I had not been inside a Buc-ee's store in more than 10 years. After my car politely informed me…read morethat I had about 30 miles before I would be searching for a gas station on foot, I made an emergency stop at Buc-ee's in Bastrop, TX. Note to self...if forced to choose between power shopping with friends and putting gas in your car, choose the gas. Everything is bigger in Texas, and Buc-ee's may be the poster child for that saying. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, the scale is impressive. Rows upon rows of gas pumps stretch across multiple sections, making it feel more like a fueling complex than a gas station. OMG!!! Step inside, and the experience gets even bigger. The place is enormous, with bright lighting, oversized signage, and enough merchandise to keep you wandering through the store for hours. Buc-ee's branding is everywhere, from water bottles and tumblers to outdoor furniture and clothing. One of the first things you'll notice is how incredibly clean everything is, especially the restrooms. My favorite feature? The red and green occupancy lights above each stall, eliminating the awkward lean-and-peek maneuver to check for availability. The food selection is a major highlight and far beyond what you'd expect from a typical travel stop. Fresh barbecue, brisket tacos, sandwiches, and the famous Beaver Nuggets are at your fingertips. There is also an astonishing selection of jerky, both packaged and freshly sliced, along with endless snacks, sweets, and drinks. And yes, they even have an in-store tortilla station. I definitely wasn't expecting that. Buc-ee's stands out for its sheer variety. Beyond the food, you'll find clothing for adults and children, swimwear, home goods, souvenirs, gifts, and enough Texas-themed merchandise to outfit an entire ranch. It feels like a travel center, gift shop, convenience store, and mini department store all rolled into one-stop shopping. Needless to say, Buc-ee's is a whole vibe. What started as a quick gas stop turned into an unexpectedly entertaining detour, and I thoroughly enjoyed my swing through.

The gas prices are lower than most, and the restrooms are clean, which are definitely positives. However, I've started to notice that food prices are getting too high for my budget. Additionally, I've observed a decline in the quality of some items they make in-store, like the BBQ sandwiches. Furthermore, this location isn't the easiest to exit if you're heading east on Highway 71. I hope they keep their prices competitive, but I'm seeing more competition around them, so I might start trying other places. Ultimately, price is the most important factor for me.

While this store is much smaller the similarities do not go unnoticed. Clean bathrooms, hot prepared foods, lots of beverage choices, snacks, and touristy souvenirs are just a few of the things you will find here. One thing that did trouble me was that there weren't prices on things. I saw a cute stuffed toy I considered purchasing, but I couldn't find a price. Saw a cool baseball cap I considered purchasing--no price. I did like that it wasn't as crowded as its competitor. This gave us the opportunity to browse without the crowds. The staff seemed somewhat friendly. Would we go back? Possibly. Oh, in case you were wondering, there were no Beaver Chips.

Even the restroom with the painting in the hallways are the same. Grabbed the kids icees. Decent amount of flavors to choose from. Smalls were $1.79, mediums $1.99. BUT the prices of the food seemed VERY VERY high. For instance, a TINY brisket/potato taco (which I could eat in like 3 bites) was $9!!!! No thanks. Cashier was friendly. She accidentally rang in 3 mediums but one was a small. I corrected her. NDB Cleanliness was top notch, just like Buc-ee's. We'd stop again.

Part restaurant, part convenience store, part traveler's haven, they do it all and do it all well. If you want a full Southern-style home-cooked meal, you can have that at Diane's Diner. If you want snacks and drinks, that's fine, too. If you want wine or microbrews, they've got it. If you just need to go potty, you won't find a cleaner place to do your business. And if your dog needs to do the same, well they've even got Rowdy's Rest Stop just for dogs to pee, poop, and play. Very friendly staff. Can't say enough about that, but it makes all the difference in what makes Morton's best. Although I have to admit I'm a devout fan of Buc-ee's, I sure wish there were more than just the one Morton's location. It's so well-done, I couldn't believe there aren't more. Their motto is food and family. I guess if they tried to franchise, they could no longer live up to at least one of those. And I respect that. The rare SIX stars. Don't miss!

I was watching my gauge and watching the pump but I couldn't see the nozzle overflowing and I couldn't hear it due to the wind and it was very cold or I would have been standing by the pump. He couldn't comprehend English and I called 911 to figure out what to do about the 10gallons of fuel underneath my truck and trailer with horses. time had passed to where it was evaporating but should have had kitty litter thrown in it. legally his pump should turn off, legally he should have cleaned up the spill. I'm not certain he is legally in this country. I reported him to every Government department I could think of involving rules and regulations on fuel nozzles and spills. I will not be going back and until his pumps are fixed, it is dangerous for anyone to be near the fuel pumps.

This is highway robbery. This store is the most expensive store in all of LaGrange. There are also no prices marked on anything so you don't know what the cost is until you get to the counter. Also a single pack of cigarettes that at Murphy's cost $5.38 is $13 at snappy's. I suggest we boycott this store and show the greedy owner of the store that his prices are price gouging.
