We wanted Italian food and didn't expect authentic Italian with waiters speaking Italian. Decore restaurant has limited indoor, outdoor, and bar area seating, reservations are recommended. The decor felt upscale because of the plush chairs, marble designed corian, paintings, and lighting. Decore had an extensive menu of Italian wine. We chose a medium bodied red wine bottle to go with our mix of dishes. We had focaccia bread with olive oil & rosemary, carpaccio, casarecce all' oxtail, fettuccine bolognese, rigatoni alla boscaiola, and beef lasagna. All of the dishes were spectacular and we felt that we were treated out to a piece of Italy. For dessert, we topped off the evening with cheesecake, tiramisu, and cannoli. Our water and wine never went dry and out waiter checked up on us every 5-10 minutes. The quality of service and food we received was perfect for the price paid.

If you're looking for true, authentic Italian food in San Diego, Decore is an absolute must visit. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, but a few standouts from our meal were the beets, calamari, and swordfish... each dish was packed with flavor and cooked to absolute perfection. Their fresh, handmade pasta is out of this world! To top it off, the staff here are genuinely the kindest, most attentive people you'll meet. Incredible food, warm service, and a wonderful atmosphere. I can't wait to come back!

Finally got a chance to try them out. Did take out one evening. The arancini were delicious. Filled with cheese and sauce I couldn't stop eating them! Get extra! Side dish of broccolini and tomatoes was so simple yet so favorable. Did the rigatoni pasta which had sausage and pink sauce. Besides wanting more sauce that I could dip my focaccia in, the pasta was very satisfying. Comfort food for me. Service was great (did take out, but very friendly during process) The place is small yet doesn't feel small. Beautifully decorated. I'll be back.

Finally had the opportunity to check out Decore and it didn't disappoint. Inside the space is elegant and welcoming with a sort of art deco vibe. Their velvet covered seats were comfortable for enjoying an evening of delicious food and drink. They have an excellent wine beer menu as well as cocktails (low proof). I stuck to beer, a fantastic Belgian Trappist from Westmalle, while my hubby had wine, Tuscan Blend, Ft. Ambra. Service was friendly and engaging, very helpful in explaining their menu, specials etc. We ended up ordering a little too much but it's hard to choose when everything sounds mouthwatering. We started with their complimentary focaccia, followed by Suppli and the beef tartar. Honestly, the focaccia was so good with the tartar we asked for a few more pieces. Additionally we ordered a Pizza Margherita, really good. Their crust had a nice chew with a slight char, excellent tomato sauce as well. From there we leaned into the Caserecce all' Oxtail, wow! Tender beef in a rich tomato sauce. The twisted pasta was the perfect vehicle to enjoy this comforting dish. We finished with the Porchetta e Patate. The potatoes and green sauce were perfect. Unfortunately the porchetta was dry and salty. Our waiter was nice enough to remove it from our bill. Hopefully this was just a fluke. Next time we visit, we will most certainly try again. Decore is a neighborhood gem, so glad to have them only a few blocks from our place. Icing on top, they're probably one of the more affordable Italian options downtown. A must if you're in the area.

This is a gem of find. Small, intimate (and noisy) and practically perfect in every way. We were greeted by the host and seated immediately. There are only about 11 tables and 10 bar seats so it's compact. The decor is very nice and really sets the tone. We order the Brussels and yummmmeeeee. So good and so brightly flavored. But.... Before the app came out a little amuse busche of focaccia and red sauce. A nice bite and very delightful. I had the special -the house lasagne and it was the best I have had since my trips to Italy. Homeade everything. -noodles, sauce, just amazing. The Buccatini was also fabulous. My boyfriend was about ready to lick the plate. A true enjoyable evening and Michael, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to best much care about our diner. Nice. Even the cooks said, "Hi," on the way in and out. A nice touch. Go. Enjoy. Or don't and miss out on one of the true gems in SD.

Dine here for my bday. I ordered the oxtail pasta and my friend got the Seabass risotto. The food was a bit on the plain side for me. Since it was my birthday, they gave me a complimentary pistachio mousse and that was honestly the highlight. so good. I took my leftover pasta home, added some salt and chili oil, and it tasted way better. Portions were a good size though!

Beautiful restaurant, fantastic food and amazing service! The menu caught our eye while browsing on internet looking for our next spot to try for our date night. What can I say? We tried way more dishes that we needed to be full but it was just because every dish we ordered was so good that we kept wanting to try more and more. Giorgio explained the menu to us in such a charismatic way that could not get enough. Everything was fresh, tasty and delivered to our table pretty fast too! Nice selection of wine too but if I can make a suggestion let Gianni pick the pairings. He has just the right knowledge and puts all his passion in choosing based on your palate. Great job guys! We'll definitely be back and hope you get busier and busier. Grazie e a presto! I'd suggest making a reservation too...it can get pretty full fast with walk-ins.

