The pizza was delicious and the service impeccable! The wine choices/recommendations were spot on. I will definitely visit again.

My rating is for 4.5 stars. As someone who teaches pasta making classes, this is a high rating for me. I was soooo impressed with this spot. From the staff transported from Italy to the warmth of the space, I loved it all. I have tried most Italian restaurants in San Diego and I am constantly disappointed. This place did not disappoint. I approve and will be back. read more

Decore - Calamari - Italian Near Me - San Diego, California

Sooooooo good. We started with a glass of wine and the espresso cocktail, which was different than your typical espresso martini -- but still good. I highly recommend their happy hour as they have a good amount of options and the prices and portions are great. Everything we had was great, but the rigatoni by far was the standout item. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other options. Service was fantastic. Everyone was genuinely kind and just the right amount of attentiveness. We will be back! read more

Surprising find. The pastas were all cooked to perfection. We tried the rigatoni alla boscaiola served with Italian sausage and mushroom in a pink sauce. My wife and kids like this pasta the best. I found the sauce to be a little more subtle than I'd like but the sausage was fantastic. The other pasta was caserecce all' oxtail which I liked better since the sauce was more bold. The oxtail was braised well and paired well with the tomato sauce. The entree that we tried was the porchetta e patate. It didn't stand out as much as the pastas. The portion was huge. This was porchetta in all its glory, unafraid of the thick layers of fat, almost deep fried in its luscious fat. It had a heavy smell of rosemary and served with large thick sliced potatoes. The calamari fritti was also good but likely nothing that makes it stand out in sea of fried calamari that you've likely be awash in. Really outstanding were the desserts. We had the tiramisu which was among the best that we've had with a delicious mascarpone and coffee base. The basque cheesecake was also delicious, served with a tart blueberry reduction. read more

The food was INCREDIBLE. We got four pasta dishes, and each one was fresh and the noodles were delicious from scratch, and each pasta's flavor was unbelievable. Atmosphere was calm and classy, and service was impeccable. Can't recommend enough. read more

This was our first time coming, and this is going to be our new Italian spot. We ordered the suppli, calamari, pane & burri, lasagne, and rigatoni allá Boscaiola, and we they bring focaccia on the house. Everything tasted high end and homey at the same time. My favorites were the focaccia, suppli, and rigatoni. Big portions, but still elegant. Delicious. Service was great. You feel like you're with friends there. read more

Had such a great time here! We sat at the bar and still ordered off the full menu. The Spritz Classico was very refreshing and the crispy pork bits on the Mantovana pizza was amazing! The staff is really friendly and the inside is pretty cute as well. read more

This was a cute little spot that we at ate before seeing a concert downtown. It is in a good location, very close to the ballpark. They had a relatively simple menu of pizza, pasta, and antipasto. The pastas were good, and cooked very al dente (which isn't my preference, but they were done well). I also ordered a pizza with pork belly. The crust was very thin and crispy (again, done well, but not my preference) and while the pork was cooked all the way through, the fat wasn't very well rendered out. We also ordered a cheese appetizer that was small and not very flavorful. Overall, this is a great spot for a drink at the bar or a nice date night. read more

Food is amazing!!! We got the polpette (meatballs), pizza montavara and caserecci all' oxtail to share and they were all 10/10. The waiter was very accommodating and quick. The vibe in here is one to love, very comfy and elegant. read more

One of the finest dining experiences I've had in ages. This adorable ristorante situated just outside of the gas lamp district offers casual fine dining reminiscent of an experience one would have in Rome. Diego, was our server and was incredible. We started with the Gorgonzola salad. A lovely vinaigrette beset the plentiful mixed greens and coupled with some crispy procutto and Gorgonzola made for the perfect insilata portion of our meal. For primi my partner had the oxtail gemelli of which she graciously offered me a bite. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the oxtail was covered saucy and tender. I had the porcetta which came with a delicious green sauce and rosemary potatoes. Don't skip out on dessert as the tiramisu is amongst the best we've ever had, yes even in Italy. 5/5 and would gladly go again any time. read more

I had dinner at Decore at the tail end of a business trip. I sat at the bar (alone), and within minutes I found myself chatting in Italian (I am Italian, born and raised) with staff and the other guests at the bar. I can be picky about Italian food when it is not authentic: this was the real deal! It was like being in Rome. I had the trippa alla romana, the pasta with coda (oxtail), and a great tiramisu. The portions are generous, so I overordered (and am proud of it!). Great hospitality, great food. If I lived in San Diego I would be back every weekend. read more

This place is a gem! Pasta dishes fresh and good portions to boot. Had the bucatini. Focaccia bread uniquely wonderful. Had the buratta cheese appetizer with tomatoes which was fantastic and once again a nice portion. We had a 50 dollar bottle of wine that was perfectly paired with meal at the suggestion of the waiter. Service was excellent. Do yourself a favor and go. It is small so make reservations or get there early. read more

I came here for a work dinner and was absolutely amazed with the quality and service. Everything was absolutely delicious but my mind was blown with the oxtail pasta and pizza mantovana. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with anything you order. The tartar di manzo, suppli, burrata, and fettuccine bolognese were other crowd favorites. Oh and don't forget to save room for what I think is the best tiramisu I've ever had. I'll definitely come back again!!! read more

I don't write reviews for mediocre anything Exceptionally good deserves praise and exceptionally bad deserves feedback as well and this was an incredible meal. These gentlemen are doing a great job in the Front of house, the back and all around Very well ran establishment...as this little gem in an unlikely location absolutely wowed us from the wine to the desserts we enjoyed it all. My wife had the lasagna special and she's maybe one of the most critical creatures on the planet and she only gave a slight demerit for her feelings that the lasagna noodles were too soft ( they're fresh pasta that's why) but the rest of the plates were licked clean and we were in taste bud bliss all evening I am telling everyone I know to go try this place asap, and I am returning myself on a regular basis. Thank you Giorgio and Giovanni, I was really impressed and happy we had dined with you guys. read more

