We wanted Italian food and didn't expect authentic Italian with waiters speaking Italian. Decore restaurant has limited indoor, outdoor, and bar area seating, reservations are recommended. The decor felt upscale because of the plush chairs, marble designed corian, paintings, and lighting. Decore had an extensive menu of Italian wine. We chose a medium bodied red wine bottle to go with our mix of dishes. We had focaccia bread with olive oil & rosemary, carpaccio, casarecce all' oxtail, fettuccine bolognese, rigatoni alla boscaiola, and beef lasagna. All of the dishes were spectacular and we felt that we were treated out to a piece of Italy. For dessert, we topped off the evening with cheesecake, tiramisu, and cannoli. Our water and wine never went dry and out waiter checked up on us every 5-10 minutes. The quality of service and food we received was perfect for the price paid.
Finally got a chance to try them out. Did take out one evening. The arancini were delicious. Filled with cheese and sauce I couldn't stop eating them! Get extra! Side dish of broccolini and tomatoes was so simple yet so favorable. Did the rigatoni pasta which had sausage and pink sauce. Besides wanting more sauce that I could dip my focaccia in, the pasta was very satisfying. Comfort food for me. Service was great (did take out, but very friendly during process) The place is small yet doesn't feel small. Beautifully decorated. I'll be back.
Finally had the opportunity to check out Decore and it didn't disappoint. Inside the space is elegant and welcoming with a sort of art deco vibe. Their velvet covered seats were comfortable for enjoying an evening of delicious food and drink. They have an excellent wine beer menu as well as cocktails (low proof). I stuck to beer, a fantastic Belgian Trappist from Westmalle, while my hubby had wine, Tuscan Blend, Ft. Ambra. Service was friendly and engaging, very helpful in explaining their menu, specials etc. We ended up ordering a little too much but it's hard to choose when everything sounds mouthwatering. We started with their complimentary focaccia, followed by Suppli and the beef tartar. Honestly, the focaccia was so good with the tartar we asked for a few more pieces. Additionally we ordered a Pizza Margherita, really good. Their crust had a nice chew with a slight char, excellent tomato sauce as well. From there we leaned into the Caserecce all' Oxtail, wow! Tender beef in a rich tomato sauce. The twisted pasta was the perfect vehicle to enjoy this comforting dish. We finished with the Porchetta e Patate. The potatoes and green sauce were perfect. Unfortunately the porchetta was dry and salty. Our waiter was nice enough to remove it from our bill. Hopefully this was just a fluke. Next time we visit, we will most certainly try again. Decore is a neighborhood gem, so glad to have them only a few blocks from our place. Icing on top, they're probably one of the more affordable Italian options downtown. A must if you're in the area.
This is a gem of find. Small, intimate (and noisy) and practically perfect in every way. We were greeted by the host and seated immediately. There are only about 11 tables and 10 bar seats so it's compact. The decor is very nice and really sets the tone. We order the Brussels and yummmmeeeee. So good and so brightly flavored. But.... Before the app came out a little amuse busche of focaccia and red sauce. A nice bite and very delightful. I had the special -the house lasagne and it was the best I have had since my trips to Italy. Homeade everything. -noodles, sauce, just amazing. The Buccatini was also fabulous. My boyfriend was about ready to lick the plate. A true enjoyable evening and Michael, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to best much care about our diner. Nice. Even the cooks said, "Hi," on the way in and out. A nice touch. Go. Enjoy. Or don't and miss out on one of the true gems in SD.
Beautiful restaurant, fantastic food and amazing service! The menu caught our eye while browsing on internet looking for our next spot to try for our date night. What can I say? We tried way more dishes that we needed to be full but it was just because every dish we ordered was so good that we kept wanting to try more and more. Giorgio explained the menu to us in such a charismatic way that could not get enough. Everything was fresh, tasty and delivered to our table pretty fast too! Nice selection of wine too but if I can make a suggestion let Gianni pick the pairings. He has just the right knowledge and puts all his passion in choosing based on your palate. Great job guys! We'll definitely be back and hope you get busier and busier. Grazie e a presto! I'd suggest making a reservation too...it can get pretty full fast with walk-ins.
Dine here for my bday. I ordered the oxtail pasta and my friend got the Seabass risotto. The food was a bit on the plain side for me. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a complimentary pistachio mousse and that was honestly the highlight. so good. I took my leftover pasta home, added some salt and chili oil, and it tasted way better. Portions were a good size though!
Such a nice little bar (I think eight seats) & restaurant. We stopped for an after dinner drink. Classy decor and reasonable prices. Small but perfectly tailored selection of wines and drinks. Cocktails were good. Friendly bartender and staff. We will definitely be back.