I don't know how I never tried this before!!!! I was definitely missing out. If you're a mushroom lover, do yourself a favor and get the ravioli. Insane flavor, best eaten right when they drop it off to your table. So much flavor but so light at the same time. Calamari is a huge portion & delicious. Porchetta was crisped to perfection, potatoes were seasoned & cooked perfectly. Cacio y pepe was yum, the pasta was cooked a little over al dente and the server let us know that beforehand. Still was delicious! The focaccia they provide was great as well. I was never a tiramisu person until last night. The cream was so light and delicious, the cold soaked biscuit inside was soooo gooooddddd!!!!! Definitely a must try. The cheesecake was nice too but a bit more of a savory dessert. If you get both, put the cream on top of the cheesecake :-) Anyway, I cannot wait to go back and try the oxtail pasta hehe and also another order of that mushroom ravioli.

Such a nice little bar (I think eight seats) & restaurant. We stopped for an after dinner drink. Classy decor and reasonable prices. Small but perfectly tailored selection of wines and drinks. Cocktails were good. Friendly bartender and staff. We will definitely be back.

Food: 5/5 we started with the complimentary foccacia which was delicious and ordered the burrata with prosciutto as an appetizer. I've never seen it presented like this, it was served with croutons, tomatoes, cucumbers, and the burrata was refreshing & had great flavor. Three in our group ordered the rigatoni with pink sauce & crispy porchetta (I think) on top. I had the truffle ravioli & the flavor was delicious! The drinks were also fantastic, I had the lychee spritz. The flavor was refreshing and sweet! Service: 5/5 our server was fantastic, I wish I caught his name. Very attentive and beverages were quick to hit the table, as well as our apps. The entrees took a bit longer but it was starting to get busier. They presented me with a birthday dessert & sang HBD which was cute. They did have to ask us for the table since another group was waiting but it was done in a friendly way. Ambiance: 4/5 the restaurant is on the smaller side, would highly recommend reservations, which were easy to get on OpenTable. Only one gender neutral bathroom, which caused a bit of a wait. Overall, a great experience with great food. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back!

Absolutely wonderful dinner! Diego was a wonderful server - kind, attentive and helpful. Highly recommend the Mediterraneo Spritz. Delicious main dish of salmon with roasted vegetables. Daily special was a beef lasagna - flavorful and decadent! Overall atmosphere is thoughtfully curated and attractive. Comfortable seating and staff put this into a top tier experience!

My partner and I had dinner at Dècoré last night and enjoyed a relaxed evening sampling a few dishes. Shortly after being seated, we were brought complimentary bread, which was a nice touch. We apparently went through it pretty quickly because the staff kindly brought out a couple more pieces without us even needing to ask. We started with the Panzanella e Burratine, which included burrata, tomatoes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and croutons. It was fresh and nicely balanced, with the creamy burrata bringing everything together for a great opening dish. Next we tried the Pizza Mantovana topped with guanciale, puréed butternut squash, goat cheese, and mozzarella. While it was well prepared, it ended up being our least favorite dish of the evening. The butternut squash gives the pizza a noticeable sweetness that felt a bit unusual for us. It may appeal to diners who enjoy sweeter flavor combinations, but those looking for a more traditional pizza might want to consider another option. The standout for us was the Lasagna Bolognese, which was a special that evening. It was hearty, rich, and full of flavor with generous layers of pasta, meat sauce, and cheese. A classic comfort dish done very well. Service was outstanding throughout the meal. We were primarily served by Diego, with occasional help from Gio, and both were attentive and welcoming. They shared that they're originally from Sicily, which added a nice personal touch to the experience. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. We will definitely return, and next time we'll just choose a more traditional pizza.

I reached out to Decore a year ago to host an event but it didn't work out. Thankfully I was back in town and finally got to come here and experience the food. To start, the staff members are all extremely polite and friendly. Refills water timely, explains the menu thoroughly and checks up on you often. The portion is HUGE so it definitely has value. This was my first time seeing and trying a white Merlot and it was incredible. It went great with the food. The vibe and interior were all on point. Will be coming back again!

