! We followed with the Caesar salad which was split for us and my husband had the Ox Tail Ragu pasta which he loved and I had the sea bass special with a very generous serving of risotto that was also amazing, but I could not eat it all as I had to save room for our yummy Basque cheesecake dessert. We are looking forward to going back the next time we visit San Diego! Highly recommend if you love authentic Italian food! read more
Sooo I was looking for a great Italian spot to grab takeout for dinner and came across this restaurant. After seeing a third review mentioning they had the best pasta they ever had, I had to try. Could it really be? Maybe it was great pasta but they were starving lol. WELL I come before you to attest this is indeed the best pasta I ever had . I mean orgasmic. This oxtail pasta was made with LOVE. Omg. Great portion, decent amount of oxtail (which is a big deal, being Caribbean I am used to eating oxtail and it's notoriously skimped on at restaurants because it's expensive). The sauce was perfect, pasta was perfect, I literally have no notes! I emoted with every bite. If I was dining in I would demand to personally thank the chef. The rustic bread with spreads yummy as well, I particularly loved the truffle spread--wish I had a bottle of it! The buttered focaccia that the pasta came with were pppperfect for dipping in the pasta sauce. So so delicious. If you're looking for Italian cuisine, this is your spot! read more

Finally got to try out this place. Came here on a double date for dinner, and what a perfect ambiance for it - romantic, quaint, and classy. Started off with their complimentary focaccia, that night it was tomato focaccia 9/10. Our table skipped the appetizers and went straight for the main courses because we couldn't wait. I had the rigatoni with sausage, mushrooms and pink sauce which was amazing 10/10. Had a taste of my bf's dish, their special, a risotto with sea bass... also 10/10. If you're looking for an authentic Italian place in downtown with great food and great service, this is the place. read more
Decore: 8.5/10 Service: 9/10 came here on a work dinner and shared all the dishes, but the server was hilarious, and recommended all the dishes, and wine. Polpette - 8.5/10 the meatball was very fresh, definitely made in house, and the sauce was also very robust and perfect starter. Suppli - 7/10 good, just felt like needed to be cooked a tad longer, the mozzarella cheese barely had a pull. Calamari: 6/10 a little chewy and under fried. Brussels sprouts: 6.5/10 I like that they were fried, however ours were drenched in a lemon vinaigrette which ended up making them soggy and sour. Panzanella e Burrata: 8/10 very fresh salad, and the cheese was either made in house or imported that day Caserecce all' Oxtail: 8/10 the oxtail was tender and the pasta was cooked well, the overall sauce was flavorful and not lacking the peppercorn. Ravioli Tartufo e Funghi: 8.5/10 honestly one of the better truffle ravioli's I've had, it was cooked well, and perfectly balanced without it tasting like an overpowerment of truffle. Lasagna: 7/10 pretty good, just tasted like standard lasagna. Spaghettoni Cacio & Pepe: 8/10 creamy, cheesy, and the pasta was al dente. Affogato: 8/10 always delicious, and their espresso was good. Tiramisu: 8/10 no photo because it went so quick haha - everyone got a bite before a blink, it was delicious. read more

Went in at 6:30 and we had a reservation, but there was only one party there at the time. By the time we left at 8:00, the restaurant was becoming busy. Nice ambience and friendly wait staff! They were very welcoming and talked to us about the wines they offered and why they chose them! The plates and silverware were really cute too. The pasta was al dente and the cacio e pepe was great! Foccacia was a bit salty and some parts were oily, but still tasted good. read more
Pretty cute moden Italian place. I particularly like the gold and green scheme and lounge loft music. The staff was very helpful with recommendations, the restrooms was cool of woodsy/fancy feel to it. Food wise the paste was al dente which is a plus. The oxtail was very unique. The Brussels sprouts were well done with all pieces cooked and seasoned well. read more
Service was great, quick and we were sat right near the kitchen window so I got to see some cooking which was cool I actually really enjoyed the croquette special, the different sauces worked really well with the smooth potato inside and crispy exterior porkbelly was a bit too greasy but it is porkbelly... The potatoes that came with the porkbelly were AMAZING. They were cooked and seasoned so well. The rigatoni had an interesting texture, wasn't sure what it was but it was kind of chewy in an unexpected way?? broccolini was alright but was pretty greasy as well, it wasn't cooked to have much of a bite or a crisp read more