I don't know how I never tried this before!!!! I was definitely missing out. If you're a mushroom lover, do yourself a favor and get the ravioli. Insane flavor, best eaten right when they drop it off to your table. So much flavor but so light at the same time. Calamari is a huge portion & delicious. Porchetta was crisped to perfection, potatoes were seasoned & cooked perfectly. Cacio y pepe was yum, the pasta was cooked a little over al dente and the server let us know that beforehand. Still was delicious! The focaccia they provide was great as well. I was never a tiramisu person until last night. The cream was so light and delicious, the cold soaked biscuit inside was soooo gooooddddd!!!!! Definitely a must try. The cheesecake was nice too but a bit more of a savory dessert. If you get both, put the cream on top of the cheesecake :-) Anyway, I cannot wait to go back and try the oxtail pasta hehe and also another order of that mushroom ravioli.
Food: 5/5 we started with the complimentary foccacia which was delicious and ordered the burrata with prosciutto as an appetizer. I've never seen it presented like this, it was served with croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers, and the burrata was refreshing & had great flavor. Three in our group ordered the rigatoni with pink sauce & crispy porchetta (I think) on top. I had the truffle ravioli & the flavor was delicious! The drinks were also fantastic, I had the lychee spritz. The flavor was refreshing and sweet! Service: 5/5 our server was fantastic, I wish I caught his name. Very attentive and beverages were quick to hit the table, as well as our apps. The entrees took a bit longer but it was starting to get busier. They presented me with a birthday dessert & sang HBD which was cute. They did have to ask us for the table since another group was waiting but it was done in a friendly way. Ambiance: 4/5 the restaurant is on the smaller side, would highly recommend reservations, which were easy to get on OpenTable. Only one gender neutral bathroom, which caused a bit of a wait. Overall, a great experience with great food. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back!
Absolutely wonderful dinner! Diego was a wonderful server - kind, attentive and helpful. Highly recommend the Mediterraneo Spritz. Delicious main dish of salmon with roasted vegetables. Daily special was a beef lasagna - flavorful and decadent! Overall atmosphere is thoughtfully curated and attractive. Comfortable seating and staff put this into a top tier experience!
I reached out to Decore a year ago to host an event but it didn't work out. Thankfully I was back in town and finally got to come here and experience the food. To start, the staff members are all extremely polite and friendly. Refills water timely, explains the menu thoroughly and checks up on you often. The portion is HUGE so it definitely has value. This was my first time seeing and trying a white Merlot and it was incredible. It went great with the food. The vibe and interior were all on point. Will be coming back again!
My partner and I had dinner at Dècoré last night and enjoyed a relaxed evening sampling a few dishes. Shortly after being seated, we were brought complimentary bread, which was a nice touch. We apparently went through it pretty quickly because the staff kindly brought out a couple more pieces without us even needing to ask. We started with the Panzanella e Burratine, which included burrata, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and croutons. It was fresh and nicely balanced, with the creamy burrata bringing everything together for a great opening dish. Next we tried the Pizza Mantovana topped with guanciale, puréed butternut squash, goat cheese, and mozzarella. While it was well prepared, it ended up being our least favorite dish of the evening. The butternut squash gives the pizza a noticeable sweetness that felt a bit unusual for us. It may appeal to diners who enjoy sweeter flavor combinations, but those looking for a more traditional pizza might want to consider another option. The standout for us was the Lasagna Bolognese, which was a special that evening. It was hearty, rich, and full of flavor with generous layers of pasta, meat sauce, and cheese. A classic comfort dish done very well. Service was outstanding throughout the meal. We were primarily served by Diego, with occasional help from Gio, and both were attentive and welcoming. They shared that they're originally from Sicily, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. We will definitely return, and next time we'll just choose a more traditional pizza.
I had such a great time here. The service is spectacular and they truly make sure you're well taken care of. On this second visit we sat at the bar and still received excellent service. The food was fantastic. I had the spaghetti cacio e pepe and it was so good. I did wish I had a spoon for the sauce, but they completely elevated the experience by bringing out focaccia bread so we could clean our plates. Such a thoughtful touch. The ambiance is great, perfect for a casual date night. They make you feel welcome and provide exactly the level of service you want. We will definitely be back more often.

