My family has celebrated nearly every birthday of mine at Chevys for almost 36 years, including tonight for my birthday, and I have never had an experience even remotely close to this. Our server appeared severely impaired. I cannot say with certainty what was going on, but there was a strong smell of alcohol, unusual skin coloration, erratic behavior, and such a lack of attentiveness that the manager repeatedly came over after noticing us sitting for long periods waiting for basic things like chips, drink refills, and tortillas. The service became so noticeably bad that management was stepping in before we even had to ask. The restaurant itself was also in terrible condition. The men's restroom was filthy and had flies everywhere. After paying our bill, I privately pulled the manager aside because I was genuinely concerned. I told him about the server and also mentioned the bathroom conditions. His response was what really pushed this experience over the edge. Rather than showing concern, he immediately became defensive. He insisted the health inspector had supposedly been there that same day, said they had commented on the restroom, claimed it had been closed for three days, and repeatedly told me not to call the health department: "Please don't call them. You don't need to call them." That response alone raised major concerns for me. To make matters worse, this reservation had my birthday noted and we even used my birthday rewards entree, yet there was zero acknowledgment at any point. I walked in expecting a birthday tradition and walked out after what was easily the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. I told management I would not be returning. Chevys Santa Rosa used to be my favorite place to go. No longer. First they remodeled the parking lot, I had to exit twice and drive around the block to get to the handicapped parking spaces. Then, I brought my little white Maltese service dog, and we sat on the covered patio, dog on the chair next to me. The manager came over and told me the dog needs to be on the floor. In the past my dog was always allowed on the chair next to me if we eat on any of the patios. The manager said no, it didn't matter where we sat, my dog needed to be on the floor. He could not even sit on my lap. When my friend arrived, we left and ate at Americana. Americana is very dog friendly. My dog sat on a chair at Americana, no problem. Americana even brought him food in a dog bowl. Long story, sorry. I do like Chevys food. I'll stick to getting it delivered. All other Chevys restaurants let my dog sit on a chair. I've been staying in town for a few days for a birthday getaway...and Chevy's is conveniently placed near the train station. So I've stopped in a few times before or after a train ride. Every time I've gone in, I've sat at the bar, and every time the service from the same bartender Cesar has been fantastic. Even when it's crazy busy. Cesar is fast, friendly, and efficient. Top class. There's a lot of restaurants around here that I could go to, but I'll always go back to a place where the service is excellent and the bartender remembers your name and your drink, and can get that drink to you quickly! read more

The bartender was clearly drunk and we had to keep repeating our order because he was clearly intoxicated. He was swaying sideways and was not very nice to be honest. When I handed my ID over (I'm a grown adult, it's obvious) he paused like he couldn't read it (while swaying) and then went over to the other bartender who also took a bunch of time to confirm that my ID was real. I work as a bartender as well and have never behaved that way when checking someone's ID. It was absolutely ridiculous and it felt like they were doing it because I'm a woman and was alone while my brother was in the restroom. I'm not sure if that's true but that's what it felt like. Luckily my parents walked in while they were actively passing my ID around and then one of the guests told me to relax. What a weird way to behave. Great experience with Molly tonight! What an excellent and attentive waitress. She literally checked with us every time she passed by even when it was clear she was busy. She made sure our order was correct (even with our customizations) and brought us everything we asked for without ever making us feel high maintenance! On top of that the food was great, perfect temperature and very tasty! The tortilla soup and tortillas especially were the absolute best! Ordered through Door Dash this time. We ordered the mixed fajitas, salad and an extra sweet corn tomalito. The amount of meat in the fajitas was less than previous orders which was disappointing. Looking in the sealed bag, we found the sides nicely packaged, but the tortillas were missing and so was the extra sweet corn that I had paid for.
