The employees are extremely unhappy due to lack of good pay and poor management. The management does not care about customers or their employees. The produce section always has rotten fruits and vegetables on the display, which is extremely unappetizing. The mean section as pieces of green chicken, yes green! Not to mention, it smells horrible....probably a bunch of spoiled meat not kept at the right temperatures. The bakery deli is probably what keeps the store running....since H.E.B. doesn't have one. If H.E.B. opens up a bakery deli I wouldn't be surprised if this place shut down completely. The bakery food is good, but depends on what time you go. One of the workers there named "Guy" is horrible. He is unfriendly to customers and employees alike. You can tell that he is full of himself. The crazy thing is that all of the merchandise here is overpriced compared to their clean, friendly competitor H.E.B. If you are going grocery shopping in Columbus, do yourself a favor and go to H.E.B. instead. This place is dirty, overpriced, and terrible. I am surprised that Brookshire Brothers allows one of their stores to run this way because the one in Halletsville, TX is actually decent.

That said, in the midst of this pandemic, after months of sitting outside the chaos of the Bastrop HEB for its mediocre curbside offerings, this experience was like a vacation! We picked up lots of produce, but also tried the prepared meals. My husband had the Korean pulled pork with kimchi, which was fantastic, and I had the ravioli with pesto, pine nuts, and fresh local tomatoes. I'm not the biggest fan of pasta in general, but this was so very good. I can't wait for another, before tomato season is through. Thank you, Royal Tomato! The weight of this year's day to day got a little lighter.

They have a wonderful selection. And they are the only place I know that correctly calls "sausage kolaches" as their real name--Klobásník--or Klobásníky (plural.) but don't expect those to still be there. On a weekday, they might still have these Czech treats until 3 pm, but on the weekends, they go fast! Always friendly staff and i just love looking through their home decor. They have the cutest little tchotchkes that are locally crafted and so wonderful for home, garden, or lawn. I have bought many a christmas and birthday gift on the way. Great metal art as well! The bathrooms are always clean and smell fine. I highly recommend stopping at least one time to see everything they have to offer. It's a true, "small Texas town" stop! Oh, and set the GPS! He's rude and not a customer person. He should not be representing HEB at all, Nor should those in the cooking / hand out samples. They seem very bias against African Americans....big time. The Asian woman, Susan, is very rude, as is Miguel, Carlos. Why they keep them is definitely MISMANAGEMENT! They make rude comments, spread false rumors about good customers, especially African Americans. Albert and the other "directors" don't care...they don't do their jobs either. They had been at the HEB Bear Creek, a much smaller HEB, but a good one. The 3 African American women who cook / hand out samples are very good...too bad those at this HEB aren't. We get a lot of curb-side...it has smelled like weed numerous times. Are they smoking weed back there or out in front? Smells like it. HEB CORPRORATE, GET RIDE OF THE MANAGER MIKE, THEN MIGUEL, CARLOS AND SUSAN. THEY ARE NOT GOOD EXAMPLES OF WHO HEB IS OR USED TO BE. YOU CAN DO MUCH BETTER.
