I'm not a big fan of that beaver place yall love so much so I was happy to try a miniature knock off version. Everything you would want from a truck stop, this has. I tried a piece of fudge and it was rich and delicious. The inside and bathrooms were very clean and welcoming.

Had to chuckle at how much this looks like a Buc-ee's. Maybe this is by design. Who knows?! All I needed was a restroom break as I had been travelling the previous few hours from East Texas. Everything seemed clean, well stocked, and properly maintenanced. Prices seemed a little high, but I guess that's Bidenomics at work. Don't pass up on an opportunity to shop here.

Never heard of this place before until I was driving past it. Different theme, but basically, another Bucee's gas store that sells similar merchandises. There are some things that are different like their food items, drinks, etc. It's like going to Sams Club and Costco, both similar, but different. They have their own mascot emblem, cheap gas, bakery, and hot/cold food area. I did notice that they have a dining area which I think was very convenient for those who want to just relax and eat before driving again. Overall, like Bucees, it's a bit pricey so if you don't pay attention to what you're buying, you'll end up buying $60-$100s worth of snacks lol. Pretty large parking lot. Lots of clean restrooms.

Fajita Breakfast Platter w/ Spanish Rice & Sausage Patties

My friend and I stopped at The Texan on our recent drive from San Antonio to Houston for Memorial Day Weekend to go to the restroom and grab a quick breakfast. The restrooms were clean, not crowded and the store area had a great selection of items (drinks, deli items, snacks/candy, etc). Both my friend and I decided to order from the restaurant counter inside. We ordered: - Chicken Fajita Breakfast Platter w/ Rice: Better than expected with flavorful and well cooked chicken (I was worried it would be chewy). - Fajita & Egg Breakfast Platter w/ Sausage, Potatoes and Refried Beans (tortilla on the side): All components were much better than I would've expected for a gas station breakfast! Seasoned appropriately and very flavorful. - Blueberry Cream Cheese Kolache: The woman recommended having this heated up so we did. It was very soft with a sweet blueberry cream cheese center and had a doughy and salty outer rim. This was good but not something I'd order again. One thing I loved about this breakfast counter was how many egg types they had to choose from (plain scrambled eggs, egg & sausage, egg & fajita, egg & chorizo, egg & bacon, etc). Additionally, the portions were reasonable. The downside to the breakfast counter was how incredible slow it was. The woman working had no idea what she was doing and I had to tell her what the menu said came with the breakfast platter. She even tore up my sausage patties into little pieces because she didn't know where they should go in the to-go box. Luckily, tearing it up doesn't change the flavor so I didn't mention it. Also, the pricing was different than listed/ wrong when I went to check out so I'd suggest checking it before paying. Overall- I'd definitely stop here again!

I love the beaver, but I also love the Texan! If you accidentally passed the beaver, don't worry... The Texan is just up the road!!

Visited this place one our way to San Antonio back from Houston. This place is literally a mini Buc-ee's! Bathrooms are immaculate. Snacks and food on par for a truck stop. Pricing was affordable and fresh. 4 stars only because that's the very best a truck stop can receive without any service needs. Just a stop.

Nice gas station. Like a mini Bucees. Clean restrooms and good selection. Recommend it.

Go down the road for faster service, ignored and waited over 20 minutes for a sandwich. Food was good but not worth the trouble and wait.

You know the feeling. This, my friends, is why the Stripes in Schulenburg is a veritable oasis in every road trip warrior's sights. Because Stripes has - get this - a fabulous FRESH FRUIT BAR (they call it a "fruitateria") that is sure to put a spring in your step and refresh even the most road-weary traveler. This stunning array of goodness features fresh strawberries, both green and purple grapes, oranges (cut into luscious, rindless, bite-sized chunks - and these are fresh, not that canned or jarred stuff), grapefruit (ditto), honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon, apple, pineapple, MANGO (yes, FRESH MANGO), maraschino cherries, and probably other selections that my overjoyed, overwhelmed brain failed to comprehend. But wait...there's more. You get to prepare your own mix, so no lame pre-mixed combo filled with the cheap stuff that you don't really like anyway. A large 16 oz cup costs TWO DOLLARS. An extra large cup? Three dollars. A similar sized fresh fruit cup would cost upwards of 3-4 times that amount at Whole Foods or Central Market - and you wouldn't get to choose your own mix (and it sure as hell would not include fresh mango. Did I mention that they had fresh mango?) Deal of the century, people. If you ever find yourself tooling about in Schulenburg, be sure and stop by Stripes for the fresh fruit ride of your life.