I was looking for an intimate spot to take someone out and stumbled upon a recommendation from reddit, lol! After eating here, I texted a bunch of people to let them know to try it. The restaurant is so cute with green velvet chairs and gold finishings, super chic. Our server was really knowledgeable and kept checking in on us. He was amazing! Our favorite was the Oxtail pasta 12/10 -- al dente, very flavorful and they didn't skimp out on the oxtail and the brussel sprouts -- no notes read more

This place was phenomenal. We wanted some place to celebrate our anniversary and Decore was the right spot. From the friendly staff, ambiance, and amazing food, we already cannot wait to go back. We had 2 huge spritz drinks which already are a bang for your buck at $13. The appetizers were fresh and delicious. I order the special of the day which was rha lasagna and my partner ordered the oxtail, both were incredible. You can taste that the pasta was made fresh. We were so full but decided we needed to go all out and order dessert. The Tiramisu was so good with soft mascarpone cheese. I enjoyed that the ladyfingers were soaked in coffee, as I've had experiences where they're not fully submerged. The white chocolate mousse with pistachio was also delicious! Will 100% return on another special date. read more
What a nice find. Location is great and the ambiance is very welcoming and European. The service was fantastic!! Ordered the meatballs and fettuccine bolognese and some bread. The meatballs were amazing. Very good sauce and moist. The fettuccine was plentiful and the sauce was good but not the best. I feel like it needed a little more acid. The noodles were a little over cooked but tasted good. The bread was great and the truffle butter was wow! I knocked a star for the pasta as I wanted to really enjoy the pasta. read more

I tried this Italian restaurant with my husband on the second week of their opening. It's a little place, but it's so Cute inside, it has a nice vibe and very welcoming staff. We got the menu and there were a lot of great options to choose from. Here are my picks: *CALAMARI *PORCHETTA BRUSCHETTA *OXTAIL STROZZAPRETTI *PORCHETTA and PATATA *BRAVA GUAVA COCKTAIL My BRAVA GUAVA cocktail was amazing, very smooth and refreshing. The complimentary bread was warm and fresh and had good Olive oil. The CALAMARI here is a must get, it's crispy and tasty. With all of the Calamari I've had around, the Calamari here is one of the top ones for me compared to other places. For our main dish my husband got the OXTAIL STROZZAPRETI , it has a great portion size and it was delicious with the Braised Oxtail. Mine was the PORCHETTA and PATATA . I love Pork, so if I see pork on the Menu there's no way I won't order it. So I got 2 yummy Porchettas with a side of Potatoes. The Pork dish I ordered look simple, but when I took a bite of it I felt like I was back in Italy again during my College days, it's exactly like the Porchetta that I used to eat in Italy, but in Italy I eat them with the Panini, but wow I love their Porchetta here. The Crispy Skin and the tender pork are both very tasty, I can taste the good seasonings they used on this Porchetta a lot, as I said it feels like I'm back in Italy again in my College years there. Delicious food with Excellent service from the 2 owners who were present there and doing all the work like managing the Bar and taking and serving the orders. We got the parking exactly in the front of the restaurant, but I do not know if during rush hours their side streets parkings will be packed or not. But for sure there's a Vallet parking somewhere, we just didn't look around much 'coz we got a perfect parking spot. read more