Had a craving for some good Italian food. Fellow yelpers recommended this place. Parking wasn't a problem. But then again we went during the week, at around 5m. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and after checking their reservations list, seated. We opted for still water as opposed to sparkling. Looking at the menu, I so wanted to try the calamari. But unfortunately, didn't think we would be able to finish our entrees (the goal). So the hubby got the rigitoni with sausage and mushrooms. I got the linguine bolognese. Our waiter brought out some focaccia which was so pillowy soft and delicious. The entrees came out really fast! Both were delicious. We ate every drop. Then, we had to try the cheesecake. Another delicious creation. Highly recommend everyone try this restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, waitstaff and food! Wish we had bigger appetites and lived nearby. We would be here every week! We just returned from a trip from Italy where we had some pretty spectacular meals. After our meal today I asked my sister about the lasagna she had ordered (lasagna obsessed, I ordered lasagna four times on our trip -lol) and I asked her is the lasagna better than what we had in Italy and she said "yes!" Yep - I had very high expectations of this restaurant from reading the Yelp reviews, I was not only NOT disappointed, my unrealistic expectations were exceeded. They got it down! Classy, warm setting. Easy street parking. Another reviewer said that the calamari fritti (a typical order for us) was the best he'd ever had - and with that endorsement, I went into the restaurant knowing that would be one thing I would order. Yes, the calamari was that good. Light, perfectly crispy... my boyfriend commented on the wonderful sauce - a spicy Calabrian chile aioli. It was perfect. We also loved the brussels sprouts al Pecorino, seasoned with pecorino cheese, black pepper and lemon juice. Wonderful. My boyfriend generally doesn't like vegetables but I noticed he had seconds and thirds of this delicious appetizer. My mom and I ordered the oxtail pasta (one reviewer said he normally would not get oxtail, but after trying would get it over and over again), and oh my, I loved it. Savory, meaty... the pasta a shape that I was unfamiliar with (similar to a spaghetti, but thicker) was perfectly cooked. (All the pasta is freshly made apparently) I asked if they had a chili olive oil that I had in Italy - Yeah- they have it here too! I added a bit of it to my pasta. Heavenly! I asked my boyfriend at the end of the meal what he rated as his favorite dish. While it was super close, my boyfriend said he may have liked the mushroom ravioli with a crème and truffle sauce as the best dish of the evening. Note, we are suckers for truffle having gone to great lengths to find a place to buy truffles in Italy.... It has a lovely cream sauce...would love to use bread for the extra sauce... The service is perfect. Friendly, charming, kind, knowledgeable. Mind readers. They were booked for the evening (Yes, try to get a reservation!), yet squeezed us in (could we have our meal within an hour and a half?), yet we were not rushed at all. GIORGIO had been the one that had squeezed us in, though they were full, and served us. He was so amazing, helpful, charming, I made sure I got his name because When we come back I wanted to ask that he serve us. Later I realized oh, Giorgio is an owner lol, I should have picked up on that by his comment about our orders that we must have done some reading because we were ordering the most popular dishes lol .... After trying to order most of the recommended dishes in Yelp, we were super, super stuffed! Large refreshing spritzers with fresh herbs (I got the Bordo Piscina with leche and mint; the table's favorite) four appetizers and a main course - and really we should have taken more food home than we did. Yet, when amazing GIORGIO asked us whether we wanted dessert, a question that was met with a groan, and a "sorry we just can't ", he KNEW. He came back to the table not with the check, but with a perfect tiramisu. And 4 spoons. My boyfriend is Italian, it is his favorite dessert, and he loved it. We all did. It was like a feeding frenzy lol. GIORGIO came back a few minutes later and it was gone lol. As I was again reviewing the 5 star reviews to verify I remembered Giorgio's name correctly (I was sure others had raved about him, that's when I learned he was a coowner ) I was also shocked to learn the restaurant is so new. One Yelp reviewer said he has gone many times. And we were there we heard Giorgio greet another customer as if they were beloved regulars .... It seems like the restaurant opened only 4-5 months ago! They got this down! I would come back tomorrow too if I can figure out how to prolong this trip; sadly we live in Los Angeles. Wishing this restaurant all the best. "Decore" means with love in Rome Italian. And everything they do so shows their love and passion for what they do. WE WILL BE BACK! read more

Dare I say the best Italian restaurant I've been to in San Diego?! Not even in Little Italy (a hidden gem downtown), but I genuinely enjoyed everything about our dining experience here and will most certainly be back! It is a small place, so recommendations are recommended. There is a small bar and maybe five tables inside and five tables outside on their small sidewalk patio. The decor is modern and trendy. I loved the gold and turquoise color scheme as well. Service: Our server was fantastic. I asked for recommendations and he described almost everything on the menu in great detail. He was friendly and attentive, but not pushy. In fact, he said that they do not try to rush you and only take one set of reservations for the evening. He even offered to rinse off my son's silicone plate I brought with us when he was finished. Drinks: I ordered a spritz cocktail (Hugo) that was large and hit the spot on a hot, summer day. Food: We started with the fried calamari, which I thought could be the best calamari I have had. It was light, favorable and tender. It wasn't tough or chewy at all! The dipping sauce it came with was also different, but tasty. They offered complimentary foccacia bread, which was good, but I did have to ask for it. For entrees, I ordered the Rigatoni alla boscaiola and my husband got the lasagna. Both were superb! Pasta was perfectly al dente, with the right amount of flavorful sauce, mushrooms and sausage. The lasagna was really delicious as well. After being wow'd so far by the food, I had to try dessert - cannolis. It came with two large cannoli that were really good! Pricing was very reasonable as well. read more
So good!! Loved everything we ordered from here on delivery. It's on the pricier side for Italian in SD but definitely think the quality is worth it. The filet was perfectly cooked and really enjoyed the broccolini that came with it. The amatriciana pasta was delicious - great noodles and tasty sauce, definitely get this. The meatballs were also great. They included bread with the order too, which was a nice touch. Will order again! read more