Decore in downtown San Diego is a delightful find with an inviting atmosphere and impeccable service. I ordered the rigatoni pasta--it was absolutely delicious, perfectly al dente with a rich, flavorful sauce that stood out. On top of that, the customer service was outstanding: attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. If you're in downtown San Diego and craving Italian done right, Decore should be on your list! read more

This relatively new Italian spot was a delight from the charming and attentive server to the delicious food and Mediterranean chic ambiance. We enjoyed the pizza with butternut squash puree as an appetizer (and the leftover piece was amazing for breakfast). Both ravioli and rigatoni were cooked to perfection and the bronzino risotto special was very satisfying. We finished it off with Basque cheesecake and the berry topping was so fresh, I think that they had picked the berries that morning. Pacing of the multiple courses was just right--we felt like we were back Italy. Go to Decore tonight! read more

Fabulous little restaurant. Great vibe, hip but neighborly. Excellent layout (love the bar which is hemispherical but cozy - handbag hooks at each spot ladies!). Good for friend groups or date night. Seems like it is a really cool neighborhood bistro/wine bar. Food is top notch - can't go wrong with any of the choices (oxtail, porchetta, calamari...). I think it offers really good value and quality. Super friendly service - like they are greeting you into their house! Love it! Definitely on my roster of restaurants to eat at when I am in San Diego. read more

Love this cute spot! I used to love Café Chloe from years back. Finally something is replacing it that is a somewhat similar concept to that. Our server was attentive, genuine, & helpful. Great wine by the glass list! Try the white merlot. You won't be disappointed if you like a light-medium bodied white. The meatball appetizer & oxtail pasta was so delicious! Oxtail was so tender & the pasta was al dente...muah! The tiramisu is light & perfectly prepared as well as a good portion (not too much but enough to share). I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

Love love love this place! Have been a few times since they opened & have had great Italian food & service every time! The polpette (meatballs - appetizer) are our favorite starter. The cacio i pepe is chef's kiss! You can't go wrong though with the oxtail or the bolognese. The tiramisu is a great way to finish...light & delicioso! Gio (bartender/owner) always provides such genuine, caring hospitality. Giorgio (also owner) is always amazing as well. Antonio (server) is really great too. Incredible addition to the neighborhood...reminiscent of the beloved Cafe Chloe! Definitely on our rotation of fave regular spots! read more

We live in the neighborhood and finally decided to go here for an early Valentine's Day celebration with my husband. Wow! Every single dish was amazing, and I don't say this lightly. Our server Diego was very professional, attentive and knew the menu and the wines inside and out. The place is decorated very nicely in a relaxed way. My husband called the experience fine dining but I had to disagree, I thought it was just a cozy homemade meal in a very pretty restaurant. That's how great the place is! You feel like you're just hanging out, but suddenly you have an amazing meal without them "trying too hard". Also, it looked like they have a great happy hour, and now I'm a little nervous that I'm gonna spend way too much time here... oh, and the tiramisu... don't even get me started. read more

My goodness! I have traveled to San Diego plenty of times for work and a majority of the foods I have tried have been okay to say the least. I am from the LA area and I must admit we are spoiled with tasty and savory foods. Devore took my breath away (my friend's as well). All the dishes we ordered and the amazing drinks we had were outstanding. Our server/bartender gave us excellent service. He brought out the tiramisu for us and maaaaan, we both had our eyes in the back of our heads because it was just so dang good. The best we've ever had. Recommend 10/10! Go! read more

Living in South Park we have an abundance of Italian restaurants, 4 in 2 blocks. We decided to give Decore in East Village a try. What a unexpected and glorious surprise. The 2 owners were there and provided so much information and entertainment to the evening. So unpretentious, unlike a few in our neighborhood. The Ravioli Tartufo e Funghi was incredible, lovely pillows of pasta filled with magnificent mushrooms and a hint of truffles. The Roman style pizza had a very light and airy crust with a delightful crunch to it. And, they offer many unique pizza toppings. Fantastic. The service and ambiance were also top notch. We will be back. read more

Decore is a hidden gem in the heart of the Gaslamp/East Village. This quaint, trendy, authentic Italian spot is everything you'd hope for in a family-run restaurant... warm hospitality, rich aromas, and food that tastes like it came straight from Nonna's kitchen. Everything is homemade, fresh, and you can taste the difference! The menu is thoughtfully curated, with classic dishes with innovative and upscale touches executed beautifully and a wine selection that perfectly complements every plate. From handmade pastas to rich sauces and delicate desserts, every bite feels personal. The service is warm and unpretentious... run by Italian owners that clearly take pride in what they do. If you're looking for an intimate, genuine dining experience with heart, flavor, and a little Italian soul, Decore is a must. read more

The overall classic ambience of an Italian Taverna comes to life in this charming Italian bistro. Nestled in a cozy corner of downtown where once stood the popular Cafe Chloe, co-owner Giovanni, most recently of Aqua Mare in Del Mar, has used his culinary Milanese background to fashion an extraordinary addition to the San Diego restaurant scene. He blends scrumptious appetizers and salad dishes with delicious pasta dishes to match Italian wine selections to create a unique culinary experience. Try the delicious calamari appetizer with pasta cacio and Pepe or the classic chicken cacciatore and combine with a glass of Pinot Grigio or Montapulciana d'Abruzzo and you will be transported to the Via Veneto! Save room for the tiramisu!! read more