Wonderful new spot I heard via word of mouth in San Diego. The atmosphere is extremely hands on, personable, and great recommendations. Feels like an engaged personal chef experience. As for the food, Al dente - an Italian preference and the right amount of flavor. Got a special desert that is light and the perfect plus one to a filling meal. Coming back with my girlfriends next! read more
It's a new restaurant so getting a table was easy on a Friday night but this place is bound to blow up soon. Excellent service and amazing food. My personal favorite was the oxtail pasta- highly recommend. The prices are super reasonable and it's owned/founded/served by Italians. Real authentic feel and I wish nothing but the greatest success for this establishment. read more
Disclaimer: This review is for a pickup order. The quality *may* differ if eating onsite. I had been eyeing this place for months and was excited to see so many great options on the menu. I don't always have the time to eat at a restaurant so I order take out often and appreciated that was an option here. I ordered the cacio e pepe and the broccolini side dish. The order was ready in 10 minutes, which was just a bit concerning. A little fast for a restaurant during the dinner rush. I was greeted warmly by the staff when I walked in and immediately given my pickup order. The order came with complementary tomato grilled bread, which was a nice touch. The broccolini was very well seasoned and marinated, but a tad undercooked. The cacio e pepe tasted more like béchamel pasta, which I am not a huge fan of. Cacio e pepe has a different flavor with a strong prominence to the fresh black pepper. I would be open to trying this place one more time when I have a chance to eat at the restaurant but I'd likely order something else. The restaurant itself is quite small, meaning it looked quite cramped and was a little noisy even with a few full tables. Just something to keep in mind if you have a preference on space and sound. read more
This is a lovely new restaurant... we stumbled on it a few blocks from our hotel while we were visiting. The interior was serving very a sort of Italian/French bistro vibe... there were not a lot of tables available so we sat at the bar which was a bit weird because the chairs were not high enough for the bar. Aside from that, this little restaurant was very busy on a Thursday night before Independence Day, it seemed like only two people were working service and the bar. We got the braised chicken leg and the Spaghettoni Cacio & Pepe, both of which were fantastic, along with some Calamari and Focaccia to start. Everything was *chef's kiss* delicious. I'd love to stop by again on my next visit to town. Thanks for the pasta and wine. read more
I live next door and have been waiting to try this new spot. Soooooo glad I did. This place is amazing. You can taste the freshness and perfection in the pasta. The salmon was cooked beyond perfect and the cauliflower that came with it was so delicious I can't even explain. Better than any of the Italian spots in little Italy! And the lychee drink is my new favorite! read more

Decore Restaurant surprised me with some tasty food. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt effortlessly stylish yet cozy -- the perfect mix for a date night or catching up with friends. I love the green decor and the ceiling is so beautiful. But let's talk about the food -- WOW. Every dish was full of flavor, beautifully plated, and just plain satisfying. The drinks were on point too, and the staff made everything feel effortless and welcoming.I left feeling like I had just discovered a new favorite spot in San Diego. Pizza was just okay, didn't have much flavor and was pretty soggy, but it was Roman style so that might've affected it. Ciabatta bread was just confusing and the sides it was served with wasn't great either. Service was decent but I'd say for the price and tastes restaurant wasn't worth it. Ambiance was nice however. read more

I'm not sure I can put into words how fabulous this place is. We eat all over town and everything we touched was fantastic. The calamari starter, salad with watermelon, oxtail pasta, wild mushroom ravioli and tiramisu all excellent & made in house. SERVICE exceptional and they have wines by the glass & bottle that are unique and add to the experience. We met a waiter in San Francisco that recommended this place having worked with the owner. 100% agree. Total hidden gem of San Diego read more

Wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Roma Italian dishes without having to catch a flight across the Atlantic. The beef tartare was amazingly delicious and the brussel sprouts were devine. As for the pasta dishes, we opted for the Mushroom truffle ravioli which was our favorite and is a must order! The oxtail strozzapreti melted in your mouth and I had to resist from scraping the plate. I brought my own bottle of wine and was charged a corkage fee of $25 which I find very reasonable. Thanks again for a wonderful dining experience and looking forward to coming back to try everything else on the menu! read more

After speaking with Chef Giorgio about accommodating my wife's garlic sensitivities, along with our Italian friend Chiara, we dined for the first time at Decore last night. She had told us that Decore was not only the most authentic Italian food she has found in San Diego, but the best. It was a truly wonderful dining experience, made all the better when on the wine list I saw an extremely rare Piedmont varietal wine, Ruche. On a trip to Italy in 2021, we had been gifted a bottle of Ruche in Genova by a fellow who made it himself. We finally drank it this year and found it intense, wonderful and different from any other reds we have tried. So seeing it on their menu was truly exciting. Even more exciting was the tasting - absolutely incredible! Do yourself a favor and try Ruche here; you will find it in very few other places in the whole country. The food was every bit as great as hoped for, as was the service. Many thanks to Decore and their whole staff for a truly memorable meal. The food, wine, service, and atmosphere were all above their high value pricing. We will return! read more