It was my first time here and I couldn't wait to try it! The place inside is beautiful and small! There is some seating outside. We ordered the filet and the rigatoni with sausage and mushroom. The filet came with potatoes that was undercooked. I felt like my pasta was undercooked also! The calamari was good. I gave four stars cause our waitress was really sweet and amazing! Wish I would have gotten her name! They were having a little wine and food tasting course when we stopped by for dinner so I defiantly want to try to make it to one of their events they host! read more

Great service, delicious pasta and amazing drinks! We started off with polpette and brussel sprouts for appetizers and both were delicous. Especially loved the crispiness of the brussel sprouts. For pasta, we ordered cacio e pepe and rigatoni alla boscaiola with chicken. Both were very creamy and flavorful. The cacio e pepe is served al dente, which i found to be extraaa al dente but still delicious. I find myself thinking about the rigatoni all bosciola which is a sign to go back. They have a nice selection of drinks too, would highly recommend brava guava. read more
DeCore Classic Italian Restaurant in East Village has debuted in the corner suite that housed a longtime cafe before closing in 2018. Two hot chicken businesses then tried their luck without success in that space. The interior has been significantly upgraded with dark green tones to reflect a more upscale ambiance. I sat at the bar in the main dining area while a back room could hold another dozen or so diners. Homemade Italian fare was offered in the form of stuzzichi (appetizers), sides, pasta, greens, meats, and pizza. While I was deciding what to order, a dish of complimentary focaccia was provided. There were three pieces. I ate two of them before saving the last one as a leftover. My dinner choices were the Suppli and the Rigatoni alla Boscaiola. The first was an appetizer consisting of two fried rice croquettes filled with smoked mozzarella and tomato sauce. They were cylindrical in shape instead of a prototypical sphere like arancini. The crust was extra crispy with a gooey interior from the melted cheese. The other item was a pasta entrée made up of tube-shaped noodles sautéed with Italian sausage and mushrooms in pink sauce. The pieces of sausage were small but flavorful. The sauce was okay, however I would have preferred a simple pomodoro. The service from the bartender was polite and prompt. The appetizer arrived from the kitchen fairly quickly. On the other hand, the pasta took a bit longer than expected to be ready. Pricewise, the charges were fair for the amount and quality of food that I tried. My dining experience at DeCore was between a four and five star level. read more

I came to try their Rigatoni alla Boscaiola which is sautéed with Italian sausage and mushrooms in a pink sauce, and here were my highlights! - Complimentary focaccia bread was delicious! Fluffy with generous amount of olive oil, rosemary, and flaky salt - Portions are super generous - Pasta was perfectly al dente - chewy with a nice bite - Sauce was super flavorful where it really was a perfect balance for a pink sauce - Sausage and mushrooms were flavorful - Vibes are super clean, modern but trendy with emerald color decor - Service was friendly and very attentive! My wife suggested this DECORE restaurant for us to try and im glad she insisted because we had a great dinner there. We arrived around 5 p.m. Since we had a Handicap placard, it was easy for us to park in front of their restaurant. The 2 gentlemen by the bar greeted us right away, and we got seated quickly. My wife ordered everything. We had Calamari Fritti , Porchetta Bruschetta , Oxtail Strozzapeti , Porchetta eh Patate , Brava Guava Cocktail , Tiramisu The complimentary bread and our order of Calamari Fritti & Porchetta Bruschetta as our appetizers came out fast, at the first bite of their Calamari I already liked this restaurant, their Calamari was season well and so Crispy, every piece I picked up was so crispy good. Then my wife on her first bite of the Porchetta that was on Toasted bread, her eyes got big, and says that it was the Porchetta she used to eat when she was studying in Italy. So we had 2 Porchetta in our order, but both have a completely different taste and are both delicious, so dont hesitate to order Porchetta from their Appetizer and Porchetta again in their Main course. My Pasta was great, a big portion with a delicious sauce. I don't know about my wife's cocktail but I heard her complimenting the Barista for her drink. We also had Tiramisu, and i never saw my wife before interested in any dessert, she usually tasted them and just gave the rest to me, but with the Tiramisu here she seemed she didn't want to share it with me, that's how good the Tiramisu here. Giovanni and Giorgio, the owners, both very friendly, their Italian accents and talking to each other in Italian give this place an extra feeling of being in Italy. I was stationed there in Naval Base in Italy for 6 years so this is nice to hear the Italian language, Italian hospitality, and good Italian food. read more