Finally! The classy Euro-centric restaurant East Village needed since Cafe Chloe left us. A good Italian rival to Cowboy Star with an ambiance similar to the renovated Neighborhood Bar but better. This restaurant will do well. A great place for an evening glass of vino (or 3) and top notch pasta (the pizza looked great too). I tried the Brie, Bolognese, and cheesecake. Chefs kiss! So thankful I don't have to venture to Little Italy for great Italian fare. Cute for date night, but my toddler did well here too. Food 5 stars, ambiance 5 stars, music 5 stars. The vibe was Italian chic with an undertone of casual elegance, perfect for EV. Loved hearing the owners converse in Italian, complete with Italian images on their flatscreen and euro-house playlist, dare I say this place was a dream; next best thing to an Italian vacation. A cooler Bice (my old Gaslamp Italian favorite). They featured a small but poignant selection of wine. So glad I stopped in! Will be eating and drinking here a lot! read more

We asked if they could turn on the heat lamps, but they said they were out of propane. It took probably 15 minutes for anyone to greet us after that. We were told we would get to try 4 or 5 champagnes. And while they were trying their best, it just took such a long time between pours, and we didn't end up trying all of them, as they ran out of at least one. They did compensate by pouring more of the others, but they just didn't seem ready for the group that was there. We ended up shoving our way to stand inside, as it was not pleasant outside. It was a really cute place, and they all seemed very nice, but if they are going to have events, they need to be much more organized and probably limited to a smaller number of people unless they can put more tables out in the lobby area. After catching a Padres game, a group of four of us decided to try this Italian spot -- and wow, it absolutely blew us away! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, welcoming, and truly authentic -- like a little slice of Italy tucked away near the ballpark. I ordered the bolognese, and it was hands-down one of the best I've ever had. Rich, hearty, and perfectly balanced -- you could tell it was made with love and traditional techniques. Everyone at the table raved about their dishes too, from handmade pastas to melt-in-your-mouth entrees. The wine selection was also top-notch. Their list was thoughtfully curated with some amazing Italian vintages that paired perfectly with our meals. The staff was super knowledgeable and helped us pick a bottle that everyone loved. Honestly, if you're looking for a real, authentic Italian experience after a game (or anytime), this place is a must-visit. I can't recommend it highly enough -- we'll definitely be back! read more

OMG! Absolutely loved it. Don't let the size of this restaurant fool you, because it is huge in service, delicious food, and beautiful decor! My family of 4 went to Decore for my birthday and everyone was pleased with our decision. The food was delicious and the Suppli were to die for. The Calamari Fritti was so fresh and lightly breaded that no dipping sauce was needed. We each ordered a different entree so we had a variety to taste. We tried the braised oxtail and chicken, mushroom ravioli and a must cacio & pepe. Each one was cooked to perfection. Our reservation was for 6:45. When we were seated there was one other couple, but when we left, the place was packed. We can't wait to go back for dinner and drinks at their gorgeous bar! And finally a big "Thank you!" to Diego, our server, who made the experience that much better. Definitely a 5 out of 5 experience!!! read more

OMG. We visited San Diego two years ago and came to Vinarius on a YELP suggestion. It was…read moreunbelievable. Although the food is more American-Italian, it was one of the best things we have ever tasted. This time was no different. I am a pretty fair cook, and one of my specialties is Chicken Parmigiana. People have raved about my dish. But what I had at Vinarius was on a completely different level. I don't even know how to describe it. The taste was other-worldly. I can't remember what my wife had, but she enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed mine. We also had garlic bread that was the best we have ever had. How they made it so much better than any other garlic bread we've had is a mystery. We topped the meal off with Tiramisu. There's an Italian restaurant near us where we live that makes a delicious Tiramisu, but again, this was two or three steps above. Other than the food, the place is so warm, comfortable and inviting. What I would like to emphasize is the professionalism of the inner workings of this restaurant, the behind-the-scenes efforts that truly make it a 'next level' venue. Some places hit near perfect on food, or on service, or on ambience / cleanliness. Vinarius is a unicorn, a trifecta hitting all three. From the moment you enter, the staff's enthusiasm to have you as a guest is evident. The warmth, their inflection - so intentional, so genuine, so wonderful. From welcoming you from the curb through settling your account. The staff has multiple eyes on plates as they enter the chef's window, the constant and subtle movement on the floor means you can request something at ANYTIME without filling rushed or bothered. The intimate design and layout are authentic and create a peaceful yet exciting experience. In closing, Classic Expressos to begin, vast and wonderful wine selection, Fettuccine Alfredo with salmon, Pollo al Marsala and the Tiramisu to close out could NOT have been better. If I knew the names of the entire staff, I'd call them all out - as they truly function as a world series level team. But of note, Jacob - thank you for making our night extra special and taking such great care of us. Vinarius = as good as it gets. See you soon.