Wow. This Italian restaurant was AMAZING! From the staff, food, wine, dessert and ambiance..this restaurant was absolutely incredible. Here's what I had.. Cabernet wine (delicious!), beef tartare (best I've had), house bread (complimentary and so delicious), the Bucatini Amatriciana pasta dish (Perfection!) and the tiramisu (absolute delicious!). All the staff and owner were top notch and took care of us. The owner is Italian and keeps with the authenticity of Italian food. Absolutely loved the decor, ambiance and atmosphere inside this lovely restaurant. Gives upscale vibes for sure. The price for everything was so reasonable for what we enjoyed. Definitely visit and see for yourself! I will definitely be a regular here. Enjoy! read more

This is a must visit gem in San Diego. We recently visited Decore in San Diego, and I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We came as a group of six, and every single dish impressed us -- I only wish we could have tried the entire menu! The evening began with the most delicious bread I've ever had -- warm, perfectly textured, and completely addictive. For starters, we shared the meatballs, Suppli (arancini), and Brussels sprouts. While everything was flavorful and beautifully presented, the Suppli and meatballs absolutely stole the show. Rich, comforting, and full of depth -- just phenomenal. For mains, we ordered the Pizza Mantovanna, which had the crispiest, most flavorful crust imaginable, the bolognese (which our daughter devoured), and the Porchetta, bursting with bold, savory flavor. Each dish was crafted with clear attention to detail and passion. We ended with a custard dessert that was simply out of this world -- the perfect finish to a perfect meal. The service was above and beyond- they truly made us feel special and like we were the only ones in a packed restaurant. Decore is a flawless spot for any celebration -- we were there for a special occasion, but I'd come back in a heartbeat just for the food alone. We're from Boston and if we lived closer, we'd be here every week. A true San Diego gem. Don't miss it! read more

Incredible place. Truly top notch dining for Pennie's on the dollar. So few places know how to "pace" a meal anymore but first they brought out the Caesar salad and waited a long while. Then it was the other appetizer: Brie cheese. And finally the pizza. Super friendly hosts. Amazing food. Wish they were closer to where I lived. It's become a regular for us on our "pre-Padres" stops for happy hour. You will NOT be disappointed. read more

Everything it's amazing food and service great owners very welcoming I strongly recommend the tiramisu.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and we have zero regrets! We ordered the lasagna and margarita pizza (after much debate) and both were so perfect! I love how the lasagna wasn't cheesy like most places that pack the cheese on so much you just taste the cheese. Bread was good and they surprised us with a celebratory dessert. Service was great and the staff was very attentive. We will be coming back! One of our new favs and we can not wait to try the other dishes read more

We had the pleasure of attending the soft opening of Decore, and we were truly impressed from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and professional. The service was impeccable, and the kitchen absolutely delivered. The pizza and pasta dishes, in particular, were outstanding. The pizza had a flavor and texture that transported us straight to Rome -- just like it came from an authentic Roman pizza oven. The pasta dishes were equally memorable, crafted with incredible traditional flavors. The salad was memorable as well! Oh, and don't forget the desserts. Outstanding! The location is fantastic -- just blocks away from Petco Park and the Gaslamp District. What's truly remarkable is how quickly this restaurant is evolving, even in its earliest days. It already feels like an established gem, and we have no doubt it will only get better from here. We highly recommend Decore to anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine paired with top-notch service. It's a wonderful new addition to the area, and we look forward to many more visits in the future! My husband and I stopped in for an early dinner at this newly opened Italian restaurant, looking for some authentic Italian, and it did not disappoint. Co-owners Giovanni and Giorgio were very attentive and many items on the menu were tempting - we started with the house made focaccia hot from the oven, and an order of calamari, which was perfectly cooked. With a bottle of nice Barbera di Alba, we had the Spaghettoni Cacio & Pepe, Gorgonzola Salad, Panzanella di Burrata, and a side of Broccolini. It was all delicious, and generous portions, and we were happy to take some of it home in a box for tomorrow's lunch. We have a weakness for cannoli, so ordered two of those for dessert - deliziosi! An after dinner glass of Tamburnin vermouth completed the meal, and we walked home happy! Highly recommend, and we will be back soon! read more

Ever downtown in San Diego on fancy some good Italian food, you're not gonna find a better place. The only problem is, if you order too much, you're gonna have a really hard time stopping eating. That's how good it is. Dangerously good. read more

The gnocchi special tasted like sand. It didn't have much flavor, and the waiter made it seem like it was the best thing on the menu. The "pancetta" bits on top seemed cheap. There was also nobody else in the restaurant. There was a screen in the room that was playing various tourist attractions and it was quite distracting. I didn't understand it. It through me off and it made it hard to enjoy the meal. The waiter was very nice, but I believe he was whispering sweet nothings into our ears. He said everything was going to be incredible with a perfect accent, and it just wasn't. It now has come off as smug. 4.9 stars seemed excessive. read more

The restaurant has a great ambiance, very cozy. The food is really good and the staff is friendly and fun.

We were really looking forward to an authentic Italian meal after seeing all the amazing reviews but unfortunately the food didn't quite live up to the hype. Some of the dishes were underwhelming and not as fresh as we hoped. That said, the waiter was very kind and attentive, and we truly appreciate the hospitality. Hopefully this was just an off night, because we wanted to love this place. read more
